Highly recommended! Ordered the gluten free chocolate raspberry cake from Sam the day prior. It was stupendous and well worth it. If you are looking for a dessert to impress at your next gathering at home or work, Sam is your guy. The cakes (which can also be ordered as mini individual sized options) are CRIMINALLY good. I use the work criminal since there is no true storefront for this place since it leads you to a townhouse community. You text Sam at the number listed, he sends you back an email for online payment, and once the order is ready you receive a text indicating it is ready for pickup from an outdoor refrigerator located outside the aforementioned townhouse unit, much like picking up a stash of cash/drugs at an unspecified dropoff location in Grand Theft Auto. Just go on the website to browse the options of cakes which taste as delicious as they are visually stunning. I can attest that the strawberry passion mousse cake and the classic black forest cake are light and airy, not overpoweringly sweet, and the individual components of chocolate, fruit, and cake are high end restaurant quality. If one were planning a heist, usually you need a wheel guy for the getaway, a hacker guy to break into the security system, a conman to talk your way into the location, and occasionally a gunman/strongman in case plans go awry. Good to know I now have a dessert guy to add to my contact list whenever I wish to pick up an amazing dessert like illegal contraband and leave my party starting rumors which high end restaurant I must have frequented to obtain such a showstopping steal. read more

This website and place are rather unique. It requires a bit of trust because the order process is online and through phone conversations but the cakes are out of this world! The cakes are decadent, light, full of flavor and not overly sweet. The texture is to die for. I ordered the tiramisu cake. Very European in delivery and taste! I will only buy my cakes from here! Amir and Sam continue to exceed expectations for beautiful presentation and very good pastries that I get for my husband for his birthday and other special occasions. I don't often indulge but will have a bite and the Chocolate Passion and the Strawberry Passion are my two favorites. I did share a couple with my hair dresser and she loved the special treat! I ordered the Strawberry Mousseline for a retirement party I threw last week and it was a BIG HIT!!!! Sam was professional and oh so accommodating! The cake was decadent, light and just great on the sweetness. This is the first bakery I've come across in the area that actually specializes in "chiffon" cakes. We needed a Tiramisu birthday cake and Sam was great at recommending a size for 10 people. The process for ordering, payment, pickup and timing was smooth and simple. We picked the cake at the arranged time from the refrigerator outside a residential area with my name labeled on it. The best part, the cake was incredible. TL;DR: need a cake??? You've come to the right place. But you will not just get any, ordinary cake: you'll achieve self-actualization, become that cool guy at social gatherings, taste the rainbow, learn to love again, cure the occasional lady/man period, vizualize songs, and believe in humanity. The search is over. Detailed review: Tried their chocolate delight the first time today. The taste and the service was phenomenal especially for the price. The chocolate delight with little gold leaves was rich, and chocolatey. It was like taking a bite of chocolate truffle. The sponge cake wasn't squishy or spongey, it was more soft and melt in your mouth-It goes really well with the yummy, chocolate glaze it's covered in. Also it's not diabetes-sweet like too much frosting or a spoonful of white sugar and butter. Its sweet like a swiss chocolate or high-end fudge. Albeit, I couldn't taste the gold-i don't think I was suppose to. Anyways if you wanted to taste the gold, pick it up and try it yourself bc it gets lost in the chocolate (which is not a bad thing!!). Packaging and presentation is a 5/5. They even precut the cake. Also the cake is delicate, it's really easy to mess up when you start picking it up. The person handling this cake did a truly amazing job making sure it got to the house in it's best form. The delivery fee was only $5 (Fairfax). If I could give more stars for the service I would. I spoke with Amir over the phone. He was really down to earth, he told me about their new customer promotions (I got $5 off a 10 inch cake), he delivered the cake the same day I ordered, and he helped me out when I was having trouble with the payment system online. (They care for their customers). He was telling me about having a store front soon which will have cakes on display. Really try this bakery out. Especially if you want to impress friends or families. And don't flag this post thinking it's fake-its not. I'm just so happy I finally found a bakery that is just the right price with a quality, taste and service as good as this one. read more

Amir made our wedding cake and it was AMAZING! He made us the white chocolate truffle cake. We asked for some design modifications and he made it just the way we wanted. But most importantly the taste.. it was so good! So moist and not too sweet and with the tartness of the raspberries... wow. We couldn't have asked for something better! Wegmans used to make a cake very similar to this but they don't make it any more. So when he recommended this cake to me I knew it was the one. Thank you Amir for such an amazing dessert! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Ehsan Sam A.

Ehsan "Sam" Azizi, born in Geneva, Switzerland, and schooled at the French culinary school, L'Académie de Cuisines, he has had the privilege of learning from some of the best French chefs in the industry. Under the guidance of culinary greats like White House Executive Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier, chocolatier extraordinaire Jacques Torres, G.J. Bellouet, and Dominique Leborgne (now deceased; former owner of Washington, D.C.'s Le Palais du Chocolat) Sam has truly become a master of the art. For a couple of years after graduation he worked as a Sous-Chef at the Old Angler's Inn, a high scale French Restaurant in Great Falls area. For the next ten years Sam worked at the Palais de Chocolat as a Pastry Chef Assistant and two more years as a Pastry Chef. With 35 years in the food industry, Sam started his own pastry business and spent 12 more years focusing exclusively on catering for high-end restaurants.

For Valentine's Day, the Linzer sugar cookie filled with raspberry jam was delicious! So glad I grabbed the last one by 11am on Saturday! For Mother's Day, there were colorful macaroons. All of the fillings with the donuts and croissants are whipped and pretty light. There's a parking garage next door and you can get parking validated for 1 hour. The Hainan chicken place is closed and that empty space looked like a ghost town with trash. The bakery and the juice shop were both closed. Nothing enticing is left out for customers to buy (usually after closing they left out some good stuff; you take them and pay at the main check out counter). Even worse, the normally lively Hot Deli place was also closed. Nothing! Only a few sad looking, pathetic randomly packed lunch boxes out front (for self check out). 99 Ranch does not close until 10 pm. Everything should stay available until then.

Whew! I have never been a fan of white chocolate as it always tasted 'chalky' to me; however, Sam's White Chocolate Truffle cake totally blew that out of the water! It had a thin layer of raspberry filling that had the perfect blend of slight tartness that totally complimented the incredibly rich, smooth creaminess of the white chocolate in between the cake layers....wow. There was a also slight tartness that the bottom crust was enveloped in, that matched perfectly with the raspberry filling. Not only were the huge white chocolate shavings on top a complete feast for the eyes, but just these chocolate shavings alone, surpassed my dreamy expectations of what I would WANT a white chocolate indulgence to taste like! My boyfriend surprised me with a chocolate cake for Valentine's Day and we still reminisce about it being the best chocolate cake we've had to date. As a person who LOVES fluffy AND moist cakes, let me tell you that this cake meets both criteria. Usually moist chocolate cakes tend to be dense and heavy. The creaminess of the cake was not overwhelming chocolate taste but just the right amount. Overall, we would definitely order from here again. Each of those cakes looked beautiful but always fell short on taste so we thought either a cake can be beautiful or taste good. I have had many, many cakes in this lifetime and none have come anywhere close to what these cakes taste like. Flavor AND texture are absolutely the best. Visually amazing as well, the small details and working with you on a creative way to execute even a complicated theme or favorite item is like magic. I am critical/detail oriented and even I was impressed. I am not sure that any baker could match, even those that you see on TV. We have gotten cakes for my daughter's first birthday (was almost as tall as my 1 yr old), a friend's 40th b'day cake and a bridal shower as well. Once I contacted because I just had to have her cake but alas...she was booked.

Because of poor planning and stupidity, I didn't have a chance to meet Linda at her home-run business let alone sample her offerings, so I had to rely on discussing my requests by phone, recommendations from theknot.com and Bonnie McDaniel from Sweet Christina's and PMs from fellow Yelper Donald P. (thanks for your all your help). I was specifically looking for a square amaretto cake with white frosting. While some bakers advertised having this options on their websites, a lot of them ended up not offering them. Cakes by Linda was one of the few that actually did. And I tell you, she did an excellent job coming pretty close to what my wedding cake actually was. The frosting was sugary gritty sweet and not too sickeningly buttery like most buttercream frostings. While the cake was denser than what I had, it made it up for the right level moistness and the intense amaretto flavor the hubs had a taste for. It might even be safe to say that the amaretto flavor was more intense than our wedding cake. Linda did a great job and both my husband and I were impressed the great job she did. Very reasonably priced for what I got, and I'd highly recommend her for delicious special occasion cakes.
