Easily one of the most expensive apartments in downtown salt lake - with the worst management and maintenance. Constantly dirty, and A/C & heating was constantly breaking. It didn't work for over a month in the summer, (I had to go out of town because it was completely ignored) - and the heating wasn't fixed for 3 weeks in the winter (I got sick), and management is beyond rude, and will only be polite to you while you are looking to sign a new lease. Specifically - Zach is the rudest / inadequate person on the team, will dismiss all of your concerns, and treat you like you are an annoyance to the community. He also doesn't know what he's doing on the job, so don't bother. read more

We love living here. We moved in 8 months ago and are so happy with the layout of our apartment, the convenience of the parking garage and valet trash service, and how quiet our apartment is most of the time. Our balcony is above the pool so it can get loud at times but if our windows and balcony door are closed it is amazing how much noise is blocked. Randi, the housekeeper, does a great job keeping the common areas clean and is super friendly and kind. The office staff does a great job too as does the maintenance staff. read more

We lived in this building for 3 years and it was constantly unclean. Poop and trash in hallways and stairwells, algae in hot tub, pool has grime on the tiled sides (and even cockroaches-twice!) from lack of cleanliness and care, broken door handles, holes in the hallway walls, outside the building smells like dog piss because they never wash the sidewalks down. Worst of all, the garage door and fob locks are always broken and left open giving access to the covered parking and inner building. I constantly had to ask the front desk to give a shit, and they would while I was in the front office, but do nothing to maintain the cleanliness of the building. I only ever saw one cleaner and the poor lady was always busy. Check your bill and get it itemized when you check out. They tried to charge us for a carpet cleaning when we left. Odd, because when we moved up a floor they claimed they'd cleaned the carpet. They hadn't, said they'd send someone up, never did, and we cleaned the carpet ourselves since the previous tenant had a dog that peed everywhere. Besides the lack of care for the building, you'll find it loud as there are building under construction around the entire building and will begin working at 7 am every weekday for a year or more. Was our life here awful? Not at all. Gross and annoying at times. BUT, I never, not once, felt that the building manager/staff did enough to make paying $2000 a month (don't forget those hidden parking and trash fees) to live in such a poorly maintained building. read more

Honestly it is truly the best community and apartment complex you can find in SLC and here is an honest assessment: The biggest perk of them all are the front staff. By far some of the friendliest and nicest people ever. I can have a terrible day at work and there warm spirits brighten up the room just about anywhere. I am not originally from Utah. The Resident Service Coordinator and the new property manager Sigifredo are literally amazing. The entire front office are truly some of the most remarkable and optimistic people ever. Have nothing but great things to say about them and the best staff ever so the staff here is amazing, warm, friendly, professional and you can always count on them to make your stay better. The amenities are extremely nice as well. My 1BR has all modern finishes super spacious and tall ceilings which always make for a great time when hosting friends or family. I had the largest 1BR package and I found it extremely spacious. The location is a huge perk you are walking distances to most corporate offices for the working class members and you are one block away from a beautiful sprawling mall the Gateway Mall and one more block from the Vivint smart home arena and a few blocks away from City Creek. There is virtually no major crime in the neighborhood. I have lived in Downtown Los Angeles, French Quarters of New Orleans and Downtown Dallas and this is one of the safest downtowns I have ever lived in. There are police who patrol the area which is super nice because it maintains a safe community but the general area is really safe. There are homeless people around the block but truthfully theyre just minding their own business. At least with my experience I didn't have any major problems or felt unsafe. Cons: None really. Im overall happy with my stay here and I would renew my lease but I am planning on moving back home to Los Angeles. 15/10 best place to live in Salt Lake City. Won't be disappointed. Shout out to hands down the best back-of-house apartment staff in SLC. Chandler, the lead tech, did surgery on my bathroom this afternoon, in some situations the staff would have just said it was "too hard," but not Chandler. He stuck with it and got the problems fixed, even though it probably took his whole day. He truly is the best worker at 505. Okay the people that live here are amazing. If you are just moving short term somewhere and want to live with a fun crowd this might be a good option for you. My boyfriends and I moved here last summer after a different property owned by the same company (graystar) told us we couldn't live there (our original plan) 2 nights before we left. It was super frustrating because we were driving from KC and had our 20 hour trip mapped out and my boyfriend had to start his job the day after we arrived. They told us we could stay at Gateway for only 2 nights while we figured out what to do. They also told us that they would match the price we had for the other place which was the LEAST they could do. I understand that accidents happen but it was insanely late notice and we should've had more time. We ended up deciding we wanted to live in Gateway with the matched price and our studio was perfect except the bathroom was almost unusable. There was a RANCID smell. Like horrifyingly disgusting. I told them we should not have to pay rent until it was fixed and they said no. I said this is not part of the contract we signed you need to come fix this. It was never fixed. We lived for 3 months with no break on rent in a DISGUSTING bathroom. It was hard to even feel clean after showering. The maintenance people were so nice and tried everything but they only came like once a month to fix it when I called them. It was an awful experience. When the maintenance guys said there was nothing left to do I requested to be moved and that request was denied so I said we should not have to pay full rent. That was also denied. When we moved out they sent us a $200 charge for cleaning as repairs which we had to challenge because we left it spotless with nothing out of order. This gets a one star because the pool is nice, it's in a good location, and the people that live there are awesome. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before moving in here. I recently moved here from Las Vegas and my move in here was not ok from the beginning. Yes the staff is extremely nice but the apartment I moved Into was and still is a disaster. My air vents are extremely filthy. They never obviously cleaned them, I have no door on my closet still, and shower head, and door knobs are really loose. I have been here for 4 weeks and the first 4 days, I became really sick to the point I had to go to quick care twice and obviously had respiratory issue and still to this day am sick!! I'm almost positive the filters had something to do with my sickness. Maintenance has been nothing but helpful to me by doing the best they can. They finally changed air filter and pressure washed my patio. Little did I know my next door neighbors have cats and I remember asking the staff if the apartment im in had a car before me which they stated that they thoroughly clean apartments with pet solution or something of the sort. Which I feel did not do Justice. The dog park is disgusting. I think they need to clean or wash it down weekly or something of the sort. I'm sure there are kennel solutions that can help with cleaning that park. Tenants don't pick up after their dogs. It's so bad!!! I want to move out of this apartment because of all the issues here. I had called one of their sister properties but they couldn't assist. For the amount of $$ you pay for a 1 bedroom here is not worth it. I really wish the property mgmt team would step up and fix these issues. read more

Been here for three years now and have loved our stay. Lisa in the management office has always gone above and beyond to service our needs. Love the ammenities here and accessibility to them even during revised hours during COVID. The best part I'd say about living here is how attentive and on-the-ball maintenance is. Everything gets fixed or sorted immediately after a claim is made and always done to perfection. The location is great and close to things and places I need and that's always a plus. Updated security and parking enforcement has been a plus. With the current management here things are starting to get a whole lot better. read more

Moved here in January. First let me start with the pro: * When I moved the leasing agent I dealt with was amazing! The guy manager was also pretty great. * The fitness area is decent. * maintenance tries their best to keep it pretty clean. * Convenience to stores, TRAX, dining. * Like my studio Cons: * The current leasing agents aren't the best. Not bad but not great either. Service could be better. * The walls are thin and I have neighbors from HELL!! With the "Stay at home" order I was already going crazy then add inconsiderate neighbors! I've complained twice now (Which i hate being put in that spot) still NO real efforts to solve the problem has happened. I have 5am wake-up for work and I can NEVER get to bed at a decent time anymore because of my neighbors. I am MISERABLE!!!! Why pay this much and I'm not comfortable or happy in my own home? * Amenities aren't worth the price of rent to me. With my work schedule I pay for trash pick up that I barely use because I'm traveling. Overall? Im not solid on resigning. read more

Do not move here! The property management team is terrible and provide no support when it comes to maintenance. We have entered 1 maintenance request over a 3 year period and cannot get any help. Then, they try and raise rent by $900 per month for a 1 bedroom apartment. I have had two bikes stolen from their "secure bike room" and my car was backed into by another resident and they will not pull the camera footage. On top of all that, I have scheduled two final walk through's with management and they have shown up late 30+ minutes outside of the scheduled time. This is an ongoing theme you hear about when taking to other residents as well. read more

Okay so let me start by saying I looked at probably 30 apartment complexes and Gateway 505 was the only one that checked off all my boxes. Not only did it have everything I was looking for but the customer service was awesome. EMILY is the absolute BEST! She answered all 600 of my questions and made sure we were taken care of. I moved here February of 2020 and I have slowly became more and more frustrated. At first we were given a great deal, the building looked clean, and the amenities were perfect... When we moved here we were given a great price but a month later they sent us a new lease asking us to resign because they had to add parking although when we looked over the new lease and there was not an additional amount added in the parking section, yet the rent had increased. It took the ladies in the office a week to give me a fob to get in property. When you sign the lease you're signing a 25+ page document that only covers the managements' butts. This is supposed to be a smoke free community, LIE. On the lease it states you will be given 24 hr notice before your car is towed, LIE. Quiet hours begin at 10pm and are enforced, LIE. Pool and spa closes at 10pm, LIE. There have been nights when I have woken up at 3am to people diving into the pool and screaming. The cleaning lady is so kind and friendly and really works hard but the tenants here are disgusting and do not clean up after themselves or their animals and point their finger at management. This being said, I have NO IDEA why there are ZERO cameras in our luxury complex. People should be fined for leaving used condoms in the parking garage, beer and liquor containers in the stairwell, and dog shit/piss on the floor and in the elevator. People brings their animals to the pool, glass containers, food, etc and leave their filth everywhere when they decide to leave. We need better security and cameras to regulate our lease rules. We pay enough money, they should have cameras placed in the garages, hallways, community areas, elevator, and The perimeter of the property. This would prevent and decrease cars from getting broken into, homeless sneaking in, and tenants would be held accountable for their actions and their animals' actions. The building should be updated with cameras, new flooring in the hall ways, and a new security system that doesn't blare all night on the weekends. This complex can change a lot by adding cameras and giving fines to those who trash the building and do not follow the rules set in place. The community is disrespectful and rude and the management does not know how to enforce rules. Quarantine at Gateway 505 has shown how disrespectful the tenants are. I plan on moving once my lease is finished. read more
