The only nice thing about this course is the view. It looked neat from the street, but after purchasing tickets they told us that one of the courses was closed. The closed course looked to be the neater of the two courses. The one we had to do was nothing special and definitely not worth the $20 per person price. They didn't even have putting mats to place your balls and a lot of the holes seems to be sloping sideways down the mountain. With a name like Old Mountain Trail course you would think they'd be playing bluegrass or something, but no, they played dance music the entire time. read more

My husband and I had a great time at Galtin's! We were disappointed that Hillbilly Golf was closed for the season, but we happened upon Gatlin's and decided to give it a try. They have two courses that you can play and offer tickets to do one, both, or unlimited! The course was clean and well kept, and the staff was very informative and friendly! The parking on the trip is an obvious issue (very difficult) but if you're staying within walking distance Gatlin's is a no brainer! read more

My partner and I love to do escape rooms whenever we travel. We've done over 50 total thus far. This week we're on vacation to visit the Great Smoky Mountains and while we are here we've done games at most of the escape rooms in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I will definitely say that the three Gatlin's Escape locations have been the best experiences thus far game wise with excellent effects and puzzles/props as well as pretty good story lines. Only negative is that the rooms are not private unless you pay more. Personally we were able to get 3 games today with out anyone else joining our games. We suggest holding off on signing up for the game until you get a little closer to the scheduled time if you want to aim for a private room. All three game masters were great today but special shout out to Alice from the Pigeon Forge location (where we played Kraken's Eye) for being super personable and knowing when to hold clues and when to give them to make it a challenging but not frustrating experience. We've done The Kraken's Eye, the Masters of Magic and Big Maw Bertha's rooms today. Hoping to squeeze in Hyde House and Atlantis before we leave! read more

We brought our volleyball team here to do the Curse of the Kraken we had an unpleasant experience because of the guide we got. However upon complaining about it the employee scheduled another experience for us! They were extremely gracious about it and had excellent customer service, Nate was extremely helpful! Our second room and experience was amazing and the team had a fantastic time! The guides name was Tori and she was excellent so helpful and kind to the team. My best friend and I did two out of our three escape rooms in one day at Gatlins and we had so much fun. The quality of the props, puzzles, and rooms were fantastic compared to other escape rooms in the area. The attention to detail and complexity of the rooms made Gatlins stand out. The first one was the Magic one in The Village. It was amazing. Our game master Josh was great. He was helpful but not overly so. He was friendly and we had great conversation before the game. Unfortunately we did not finish because we got hung up on one of the puzzles but we were oh so close! If we had 5 extra minutes we probably would have been able to finish. This was the second hardest room among the Gatlin rooms. Haunting at Hyde- This was our second one and it was at their main location. Our game master Brandon (Jrandon if he is reading this) was hilarious. We had such a great time joking back and forth throughout the game. We were taking it more lighthearted than trying to prove something to ourselves for finishing quickly. We finished in plenty of time and this one is doable with 2 people who really get along. This would be the medium level of difficulty. All of this to say we highly recommend Gatlin's Escape Rooms, especially compared to some of the more corporate-looking competitors. We can't wait until they open their new location and add more rooms. read more

Lilly, Kayle, and Josh were amazing game masters. They knew the games very well and helped us through our journey of all five games. I highly recommend coming here and doing all their games if you have time. Their set design is very high-quality and the tech is phenomenal. I would say Atlantis was the hardest, followed by Hootenanny. Every game we did had unique puzzles and definitely made our trip amazing. We travel the country doing Escape Rooms and this was definitely one that will stay with us forever. We're looking forward to their newer Pigeon Forge location for the next time we visit. I am reviewing the escape games although they have several fun activities here. These are some of the best escape rooms we have done (out of 50-60) and each was excellent in its own right. High production value, aesthetics, theming and logical progression of the theme, good gm's, novel puzzles, and the appropriate level of challenge. I would suggest more then 2 for Atlantis, but the others are doable with 2. Props if you do Atlantis with 2 without a bunch of hints (they ask beforehand if you want none, traditional, or unlimited hints.). I appreciated that they are flexible based on what the group wants to create the experience for them. This is entertainment after all. We opted traditional and enjoyed the gm's interaction. Following are some thoughts on the rooms. I tried to rank them but that is really difficult. They were all pretty awesome. Masters of Magic - I keep going back to this because of the unique puzzles and some high production value pieces. I think I would have made a great magician after doing this . Hyde House- Awesome horror themed escape room. Some things may make you jump but not overly scary that a kid couldn't do it with you. It was really hard to decide whether I liked this or Magic better. Awesome room Hootenanny - This is unique and a must do because you will not find this elsewhere. Great theming and some unique puzzles. Noise can be a bit of a factor here at one part. Man these are all good games. Kraken - we found it more challenging than they had said. Did this with some first timers and we didn't quite finish. This room didn't disappoint lots of interesting puzzles. Atlantis - Maybe I rate it a little lower because we didn't get out the first time. There were great puzzles but lighting is an issue. It is part of the difficulty of the room but it was sometimes a little annoying. This was stil a very good room. read more

I visited this location on Easter weekend with one other person. These are my thoughts an observations. - The "Do It All" pass is 60ish bucks for 1 escape room, unlimited putt-putt on 3 courses, and 4 other activities. You'll be occupied for hours, possibly all day. - From what I could tell, Gatlin's is not allowing mixed parties for escape rooms. We were put into an 8 person escape room as a two man team. They're do-able with smaller parties if you work efficiently and cooperate. - I would recommend the Masters of Magic room. It has a unique setting and can accommodate large parties well. - The employee running our escape was room was incredibly friendly. - The outdoor putt-putt courses leave a lot to be desired. The mats have wrinkles, meaning your ball won't sit still while you're trying to putt. The courses also lack a theme. - The indoor black light course was interesting, but one hole is almost impossible due to shoddy repairs. It's also 9 holes instead of 18. I'd recommend Gatlin's if you're looking for master class escape rooms or want an all-day experience. I'd pass if you're just looking for putt-putt. read more

We did the Atlantis themed escape room and had a wonderful time! My group has done a lot of escape rooms and we thought this was one of the best we've ever done. We loved the theming and the multiple rooms that you got to unlock. We wanted a challenging room and were told this was their hardest, with an under 20% success rate. Luckily we did escape with a few minutes to spare! We thought it was challenging but it was also a lot of fun, with plenty to do. Our game host was there when we needed her but did not intrude on our game and made sure everyone agreed on using hints before she said anything. There were 5 of us and I think 8 may have been too many. Not sure I'd want to do this one with less than 3 or 4 people. And wouldn't choose this for a first experience. The people at the booking counter were very helpful so definitely ask since they don't post difficulty levels or anything. They have free lockers to hold your things and a single stall bathroom (although there is a public restroom very close by too). read more

My 8yo son and I stopped in to play putt putt and realized it was so much more. We bought the 4 pack of games and played the laser maze, laser tag, and black light putt putt. My son liked the laser game so much we played it again. I wish we had played the outdoor putt putt too because it looked like a lot of fun. Each game we played was in great shape. The staff was friendly and able to explain each game well. We will probably go back today because it's a good value for the amount of time you get playing. Worth a visit. read more

With all the things to do in gatlinburg & pigeon forge - the escape games are a must do! We did one just to kill time & ended up doing a total of 3. We did Haunting at Hyde, Atlantis, and Curse of the Kraken. They were easily some of the best escape games I've ever done. We were able to complete 2/3 with a few seconds to spare with only 3 people. Atlantis you definitely need more people. It's a little pricey, but worth every bit of it. The Haunting at Hyde is my favorite. They have lockers for free for you to put your things in, as well. We will be back to do the other rooms! My only con to this is they have the games on strict schedules and even if they hadn't started it yet, you can't do it until the next scheduled time, so you don't really get to pick the one you do as much as you find one closest to a time that works for you. read more

As someone who has played over 100 rooms I need to preface this review by saying if you love escape rooms or interested in getting into the hobby I can not stress enough how much you need to visit this location. Gatlin's Escapes feature high quality rooms with creative themes and fun puzzles that have been on the upper tier of all the games I've played. All housed in a very fun building with friendly staff with a clear love for the hobby makes this a bucket list location. Before I go in-depth with the games we played I find it noteworthy to mention that Gatlin's has a very unique hint system as they feature two ways to play. Casual mode, offers unlimited hints and lots of friendly nudges so players wanting to play an escape room but are unsure of their skill level should consider this option as you will most likely have the full experience. Traditional mode is your standard three hint system, however you can still ask for more with the only penalty being that your team will not be added to the success percentage. It's a VERY minor setback. The list of games we played Moonshine Hootenanny: Tired of diamond heists, zombies, serial killers and prison escapes? Then ohhhhh boy this room is for you. Out of all the escape games we played during our weekend in Tennessee this was our absolute favorite. Moonshine Hootenanny is just an utter treat to play, clever puzzles, fun tech, a truly different theme and set that you will not find anywhere else and some wonderful "wow" moments that feed in the theme and story. Meanwhile the whole experience was elevated by our GM "Cousin Brandon" who really added that extra kick of Hillbilly flavor Master's of Magic: Usually when an escape room does a magic theme they tend to lean toward Merlin sorcery style or a Harry Potter knock-off, here at Gatlin's the wonderful world of stage magic takes front and center. Gatlin's Escape adversities this as their newest room and it shows as there a larger emphasis toward effects and spectacle (fitting for a magic room) and yes, you actually get to do magic tricks. It's certainly a more linear experience but its still has some great puzzles and I still recommend it. read more

Our first escape room and it was awesome! At the recommendation of the staff, we did the "Big Maw Bertha's Fussin' and a Feudin' Moonshine Hill Hootenanny" (yes, that mouthful is the full name of the room) when we said this would be our first. They suggested it as the best for beginners as it has one of the better completion rates so we went for it. I had no real idea what to expect and was blown away by the production value. The room itself was exceptionally well outfitted and looked like you'd stepped into the holler of the back country onto the front porch of an old shack. Everything about it was designed to draw you in and invite exploration. The puzzles ranged from relatively obvious to head-scratchingly difficult. The host knew we were newbies and was pretty good about jumping in when he saw that we were either stuck or heading down a wrong path (or even trying to solve a puzzle that we were nowhere ready to solve yet). The only downsides were due to my own ignorance of escape rooms - what to look for, that almost everything means something, and how to find and interpret clues. I'd love to go back and try another of Gatlin's rooms now that I have a foundational understanding of what to expect. We finished with mere seconds to spare and we were all thrilled with ourselves for completing the challenge (though admittedly with a significant amount of help). It was almost cinematic as we found the last key handed it off to the next person who went sprinting for the final door. Exhilarating and fun! Expensive, but I would do it again in a heartbeat and would absolutely recommend it as a fun way to beat the heat in downtown Gatlinburg. read more

Omg! The production value on these rooms is phenomenal. Very unique puzzles, quality props, and little surprises around every corner. My husband and I came in from out of town and tried all 5 rooms as a group of 2. Together we have completed over 50 rooms and have escaped all but 5(thanks to this place) Pay attention to the details here... lots of nuances you may miss if you aren't careful. I will say a group of 4 might be helpful. We escaped 3/5 rooms, not making it out of The Kraken or Atlantis. The sheer number of puzzles in these rooms....extra hands would be helpful. Bertha- Great room! Unique theme pertinent to the area. Several different puzzles than we have seen before. We were able to escape as a group of two. Our GM was great. Very helpful when needed. We try not to use clues, but admit it was helpful in this room. Atlantis-Fun room! LOTS of puzzles. We did not escape, but hardly used any clues. I think we only had 1 or 2. Just too many for a group of two. Lots of engaging items though. Magic- Fantastic unique puzzles! Our GM was great here as well. Lots of out of the box thinking. Kraken- Fun room! Another one where 4 is useful. We were paired with another couple doing a room for the first time. We were close, but had about 3 puzzles left when our hour was up. Hyde House- Wow! Sooooo fun! A few scary surprises, but still kid friendly if you have your littles. We enjoyed it and escaped with 12 minutes left. Hard to rate favorites, I think Hyde, Magic and Bertha were pretty epic. Atlantis and Kraken were hardest in our opinion.....but engaging nonetheless. Really all 5 are worth it. read more

Best escape room business in Gatlinburg. Our first escape room about five years ago was Atlantis, and after experiencing dozens of escape rooms across the US, Atlantis remains one of the best. This past week we came back to Dollywood for a family vacation and booked Masters of Magic, their newest game. It was awesome!!!! This room had a bit of everything: clever and challenging clues, appropriately themed but not so abstract that you became frustrated once becoming aware of the solution. Use of electronics was appropriate, not overdone, and seamlessly integrated into the room. They spent a lot on money on this room for sure and the overall production value of the room was outstanding and immersive. What was most impressive is that we had initially booked the haunting of Hyde house, but literally 5 seconds after the door shut my daughters freaked out and we had to exit. I spoke to the Staff and they graciously scheduled us for a masters of magic 20 minutes later. There are many more escape room businesses in Gatlinburg now compared to five years ago. At least one larger escape room chain now has a presence (Breakout Games). We have been to many breakout games rooms too and they are very high quality as well. However, Gatlin games in my opinion has outdone the others and continues to create games of the highest caliber and production value. This game is appropriate for children. read more

We came here strictly to play the moonshine escape room. We did not reserve online. 1st mistake. We waited a painfully long time to get our tickets due to only only person at the outside booth, she was trying really hard to upscale all the upgrades! The staff that we in countered were un friendly. But this is the 6th escape room I've done in the US. and by far was my favorite. So much fun! Our host was also just blah blah blah. Also we showed up early like the staff said to And they started the game 15 minutes late. So were were there for 30 minutes just seating and waiting wondering why. I went with a friend just to entertain the idea of doing the ropes course, but we didn't have a ton of money, and we were both scared of heights and worried we wouldn't enjoy it as much as it costed. We had such a great time at Big Maw Bertha's Hootenanny escape room. We were hoping for Atlantis but it was booked out so we decided on the Hootenanny and were not disappointed. We booked a spot online for 4 people a little over two hours ahead of time with no problem - although it is the off-season in late January. Our escape artist, Brandon, was awesome! Super funny and personable. He was really helpful and on top of it with clues. He did a great job! Two people in our party have worked as escape room employees elsewhere and they were really impressed, as were the rest of us. We left already talking about coming back for another room next time we're in town! read more

We came here for the escape game, it was our first time doing the game so we decided on the haunted house one! It was super fun and our escape tour guide was also very helpful with the clues! So the next day we came back to do the mini golf, and Mark remembered us and upgraded us the six activities package instead of trying to just sell us the mini gold separately (which would've costed us a lot more money). Mark was very friendly, and Nate also helped us recalibrate the lasers for us when we were doing the laser maze. All the activities were fun & enjoyable! Lots of fun activities in one place. Definitely get the 6-activity combo package. One activity is $13.99 but you can get 6 for just $19.99 per person. They have 2 outdoor 18-hole mini golf games and a 9-hole glow in the dark mini golf game. The laser maze is ok, but goes quickly. The best use of your package, in addition to any of the golf games, is the laser tag. 10 minutes of fun running around in a black lit room competing against other players. You will get a work out from this. We did not get to experience the Escape Rooms, but they have three different themes. And they also have a ropes course outside that looked challenging. read more

Did the outside putt putt course.. Horrible. We completed one course very quickly but every "trick shot" was messed up. Balls would get hung up in wooden bridges, the actual greens were way off and ball would not stay flat kept rolling off and every hit ball went straight to corner bc of whole green is tilted down hill. We attempted to do other course hoping it was better, unfortunately we didn't even finish the 18holes.. From what I've heard head to Davey crockets putt putt is top notch. Didn't do any other attractions but bumper cars looked like a joke and there wasn't any staff running the other activities. read more

But there were plenty of openings so felt we would be safe. Arrived 1.5 hours before they were scheduled to close. There were 4 escape room bookings still open. The guys at the front informed me that they decided to close early - Since it was slow. But I'm standing there wanting to give them money to play. No. They said no. They would rather close early and go home. They made sure to give me a brochure so I can come back tomorrow. No thank you. I won't be coming back. I'll be spending my money at one of the other escape rooms in town. Not interested in giving my money to people who are too lazy to work their full shift. Son loved the ropes course. Very challenging. Lots of unique obstacles and it's as long as you want which is awesome. Price wise at first was meh but $18 was well worth it because my son did it for a very long time. This was my first Escape Room. The puzzles were trying but enjoyable. I also like the Laser Tag. I played with my family and it was something my 3 year old granddaughter and I both found fun. We played the outdoor Mini golf course, which is a family tradition and this course didn't disappoint. These were great family activities. This is a bit pricey if you have a lot of kids, but definitely worth the money to get the Gaitlin's Passport. The place is very clean, well maintained, and the staff is so friendly!
