This is in a shopping center but is kind of hidden, you have to walk into what looks like a dead end to get to a couple of the shops there, including this small bakery. I was surprised, though, by how large the selection as relative to the size of the storefront. As the name suggests, the selection of pastries was weighted heavily towards tropical fruits, and while I'm not normally a cheesecake person, trying the guava cheesecake was an interesting experience, and it was as rich as you'd think, but the light fruit flavor provides a nice balance to the experience. Dairy-free customers won't find a ton in the baked goods, but they did have a cooler of frozen tropical fruit bars for sale, as well as beverages. They are not open seven days, which is fair enough if that's what works for them, but that's the only reason I didn't try them sooner. read more

I was lucky to receive a gift box from a friend so I was able to sample some treats! Everything was delicious and not too heavy. I especially loved the cheesecakes, they were light and airy but still very flavorful. I can't speak much of the service and ambience but my friend said they threw in a chocolate chip cookie for free in the gift box, which I thought was very sweet. So sad to hear that the business is closing and hoping to see a return in some capacity. Nonetheless I'm grateful I got a chance to try it before it's gone! read more

Cute little bakery, no seating fyi. Love the variety and unique flavors of their goods. I got the yuzu mojito cookie and a slice of their cake. The yuzu cookie was pretty good, the outer parts were more hard and crumbly but the center was soft and had white chocolate that added more flavor. I loved the center and I wish the whole cookie had been like that. The cake was great, the cake it self is more dense and could be more moist but the additions of the dulce de leche, the guava and especially that silky Italian meringue made it a delicious bite. Gosh this bakery is so delicious! So delicious I went three times in two weeks. Whoops I found this spot on IG and saved it until I had a chance to go to Fairfax. This place is a hidden gem! It's cute inside and the staff are also so nice, friendly, and welcoming. The cheesecakes are amazinggggg! Some of the best cheesecake in this area. Saw a video about Guava on Instagram and had to check it out! This is a family owned small business and man it did not disappoint. We stopped by on a Sunday at about noon and they had already run out of their guava croissants and other savory treats - goes to show you how popular this place must be! Savory: we were able to try their gluten free empanadas made from yucca with a chicken filling and a beef filing! These empanadas were delicious! We had never had a yucca made empanada and were super happy with the flavor and texture! Sweet: We tried the passion fruit cheesecake and the passion fruit really comes thru! It was the perfect size and the crust was a perfect balance. The consistency of the cheesecake was perfect and I would absolutely get this again. Coffee: we asked for a coffee recommendation and tried the café de bombón, prepared with oatmilk. Bomb! It had the power of a cuban coffee without being too sweet. Service: Superb! We were curious to just try something different and one of the owners explained the different types of coffees, shared their favorites of the sweets, and told us more about the other treats they make. So much buzz about this bakery that I had to go check it out myself. It's a small shop hidden in a tiny shopping center in Fairfax. The one thing that caught my attention was the Coconut Rum Tres Leches. That was what I wanted and boy is it delicious. You can taste the rum and the cake was super moist. Dominican owned bakery in Virginia! I'm so happy for this establishment. The woman who greeted me was so welcoming and very nice. She asked how our day was and even asked if it was our first time. We were so amazed by the different type of pastries they had. The place is so small and cozy. There's 2 chairs in the corner of the store for waiting. I got the coconut rum tres leches and it was out of this world. So flavorful and decadent. I could've bought 2! The guava cheesecake was also very delicious. Thank you Yelp for another 5 star recommendation. This bakery showed up in my recommendatios feed and I was there within 30 minutes! It's described as a Dominican bakery. I love anything Dominican, the food, the music....so I had to try this bakery and see what it was about. It's located in the Strykers Square Shopping Center, in the shopping alley, around the corner from Fairfax Circle. Finding it can be a pinch tricky. After parking, I gave them a call and they described where they were located. Once you're inside, you're welcomed with pleasant and modern decor. The owner welcomed me, we chatted and asked had I had their traditional Dominican cake? I had not, so I got a slice. It had a light icing on top, guava in one layer and dolce de Leche or like a carmel in the other layer. It was fantastic. I also got the coconut tres leches and a blondie with guava. I took a few pictures and had the desserts to go. I sampled everything at home and they were each amaaaazing!! I enjoy speciality bakeries. I certainly hope we can get more diversity in Fairfax and start having more Dominican restaurants and food. That's would be great. I found Guava on Yelp and am always looking for Latin and Caribbean pastries, empanadas, and eats. Came here one day and tried the empanadas which are super tasty. Well worth the drive out to Fairfax, Guava is now the go-to bakery for my partner and I. We are definitely both suckers for Latin flavors-- especially-- in pastry form, but this bakery really blows it away with their large selection (cookies, cakes, croissants!) and high quality. Good things come in small packages! Guava is a tiny family-owned bakeshop that is dishing out some of the most authentic, unique, and fun Latin-American goodies in the DC area! I stopped by to pick up some treats s and was so impressed with their chic space and vast selection of pastries sure to please every taste palette. The chef / owner Vanessa was very friendly and helped steer me in the right direction. Her father was whipping up some fresh cakes in the back and the air smelled absolutely heavenly. I brought home a slice of Dominican cake with pineapple filling, a guava and cheese roll, guava-filled empanada, alfajores and a cafe con leche for good measure. Everything I had was absolutely rich and delicious but the guava and cheese rolls were our favorite! Who needs Portillo's when you can support a locally-owned business right here? The owners are very friendly and so excited for you to try their creations; Ive already been twice! As soon as you walk in you're hit with a delectable sugary buttery goodness aroma. Absolutely fantastic treats here! I heard about this place from Facebook and finally took the trek over here. I got a 6 pack of cupcakes: -Vanilla & Dulce de Leche -Chocolate & Hazelnut -Funfetti -Guava I also got some salted caramel brownies and alfajores. Everything was so delicious, and Ivan (the owner) was so nice! The location itself is right next to Hot Spot Hot Pot, and plenty of parking. The bakery itself is also super clean! There's a lot of nice decorations and accessories that you can also get for your pastries. DEFINITELY check this place out if you're in the area! I am ELATED to write this review because guys, we have a legit Dominican bakery in NoVA, and they're serving straight fire! Look, I grew up between NYC and Florida, where I had regular access to Dominican cake and it's one of the things I miss most since moving away. My husband actually found this bakery and I didn't even second guess ordering cupcakes from them for my baby sprinkle. I wanted a little gift for my guests, and NONE of them had ever had Dominican cake, but they were all so excited about them! I ordered two dozen cupcakes, which they customized for me a bit by putting them in individual boxes, which they also tied cute little ribbons on. I was so happy they were willing to accommodate my custom request because I wouldn't have time to put them in boxes. I ordered dulce de leche, pineapple and guava filled cupcakes, and EACHONEWASFIRE My hubby picked up the cupcakes and met the owner who was also so sweet to him as well. I'm so happy this small business is in NoVA, and will be back soon for more. I'm also planning on using them for work events. My coworker wouldnt stop raving about this place so on a rainy day I hauled my kids to find this place. Its tucked in the strip mall where Hot Spot is and was a bit confusing to find because there wasnt a sign on the building. The inside is super cute with a lot of goodies. Believe the reviews! We drove over an hour after I scoured the internet looking for quality Latin bakeries. It's a little hole in the wall place that packs a HUGE punch and we WILL take the trek there again! We got some guava cheesecake, dulce de leche and guava cupcakes, chocolate caramel brownie and guava blondie, and the passionfruit and key lime tarts. Everything was delicious. EVERYTHING! Everything was simply delicious! I am Dominican and knowing I was able to find this wonderful bakery it's like heaven to me. From the desserts to the baked goods, tequeños, ricotta and spinach pastry and the chorizo pastry were so good and very fulfilling. Their service was top notch. Sadly, I could not take a picture of everything we bought, but will surely drive the hour it takes me to get there to try more of their desserts and coffee.
