They also had hay rides but we didn't go because it was a little too sunny for our dog. Everything was free, which was nice! Very free form and you can walk around everything easily. There is also a big farm store in the center with pumpkins, mums, apple cider donuts, pies, jams, etc! The driving is one way so it's easy to get in and out of the farm. The pizza was tasty and ready in 5 min because they precooked the dough. I was hesitant about that technique (never seen pizza dough cooked and stacked like pita bread), but it had a nice crunch and the tomato sauce tasted pure. $23 for credit, $20 for cash. Overall, a nice experience and felt more rustic than more commercial farm places!

Alpacas, a member of the camelid family, are smaller and nicer than llamas, a relative. Mainly, they don't spit, at least not intentionally. We found these alpacas to be sweet, soft and silly. It was a little difficult to find the farm. The entrance is not clearly marked and we made at least two wrong forays onto adjacent properties before finding the farm. Once there we were welcomed by Heather, one of the owners, who gave us a brief rundown before introducing us to some of their goats, sheep, turkeys, donkey. She led us to the paddocks where the alpacas were, giving us instructions on how to approach them, how to feed them, how to pet them. Most had been recently shorn and Heather provided us with feed and the alpacas eagerly ate from our outstretched palms. They were soft and plush, the females more delicate eaters and the males (separated in a different area) were gobblers. These are animals, not pets, so while they are gentle, they do have wills of their own. It was a warm day and the alpacas enjoyed a spray from the hose. It was funny to see how excited they were to feed (reminds me of my dogs) and they ran after Heather when she got the food. Afterwards, we went to the barn where Heather, a fiber artist, demonstrated how the alpaca fur can be mixed with other fibers, how the wool is felted, and how it can be spun into yarn. There are textiles, yarn, garments for sale. Reservations are required. Sign up for the first time slot. Our tour ran over by 30 minutes and the next group had to wait. It is a picturesque drive to the farm but keep in mind that it turns into a two lane road through country lanes. We had left plenty of time for the drive but with our misdirected turnarounds and some road construction we ended up cutting it close.

We've now been to Summers for both a pumpkin and flower festival, and both times there have been a…read moregood time. To start, the farm has an absolutely huge property it sits on with lots of different activities - a barn, a jumping pad, etc. We have had a one and a two year old at these events, and I do think this location is better suited for an older child. There is A LOT of walking in between these activities that is hard for a very little one. The terrain is up and down with paths that have large puddles and dents in the mud, so also not suitable for a stroller or wagon. There's a large dead space between parking and the first bit of activities, which I wish they would do something with personally. Next, the value of the ticket. The ticket prices can be steep, but you can shave some money off with discount codes and buying before you go. Again, I think with an older child and buying a discounted ticket, it is worth it. We did not get pumpkins in the fall, but we did get flowers in the summer and they were absolutely gorgeous. We had a great time picking them and the staff is so friendly. Last wish item I have for this place is food! They really only have drinks and popcorn (at least when we have been there).

They even have fireworks on select nights. The place is pretty big and we can never finish everything in one day because it's a lot of walking lol. Nevertheless it's well worth the money , customer service is good, and it is a lot to do. I would recommend taking better care of the petting zoo because it really wasn't kept as well as I would've liked it to be. Side note: There was an incident in which an elderly woman fell while I was there. I would like to commend the staff for how much care and support they gave her to make sure she was OK.

This a a surprisingly large area to walk through tons of azaleas blooms. It's built on a hill overlooking a water reservoir with a dam. On weekends tons of families in matching wear come out here for photos so parking is hard to find down by the WSSC center. There are a few rules here, no picnicking and no dogs. I might have seen both. This is a great scenic spot to get family photos.', talk a walk with friends or take some nature photos but the flowers are only out for a limited time.

The team is gracious and helpful if you have questions or would like to learn more about the art. I went on a weekday midday, and I need to go back to take it all in. It got a little hot in the direct sunlight, though each building had umbrellas, which was super helpful. There was plenty of outdoor seating and spaces to reflect and contemplate and just take it all in. I can't wait to go back with my friends and family. This museum is absolutely worth a visit with both friends and family…read more I booked a 1:30 p.m. Sunday entry and arrived about 20 minutes late without any issues. Crowd levels were manageable when I arrived, with only a brief wait to check in, but it was noticeably busier when I left around 3:00 p.m., with about 10 people waiting in line. The experience includes both indoor and outdoor art, so be prepared for a fair amount of walking, including some uphill sections. Plan on spending 2-3 hours if you want to see everything. I also recommend booking tickets at least a couple of weeks in advance. When I visited, all remaining time slots for the day were sold out. Because of the extreme heat, part of the grounds was closed during my visit. The museum provided white umbrellas for sun protection, which I highly recommend, even if you have a hat and sunglasses and the stamina of a horse. Just note that umbrellas are not permitted inside the pavilions or gallery buildings. One thing that could be improved: I found only one water station, and it dispensed warm water. There are benches throughout the property, but much of the outdoor area is unshaded so on hot days you're unlikely to sit for long. The map provided at check-in was very helpful for navigating the grounds. AC is ample in all the buildings including the food venues. My favorite installations were Alex De Corte's exploration of humor, satire, violence, and tenderness through neon installations in The Pavilions and Faith Ringgold's "Who's Afraid of Aunt Jemima?" You'll have to check them out for yourself to see why!

This is the worst experience I've had with pick-your-own. They only take cash or check (cash preferred) with no information on how much the items actually cost. We saw that they are supposedly open until 5pm so that is the only reason we chose this orchard. It took us longer to find the entrance than to pick our peaches. We had to pass the sign three times to ensure that was really where we were supposed to drive because the entrance was so small. We were immediately and repeatedly yelled at. "Don't idle" when dropping someone off at the entrance; "only second row" "second row!" when trying to navigate the orchard. The grounds are overrun with sticks, rotten fruit, and tall grass and weeds. There were only a few trees in the orchard and not many of them had fruit that was ripe enough for picking. I felt judged and uncomfortable which ruined the whole experience. My mom picked 4 peaches and went back to the car where she was berated again "don't you think about turning that car on, you can't idle near the trees." It felt like we were trespassing on their land and we were not welcome at all. The trees have poison Ivy at the base as well. It was $19 for the small amount of peaches we hurriedly picked. I haven't tried them yet to see if they even taste good because they weren't fully ripe when picked.

We reserved a private space with a private tasting, which made the day feel extra special and perfect for a large group. For many of our guests, it was their first time visiting this location, and everyone had such a great time. One of the co-founders, Greg, personally led our tasting and was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, welcoming, and checked on us throughout the afternoon to make sure everything was going smoothly. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. I also appreciated that some friends who don't drink were still able to enjoy themselves thanks to the non-alcoholic options. The property itself is beautiful with scenic views, plenty of space to relax, and such a peaceful atmosphere. We had amazing weather the day we visited, which made it even more memorable. If you are looking for a great place for a birthday, celebration, group outing, or just a relaxing day with friends, I highly recommend! We will definitely be back.

I had an awesome first experience at Rocklands…read more I joined a group of 15-20 on the first really nice Saturday of the spring season; it was fairly crowded but we got there right at opening to secure a large section of shaded picnic tables. There was PLENTY of seating still - lots of large and small tables scattered throughout the property. They also have seating inside the winery at a small bar. The wine itself was really nice; we had several bottles of the rose at the table. It was light, crisp, and easy to sip in the nice weather. I was impressed that they also had 2 non alcoholic wines; the non drinkers in our group were happy to have some options made just for them (which were delicious also). There is a third party pizza business that had food offerings; we had many different types of their pizza which were all good. Very smart to have a food option for folks to enjoy while we sip our wine. Overall, the property is wonderfully maintained and the wines meet all expectations. I'd recommend giving this spot a try if you're looking for a nice winery north of the beltway!
