This store really came in clutch for my solo canoe camping trip in Moab. Only giving four stars between the prices on much of the gear seemed 2-3x their normal price, at least for what I'm used to. But being one, if not, the only real camping place in Moab, I can see why they charge a premium. I LOVED though how they provide free filtered water at front, even if you use your own water jugs! I filled up a 5 gallon water jug and was so grateful I didn't have to fill up at my hotel. read more

Great outdoor gear shop in Moab. I wanted to get my first pair of trail runners and some socks to go with. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with product recommendations. He was able to explain differences in brands, specific styles and ultimately I got a pair of shoes and some socks that are now my "go to" brands. Market price for the name brands. I was absolutely desperate for some good trekking sandals. Before Moab, there is nowhere to find any between Capitol Reef and Arches. With a wide variety of shoe options, we were thankfully able to find a pair that works well for me here. They have a huge selection of sturdy flip flops, sandals, and hiking shoes. Their selection of everything is vast, from socks to climbing gear. They literally have everything - including the kitchen sink - and give great advice on the local parks! We were able to get hiking sticks, sandals, and good advice on hiking in Arches here. We could even refill our water bottles for free, which is great before or after a long hike. We went for some hiking equipment and found a friendly staff and a great selection of equipment, attire and shoes. We were lucky to meet Bill who not only showed us Moab hospitality, but took the time to suggest trails and local favorites. Good selection of shoes for woman but had a narrow selection of shoes in my size. The person who helped me with shoes was patient and continued to go check inventory to make sure I was able to try on everything available in my size. Not only the best gear-buying experience I've ever had, but the best sales experience I've ever had, period. I was right at the outset of a two-week solo trip through the desert when I wandered in. If this shop doesn't have it, you likely don't need it in Moab. They've got nearly everything you would need to supplement your awesome Moab trip. During our camping trip, we stopped by a few times to purchase the items we forgot at home. Water shoes (Chacos, way better than those $10 shoes they sell everywhere else) to wear rafting, a grill for the camp fire to cook burger and dogs on (the one at the campground was a bit sketchy!) and a beanie to keep our heads warm while we were sleeping (90+ degrees during the day but a bit chilly at night!). They even have a spigot to fill your water containers, which is incredibly important in Moab... you can't drink too much water! I have full confidence saying that if you need it, they'll have it! read more

Visited Gearheads on a recent trip to Moab for Arches + Canyonlands. I have nothing but good things to say about these folks. The selection is huge, REI prices but local and in a more compact layout. Staff was friendly and knowledgable about the products they sell - and were honest with me about what I would not need for our day hikes. We also stopped by every morning to fill our hydration packs with the free filtered water, which was super helpful! It's great to know that if you forget something for your hiking trip that there is a place you can go that won't charge you the same vacation town pricing that many of the restaurants do (I'm looking at you, $22 pad thai). I will absolutely return when I'm in the area again. read more
