Gateau MJ Dessert Shop must be a hidden gem as it's tucked away inside BBQ 21. Although the name is still something I'm confused about, It's honestly probably the better part of the food hall in my opinion. Since the space was once a KBBQ place, there are many tables to pick from where you can sit anywhere if you need to do some work, eat a quick bite, or just hang out comfortably with a group of friends! It was hot during my visit so I wanted to try their Dalgona Latte and one of their sweets. I got their Strawberry Fresh Crème Cake and thought it was the perfect choice to go along with my drink. The Dalgona Latte is something you'll have to patiently swirl your drink around, the Dalgona is coffee that must be beaten up so it dissolves in the latte creating a nice balance of Coffee and Milk once mixed. It is extremely enjoyable once you drink it but overall I liked it. The Strawberry Crème Cake is also enjoyable too; the sweetness from the cream ( I think it's buttercream ) and the strawberries compliment each other so well and it's just a delightful dessert to have. I honestly wanted more dessert but I had to save room for the other portion of BBQ 21! Overall, this is definitely a must visit. Located inside the BBQ21! I think BBQ21 used to be a kbbq place turned into a mini food hall! I think Gâteau used to be a stand in the grocery food court next door, and now became a part of this lil food hall. The space is super nice and has a clean, cozy aesthetic! It's the type of space perfect to meet up with friends, do some work, solo eat, etc. We tried their mango fresh cream cake and tiramisu, which were surprisingly yummy and NOTTOOSWEETwhich I lovee. I also tried some of their cookies, the biscoff and green tea cookies. Their biscoff cookie is a must try, probably one my new favorite cookies! Would definitely come back to try their bingsoo - the group next to us got the melona bingsoo and it literally came in a melon and with a melona pop! What a new hidden gem! So glad I discovered it during my visit to VA. It is inside of BBQ221. The place was very aesthetically pleasing. The ramen bar is such a cool concept. They have other food options on the menu including omurice as well. I came here for their desserts. The cheese/ritz cookie was so buttery, cheesy, moist and delicious! So unique! The last time I had something this good was in Korea. It's so rare to find a cheese cookie like this. I bought all that was left and brought them back for my siblings to try. They loved it too. Make sure you refrigerate your cookie if cannot finish it in one sitting though. It does go bad quick. The bingsoo was fluffy and not too sweet. Wish it had a bit more condensed milk. The red velvet cookie wasn't as moist but still decent. Good and quick service. Lots of bakery selection. I miss this place already! read more

We stopped here after dinner with my family for some dessert. It was a cool space with multiple little food counters/restaurants inside. Very cool concept with plenty of seating! We ordered a few desserts and baked goods, all of which were pretty solid. What blew me away the most was the service though! They were so kind from the get-go. I noticed that some of the breads were half off so I was asking them what flavors each of them were, and they were very patient and answered all of our questions. Then later, as we're sitting down eating, about 30 mins before close, they went around with breads and ask us if we wanted some for free! They went around and asked everyone at the restaurant. These days with most restaurants feel more comfortable throwing away food rather than giving it away to those who want/need it. This was so refreshing to see!! They won my entire family over! I will definitely be going back and trying more desserts from here, especially the shaved ice (bingsoo)! read more

We came on a Saturday evening and we're treated to two performers, one singing Christmas songs and the other playing them on the violin. The bakery treats were delicious. Tried out the tuna and spicy pork kimbap along with a sample of their veggie croquet. Each of the kimbaps were about $10 each and were reasonably portioned, well rolled and had good ratios and flavors. Very good for something already pre-packaged. Small cups of flavorful soup were provided with the kimbap. The soup tasted somewhere between a miso-fish cake broth. Service was very good. The bingsoo was so good! The ice was light yet flavorful. I especially appreciated how the ice was flavored instead of it just being plain old ice. They gave lots of strawberries and mochi too!
