I made reservations for my father's girlfriends 80th birthday. The manager was so accommodating and polite. We came in and they sat us and ready to assist. I had never been to this location before and it was very nice. Im going to go again during daylight so I can see the view. We had a large group so they gave us a special menu and all the sides. We were seated right away by the friendly hostess and were brought water and bread as soon as we sat down. Our friendly and outgoing server (1249 Garmeda) came over and promptly took our beverage order. Upon returning with the beverages she proceeded to take our appetizer (Saganaki) and soup order (both delicious). The dining area is a nicely done open floor with a large horseshoe bar. The first time I ate at the Pegasus was more than 36 years ago when I was an editor for the Detroit Free Press and it was located only in Greektown. I married a Detroiter, and every time we are in town we have to eat there. This time, we tried the St. Clair Shores location because it was closer to our in-law's home. It did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was kinda empty. It has a small up-front enclosed area---where one could have a special gathering---and a big main dining room. The latter wasn't fancy. And surrounded a bar. Our server, Kathy (spelling?), was extremely helpful and very congenial. Hubby and I had to have all our favorites: stuffed grape leaves, cold marinated octopus, saganaki, and braised lamb. He also ordered beef kebabs. My sis- and brother-in-law had spinach pie and chicken kebabs, respectively. The octopus was vinegary, smooth, and still among the best I have ever eaten. The warm grape leaves stuffed with meat and rice were tasty. The salty, lemony saganaki was a perfect topper on our bread. The lamb, and all the meats, were seasoned nicely and were moist and savory. The accompanying oven roasted potatoes were mere perfection. The only thing we weren't crazy about were the string beans. They were well-seasoned but cooked until they were limp and lifeless. I know it's probably the Greek way to cook them, but what a waste of good string beans. Our meal, which included 4 entrees, a salad, 3 appetizers, tax, and tip was $138. And we brought home enough leftovers for two meals. We went to Greece in the spring of 2024 and Pegasus Taverna's food is better than anything we ate there. read more

My husband has been coming to this place since he was young. For me, first time experience. The place is SO EXPENSIVE and SO BAD. We recently visited for my mother-in-law's birthday. The food was good and the space was nice, but unfortunately our experience was overshadowed by our server's presentation. Our waitress had a strong and unpleasant smell--like cigarettes, vape, and a heavy cover-up scent (similar to Febreze). It was really off-putting and made it hard to enjoy the meal. I say this not to embarrass anyone, but because I think it's something the owners would want to be aware of. Absolutely LOVED my experience at Pegasus Taverna. In all honesty I haven't had much exposure to Greek food so I wasn't sure what to expect prior to dining here. But let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised by everything from the service to the food. M My party was a decent size since my sister, her husband and my husband were in town visiting my brother in laws family. They've gone to this place for some time so it came with high expectations. We were all seated right away and opted for the outdoor patio since that's what was recommended. I'm sure it's quite nice when the weather is decent outside but on the night we visited it was pretty warm outside. But that didn't stop the great experience. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. He answered any questions we had on the menu since we were unfamiliar. Honestly it felt like he knew us even though he didn't. I love that their customer service vibe is so relaxed. My brother in law ordered the Appetizer combo for the table to have. Honestly I'm sure exactly what it included but the spread they had in it was absolutely delicious! Did I mention they bring fresh bread for the table too? The spread worked perfectly on the soft bread. For my main meal I went with the chicken gyro. It was amazing! Everything was so fresh and I added a bit of the spread from our appetizer dish to the pita. Perfect pairing! This place deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion. They have great customer service and their food is delicious! I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again. I wish they had multiple locations so I could it more often. Too bad the staff were rude because I enjoy their food. Two young ladies forgot to put my bread/pita in my carry out order so after I was already home had to go back (called first). Encountered them upon arrival telling me they were out of bread and only had pita. After telling them that was okay they proceeded to say out loud that THEY were ready to "crash out". They went and got my pita for my flaming cheese. I'll tell you who wants to crash out young lady... ME! I was at work all day as an RN and have to go back to get the rest of my dinner because you don't want to make sure your customers have what they ordered. They were both unfriendly from the start. We got there at 5:30 & took us 3 times to be seated comfortably. The service was severely lacking! We had to ask for more water & beverages. They appeared to be understaffed. Food was "fine". Very dissapointed that after waiting a good 40 minutes for the food to come out parts of the salad were frozen and some of the meat was undercooked on top of the server smelling like cigarette smoke. I moved to Saint Clair Shores last year and I always pass by that restaurant until my boyfriend and I decided to try it out there. The food were pretty delicious, I ordered hot stuffed grape leaves and yuvetssake dishes. My boyfriend ordered gyro but he wished he could get two gyro. If you plan to order gyro dish, it'll be one gyro that's all. Their foods are fantastic but there is one negative about this restaurant. There was two waitresses that smelled like full of cigarettes that brought inside of the restaurant where we didn't like to smell cigarettes since my boyfriend have allergic of cigarettes. read more

Pegasus has been a local and family run Detroit "Greektown Staple" for over 24 years. Both their Greektown locations and St. Clair Shores location boast of their broad and authentic Greek menu. I am a St. Clair Shores local resident and typically dine at the St. Clair Shores Pegasus location. Their heated structured outdoor patio is perfect all year round with a plethora of natural light. Their outdoor heated patio tables recently got a facelift and they look classy! Much of their staff have remained loyal employees and you'll see a lot of the same faces. Their menu is diverse with all of the classic dishes you'd find locally in Greece and embodies the authenticity of Greek Cuisine. I'm a creature of habit and usually start with the Saganaki appetizer and pita bread. If you're anything like me, you'll have a hard time picking just one item so an entree! They have a combination platter with your choice of lamb, beef or chicken with Spanakoteropeta, Moussaka and Dolmathes served with rice and vegetables. If you're new to Greek Cuisine, this dish is for you! They have an assortment of authentic lamb dishes, as well. All of their meals are served with the traditional Greek-village style bread. When I traveled to Greece, I was able to take cooking lessons with a local chef in Athens and Pegasus' tomato sauce is above average. This most recent time I've dined here, David was our server and he was knowledgeable and authentic. They have a large parking lot so you won't struggle to find parking. They are able to accommodate large groups, as well. When I don't have time to dine-in at Pegasus, they are one of my take-out go-tos. They are not open on Mondays, but this seems to be a common post-COVID era restaurant theme, so it's not a big deal! Disgusted !!! Made several attempts w/negative results from this establishment. I left 3 DETAILED MESSAGES for when dialing direct, there's a phone tree menu which was beneficial for I was made aware of the operating business hours. All I wanted was a call back to discuss with whomever cares over there to address an issue., apparently I was wrong. GROSS this place, being an east sider by nature such a DISAPPOINTMENT, more so indicative of how the South end of SCS's businesses have lacked in customer care and service - after spending $121 plus, CASH tip ; The issue ; a simple call back would've prevented this review but since I know of several people who visit this place well here's my review -1 When the gentleman who is reaching in to remove a plate or refill water, while appreciated & a standard service what isn't is the stench of cigarette smoke left behind, for said subject clearly had a smoke break, impolite is being nice. Then when leaving what is said to be a "go to" establishment, how disgusted I was after spending $$ to see the restroom so unkempt. Arrival on a Friday shortly after 3, not sure who is required to clean up the restroom(s) but absolutely disgusting to walk into one with CHUNKS of bio hazard no doubt, the underbelly of the toilet bowl was splotched with remnants of vomit and/or blood ; I'll spare everyone the photo Bottom line; what was a nice quick go to expensive lunch/early dinner turned into no thanks, once again another establishment south end of SCS gone downward., so sad especially when I would've like to have kept this private, this is what happens when no one returns a call - does customer service exist? I'm curious to see if this post stays aboard, I did screenshot it all the same. Pegasus is the closest and most authentic Greek cuisine in SCS. Whether dining in or carrying out, I have never had a bad meal at Pegasus. The staff is always pleasant and helpful, the food is hot, and the portions are plentiful. Well they don't have my favorite cold plate anymore. They got rid of the eggplant salad, which was the best vegetarian choice that they had, to me. Honestly I probably won't be coming back here for a while. It's hard finding a good vegetarian meal around town. They have been skimping on that plate until it wasn't worth making a special trip here. Took out the tomato, then the cucumber and now the eggplant. The replacement plate is just okay, for now. The grape leaves were good, and a bunch of olives to replace the eggplant I guess. Maybe something new will pop up. I really like the place, I mainly come for a dinner without a meat or protein. I will find a replacement meal, but might be hard with good produce veggies being hard to find anywhere lately. I have been moving towards soup bowls from different places around town. What a wonderful meal! We want to celebrate my husband's birthday. Since it was a Wednesday night, business was slow. We were seated immediately and within a minute received water, our beverages and a nice basket of bread. My husband got his favorite, flaming cheese and then lemon rice soup. His entree was off menu which is meatballs on rice with red sauce. I got a beautiful dinner sized Caesar salad and the appetizer calamari. It was probably the best salad I've ever eaten, so fresh and not soaking in salad dressing. As a treat, the Pegasus is a little higher end but that's what makes it so much more enjoyable. My only regret is I didn't catch the waiter's name because of his service, the evening was a joy. read more

So last Saturday I went to Pegueas st Clair shores location lovely inside great staff I was suggested to order the fish and chips dinner it came out deep fried beautiful texture taste was great I finished the dinner and I thought everything was great. later that evening I began to feel funny I first threw up several times then I began to run to the restroom several times then throwing up again I got chills and i realized I had gotten food posioning from the fish and chips in which the chef should have known it was a bad batch he was serving. Having Pegasus here in the suburbs has been great over the last several years. At one point, I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the food with a couple dishes, however, I have not had a bad meal here in the last few years. Hands down, the best bang for your buck here is the gyro dinner. My fiancé and I like to get a bowl of the avgolemono soup, and split the gyro dinner, adding an extra pita, which is just $1 extra. This meal fills us up and we still have leftovers to take home. The pita doesn't always seem super fresh, since they tend to break when rolling up into a sandwich, but the taste is never compromised. My family enjoys frequenting here on Orthodox Easter when we decide not to cook. The waitstaff are usually hustling during this time, but we never run into any problems with quality of service. They provide the traditional red eggs, for the table, to see who has the mightiest egg of the bunch, during the egg cracking "competition." If you are new to the Greek cuisine scene, I recommend trying the lemon chicken dinner, with potatoes and peas. The lemon chicken is lightly breaded with a delicious lemon sauce drizzled on top. The potatoes are a fan favorite with most of my family and friends, and the peas are cooked to perfection with an added touch of dill. The feta here is seriously some of the best. The village salad and Greek salad are two dishes that have the feta on it. It comes in a block so you can crumble as you desire. It is creamy, tangy and full of flavor. I would maybe even consider this feta to be a little less mild than other types. Additionally, I would also recommend trying the garlic spread (Skordalia). It pairs well the Greek bread, or anything you can dip in it. I personally enjoy it with the beets that are provided on the plate of this spread. It it similar to a Mediterranean garlic spread, but not as garlicky, with a bigger presence of potato. Pegasus has ample parking, no matter what time you arrive. You can enter via Jefferson or 10 Mile. Just don't make it a habit to park here if you are not actually intending on being a customer at the restaurant. Since there are a couple bars nearby, people think their lot is overflow parking, but in fact the signs posted indicate that it is not. The signs let you know that your vehicle will be towed. Not a risk anyone would want to take, I assume! Pegasus has a wonderful indoor/outdoor patio. When the weather is rockin' during the warmer months, they open the garage doors of the patio to bring in the sun and breeze. I cannot forget to mention the drinks. They have great cocktails. You do not need to come here to eat and can just enjoy a nice drink on a warm summer day, living your best life. Having some variety on this side of town is always a plus and if you're looking for a place with the most authentic Greek food in the area, this is it. read more

My bf and I love sitting at the bar in the back with the open garage doors, especially on a sunny day. The Greek salad is to die for, so is the calamari! I never gotten anything I didn't love. Personally, I don't think the food is great at Pegasus (this location & downtown), but I like to go for the environment and most important the saganaki! Our waitress freaked out as we tried to Snapchat the plate of flaming cheese, yelling at us not to record her...even though we truly were just capturing the Opa! ... oh well.
