Great gym with tons of classes. I come mid morning so I'm only speaking for the 8-11 a.m. time frame. Tons of machines and weights open. Staff is always friendly, gym is clean and pool is decent. The three stars are for the choices the have on their TV's in the women's locker room and main gym; FOX news and The View, I'm not sure what the men's locker room is stuck watching. I'm going to assume that 70-80% of people come to the gym to get the fuck out of their head and unplug from the outside, however when you have the news blaring their bs and then go to clean up and get caught up in a rhetoric hen house, it's enough to make anyone scream. read more

The hours at this location are not good, and do not make a lot of sense. In fact the gym hours vary wildly between the different locations. The West location is more accessible but the people there make me uncomfortable for a variety of reasons. I heard the aqua classes are pretty good. The price for membership is not terrible either. In the past (pre covid) however, more and better aerobic classes have been offered. read more

Terrible Customer service With snobby attitudes. Talked to an employee over the phone about my job at children's hospital. I explained I was staying in town for 13 weeks and wanted to join a gym during this time. The employee said without hesitation to come over and he'll get me a week pass. Upon arrival a young lady working the front desk said thats not the policy and I'll have to pay $10 for the day. I asked if she can just do a single visit for having me drive down because of the misinformation of her coworker and with a smile and smirk on her face said no. With that i won't give this company a cent after seeing what kind of people they hire and train. read more

I made the switch to Gb3 last month and I couldn't be happier. Signed up with my boyfriend using the couple's membership and honestly you can't beat the price of $20/month. Love the openness of the Palm gym, very spacious and definitely enough machines to use even if it's too crowded. Always enough equipment to use, and enough space to do any workout. Love the steam room as well. Especially love how nice and cool it is inside. Overall, I would recommend to anyone who wouldn't mind paying a little extra for amenities that other local gyms do not have. read more

I've checked out 3 of the 5 current GB3's in town, and so far, this one is my favorite. It's darn difficult to judge a gym, because a lot of that judgement is based off of past gyms and experiences. I feel my experience is slightly skewed, though. The Customer Service: First things first - I'm not paying for my gym membership. My wonderful boyfriend is giving me the honor of being on his account, so I can't speak for prices. However, he put me on the account by calling from Hawaii, and asked me to freeze his account since he's not using it. When I came in, they guy who was working at the desk checked everywhere, took my name, took his name, and couldn't find anything about it, so he assumed it was the other Nees location that had my information, but he let me sign in for a day and work out anyway. I feel that he handled the situation well, and as a bonus, he let me borrow a lock for the locker room that day. I feel they really went out of their way to help me out. The Positives: -I love the stairmaster, and this location has a little upstairs loft with a ton of cardio machines overlooking the gym (including that stairmaster). I enjoy people watching, and this is a prime place to do so. -All the machine and equipment I've come into contact with have been in working condition. -At first, I was wary of the fact that there was nothing out to clean my machine with, until I noticed they had dedicated staff for this, another plus. -They have a pool, way awesome, even though I haven't utilized it yet. -Plenty of TVs to watch, even though I prefer Netflix on my phone - which is cool, because they have WiFi so I can access it. The Negatives: -Can easily be crowded and cramped if you come at a really busy part of the day. -There's a possibility you won't be able to find the weights you want if there are enough people. Plus side - the aerobics room has extra dumbbells if needed. I feel the positives definitely outweigh the negatives, especially in the context of cleanliness, functional machinery, and nice employees. No complaints from me! read more

Just joined the gym and I was a little wary because of the bad reviews for customer service. It's all true. The receptionists are all.. to put it nicely.. airheads and floozies. I came in to ask about prices and the girl at the front (who looked and acted like a high school drop out) pointed to a side office for me to get information. She didn't bother to walk me over, which I don't understand because she wasn't busy. Seems like the front staff only want to socialize with each other rather than do their job. Sean, the guy I signed up with, gave me a tour only when I told him I was shopping around for different gyms. I thought tours were customary. Apparently not. I don't plan on chopping it up with the staff so that wasn't a make or break factor for me. Anyway, the gym is huge! Lots of parking and lots of equipment. Another plus is that all locations are included with membership. The pool is amazing and the classrooms are spacious. If you want to get a good workout in, this is the place!! read more

I don't normally write negative reviews. I pretty much call it how I see it. As a disclaimer, I probably should say that your experience may be different. I was just not at all impressed by this place. I just finished my workout at Gb3 George Brown Sports Club. I gotta say, this place is not all that. Take away the insane amount of TVs and the overwhelming amount of machines (many which are ripped and worn) and you have an overpriced gym. My workout went pretty well. No wait for the most part. I usually use free weights, but there is no seat for the preacher curl bench, so I went to the machines (good luck winding through the maze of machines). The treadmills are plentiful and in good shape. There is at least one TV per treadmill. There are also plenty of elliptical machines, stair steppers, and stationary bikes. I couldn't find a stretching area, so I ended up using the handrail to the stairs that lead to more bikes and ellipticals. As I read some of the other comments left by fellow Yelpers, I am reminded that the men's lockerroom is poorly designed. It's like being on a ship (close quarters). Not very many sinks, either. Plenty of mirrors, though. So, if you accidentally bump into someone, you look up and see both front and back of who you just bumped in to. In the end caught myself asking, "When will 24 Hour Fitness come to Fresno?" As I was leaving a friend called to ask for my recommendation. I suggested to him that he should go to Bally's. Bally's doesn't charge $10 for out of towners to use their gym (their free pass is actually free unlike Gb3). Oh, if you just moved to Fresno, make sure to have a Fresno address available or you may be treated poorly and overcharged. read more

I've been with GB3 for about a week now. I've been to the Fowler and Palm locations. Palm is WAY busier. Still, don't have to wait to use the machines. Might have to alter where I was going to go with the weight machines but that's not a big deal. Seems like there are a lot more men here all 'roided out, and women looking for dates, exercising in full make up. The issues here, I didn't see anyone cleaning and disinfecting like I did at the Fowler location. The front desk girls are still vapid high school girls. But whatevs. I like the gym a lot, but the staff just sucks. It's a good thing you don't need to interact with them at all. read more

Prior to moving to Fresno I did my research of the area gyms. GB3 seems to be one of the few that didn't have reviews stating shady business practices when it came to canceling your membership. They also had very affordable prices- $29 for 1 person or $39 for 2 people (the other person doesn't have to be a family member so if you're looking to save some money, find someone else to go 1/2sies with!). When I first started going I went to this location and the one on Cedar/Nees. The Palm location is far superior as it is larger and doesn't feel so stuffy and cramp. They offer the usual gym equipment from cardio machines, to weight machines, and also free weights. GB3 also has a nice variety of fitness classes with my favorite being spin. If you hate running and are looking for a way to get cardio in- check out a spin class. You can find the schedules online as well as printed copies at the front desk. Along with the aforementioned, there is also a locker room with showers, inexpensive child care, and a pool. My only qualm is that I wish there were later fitness classes on the weekends but other than that I have been quite happy with this gym. You also get a access to all the other GB3s in town with a membership so I think it's a great deal. read more

I personally love GB3, especially the Palm and Nees location. While it can be very busy at certain times of the day, I've always been able to get a good workout in with minimal waiting and for the most part people are courteous to one another. There's a great selection of cardio equipment, plenty of classes to choose from and the weight equipment is rarely out of order. I don't use the pool facilities here so I can't speak on that, but its obvious that keeping the gym clean is a high priority. I always notice staff cleaning while I'm there. High ceilings and good climate control make the experience so much better than gyms I used to go to. No musty sweat smell! read more

I enjoy going to the GB3 on Herndon and Milburn, but let's get real GB3: 1) Make it 24-7. A lot of your members work at hospitals or very late hours. We need a 24-7 GB3. 2) The price a month compared to other gyms is high and they have 24-7 gyms. I love Gb3 because it's local and it's always clean (good note). However, don't put kickboxing on your list of items you offer if you don't let your members kick the bag. I was kicking at this location and I have trained for over 14 years in Muay Thai / Kickboxing and a staff told me "not to kick so hard. It is making a loud noise" ... are you fudging kidding me. It's a gym, if I don't hear loud noises then I assume ppl are not working out, so my $200 noise cancellation headphones actually work? Trust me my headphones don't work I just wear them so ppl leave me alone. read more

Be careful with your property at this location especially in the locker room. There are professional thiefs that will observe and distract in order to steal a valuable. Wallet was stolen and immediately they began usage of charge cards. Equipment and location is nice but won't be back due to this experience which actually did not surprise me too much given the amount of crime in that area. read more

This speaks to their billing policy: I cancelled membership 1 day before the billing cycle. They now say on their website that you must cancel 30 days in advance, something I was not told when I called to cancel. Here is the ad they run on their website for a month-to-month membership, which is what I had: One time registration fee Pay as you go Cancel anytime Instead, they are refusing to refund the last month's membership they took at the time I signed up for month to month [they billed me for 3 months in advance], they are charging me for the month of October, and letting me stay until November, when I no longer live in town. I am fortunate enough that I could go to any GB3 I wanted to, to workout..I choose to come to this location, Palm and Ness.... I don't know whats changed lately, but the vibe has change here for the better, plus its much cleaner than a few months ago.. You now the only complaint I have, well 2, when using the steam-room, half the time they didn't have the spray sanitizer available. The spin room smells better, but the scent is too strong, really gets to me when that strong scent hits you when your out of breath.... read more

I joined GB3 Palm in Feb. 2011. I love it! It's clean and the equipment is modern and replaced at the slightest bit of wear and tear. My 9 yr old recently started going to the daycare there and he has a blast there! They have a play structure inside the kids can play on at anytime they are there. My only complaint is the weekend hours are pretty weak. they close at 8pm and I wish they were open until 10 or 11 pm. read more

So where did all of these new members come from? This is more a message to the newcomers than a review of the gym, which I've been a member of since the grand opening of the cedar location. Please rack your weights. Wipe down your equipment (how about some spray bottles strategically located throughout the gym) Don't sit on a bench and play on your phone. Let's authorize some overtime for your cleaning / maintenance staff to come in once a month and tighten bolts and get those hard to reach dust balls. Overall, I love it here, it's the best option in town. Friendly front desk staff, clean, and 99% of the members are respectful and have gym etiquette. Oh, and don't curl in the squat rack! read more

I have been going to this gym for about four months now and my overall experience being a member is excellent. All the various GB3 gyms are nothing short of first-class establishments. I usually visit the Palm and Nees gym, and will occasionally visit the Herndon and Fowler and Kings Canyon and Fowler locations. The first thing you will notice when you come through he door is that the front-counter staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. For me, security is very important because I want to know that my vehicle will be safe and secure while I am working out inside the gym. Here, cars will not get burglarized. The parking lot is safe and there is security staff and cameras monitored 24/7. I also found that the members are very personable and pleasant people to work out with. Based on my observation, GB3 members are comprised of, and can be described as, working-class, family-oriented people, business owners, with a good mix of students in there as well. Unlike other gyms in Fresno, you will not find that the ghetto-folks come here to work out. After four months, I have yet to see any prison tattoos or neighborhood thugs at any of the various GB3 gyms in town. This also explains why families feel comfortable and enjoy coming here on weekends. The GB3 facility located on Kings Canyon and Fowler have a supervised play area for kids. So, parents can get their workouts in while their kids are watched by trained staff. The customer service here is first-class and I can give a vivid example demonstrating why this five-star review is well deserved and earned. Two weeks ago I emailed GB3 management making them aware that the lockers could use a thorough wipe-down and that the shower nearest to the pool area was very slippery because the tile did not have a grit surface and because it also it lacked a safety mat. Two days after sending this email, I received a message from GB3 corporate thanking me for my email and advising me that the letter was received and that those issues would be addressed. Within a day after receiving that response, I noticed that all the lockers had been wiped down on my following visit and that the tile in the shower area was acid washed to give the tile better grip on your feet. Additionally, last week they installed a brand new safety mat in this shower near the pool area as well. In summary there are not enough words to express what a pleasure it is to be a GB3 member. I have nothing negative to say about this place. It is well worth the money, even if the monthly fee is slightly more than what you would pay anywhere else. read more

I have been a member for quite some time, and I honestly would always brag about how great this place was, until of course I encountered (Marie - Manager of Daycare) She was so rude and disrespectful. Has no business being manager or being around children. I was literally sitting on the floor putting my 2 year old shoes on when she approached me from the back and stood over me, and very rudely and disrespectful starting talking down on my daughter. When I asked for her name, she quickly covers her badge and states, "what for I'm the manager to all day cares" I do not feel she needs to be around children if she's gonna talk down on their behavior. I am very pleased with the way the staff has handled their setup since the pandemic. The place is EXTRA clean and provides many cleaning stations featuring wipes, hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray. Need a mask? No problem. They also only allow 10 o 15% capacity, which reduces the chances of getting sick. Maddie is the best manager thus far and is concerned with providing a safe and comfortable gym to exercise in! Unfortunately some of the members are a little selfish and try to wear their masks incorrectly. But Maddie o another staff member patrols the facility to insure everyone is wearing their MASK...I hope George keeps Maddie there.Yes! read more

I like this gym . Since I moved to Fresno, I think it's a lot more cleaner than 24 hour fitness. The only thing that sucks about it, is that it's not 24 hours. Kid who works in the mornings with an Edgar haircut is seriously either always high or just dumb. Any question u ask him takes 30 seconds to just say he doesn't know. Always has his headphones in so when you ask him something he goes "huh?". I have asked him when can I take my picture for my card, and he says idk I can't do that. Asked him if there is a class schedule. He told me it MIGHT be online. So what do you do?? Just sits there and looks high. He needs to be taught customer service basics. I'm not a Karen. In fact i usually don't complain. But dam this kid is annoying to just try and get a simple questioned answered. On top of that, just walking in everyday and everyone having to get his attention instead of him greeting people, just shows he wasn't trained to be at the front desk. Go to the gym everyday of the week! Love this place. I go to the GB3 in Clovis on Herndon and Fowler. Very busy on Mondays. Friday and Saturday nights are the least packed. Love the Dance fitness and cycle classes. Super clean, always see the employees cleaning machines when no one is on them. I figured they would let her try it out with me, like a guest pass. They would only let her in if I added her to our account right then or if I payed $10. So much for longevity. The gym is great but I'm giving it 1 star because they really need to add supplies for members to wipe down the machines before and after using them. I know there's staff that go around and wipe down the machines but it doesn't look like there's enough staff to keep up with the amount of people that are using the machines, especially when it's packed. Other than that the gym has a great selection of equipment and all the machines are comfortably spread out. GB3 is a mega gym. By that, I mean it's huge. There are approximately 40 treadmills, 10 ellipticals (without moving arms) 20 ellipticals with moving arms, stationary bikes, stairclimbers, etc. And, this gym has just about every type of weightlifting machine you can need. ALSO, there is a pool, which honestly isn't too crowded. So, if you're looking for an inexpensive gym to simply "work out" and be around people who may inspire you, this very well may be your perfect gym. However, here are my problems with the gym: 1. These gyms are not clean. They DO NOT provide any materials for wiping down cardio machines after use. Completely unacceptable, in my opinion. Basically, bikes, ellipticals, etc., are used...drenched in sweat...and then left. For you. To use. Gross. These gyms are FILTHY. 2. They don't provide free towels. I'm sorry- give your members a towel. Towels keep the sweat controlled in a nasty, sweat-filled environment. Charge us $5 to keep the gym clean and give us a towel! 3. There are a lot of meat heads and girls trying to attract mates. Ugh...perfume, cologne, boobs, biceps...hey- maybe that's what you want. So annoying to me. 4. The front desk girls have personalities of...wait- they have zero personality. Also, they imply that you're causing them trouble when you need to tell them your member number to enter the gym. Why hasn't GB3 provided cards for scanning? Honestly, I HATED having to tell the girls my number because it was agonizing! 5. Child care is okay. Here's the run-down, and take it or leave it: It costs $2 to leave your child at GB3. When you leave said child, s/he will be amongst 30+ children ranging in ages 2mos-10 years old. There's a huge flat screen TV that has movies continuously playing. There's a massive play structure for kids (great for getting kids moving). They provide some play materials (markers and paper), but for the most part, it's not a very...creative environment. Not sure I ever saw books, Legos, blocks, a play kitchen, etc. Some kids do well, while others (mine) honestly didn't like it. So, I hope that gives an accurate assessment.
