Valero Pay-At-The-Pump is unreliable at this station…read more Sure, not many drivers care about gas station reviews on Yelp. Everyone only cares about the price of a gallon of gas. But here's the thing, to get in and out quick, pay at the pump has to work. The other night I was coming down Kirker Pass (westbound) and I see this Valero station. I pull in to Pump #1 with the intent to grab a few gallons and takeoff. Pump #1 didn't accept a Valero gas card. So I went inside where there were other drivers with the same problem. While I was waiting, I went to use the "all gender" restroom. It was pretty clean, maybe a "7" on a scale of 1-10. Then I speak to the cashier about my problem at Pump #1. My card worked fine, and I purchased $40 worth. The gentleman didn't say thank you, nor did he smile. In fact, he had this unpleasant look on his face. I went outside and discovered Valero gave me a 10-cent discount per gallon. I used it on Regular which was at $5.49/gal. Okay, this was last Thursday, and $5.49/gal wasn't cheap. I just checked, the price is still at $5.49. However, this Valero has a prime location at Clayton Rd & Kirker Pass Rd. That's why everything is so high, it's at the bottom of Kirker Pass Rd if you're going west. Oh, for you non-locals, Kirker Pass Road is an inter-regional route between Central and East Contra Costa County. Lots of drivers use this road to bypass major traffic congestion on Highway 4. FYI- experienced drivers only! You will drive up and over a mountain. Enjoy the scenery! Misc notes: - 1 pump per island - 2 restrooms

They told me that I would get a "credit" back on the overage amount. Haven't seen it yet. I am going to dispute the total charge. Shady business. You would think that they would have their act together given their prime location.

I was shocked to see they no longer pre-wash the car. I thought that was part of the wash. What happened to the things you put on the outside of your car to tell them what kind of wash you bought? I bought the wash and wax and tire shine but I didn't see any wax come out and I had to tell the guy drying my car to do the tire shine. Everything seemed ok until the brushes started spinning hella fast and the last one that is next to the car actually hit my left side mirror really hard and moved the mirror glass. I shrieked and as soon as I got out of there I got out of my car to make sure the mirror wasn't broken. It wasn't, but the experience is still scary, I was cringing the entire time. I think there is more material on the brushes because they look bigger and thicker than the previous ones. Maybe if I had a big truck it wouldn't bother me but I have a little Saturn SL2. I think I am going to have to find another place.

The pump stopped working and did not give me any gas at all so I calmly went back inside and explained the situation I took a picture of the pump and everything and the first guy told me that he didn't know and that $10 wasn't that big of a deal and at least it wasn't $100 and that he didn't know what to do to help me and that I needed to go search the store and find the other guy to help me with the gift card because he didn't know what to do. They both could barely speak English and could not come up with a solution. I said well this is going to be a real problem then because I paid for it and I have my receipt. He just kept repeating that his machine said zero which I didn't know what that meant considering the transaction went through. They both were unhelpful and when I initially went to go find the other coworker he walked away from me as I was talking to him they are both extremely dismissive and downright rude. They pretty much refused to help me and I couldn't even figure out what they were telling me the whole time. I asked them if the money went back on the card and they were very unclear about it so I pretty much just spent money for no reason and yes it's $10 but that's still gas money at the end of the day especially considering how expensive it is. This is unacceptable the behavior was absolutely uncalled for. They should be fired. I would be embarrassed to have them as my employees. Oh and not to mention a couple months back I walked in because they were still open even though they had just gotten broken into and by the time I realized it was about to walk out of the store the owner or whoever it was rudely looked at me and said obviously we're not fucking open right now. To which I responded you don't have to be so rude I just realized it as you were about to make that rude comment.

They're clearly using cheaper products, and the level of care just isn't there anymore. We recently took my boyfriend's car in for a detail before a long road trip, expecting it to be spotless and safe to drive. Instead, the windows were left completely smeared--so bad it was actually hard to see out of them. That's not just disappointing, it's unsafe. When we called to let them know, the experience got even worse. The employee who answered was rude, dismissive, and hung up on us after saying, "What do you want me to do about it? The manager's not here." No attempt to fix the issue, no apology--nothing. It's really disappointing to see a place that used to be reliable go so far downhill. Between the poor quality work and the terrible customer service, I won't be coming back
