There's an intense dynamic of action throughout this joint- upstairs and downstairs. There's professional performers on the center bar top. Walk to the back and there's another live performance complete with more dancers and singing with a dance floor at the stage. What's upstairs? There is DJ dancing - popular high energy music. The drinks are definitely expensive, but that is to be expected in South Beach. The only complaint is the bartenders I visited on the bottom floor to the left bar in the back and upstairs in the DJ room looked like they did not want to be there. I thought she was taking them back to give us regular size drink drinks. She took them back and brought them back said that she added lime juice so they aren't too sweet ! . IBill almost 400 for 3 drinks and 4 apps plus one entree (wings, calamari, fries , quesadillas ) I'm far from cheap and thrive on 5 star dining experiences but come on now. Not cool . Mind you the night before we were at pink steak in West Palm paid $300! food here was mediocre bar food and why would you take off the best dish on the menu ? Makes sense given the pedigree: Mango's has been doing exactly this since 1991, samba, salsa, conga lines, live singers and dancers taking over the stage, all under founder David Wallack's original vision of turning a stretch of Ocean Drive into a full-blown spectacle. They even serve their tropical cocktails in giant souvenir glasses, up to 45 ounces, because subtlety was never really the point here. The vibes were immaculate. If you didn't feel it, you could move elsewhere and go see how Stella got her groove back, because this place is not holding your hand. We made a table reservation right by the stage, which was fun. We ordered the chips and guac as well as got three different cocktails; they are also souvenir glasses, which was fun! I thought the chips and guac were good, however, there was WAY too much guac for how many chips they give you. Also, asking for more chips was extra money. It also may be a South Beach thing, but they charged for water, which I don't see that often. The cocktails I'd say were great, since I'm a big fan of fruity cocktails, and the dancing was fun. This is the night spot to go to on Ocean drive, Miami! I went there for Salsa Mia private salsa & bachata group class in the second floor lounge, and their mojito was solid. Bites were so-so, but that's not really what you come here for anyway. Downstairs in the main hall, the cabaret performances were electric and amazing. They sang and had ladies in full carnaval costumes on stage dancing & jiggling (sorry but sometimes that is the most accurate description) the night away. I loved the mezzanine seating upstairs as they joined in multi-story fun. There were some very impressive male & female salsa dancers kept the crowd electrified and excited. In the back there was another stage with live band just getting started and I noticed ladies who just sang in the front stage came right back there to continue singing and dancing. There is a $50 per person charge which is then applied to your bill, along with a 20% service charge at the end. We were sat right away at the lower level of the resturant and brought water. We were informed we had a 2 hour limit at the table. Which, for us, since we went around the time the show started, it was fine. There are pauses between acts of dancing and singing. We ordered the guacamole. I would pass on that next time. Something about the favor just wasn't right for us. We even added some lime and salt but didn't help much. The steak entree was good. I really enjoyed the type of garlic sauce that came with it. The chicken curry dish originally includes shrimp, but due to preference, we asked for double chicken, which was no problem. The sauce was great, however the rice on that dish was a little undercooked. Pro Tip: I suggest going to Groupon and getting a city pass for Miami and in that pass you will have a salsa class offered on a specific weekday and it includes mojitos and an RSVP for your meal in a VIP room. That is really cool to have, but if you want to have more you can reserve during event nights and watch an entire show at your table. Wow this place is crazy overpriced and overhyped. Didn't try any food from here, but the drinks weren't very good and I couldn't believe how little they gave for such a high price. The staff isn't friendly and there is soo much to look at that it becomes overwhelming. They are insanely strict on dress code and wouldn't let my male friend in because you could see his shoulders and they made him buy a shirt to get in. But one of my female friends was literally just in a bikini top and it was fine. It was very interesting. I enjoyed the area upstairs as we were able to watch the performances without being in a crowd. The performances were okay.
