This place is very nice, the staff is very courteous and the vibe is cool, unfortunately I have severe social anxiety so I wasn't able to meet anyone for friends or anything else. The only issue I have here is with the Wi-Fi and cellular reception. On Verizon you can count on not having any reception and the Wi-Fi does not work properly, I was there for over an hour trying to get it to work but had to leave because getting drunk without reception far from home is never a good idea. I'm not sure about how safe it is, but hopefully pretty safe since it's a small space. They keep the bathrooms stocked and clean, mostly. read more

I've been to the Gaythering twice in the last month it's truly a little gem in Miami Beach. It's located close to Lincoln Rd. I went during happy hour and it's such a good deal! Great drinks, friendly service and awesome happy hour prices. The decor is fun! Staff is kind. I came by for a tech happy hour as well and really enjoyed networking with locals. Definitely a cool bar! They have different events throughout the week from trivia to drag bingo. Can't wait to come back soon! read more

A local gay hotel with a cozy bar open to the public gays. It's on the corner up northwest away from the main touristy area of South Beach. On the weekdays there are more local clientele since the drinks are well made and worth the price especially with their Happy Hour deals daily from 5-7! Margs are fab here!! I came here on a Thursday night to play some bingo and have a more low key night. It's free to play and they do a few rounds with prizes of drinks or shots. Maybe you have to go on weekends but went on a weeknight and was bored to death. Drinks were pretty weak . Bartenders weren't friendly except asking for tips . Nothing going on and patrons weren't friendly. It was one of the saddest gay bar experiences I've ever had . read more

I haven't had this much fun in a LONG time as I did on karaoke night on Monday. I was staying in the heart of South Beach, and the craziness was just starting to die down. I should've stayed at this hotel. This bar was more at home to me than anywhere in South Beach. Due to the Covid, all bars back in Los Angeles were closed for over a year, including karaoke bars. This bar was filled with good people, and fun people just looking to have a good time. Last night was like a breath of fresh air. I felt so free! I honestly can't give this place enough stars. The cocktails are also good and pretty reasonable, and the bartenders are very accommodating. I'd move to Miami just for this bar! read more

I've come to Bar Gaythering on a few occasions...The first was when I came here for "trivia night" with a whole gaggle of gays, and the second was when my partner and I stopped by for a nightcap when on our way home from seeing a movie at the nearby cinema on Lincoln Rd. Bar Gayhering is in the lobby area of the Hotel Gaythering. It's not huge and behind the bar you'll find a somewhat smallish display of bottles, but this place employs proper mixologists who are good with conversation and make a great drink! There are some stools at the bar, though it's not huge. There are also some barber chairs and tables/chairs elsewhere in the room, and more seating outside, either at the tables/chairs on the deck in front of this hotel, or in laid back, comfy seats down in the gravel areas on the front lawn (bonus: They have a small basket with 3 or 4 cans of "Off" and other bug spray for patrons to use). On the walls of the bar itself you'll find some eclectic artwork and a few screens where they have a scrolling display of humor, risque photos and catty comments. In the lobby area, besides Bar Gaythering, you'll find the check in desk for the hotel, a few couches and a large screen TV, another small bar in the next room (which has never been open when I've been here) and a few tables filled with the fun games that take us back to our childhoods - Connect 4, Hungry Hippos, Rock 'em Sock 'em robots, Jenga and a few others. You'll also find some male-themed, somewhat risque artwork on the walls in this space as well. For us on this night, we simply wanted a few drinks. I had a rum and Coke, my partner a gin and tonic. Both came in large glasses with generous pours, my partner was served Hendrick's gin and the total for 2 drinks was only $22 and change! Later my partner ordered an old fashioned and it was expertly crafted by the mixologist; once he got that, we went out and sat on the patio. The night was cool with a slight breeze..It was pretty perfect to be able to sit out here, sip our drinks, enjoy the breeze and unwind after a long and somewhat hectic day, looking out at the street in front were there is rarely any traffic, and at the bay in the distance. read more

I've been meaning to check out this bar for a couple years now. It being separated from the rest on the gay venues on South Beach is a bummer but there's a lot of bike stations nearby this making it a quick 5 min bike ride. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Happy hour is very well priced especially for Miami and the drinks were done well. They have different events during the week which is great to bring in the crowd but some of these events would be fun to be seen on the weekends too. Overall will be back again especially after COVID. read more

After getting bad attitudes left and right in South Beach- The Gaythering was my oasis. I'm a straight woman who came here with 3 straight male friends- and we all remarked how much more comfortable we felt there than any where else we had been in Miami. The staff is beyond friendly, the drinks were on point, and the ambiance is pure fun. I can't recommend this bar enough! I was in town a few weeks ago to get some sun and warm up for a few days. I was told by a friend to check this place out while I was around. It was a nice, quiet space, where it seems a lot of locals go. Its in one of those hotels that seem to be popping up all over south beach, revived old buildings turned into boutique hotels. This one however is gay oriented. Everyone was very friendly, but it was a rather slow night during the week. Still it was a nice space to have a good cocktail and not just grab a vodka soda while music is blaring. I would recommend this place for meeting up with a date for drinks, friends for a conversation, or just to relax and enjoy your surroundings. read more

What, how can I be the first to review this totally cool place?! Came here on a Friday night, late night. It was a totally convivial atmosphere. We were a group of straight guys and gals, and while the rest of the patrons were gay, we did not feel out of place or unwelcomed at all. The interior is clean and sparkling new, with quirky elements, like a metal medical style chair, and a vending machine containing odd products. Only shots were ordered and they were pricey, but the bartender warned us of the cost before pouring. The smokers section outside was a party unto itself. Don't miss it! read more

The Hotel Gaythering is a cleverly-curated straight-friendly gay hotel. Where else could one be housed in a four star bathhouse-style room (called a "crate")? I wouldn't recommend a crate if you value privacy. The bar is a blast: people are conversing, laughing, flirting without swiping right. It's a neighborhood place with a gay "Cheers" kind of ambiance. The staff are all genuinely nice people. Kudos to whomever the creative genius is who stylized this place. On the downside the crate area smelled to high heaven one day. Really putrid. I asked to be relocated or I was leaving. The management accommodated me after some give-and-take. However they up-charged me for the larger room. I didn't feel like squabbling over the price at that point. However they should have not made me pay more because of an untenable situation over which I had no control. My recommendation is to stop by and enjoy the bar- but stay elsewhere. read more

In a post-recession Miami Beach where most gay bars couldn't afford their rent and had to shut down, Bar Gaythering is a welcomed addition to the slowly dying gay scene here and totally straight friendly and inclusive. The bar is refreshingly different than most bars in Miami and also most gay bars. The vibe is industrial, old-timey casual cocktail club, much like what you would find in Brooklyn or San Francisco. There is nothing here that fits the tired gay bar stereotype....its well lit, the bartenders are dressed in everyday clothing, it's not cruisey and drinks are served in real and appropriate glassware. Crowd is totally diverse, which is also a bonus. For me, my main reason for going out is to have a well made drink (why pay $12 for a drink you can make at home?). Bar Gaythering has well trained bartenders who know how to actually make cocktails and their selection of whiskeys (and probably other spirits) is interesting and somewhat obscure (I found a new favorite Rye here from Traverse City, MI!) The cocktails on the menu are on the sweet side, so definitely ask the bartender before ordering if that is not your thing. They have a lot of special theme nights here, including a really fun trivia night, crafts night, happy hours, etc. Service overall has been friendly and accommodating. One negative of Gaythering is that since its more of an intimate space, it can get jam packed quickly and be loud. With so many hard surfaces in there (pun intended) the sound can be too much to have a conversation at times. After learning of this new hotel and its bar from friends, we decided to finally check it out this weekend. The outside of the hotel is interesting. It's an open area with a bunch of tables - Lots of people were outside talking and having a good time when we arrived. Inside the bar, I think they've done a great job with the space. Cool decor, enough space to sit and drink at a table, or be at the bar and chat. The drinks were cheap, which is impossible to find in South Beach. And, they were strong :) A major plus. It's a great place to get a drink or a few before going out, and it seemed like a really social atmosphere if you were just going there to meet friends / dates whatever. read more

I visited Gaythering for my friend's citizenship party and we had a great time at the bar. We're all straight but, for the most part, it felt like any other type of bar. The crowd was a good size and the the people were friendly (this might seem obvious for a bar but South Beach sometimes gets a bad name for uptight people). This may be one of my favorite gay bars... Or straight bars! It's just a great place to have a drink and meet people! My boyfriend and I were visiting and were recommended by some local friends to try it out. I loved it! Dark and fun. Like a joke about dead babies. We came back with our friends several nights later, still had a blast, laughing, interacting, drinking... Etc. Will for sure be back when we're in Miami again.
