My truck mirror was damaged by the Gate Express Carwash in WGV when the side brush slammed into my passenger side mirror - that BTW was folded in, so hard it bent the mirror forward and then tore the cover off the mirror. Gate refuse to pay for the damage. They claim they are "only liable for equipment malfunction". Apparently their equipment is designed to damage people's vehicles. My entire family had monthly memberships here for the past couple of years. No more! Gate will never get another cent from me. My suggestion for anyone considering this place, don't do it. I've been a loyal customer of the Murabella GateExpress car wash for years, but after my recent experience, I won't be returning. During my wash, the side spinning brush suddenly slammed hard into my vehicle and damaged my passenger side view mirror. It wasn't a minor tap either -- the impact was strong enough to leave visible damage and immediately raised concerns about the safety of their equipment. What made the situation even worse was how the claim was handled afterward. I immediately reported the incident to the staff, provided all the details, and expected the business and their insurance company to stand behind their service. Instead, the insurance company denied the claim, stating they only cover damages caused by an "equipment malfunction." Apparently, if their machinery damages your car but they don't officially label it a malfunction, you're just out of luck. As a long-time customer, I found this incredibly disappointing. Businesses that rely on automated equipment should take responsibility when that equipment causes damage -- regardless of the technical wording used by their insurance company. The lack of accountability and customer care here was frustrating and unacceptable. I trusted GateExpress with my vehicles for years, but after being treated this way, I canceled my family membership plan and can no longer recommend them to anyone. This was an unplanned stop after leaving a nearby campground after I noticed a flock of seagulls had dropped their payload all over the back of my vehicle. The acidic nature of this dung doesn't look very appealing and can solidify rather quickly and etch the paint - I have a friend from Europe who swears this is a sign of good luck, well the beneficiary of this lucky action is the owner of Gate Express Car Wash since he became $15 richer this morning after I pulled into his establishment. There was an unbelievable amount of customers waiting, the dual lanes at the pick and pay kiosk proves this is a popular destination no matter what some of the reviewers think of this place, it appears that the majority of the customers in front of me belong to the carwash club and were returning for their free daily wash. After swiping my credit card the barricade lifted and I was able to beat the guy in the near lane before it narrowed a few vehicle lengths before the entrance. This is quite the cash cow, the cars are nearly bumper to bumper as they are dragged through the wash bay. I will say the amount of soap dispensed is incredible I'm sure the phosphorus concoction could create it's on red tide at the municipals waste water plant, you have zero forward vision for most of this journey through the tunnel so you just need to trust the technology. I'm currently held hostage in line to enter this car wash. How long have I been here? Long enough to rearrange my glove box, clear out my center console, and stack my change in order by size. I now have the license plate of the car in front of me memorized, and based on their bumper stickers think that's we might make good friends. We even waved to commiserate together. Bonus points for the cool flashy lights and techno colored foam. Praying I can make it to a shady vacuum spot because it is hot and there are so many cars in front of me. This place is so freaking awesome, I could come here every day and never get bored of their car wash. It does an amazing job of dumping out the water and soap suds onto your car, so much that nearly every particle of dirt will fall down, it even sprays it with a nice blue polish at the end. When you're all done with the fancy wash, you can use a high powered vacuum system to completely remove every bit of junk on the inside through their vacuum system. if they had seven stars on yelp, I would give them a full seven stars, I would buy a subscription to this place it's so useful, Come to think of it, I actually did buy a subscription!! We have company coming into town so I needed to quickly get my car cleaned. I seen this place in passing and thought I would try them. There were not a lot of people here (could be because it is going to rain) but I was happy about that as I can take my time on vacuuming my car. I like that they have the rug cleaners. The stall I chose however had a broken vacuum, it works but the head somehow is stuck together so it wasn't picking up much. Since I had already started cleaning I didn't want to have to pack up everything and pick a new stall. I ended up using the vacuum on the other end of the car crawling over the seats. I know people must have thought I looked crazy ha ha. I didn't have much interaction with the staff however I did see them often picking up trash. read more

I love this car wash location! I bought the $14.99 silver membership when the business first opened here at the Durbin Crossing location. Yes you can go everyday at any location but once though--hey that's not a bad deal at all! It does a great job getting the bugs, dirt, springtime yellow pollen and Florida rain dust off. It's 2 minutes tops from home. This car wash location along with the new stores and restaurants coming in are all nice to have close by. I have lived here in the area for 14 years, it's definitely growing on this side of St. John's County area. Crazy at times getting in and out though, you just have to plan accordingly. Great to know that many Gate Express car wash places will be opening soon (just saw recently County Road 210 and also the corner of Phillips Hwy and 9B). There is one that just opened on Old St. Augustine, brand new (October 2019.). This is also a very nice location as well! I went to the Beach Blvd location today. This was crowded on a Sunday afternoon to be expected but moved quickly, no complaints here. The staff directing you in are all super friendly and nice. They let you know if your vehicle is aligned/not aligned with the track before going in. I always have better luck without too much time waiting around 1:30-3:00 p.m. (weekday late lunch, more reason to get out to grab lunch and get the car washed) and 7:30 p.m. (30 minutes before closing). I am satisfied! Good amount of suds for the basic wash to get any gunk off and dries your car very well too. As a nice perk, you can also vacuum the inside of your vehicle too in the covered area. Terrible Experience with Gate Car Wash and Gallagher Basset Insurance I had a horrible experience with Gate Car Wash and their third-party insurance company, Gallagher Basset. I had to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for weather stripping repairs on my new truck because Gallagher Basset denied my claim, stating weather stripping isn't covered. Fast forward a bit to 6/3/24, a car wash attendant informed me after the fact that a driver had issues with their vehicle shifting into park. Despite this, they crammed three vehicles back to back into the tunnel. Naturally, the first vehicle shifted to park in the tunnel (like the attendant already knew would happen), causing the second vehicle to brake suddenly to avoid a collision. I was the third vehicle and couldn't see through the soap-covered windshield. The first car was stuck, but the car wash belt kept moving, causing me to slam into the second car five times, damaging the rear end of their SUV. After holding down my horn, the attendant finally stopped the car wash. They let the first vehicle leave while I was trapped in the tunnel. The police determined that Gate was responsible as they controlled the vehicles while in neutral. The incident was documented as "property damage." Despite the significant damage to the SUV, there was no visible damage to my truck. I requested that Gate's insurance cover an inspection of my vehicle due to the extent of the SUV's damage. I wanted to see the video to determine if my truck was positioned much higher than the SUV, possibly damaging their vehicle with the skid plate under my truck so I knew where to look. I wasn't allowed to see the video. However, the claim was immediately denied. Gate refused to share any information about the first car, including tag info or video recordings. Gate's Risk Manager, Holly Wozniak (904-732-2338), agreed to reopen the claim, only to deny it again a month later, siding with Gallagher Basset's stance that they are never responsible for damage at their car wash. There was no discussion or questions, just a simple denial. It's baffling that an attendant would place vehicles so closely behind one with known issues, leading to damage. There were even children in the SUV I rear-ended repeatedly, yet Gate showed no concern. You'd expect a company led by a former Mayor of Jacksonville to take responsibility. Eyewitnesses, the police, and my insurance company all agree that Gate is responsible, as they controlled the vehicles while we were in neutral. Gate and Gallagher Basset are all about profit and do not care about damage to customer vehicles or the safety of children in those vehicles. read more

So this weekend after taking my Ford Explorer through the car wash my roof antenna was ripped off. And I have been through this car wash many times. My antenna is permanently mounted to my roof with nine screws after talking to the claims department and corporate they pretty much tell you to kick rocks. Just know if this happens to you and there was no reported incident of a malfunction of the car wash that day you're on the hook for this repair. read more

Nice automated Gate Express Car Wash in a great and convenient location to the Bartram / Durbin areas right off of 9B. It's a shorter and faster Gate Car wash than the normal one I use down the road, but it packs in the same great job. Also this location has few vacuums to clean the inside of the car. These vacuums really suck in a good way! I've enjoyed using the Gate Car Wash locations so much that I've purchased the unlimited silver membership for $14.99 a month; which allows me to have my car washed daily at any Gate Car Wash location. Their $5 wash is pretty decent but there are definitely better washes in town at the comparable higher-priced wash options. It's conveniently located at the new Durbin Pavilion Town Center. It may not be worth the hassle once all these stores and other businesses finally open but it's tolerable for now. The monthly membership is a good deal as you can use it at all their locations in the area. Free self service vacuums are included with every wash. This place has come in handy with my black car during this heavy pollen season. read more

BEWARE of DAVID CROW - I and three additional customers had the Car Wash attendant guiding the cars in as normal. I have been a customer of this wash and driving my car in for a long time. So how to do it is not something that is unknown to me. I do it multiple times a week. Unfortunately, in this case, the car left side once guided in, jumped over what seemed like a huge bumped. We actually saw it happen to the car directly in front of us but thought it was an isolated incident. However, once we were guided in, the same thing happened to us. In fact I quicky rolled my window down and asked if everything was ok and the attendant stated, "Its good now". We then watched the car behind us and the same thing happened to them. Afterwards, one of the customers that parked beside us was checking their wheel and rims. hey told us they just had their car jump in the wash also and was concerned about their rim. My husband went to share this issue with the person in the office as we initiatlly thought it was an equipment issue. When he was sharing the issue with the person in the office, the attendant guiding the cars came into the office and stated "I know what I am doing. I have been doing this for years" Then he came out of the office through the front door aggressively as though he was looking to physically fight and the resource talking to my husband put his hands on the attendant to push him back into the office. I reported the incident and the Manager (not sure of his actual title) called me and said the following: 1. It happened because of poor driving skills (even though it happened to 4 others that I guess also had poor driving skills) 2. He stated the attendant only verbally talked (which was a lie as the other resource put his physical hands on the attendant and moved him back into the office). Two other customers saw it and provided me with their phone number if I needed it. When I asked DAVID CROW if he viewed the video outside the office he told me no. SO obviously he missed that. But basically all but told me I was lying. 3. He told me that I was falsely accusing his employee of something that did not happen. I reminded him that two people witnessed the event and provided their phone numbers if I needed them. So I guess it was a a coordinated event with random customers. I have no reason to make up such an incident, I have no gain. What I do have is facts and simply asked him to handle the situation and just let me know they did. Instead my DAVID CROW inflamed the situation, was rude, told me we had poor driving skills, we were falsifying info, etc. It was obvious that he was trying to either get out of trouble with his management or is friends with the attendant. Either way, this was poorly handled and he did nothing to address the issue but create this post and additional action I will now go forward with. When a simple acknowledge of the incident was all that was necessary and to indicate they had reviewed and would be addressed. A two minute call had now turned into a more inflamed issue. Daily's can thanks DAVID CROW for this personally. He needs to learn better management skills and there are probably other issues that have been reported that he handles equally as poorly or doesn't notify his management to try to keep himself out of trouble. read more

This is the worst gate express. I purchased the highest membership and every single time that I have come which has been three times in total the fast pass never works. I always have to contact an attendant for support and when they come out they have to manually let me. Today was the last straw. David Crowe, the manager on duty has absolutely no professionalism no customer service and should look for a different job. He is a terrible manager and has absolutely no idea on how to assist a customer that's having an issue with their membership rather than being understanding of the issues happening every single time that I go to this car wash he says I can just give you a refund and I said absolutely not. I have been in line for 30 minutes just to get up here and if that is the case, I want to cancel my membership completely. Place was very clean and car wash menu offered a lot of options. I got the "Gold" was this time (a few upgrades over the base car wash. Car came out clean, and they offer many free self-service vacuums and bays to park in to dry and further clean your vehicle. The vacuums really sucked! I mean they are strong and easy to clean your carpets with lol! They also offer a free mat cleaning machine. Place was great, no complaints, but compared to the car wash I usually use in Mandarin I didn't get as much for the price I paid; for the same price at my favorite wash, I get all this plus: use of glass cleaner and degreaser/cleaner spray, use of cotton drying/detail towels, use of free air hoses, and free air fresheners. Overall still a very good place, but for me it's my second favorite car wash. read more

Please be aware that according to gate car wash express terms of service, if your car is more than 8yrs old or has over 100,000 miles on it if it gets damaged in the wash they are not responsible!! I know after going through the wash I noticed a small ding on the hood of my 2006 explorer. Of course they denied it and I asked to see the video they would not let me. They would only send me a screen shot where in my opinion nothing is visible. If your car is older you have no recourse!! Another example of corporate greed and the middle class getting stepped on. Needless to say I will never go back and you the paying public should be aware of this!! In all fairness to them they said this was posted on a small sign.
