My flight was delayed causing me to miss my international connection and leaving me at houston airport at 2:00 am. I found a comfortable place to sleep for my 7:00 am flight. My thought was to wake and have my breakfast/coffee and head to my gate. I was awoken by a waiter named Dern. He slammed his fist on the seat over and over and in a very loud voice said "come on get up this ain't your bed. You gotta go. Get up get up get up. You don't nap here" I was shocked. I was worse than I've seen some homeless people treated only I am on a layover for an international flight. I then ordered by breakfast and coffee. He scratched his head and flirted with a young girl at the table next to me making her appear very uncomfortable. My coffee didn't come before or during my omelette. I asked Dern and he proceeded to move boxes and chat with passerby's. The coffee came when I had to go and ask a second server for it 30 min later. I understand workforce is an issue but this guy Dern was just awful! read more

My attempt to grab a quick breakfast didn't quite go as expected. Gavi often catches my eye for its offerings. Whether you're looking for healthy, gluten free, comforting, unexpected, or any food in between they've got it. It was nice to see breakfast offering, specifically avocado toast, along with other classics, however, this is not the spot if you're in a hurry (atleast it wasn't when I visited). On the plus side they do have a counter and table seating and offer a QR code to "skip the line" if you prefer not to engage with the tap to order screen but neither option helps the staff work any faster. Would I order again based on the quality I received? Probably not. The product I ordered looked nothing like the one represented on the tablet. The baby spinach was wilted and overall the toast could use some additional seasoning (salt specifically). I've yet to master the perfect IAH breakfast, but I hope this was just a one off experience because traveling quite a bit, I'd love to have a reliable breakfast provider :) read more

Ordered two pizzas ...... my wife's came but mine did not. When I asked .... I was told my original pizza was burnt and they had to me make me a second one. NO EXPLANATION until I asked. Skip this place. I grabbed the sausage and cheese panini at Gavi across from Gate E14, and it was the driest sandwich I've ever had. The peppers were sliced so paper-thin you could barely taste them, and the bread was hard as a board. I ended up eating the sausage out of the middle and tossing the bread entirely. There is nothing quite like watching cooking staff hang out on their phones instead of make your food while you're starving in the middle of a very quick layover after many hours in the air.... Aaarg! There is a barcode to scan on the counter, making it fast and painless to order food... Unfortunately, the ease stops there as the lack of human interaction seemed to cause the staff to forget why they're there. Luckily for them though, the ordering system had a minimum 20% tip set, and they were already paid out to sit and ignore their customer. In my seat overlooking the open kitchen, I watched for 17 minutes as the staff showed each other TikToks on their phones instead of notice my order of carbonara on their kitchen's screen. Finally, staff realized they had an order in and mildly rushed to make my carbonara in.... It took about 3-5 minutes as they dumped packaged food into a stainless bowl, mixed it up, and put it on the stove to warm. For some reason, raw onions covered my spaghetti carbonara... that was a first. With less than minus six minutes until my next flight boards, I inhaled my pasta and chose to question why raw onions were on my pasta later. In retrospect, I should have paid United for a sandwich in the air. read more

I generally have low expectations for airport food outlets because frankly, the customers are captive travelers and often hurried to just get some chow to refuel before running to their next flight. If you look at the dining guide for the Houston Intercontinental Airport, the marketing copy makes Gavi sound as if it will provide an elevated dining experience. Well, I'm here to tell you: No it does not provide an elevated dining experience. In fact, it is one of the worst rip-offs I've run across in a while. The restaurant itself consists of a cooking area with a bar style counter at one end and ordering kiosks at the other. The bar features high-top chairs bolted to the ground to make it extremely inconvenient to sit. This is apparently an IAH standard as I saw similar fixed seating in other restaurants. Do the people making the rules actually ever go see the effects of their decisions? If they do it's clear they don't give a darn. And then there's the entrees. Two meatballs, three garlic knots for $30.98 plus tax and airport fees... ridiculous. The food is bland and lukewarm as is to be expected, with the products mostly reheated packages from Sysco, and little added by the "chef de cuisine" other than bacteria from his constant cross contamination of products and stuffing his hands into his pockets and then touching food. No gloves or hair nets in use. Fresh ingredients left unrefrigerated sitting on the carts; many many no-nos for dietary managers. The service is even worse. If you sit at the bar seating area at one end of the restaurant, the staff yell your name out and tell you to pickup your food at the other end instead of placing it before you. And they expect gratuities for this "service"? This place is a bad joke. AVOID. read more

I never order food from those impersonal IPads, just order a beverage with authority and if I'm lucky, I may get a human that delivers it and maybe even say, "Hello" read more

Well we definitely would not recommend this place based on our experience. Just a few lowlights - 1. tepid coffee served in a dirty cup ( dried drips on outer cup). When we raised this we were told it's not dirty, it's a coffee stain lol. 2. cup replaced but no coffee in it - had to ask for the coffee to go into the clean cup! 3. Our bottle of mineral water arrived but with no glasses to use. We had to ask twice for these and overall wait time was 15 mins for the glasses. The venue was not busy at all but obviously service was not a priority. The panini we ordered were quite tasty but by the time we had everything we'd ordered, and had to ask several times for, it was a poor experience. read more

Oof. :( Not a bad option for airport food in Terminal E, but still not a great dining experience. I ordered the Caprese Panini and received a lukewarm, thin panini that was mostly bread, and fries that were cold and extremely salty. I also ordered the Citron Green Iced Tea and thought it tasted like this old medicine I had as a child that would help clear my sinuses. And the worst part was that this meal was $32 (tax + tip included). High prices are not uncommon in airports, though, unfortunately. I will say, however, that I enjoyed the atmosphere and the seating options offered. You simply sit wherever you like, order from an iPad, and the food is brought out to you. It's a simple yet effective system, and it offers a great way to kill time in peace if you arrive at the airport early. There are outlets available at each table to charge your devices, as well. The service was also very quick and friendly. So, while the food was very disappointing, other aspects of this place are appealing. read more

I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara & Chicken fingers with French fries. The place is attractive & well kept. But the server forgot my ketchup & never came back with it. Which is hard to understand why as it was only me & another couple in the whole restaurant. Anyways , the spaghetti carbonara was HORRIBLE ! I'm not sure what they put in the sauce but it was definitely not Carbonara - I brought it home for my partner to finish it & he said it tasted like Crabs in Coconut soup ! The chicken nuggets was okay - nothing out the ordinary but the fries really would've been better with the ketchup ' I ended up not eating it . Overpriced for sure but well worth it! The pizza from Gavi was prepared exceptionally well. Super fresh ingredients! I've never ordered sausage, red onions and jalapeños and white sauce on pizza. I'm not typically a white sauce fan. I added sriracha and this took the pizza to another level! The service was relatively fast ; considering I was about to board a flight within 30 mins from placing my order. I also had an old fashioned.... Tasty but overpriced as well. The Margherita pizza isn't as pictured on the menus and screens. Definitely a bit misleading. It's a greasy cheese pizza with large leaves of basil slapped on. Given the hype, I was expecting a bit more. While it's refreshing to see a new pizza place at an airport that's not Sbarro's or Pizza Hut, I was a bit irkek by the false advertising. The drinks are the WORST. I ordered a Mint Julep that had NO MINT. It was super boozy and very poorly mixed. My hubby seemed to enjoy his Manhattan. The bar was pretty packed and took us 25 min to get our drinks and pizza. While I didn't particularly enjoy the meal, it was a big step up from the Tex-Mex restaurant El Premio next door (we paid $70 for a quesadilla, chicken tacos, and a margarita for a subpar meal). Got a quote bite here since it was close to my gate, and I have to say for airport food, this pizza was pretty good! A bit overpriced as all airport food is, but I did actually enjoy my four cheese pizza. I had plenty for leftovers and it is definitely large enough to share, or for one very hungry person :) Easy ordering with technology as is the case all around this airport. read more

Wow great service by all the staff especially Michael. Really made my day. I will return to this restaurant. Wanted some garnish for my bloody mary and he went searching for it even at the other side of the restaurant. So sweet and kind. I love good people. If it were anyone else, they might've just said no to me. But he really took his time to be super helpful. Also the margarita with an extra shot, bacon, jalapeno, and lemon was bomb diggidy. It was absolutely a nice airport spot. Hate the throw away plates and utensils though with COVID in the air. It is repulsive how the trash bins are filling up bc of the 'plandemic'. I pray Mother Earth counters such unconscious behavior of the muggles living fear. Gave did serve its expensive average wines in glasses, so at least that was good instead of plastic. The pizzas seem to be the best bang for the buck. I chose a Caesar and a pasta and thank goodness I got two dishes as they were both very small. The quality was high however so I was pleased overall with the taste. Total tab was like $60 but what are you going to do in an airport. In order to order something you need to sign in using their QR code. Then you have to add your credit card to pay for something. It takes about 10 minutes just for all of this. After being delayed in Houston from Denver while on my way to Georgia, I was looking for something to eat. I was hoping to find a few Tex Mex restaurants but after surprisingly not finding much in the way of Tex Mex, I decided to try Gavi. Yes, having pasta while being in Texas for the first time. I went with the Spaghetti Carbonara. It was what I needed at the time; carbs, bacon, and cream. The pasta came out hot and was delicious. The ordering process is by iPad. I just wish I could get a hot meal from this place. I've tried Gavi 2 or 4 times now and though I think the quality of the food is high, the service is weak and every meal I've ever purchased came to me cold. This is an airport and travelers just don't have time to send meals back to be recooked. Today I had time and sent it back. Sure, the food tasted great but I'm still thinking that they messed up. The return plate wasn't even complete, it was missing the side dishes I paid for. I guess I wouldn't be so concerned had the meal not cost me $25 for an omelette with side of bacon and coffee. The staff is wonderful but their hands are bound by this abomination of an idea for a service industry restaurant. Very disappointing. There is ZERO service. Everything is done by either a kiosk or self check. When trying to purchase a water the self check credit card reader was not working. I asked the ladies behind the counter if there was any other way to pay, they told me no that was the only place I could pay for it. They did not offer to help and were actually quite rude. This pizza was made hot and fresh in front of us...it was hot enough to burn the face off...the crust was thin I will give it that...however it was gummy...the sauce was good although more sweet than anything else...the cheese was delicious and helped balance it...their ovens were cool but it didn't cook the dough enough to be done...for a quick bite in the airport it is a good buy at only $20 for the whole deal but I have truly had better..and I've also had worse...next time I will have to try their pepperoni.... read more
