Finally went here! Honestly, the only negative thing is that things aren't very clear. So here's some clarity: -The Gaudinos sauce is NOT vegan -If you buy the bulk salad at $6/lbs, they charge you $12 to eat it in house, but it seems they give you more than a pound. They don't tell you this beforehand. -They do not have cannolis or gelato, despite rumors. -It's very loud in here, not good for a date or private conversation. Now that that's done, let's talk business! The food was spectacular. Fresh, well seasoned, delicious. We loved everything from the wine to salads to my husband's dessert. All very homemade tasting and great quality. The wine choices were spot on, I wasn't into the stemless glass for dining out but eh. The ambiance is spectacular, fresh, modern, very feng shui. I've eaten here three times now, and every time has been fantastic. The room is lively, with wonderful lighting and a centerpiece that's very artistic and pretty to look at. The lighting is perfect for dinner, and you feel like you're in a roadside Café in Italy somewhere with the interspersing of the counter, dining area, and grocery. The staff is terrific, and includes busboys that literally stare at the tables to see what they need to do. You're never going to have a dirty plate on your table for long, and they're very friendly about it. We've tried the pizza, pasta, soups, and desserts, and have never been disappointed. Tonight I went with the spaghetti and meatballs which included a Bolognese sauce, absolutely divine! The first time we went before the grand opening it was awesome! I would have given it 5 stars. However, yesterday I went with my hubby and kids and I was disappointed. I was craving the sweet and hot Italian peppers that come on the Calabrese pizza. Upon our main dishes arrival I noticed banana peppers on the pizza. I took a bite and it just wasn't the same pizza I had before. My hubby called the waitress over and questioned it. She went to speak to the chef and apparently he is having a hard time finding the correct peppers. That's fine, but the waitress should have notified me when I ordered the pizza that it wasn't like the menu states. they don't serve San PELLEGRINO sparkling water (not flavored- regular with gas) only some off brand-didn't taste very good. the margarita pizza was terrible- the crust was tick and doughy, no fresh tomatoes, if there was buffalo mozzarella on it you could not tell as there was so much shredded melted cheese on it. The basil was fine sprinkled shreds, couldn't tell if it was fresh or not. And to top off the pizza dough wasn't cooked. they use of lavazza (good coffee bean) but you can't charge $5 cappuccino when you serve capsule espresso. Bad all around. read more

I called for a pick up order. I ordered what I always order. A skinny Italian shirt b, it always came with turkey, cheese, lettuce, onion and tomato. I got home after picking it up and it had turkey and salami on it. called the restaurant to let them know my order was wrong. The girl put me on the phone with the general manager. I explained what happened and he told me I was wrong, that's how they make it. i explained I had ordered this sub 10 to 15 times and it was just turkey and cheese and asked if they had changed the menu. This is the new hot spot in Saint Clair Shores, and considering we don't ordinarily get "hot spots" this is a welcome addition to the community. Its very busy, so plan on waiting on a table even on a weekday. We came on a Wednesday and the front desk said 15 minutes, which came and went without us seemingly getting any closer to being seated. Since eating somewhere good tends to take a bit longer, no big deal. The bar is first come first serve so when two spots opened up me and the wife swooped in. We tried the charcuterie platter and were very impressed with the quality of the meats and cheeses, its probably better for a party of 3 or 4 though, its a little too much for two people. Drinks were reasonably priced, the bread they served was fresh and tasty, and at the bar they actually offered some crunchies to munch on which were really good (and not available at the normal tables). Plus the seats looked more comfortable than in the dining area. She had the eggplant parmesan and I ordered the gnocchi with a sausage ragu, both of which were excellent. I saw some of the pizzas coming out of the kitchen and they looked amazing. You can just shop there, they have a deli with all the meats mentioned and some high end cheeses and homemade sausage they sell for 3.99 a pound. The interior design is striking, something more akin to Birmingham than Saint Clair Shores. Overall very happy they decided to open shop here, and I hope their business thrives so we see more eateries like this on the east side. read more

Where to go for dinner with a vibrant, enthusiastic, fun 92 yr. old aunt? Guadino's? Yes, a very fine pick (suggested by my aunt who was attending a dinner there for 20 people later in the week). With a little advanced planning (we called to get on the wait list of 40 minutes) we were seated within a few minutes of arrival. A fresh, upbeat setting with tables nicely spaced (bar area, raised table tops, a takeout Italian deli area and regular tables). The dinner menu has the usual categories: pizza, salads, pasta etc. We decided to split our dishes: an antipasto plate (cheeses (2), meats (2), olives, some biscuits and jardinière) and a recommended (by our server Maureen) rigatoni. We ordered two glasses of wine ( 1/2 of a glass for my aunt--she is judicious!)--both the red (merlot) and the white (chardonnay) were nicely priced and good. The antipasto was top shelf. The rigatoni (which came with their own in-house sausage) was wonderful--tasty pasta cooked to al dente perfection. We had a couple of coffees to end the evening and instead of from the dessert menu, we accompanied those with biscotti from the deli. Our server Maureen was top shelf as well. The restaurant is noisy, just encourage your dining partners to voice up. And if you come with a 92 yr. old aunt, you can hear about the lineage of the place which includes making sausage at the location before. Wow! I was incredibly happy to finally try this place. It's only been open a few short months, but they are going everything right! Clean, great staff and an amazing atmosphere! We had the Calamari for an appetizer. Best friend calamari I've ever had! My boyfriend has the Chicken Parmigiana and it was delicious. But, I was the very lucky one to have ordered the Chicken Fioren! Seared chicken on top of two risotto balls with white sauce, since and roasted peppers! I truly cannot wait to go back. So disappointed!! I have supported this restraunt almost weekly with takeout orders since covid started. Their pizza and salads are very good. Unfortunately, we had the worse service tonight. We spent a lot of money and were treated as if we were a total bother. There were five of us and she brought three waters. We asked for 2 more waters . Which we never received. It went downhill from there. I could go on and on. Again, so disappointed In addition we had 1 1/2 hr to eat which would have been fine, except she was SO slow. I had really high hopes for this place as the concept seemed really cool, but we felt let down upon leaving there. This was one of those times where I should have went to Yelp first to read the reviews. The staff and service were good and we had no complaints there, but the food though is where they are lacking. Basically they are a slight step above Olive Garden (which is garbage Italian food IMO) with a more expensive price point. Everything was just bland and lacked all flavor. Even salting my dish didn't help. We started with their Bruschetta which was just diced tomatoes on top of a flatbread crust. The lemon marmalade was almost nonexistent and the basil is served on the side and could easily be mistaken as a garnish. It was pretty dry and could have used either a drizzle of EVOO or Balsamic Vinegar. For my entree I had their Fiorintina which is pan seared chicken topped with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and a white wine cream sauce served over risotto. On paper it sounded amazing, however the chicken tasted like it had been boiled and than flashed in a pan to give it some color. The sun-dried tomatoes and spinach were fine, but the white wine cream sauce was really soupy which made the risotto mushy. The wifey had their Spiedini which was a stuffed pork medallion with asiago, tomato, and onion over roasted summer vegetables. The pork was just decent at best and there was nothing special about the veg. The whole plate looked dry and she confirmed that it needed some type of sauce. In the end I don't think we will be going back or recommending this place to any of our friends. Maybe we just went there when they were having an off day, but based on the other reviews I have read a lot of people said they had the same experience with the food. YMMV though. read more

The calamari was fantastic, but not nearly enough dipping sauce. The olive oil for the bread was not good. Don't offer it if you can't deliver. Butter is fine. The braised short rib pasta was pasta with a great tomato sauce. That's it. For the price point my companion was disappointed. I loved the filet dish. Everything about it was perfect. LOVE this place and can't wait to go back. From the fun and feisty hostess who sat us, to a wonderfully sweet waitress, to the food - it was a great experience all around and I look forward to going back. The hubs and I stopped in on a Friday night and it was pretty busy but we were able to get a table. It was loud but not unbearable. Mix of families and couples - and completely appropriate for both. He had their spicy pizza and said he loved it. I didn't sample because I have sissy tongue. But, I was really pleased with my choice of the white fish. It was cooked beautifully and sat atop some delightful and crispy goodness, which sat atop risotto. Yes, please! An oasis and a rose among thorns in the land of cheap corned beef and mushy Chinese take out, where when discussing food quality "size matters". Fabulous atmosphere, amazing food. They make real carbonara, put arugula on stuff.... cured meats, quality cheeses. I'm not even a Lavazza fan and loved their espresso drinks. Waitress was really nice, and gave us great service, but the food was mediocre at best. The chicken marsala was just a giant plump chicken breast with barely any seasoning, the sauce was lacking flavor and super runny, and it doesn't even come with pasta or potato you have to order that on the side. For the price they are charging for one chicken breast, it should be way better. You can also hear the sound of someone pounding something with a mallet in the back area, while you try and enjoy your dinner... Strangely, they weren't pounding the chicken breast thin apparently.... The Chicken parm was slightly better, that one came with some pasta at least, but it was another big giant plump chicken breast, those are supposed to be pounded thin and usually brined. These tasted like they were not seasoned at all. At the prices they charge, the food should be of higher quality in my opinion. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff was nice, it's just the food that is lacking in my opinion. Salad was dull and boring. Definitely better options for Italian food in our area. read more

The salmon was small portion that looked about 4oz served with 3 pieces of asparagus and a small amount of veggies. The salmon was cheap type of salmon that was very thin. It was dry, dense, over cooked, and very plain tasting. I also ordered a salad rustica that was very good, but my main entree did not hit the spot. I have no eagerness to go back here. Finally decided to try this place out to see if the hype was real. Boy was I sadly disappointed. Opted for carry-or due to the face that our 6 month old daughter does not always make the best dinner date. Menu is very basic Italian, so I opted for the carbonara the husband did his usual chicken parmigiana, and my brother tried out the gnocchi bolognese. We also decided to try the rice balls appetizer and for dessert 3 cannolis and a piece of tiramisu. That put our bill on the whole carry out at $83 which is not bad considering 3 meals, a appetizer, and desserts. Once getting home and unboxing the meals not one came with soup or salad which is expected with Italian and the size/portion of the meals looked of that to feed a small child. My carbonara was no more than 1/4 of your typical styrofoam Togo box consisting of at most 8 decently sized bites of pasta! $16 for basically noodles. The taste was great but it would take 3 plates to fill me up. My husbands chicken parm consisted of 3 tiny almost chicken tender looking pieces of chicken, horribly rubbery, barely able to cut through let alone chew and 1/2 a handful of dry pasta. My brothers gnocchi were decent. The great texture but the meat sauce lacked major flavor. Rice balls were great my favorite part of the meal. You got 3 smaller balls that were crispy outside and cheesy creamy inside! Now for dessert the cannolis ($4 each) were not your basic recipe, the filling was ok but the flavor way off. All I could taste was orange zest/flavor. Yuck Quite disappointed, with what we spent and not coming with soup or salad and taking portions into factor I would not try again. When you think Italian you think large plates of pasta. Sadly that is not the case here. Well I didn't even get the opportunity to have dinner there this evening. Made a reservation, showed up early and they sat us right away. Water was brought to our table promptly. Three different severs walked past our table and didn't even acknowledge us being there. We sat there for about 15 minutes without anyone coming to our table besides the gentleman who brought water. So we decided to leave, told the hostess on our way out the door that we were leaving and she responded "I can come over and help you now" - no thank you, zero service means zero business from me.
