    Guava blondies

Guava Bakery is everything you could ever hope for in authentic artisanal Latin American desserts and treats - it's immediately evident that fresh quality ingredients are a priority for Chef Vanesa, Ivan, and their wonderful team. The guava and cheese croissants are next-level dreamy and my whole family is obsessed with the guava blondies and alfajores! I recently (finally!) tried the Dominican cake with guava and dulce de leche filling - my goodness, it was absolute perfection. Thanks, Guava - and see you again muy pronto!

Gosh this bakery is so delicious! So delicious I went three times in two weeks. Whoops I found this spot on IG and saved it until I had a chance to go to Fairfax. This place is a hidden gem! It's cute inside and the staff are also so nice, friendly, and welcoming. The cheesecakes are amazinggggg! Some of the best cheesecake in this area. I always come and get the guava, passion fruit, and dulce de leche cheesecakes. I got the coffee one once, but haven't gotten it again. Wasn't my favorite to have a whole piece. The passion fruit is out of this world! The flavor is amazing. It's definitely my favorite one, but they're all so delicious you cannot go wrong. Can't wait for my next visit!

Saw a video about Guava on Instagram and had to check it out! This is a family owned small business and man it did not disappoint. We stopped by on a Sunday at about noon and they had already run out of their guava croissants and other savory treats - goes to show you how popular this place must be! Savory: we were able to try their gluten free empanadas made from yucca with a chicken filling and a beef filing! These empanadas were delicious! We had never had a yucca made empanada and were super happy with the flavor and texture! Sweet: We tried the passion fruit cheesecake and the passion fruit really comes thru! It was the perfect size and the crust was a perfect balance. The consistency of the cheesecake was perfect and I would absolutely get this again. Coffee: we asked for a coffee recommendation and tried the café de bombón, prepared with oatmilk. Bomb! It had the power of a cuban coffee without being too sweet. Service: Superb! We were curious to just try something different and one of the owners explained the different types of coffees, shared their favorites of the sweets, and told us more about the other treats they make. Overall it was a super positive experience and loved supporting this small business! Definitely go check them out!

So much buzz about this bakery that I had to go check it out myself. It's a small shop hidden in a tiny shopping center in Fairfax. The one thing that caught my attention was the Coconut Rum Tres Leches. That was what I wanted and boy is it delicious. You can taste the rum and the cake was super moist. Thank goodness they are not close to me or I would be stopping by every week. I didn't get anything else, but everything there looks amazing. Owners are super nice too!

Dominican owned bakery in Virginia! I'm so happy for this establishment. The woman who greeted me was so welcoming and very nice. She asked how our day was and even asked if it was our first time. We were so amazed by the different type of pastries they had. The place is so small and cozy. There's 2 chairs in the corner of the store for waiting. I got the coconut rum tres leches and it was out of this world. So flavorful and decadent. I could've bought 2! The guava cheesecake was also very delicious. I want to come back and try their Dominican cake. I would highly recommend this place if you want to try a new bakery! A+++

I found Guava on Yelp and am always looking for Latin and Caribbean pastries, empanadas, and eats. Came here one day and tried the empanadas which are super tasty. I tried the beef and it was so flavorful. I also got a cupcake that was topped with meringue icing. It was so tasty. The Alfajores are also yum! They have cakes, pastries, and are so unique. So glad this place is around. I highly recommend to stop by and try!

Thank you Yelp for another 5 star recommendation. This bakery showed up in my recommendatios feed and I was there within 30 minutes! It's described as a Dominican bakery. I love anything Dominican, the food, the music....so I had to try this bakery and see what it was about. It's located in the Strykers Square Shopping Center, in the shopping alley, around the corner from Fairfax Circle. Finding it can be a pinch tricky. After parking, I gave them a call and they described where they were located. Once you're inside, you're welcomed with pleasant and modern decor. The owner welcomed me, we chatted and asked had I had their traditional Dominican cake? I had not, so I got a slice. It had a light icing on top, guava in one layer and dolce de Leche or like a carmel in the other layer. It was fantastic. I also got the coconut tres leches and a blondie with guava. I took a few pictures and had the desserts to go. I sampled everything at home and they were each amaaaazing!! I enjoy speciality bakeries. I certainly hope we can get more diversity in Fairfax and start having more Dominican restaurants and food. That's would be great. I enjoyed checking out this bakery and I will come back from time to time or to order a special cake for a celebration or for a birthday. Highly recommend!!!

a little hidden gem in the city of Fairfax near where the hot spot is. This shop is located in the corner so it's hard to see but look for it because you won't regret it. Parkings are big and plenty. The store is very small but cute. They have 2 chairs and one table. Their display and menu are very organized and not overwhelming. The owner and her husband and staff is super nice, greeted us with smiles. - Guava empanadas are something I have not seen or try and as soon as i try it, i love it, very unique and different. - We also had a chance to try it l believe is their guava croissant, perfectly made, a little crunchy, freshly made and have a little fruity filling inside - The passion fruit cheesecake is to die for, it is so good , I ordered one for thanksgiving friendgiving. Everything we try we love. Will always be ine of my favorite shop for latin pastries!

Such a tiny yet delightful cafe hidden in northern Virginia. I loved visiting here for my birthday - I was searching for a good flan and found this place through Yelp. Everything on the menu is exquisite! We had the cheesecake, tiramisu, the iced coffee, and empanadas and every bite was delicious. I also loved how attentive and friendly the folks at the counter were - patient as we chose what we wanted. Cannot wait to come back!

    7 inch guava cake

I ordered a 7 inch Guava cake on Saturday for a Sunday pick up. From the initial phone call to pick up, the staff was so polite & welcoming. It's a small but cute bakery tucked into a small shopping center, absolutely worth every single mile I drove. We LOVED the cake & will definitely make the drive to try other yummy treats I saw in the window! HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/10

Visited here for the first time in search of a Mother's Day cheesecake in May 2024. I was delighted by the cafe con leche and excellent quality of the various cheesecakes on display. The attentive service was also a plus here. It has a pleasant ambience and almost feels like you have entered somebody's home. I think it's worth a trip to Fairfax Circle if you're seeking a cheesecake for a loved one!

Cute place! Super quaint and a true "hidden-gem". Not pictured but I went to try their grave and cheese croissant, super flakey and buttery with a rich tropical flavor. I would try it again but with a hot drink. The tequeno was flavorful. Very friendly and nice! Great music and love seeing a Latina owned bakery in the area.

The purple Ube…read moreice cream and green coconutty Pandan ice cream twist is our favorite and love topping it off with Oreo crumbles or sprinkles, and let's not forget the Ube wafers and Taikayi waffle cones! The flavors rotate seasonally with different combo twist flavors and there's now a Mini 6 oz option as well as the 9 oz classic option with unlimited toppings! There are interesting seasonal flavors that are fun to try: - Honey Dew & Guava Cheesecake Twist - The summer flavor and sweetness of the honey dew complemented the exotic guava cheesecake flavor. - Sticky Mango Rice and Matcha Twist - While I enjoyed both flavors while the savoriness of the matcha helped balance out the sweetness of the Mango, they didn't pair that well together. I would get the Matcha separately and pair with Oreos and chocolate. - Peach Honey Goat Cheese - My favorite summer! The unique flavor is complex with a bit sweetness and a touch of savory. You can taste all of the ingredients. - Sakura: The pink cherry spring flavor wasn't that sweet and a bit tangy. - Kyoto Taro Cheesecake: A great combo of Taro and Matcha Cheesecake twist that's not too sweet and flavorful Ube Cheesecake flavor - A bit bland with a subtle cheesecake flavor. - Watermelon Basil - Fun flavor to try and tastes like a sour watermelon jollyrancher. It pairs well with the Peach Honey Goat Cheese flavor. - Black Sesame - Grey, savory flavor with a hint of bitterness. - Cookies and Cream flavor is a bit bland. - Classic Ube & Pandan Twist: I always resort back to my favorite default sweet and coconutty flavor. The Taikayi waffle cones are delicious. As the stuffed Taikyai is quite decadent, getting it hollow without any filling is the best way to go with the ice cream. Any type of filling with the ice cream becomes overload of sweetness. The Wicked Pandan Float (from the glass cooler) was delicious with layers of green coconut Pandan cheesecake custard pudding on a bed of Oreo Crumbs drizzled with salted caramel dulche leche. All of the flavors pair well together. I wasn't a fan of the Ube Dulce Leche or the Ube Oreo Floater. The Ube custard was a bit bland and didn't like the jelly topping. Skip the floats in the cooler and head straight to order the ice cream! Sign-up with the app and you can score deals and discounts via text and get notified of new flavors and when some flavors retire. My kids and I enjoyed love coming here and sharing a fun sundae! We came here a dozen times during the summer. There's both indoor and outdoor seating.

That said, the portions can be a bit overwhelming after a while, so I usually order the small size or split a signature with someone. Ordering is easy since everything is done through the kiosk at the front, which gives you plenty of time to customize your dessert without feeling rushed. The only downside is that there can be a bit of a wait before your order is ready, especially when it's busy. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other desserts. One tip: if you've never had pandan before, this probably isn't the place for your first introduction. The pandan flavor is quite bold and can be an acquired taste.

Wife and I sat at the Chef's Counter for a truly wonderful meal last night. The menu is exceptional, five courses, several with two options, and the progression was just perfect. We really loved all of the dishes, but for sure the ravioli with wild asparagus and ramps is one I will remember for a long time. The octopus was also a memorable dish, and the poussin was complex, layer after layer of flavor and the salt level was so good...just perfect food, perfectly executed. Oh, and shout out to the owner's dad, who is in his 90s and makes the bread, a rich sourdough, served warm, that has a 50 year old starter at its essence. Yum. We did the wine pairings and I def recommend. Some really good wines, curated from small vineyards globally, matched perfectly and well presented. The sommelier nailed it. We also just loved the service. Nice touches pre arrival, they are expecting you when you arrive and there's a lovely personal touch and welcoming feel. The ambience is warm, and you can hear and talk and it does feel like you're at a dinner party with friends and family. Finally, shout out to the chefs and servers. Knowledgable, conversational, and charming. We really enjoyed the Chef's Counter and the entire experience. Kudos to Chef Jon Krinn and his family for creating this masterpiece of a restaurant. It is Michelin star worthy, and we cannot wait to go back.

And honestly, they pulled out all the stops for their recent New Years Eve dining experience - I'm talking caviar, white truffle, A5 wagyu, a custom cocktail (because they know I like gin and yuzu) and a painfully decadent dessert - What a way to send out 2025! I mean, honestly, the meal was exquisite and so perfectly executed. Each dish is crafted with a passion and care for food that absolutely shines. I mean the Foie Gras (sp??) - I don't even really like the stuff, put the way they sauteed it, put it on top of some sort of savory cake and slathered it with this balsamic gastrique - it was like bacon and pancakes smothered in maple syrup just amplified to 100. Bottom line: I would eat this every day (and amplify my weight by 100 too). The snow crab, I don't know if it's the care in selecting the product or the techniques used to prepare it (probably both ), but they packed so much crab flavor into that dish! And the dark chocolate cheesecake, it was magic that can make something so dark, so bold, so rich feel so light when you are eating it. This was just one specific meal here, but I am surprised and delighted every time we get the privilege to dine at Elyse. It's not just the food, it's the atmosphere and the attention of the staff. There's also gorgeous seating outside since it can get crowded. For food, you order from the front and they'll call you when the food is ready. We ordered the dubai gelato and pistachio lokmas. Both were presented tastefully to make sure our eyes and cameras wanted to eat before our stomachs. The dubai gelato was a quality dessert with a good ratio of milk: cream. The pistachio flavor was evident on top, but it was just a kinda tart vanilla ice cream with toppings. I did like it, however, and it paired well with the lokmas. The lokmas were fried to perfection, a nice amount of chewy, and covered with a good ratio of pistachio cream. They were a decent size and conducive to sharing. The prices of everything, overall, was pretty expensive, but the quality definitely made up for it. I'd recommend this cafe to someone looking for a unique sweet treat, catching up with a group of girl friends of 2-4 people, or for a first date!

Stopped in for breakfast on our way to a hike and loved this place. Super cute atmosphere with lots…read moreof seating, and everyone working there was really nice. I ordered an almond milk latte and the avocado toast without feta. The avocado toast was SO good, the avocado tasted really fresh and they used the perfect amount of balsamic vinegar. Also loved that they had packets of hot sauce available. My son got a bagel with cream cheese and my partner got a bagel with butter and jam plus a chai latte. Only note is that the bagel came with a ton of cream cheese, so if you don't like it piled on, I'd recommend asking for light cream cheese. Overall we really loved it and would definitely come back when we're in the area again!

This place is a lovely spot! My friend and I first stumbled upon it while trying to find a cafe to…read moresit and catch up, and I loved it so much I dragged my husband back at a later date. The decor makes you think of what you'd find at an eccentric great aunt's home, but in a positive way. Each area has its own mini aesthetic that contributes to the entire place; in the back are color themed books that give it a more serious look, while upstairs is more whimsical in it's random assortment of chairs and couches. The food is in appealing display cases downstairs. The stand out pastries for me are the tiramisu filled cronuts. Drinks wise, they have the typical cafe fare but excitingly so they also have Colombe on draft which I will always be excited about. I recommend this place to grab a snack and socialize!
