My little trick when walking to/from the Wynn or the Mall and the weather sucks. Walk across the sky bridge directly into Treasure Island from the mall. It's a little tricky to find your away around once inside, but look for the tram signage. It's towards the back of the casino at TI. Try to avoid the temptation to stop at the place that sells Krispy Kreme Donuts and head up the escalator to the tram stop. You won't wait very long for the next tram.

Everyone was pretty nice here and the airport was really clean--even the restroom. There wasn't a long line for the ladies room like most other airports, or maybe I was just lucky! They have slots inside the airport, and yes you can win money on them. I played $20 before boarding my flight and I won $76--so try your luck.

Lines move, bags show up, and somehow you're from gate to curb before you can even finish checking your phone. And the lights--oh, the lights. Bright, bold, unmistakably Vegas. It's like the Strip sent a welcome party right into the terminal. But the real MVP? Slot machines everywhere. Not "a few tucked in the corner." I'm talking you could miss your flight chasing a hot streak if you're not careful. Need a quick snack? Done. Need a ride? Easy. Need to test your luck before you even hit the hotel? Already handled. There's something oddly perfect about landing in a city built on chance... and being invited to play before you even grab your luggage. Final verdict: Fast. Bright. Slightly dangerous for your wallet (in the best Vegas way). This airport doesn't just get you in and out-- it reminds you exactly where you are the second you arrive.

We walked over to TSA pre check using facial recognition. On the conveyor belt my carry on luggage was scanned and pulled aside for further inspection. Pro tip: I had an ice gel pack that was not frozen. I was asked why I needed it. Once I explained why, the TSA supervisor approved it. She explained it has to be in a frozen state if you're going to do carry on. Once we passed security we took the down escalator to take the tram to the D gate. Several places were open for business at this early hour around 4:15am.including Annie's Pretzels and Starbucks. Plenty of tables and chairs while catching an quick bite before boarding.

Additionally there will be times where I have to give my car frequent rest. While it gets its rest I will be walking greater distances with the assistance of the C.A.T. buses. The South Strip Transfer Center (abbreviated SSTC from this point forward) plays a role in achieving this goal. This is a relatively realistic goal to meet taking into consideration that my residence is close to a major local route. The SSTC is located in an area that has the environment of a business park. It is south of Harry Reid International Airport and the Las Vegas Strip and a short walk from the Rental Car Facility. It provides connections to local routes including the 212: Sunset Road, 217: Warm Springs Road, 104: Valley View Road, 109: Maryland Parkway, and 117: S. Las Vegas Boulevard. It also connects with the Las Vegas Strip via the Duece and Harry Reid International Airport via the 109. Lately I have used this facility three times. In September, I used it with a local route that connected me to SSTC and the 109 to Harry Reid International Airport. I admit that it isn't the funnest thing to wheel a suitcase across a major intersection then wait by a busy road for the bus and wait again at the terminal for another. However, this saved me $20 each way and the bus stop was at Level Zero right by the ticket counter and baggage claim. This was a closer walk and less of a wait for a ride share. Recently I did a long walk to the facility although there were contiguous bus stops for a local route along the highway. From the facility I took the 117 to the South Point. Before I ever set foot in the SSTC, I had the perception that it would be grimy. However when I have visited here, it has been a clean facility with an active security presence. I have seen no graffiti and vandalism. When I looked on top of the bay a camera was keeping an eye on me. This creates a perception of safety. Apparently many other people feel safe here. The SSTC is attached to a parking lot. Apparently many people use it as a free alternative to the Harry Reid International Airport long term parking. There is even a form to fill out to inform security. If there was a feeling of safety concerns, I do not feel that people would leave their car here for up to seven days. I feel the need for improvement with ticketing at the customer service. Speaking of ticketing a bus ride on a local route costs $2 and an all day pass that includes the Duece costs $5. The problem that I found out from the mouth of an Agent is that you cannot purchase tickets at the counter. This is a flaw considering that places like Albertsons sell them. Apparently you can buy them on the bus. This is unhelpful when you do not have direct change or have questions with payment methods. This is definitely a flaw. As I write this, I would like to think that later on in 2026 and beyond that I will be using the SSTC. Especially as a connection between a local bus route and the Duece that will bring me to and from the Las Vegas Strip. With this, I conclude my review with these three tips: Tip One: the CAT and Duece with the SSTC saves money on the atrocious parking fees. Tip Two: You do not have to worry about drinking and driving. Tip Three: You save an extraordinary amount of money by not spending it on ride shares.

The Vegas Monorail is actually pretty efficient going about 50 mph along about a 4-mile stretch of the Strip. Trains arrive frequently so you never have to wait long. It's a pretty comfortable ride and quick. In the mid 20th century, the monorail seemed like it would be the future of mass transit. Perhaps, the most well known is Disney World in Orlando built in the early 1970's. Monorails aren't really the best for mass transit. They are expensive to build. But there are rare exceptions where they can work. This is if put in high touristy area for a short distance. This is along a 4-mile stretch of the strip. But this wouldn't be good to expand the monorail to downtown Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, etc. It'd be prohibitively expensive to build many miles of track & need the land to build elevated track. Another example is in Seattle about 1 mile from Seattle Center, where the space needle & site of the 1962 World's Fair showing how the monorail was going to be the future. Goes from Seattle Center to downtown Seattle. People ride it for the convenience of getting between the 2 touristy areas and just for fun nostalgic value. As for the Vegas monorail, I had been on it a couple of times when visiting Vegas with my parents. In November 2019, my girlfriend of that time & I were there for a wedding. We rode the monorail for convenience once to efficiently travel from south to north the entire length from OYO (walking to MGM Grand where the southern most stop is) to Sahara (northernmost stop). We hung at Sahara & Strat, where another friend was staying. Then took Uber to downtown where we staying. We found the Vegas monorail to be efficient & enjoyable. It's kind of no frills and doesn't go that far, but it does the job to get you to where you want to go. Unfortunately, the Vegas monorail may be defunct in 2035 as Elon Musk's Boring Company is building tunnels all across the Vegas Valley, which will be dozens of miles of private driverless Tesla going to lots of stops underground. It'll cover a lot more land, but there are a lot of downsides too. One of which is monorail will not be needed anymore.

Still a great deal after all these years!…read more Even with the popularity of Lyft and Uber as well as Zook, you can't beat the convenience of being able to hop on and off from location to locaction while being covered from the elements. Which during summer or rain is priceless. They have recently added new pay stations which make it even easier to ride. Give the monorail a consideration when staying on or along the strip. This is BY FAR the worst FBO I've ever visited and will NEVER visit again. Employees at the FBO gave conflicting information and rather than cordially resolve a basic miscommunication, resorted to threaten us. I've had issues at this airport previously with customer service and that should have been my red flag. Instead, Angel and the manager Bruce proceeded to be rude and unempathetic to a simple mistake. Oh and Bruce, thanks for refusing to even talk to me, instead forcing Angel to be your minion. You're a very bad person.

A great way to see Vegas is on the SDX bus. It goes much faster than the Deuce. Takes you almost…read morethe entire Strip. Fewer stops and same price. Pretty easy to buy tickets. Better and cheaper way of getting around. Cabs are ridiculously expensive. The private shuttles also cost a lot more. It's possible to buy tickets for this at any of the transportation centers. There's also many bus stops that have machines. It's a part of the local bus system, the RTC which goes all around the city. Your bus ticket can be used on any route. One day tickets are $8. You can get three days for $20. It begins at the South Strip Terminal close to the airport. The route goes all the way to downtown and Fremont. You can use your ticket to get on the Deuce or any other route.

I live in Las Vegas and, on days that I don't feel like driving, I try to use the SDX (Strip &…read moreDowntown Express) as a faster alternative to the Deuce for Strip and Downtown traveling. The SDX and the Deuce generally run the same route. However, the SDX is faster than the Deuce because it makes less stops, ticket purchases must be done prior to boarding, and proof of purchase is not required to get on. The SDX is a twin trailer, single level bus which is immediately distinguishable from the doubl -decker Deuce bus. It's tickets are the same as the Deuce: $6 for 2 hours, $8 for 24 hours, and $20 for 3 days, good on any Vegas bus. Unlike the Deuce, though, the SDX employs an off-board fare-only policy: Prior to boarding, you have have already bought your ticket, usually at a ticket vending machine (TVM). Tickets cannot be purchased on an SDX bus itself. This speeds up the boarding process, as there are no boarding delays from passengers inserting money in the fare box. TVMs are at most SDX and Deuce stops. Tickets can also be purchased by mail prior to your Las Vegas trip, but no one I know does this, as the TVMs are plentiful and easy to use. In addition, proof of ticket purchase is not required to board the SDX, so riders can board on any of the three sets of doors on the SDX without running their tickets through the scanner in the fare box or showing their tickets to the bus driver. This makes boarding much faster on the SDX. In contrast, boarding the Deuce requires entrance at the front door only, with riders having to scan their tickets or purchasing them at the fare box. Don't be a fare jumper on the SDX, however, as you may incur a fine if caught riding without a ticket! Since the drivers on the SDX do not generally interact with boarding passengers, there are fewer delays caused by passengers asking them questions. If you do have any questions, the RTC (Regional Transportation Committee of Southern Nevada) has "ambassadors" at numerous bus stops who can assist you, and they are recognizable by their uniforms. In addition, fellow bus passengers may also answer your questions, especially if they are locals. Also, the SDX stops at the North and South Las Vegas Premium Outlets, while the Deuce does not. The SDX even goes to the South Strip Transfer Terminal (SSTT) on Gilespie, in the vicinity of McCarran airport. From the SSTT, a ten minute ride on Route 109 will take you directly to McCarran International Airport However, the fewer stops on the SDX means it is unsuited for short distance travel. For example, for a short bus ride, say, from Caesar's Palace to Treasure Island, the SDX won't work because it just doesn't have a stop in this interval. In such an instance, taking the Deuce (or hiring a taxi or simply walking) would be your better option. On the other hand, on a long haul such as a bus ride from Downtown to Mandalay Bay, the SDX would be for you. Furthermore, less stops also means it is more difficult to get on an SDX bus. There have been several times when I got on a Deuce bus because I simply could not locate an SDX stop. In contrast, Deuce bus stops are ubiquitous on the Strip and easy to find. In a traffic jam, the SDX's advantages disappear, as it gets stuck along with the Deuce in the same vehicular congestion on Las Vegas Blvd., which seems to occur every Friday night and much of Saturday. During these times, it may be better to just walk on the Strip. One time, I was on that other bus (Deuce) on a Saturday night, and it was so slow that I just got off at the next stop and walked to my destination. Overall, I like the SDX bettter than the Deuce, because it is faster and more efficient. The Deuce is sometimes slow and lumbering in comparison, and, as such, it as been disparaged by several Yelpers as "The Douche." In summary, hooray for the SDX, which is a useful alternative to the Deuce!

It has all the benefits of light rail including prepaid boarding, level boarding, dedicated rights-of-ways, etc without the high costs associated with vehicles and track. The ACE Gold Line serves the Las Vegas Convention Center, Downtown Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas Strip. The system runs on its own dedicated right-of-way in downtown, while on the strip it shares the road with other vehicles. Because of this, the vehicles are bound to get bogged down on Las Vegas Blvd. when the Strip becomes a proverbial parking lot. With high frequency, relatively high speeds, and well marked, well lit stations, the ACE Gold Line is a welcomed mass transit option for Las Vegas!

Anyways, if I have to go around the strip, I prefer taking this over the Deuce when possible. It does not go to every casino like the Deuce, but that's the point for me. I like to spend as little time as possible in the normally crowded hotbox. I am normally heading down to Cosmopolitan so it works for me. It stops at Fashion Show/ Wynn, Bellagio/Paris, Excalibur/MGM, Mandalay Bay in the "core" of the strip, so it's not the best for most tourist, but this is a better way to get to the fringes like going down to Town Square, Las Vegas Outlets, heading up to Stratosphere, Downtown or Premium Outlets. Since it doesn't have as many strip stops as Deuce, then you'll get to the other things a bit faster. Just a note if you happen to be at Fashion Show and getting on the bus there, go walk to the Spring Mtn side by Neiman Marcus/Macys and get a bus pass there and come back onto the LV Blvd side to grab this or the Deuce. Since that services residential routes, it has passes at the regular prices and not the strip/tourist price. $3 2 hour passes and $5 all day passes. BTW, unlike the Deuce where the driver is out in the open who you can ask questions to and there is a payment machine on board, this is not set up the same. The driver is sealed behind glass and cannot be bothered and you use the prepaid stations at the stops and be ready to board quickly. If you don't know where you are going, there are maps on the bus route and often RTC ambassadors on the strip stops.
