I had to put down my elderly cat due to severe health issues and they were able to fit me in within 2 hours. What a relief. I found the office staff to be capably equipped, overly caring of my situation and most of all, PROFESSIONAL! The Doctor was of the highest caliber and so supportive. What really sealed my feelings for them was when they came in with a wonderful, zippered bag to put my 'Little Girl' in and carried her to the vehicle for me. This to me is going over and above anyone else! As far as costs, they were very reasonable (not to mention they were less expensive) then 2 other quotes of $180.00 and the other of $580.00 for the same procedure! I guess the last one had a payment due for their Farrari? From my great experience, I will be letting everyone I know who to call in their time of need and I will be changing from my former Vet who only wants an E-mail and will get back to me in a week or so as they had done to me in the past! It's good to have a vet that understands both the animal and the owner. I won't take my dogs anywhere Update. I had to take my put in for a spay last week. It'll set you back about 500 dollars but they did a really good job with it. The pup is about nine months and she's already doing a lot better. I'd take another dog back here again.

I will admit my experience truly depends on which vet (DVM: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) I see. I am partial to Dr Moffett and her folksy down-home charm, and Dr George and her straight-forward but gentle analysis. Dr Bone owns the place but he has morphed into an older curmudgeon. Don't piss him off. My most recent experiences required Dr George to assist me. The last time was in euthanizing a paralyzed 14-year-old Aussie SheperdX. That was emotional enough. And last week I had to come in for an emergency appointment to get a three-month GSD male puppy examined for lethargy. Dr. George was right on, as she suggested I get my pup Hansel tested for parvo. Sure enough, the test came back"definitely positive." Luckily I am a good pet parent and had him seen as soon as possible, even thought that cost me an additional $90 "emergency fee" which I think is cow scat because I have friends who use SAH and who claim they never have to pay that "emergency fee". What's up with that? Are my GSDs not cute enough? Thus the one-star deduction. But anyway... Dr. George suggested I do the home treatment that included IVs, amoxicicillin and anti-puking meds. The cost was $684 but the staff suggested I apply for CareCredit, which I did, which means I could lower my vet bill to $38 a month over 18 moths. (If you don't pay up within that time, interest rate shoots up to 26%.) I was in the exam room for 90 minutes to wait out for lab results. Now realize, this is during this dramatically inflated covid pandemic. I got nothing but professional treatment from Dr George and her Vet Tech Christian, who should also be applauded for organizing collections of food and dog/cat beds for local animal shelters. (Currently it's for Border Animal Rescue) and for the crew up front who guided me for applying for CareCredit. My pup Hansel survived his parvo by Day 4, which seems to be the usual recovery, but I collapsed from exhaustion because I was up all night all ou this past week while my husband was passed out (Marriage is so over-rated). My pets are my family and to see a once-sick dog recover and hop around like a typical goofy, over-dramatic German Shepherd Dog after a potential virus is a godsend. Everything Dr George and her staff told me about parvo was right on, so thanks to all the crew at SAH for saving Hansel. I love that little pup I do have one piss about this place, though. They call themselves an Animal Hospital but do not provide 24-hour care. They need to call themselves a Clinic. PERIOD. Don't argue with me on this one. Even the staff agrees with me. This town absolutely needs a 24-hour care facility but apparently all the DVMs in town have agreed that it's not cost-prohibitive. If your dog/cat/husband gets attacked by a venemous Chihuahua or rattlesnake, you must drive 120 miles to Tucson and bleed out $300+ just to be seen. That puts Sierra Vista back in the 1890s, when even the elite galloped on to Tucson via horse. But I digress. If you have read this far, I will add that SAH does give military personnel an additional discount, so make the front crew know that. Show them your military ID and it gets put into your records, so you will always get a discount for office visits and vaccines. They are open Saturdays, Be cordial to the crew. Treat them as you want to be treated. They work hard and have plenty of other buttholes to deal with because I can tell that many earlier reviewers were expecting miracles from the mortals working in this office.

I took off a star and contemplated taking off another because of the price mainly. I was suggested to spend almost $3,000 to fix a toenail that twisted and needed to be removed. After going through the list, there was a lot of unnecessary suggestions like blood work. After going through it, it still ended up costing us about $800 for the visit, sedation, toe-nail removal, pain and anti-inflammatory meds, and some shots for nausea. I declined multiple other suggestions, that were not needed. Though the check in ladies were very friendly and the vet did get the job done. So ultimately even though it was extremely expensive I'm grateful they got him in same day and they fixed the toe-nail.

You will not see a doctor's name in the front. I've been using Dr Jackson for the past three years. He is a compassionate veterinarian who takes his time talking with his customers. And he also gets down to the level of the animal. He does not use a financial contractor for his billing, which is one reason why his rates are lower than most other DVMs in town. This is also the reason so many elderly pet owners come here. The office is busy and I get better service when I stop in rather than call as I hate being put on hold. My dogs have been treated by other DVMs here as well: Dr Baird and Dr Huff both can be recommended. All three doctors have spayed my animals and all have recovered beautifully with little scaring. And not one of them has talked down to me. I read the other reviews here. Some were written after an emotional loss of a beloved pet. Doctors are not miracle cures if a customer waits until it's too late to treat a disease. None of the doctors here are "quacks." Some patients refuse to have blood panels done before surgery, and that blood test can identify other issues with cancers or organ failure. Many low-income customers may not want to pay $74 for that blood panel, or extra for added pain medication. So these doctors have to work with what the customers allow to be done. Not all animals can be saved. My senior dog Sweetie had her teeth cleaned today and several abscessed teeth pulled. The vet tech Ben was professional and compassionate as he gently walked Sweetie back to the prep room. I waited an hour in the waiting room with all the other anxious pet owners until I was assured Sweetie was healthy enough at 11 years old to get her choppers cleaned. The price was very reasonable: $240 for the cleaning, $100 for five incisor extractions, $40 for one molar extraction, $74 for blood panel, $74 for IV and fluids. The total came to $555.75 with the post-surgery medications. Other vet clinics in town charge far more for teeth cleaning and extractions.

However, when the day came, my cats went absolutely nuts - one was throwing himself against the sides of his carrier, another simply would not go in to his (and mauled me when I tried to force the issue). Along with all the other moving stress, it was enough to have me in tears - we were facing a three-day trip, and if I couldn't even get them to the vet, how was I going to manage on the road? Fortunately she was very understanding and rescheduled the appointment for a time when I had help and she could drive her van over here (probably the shortest housecall ever, as we live all of two blocks away) so they wouldn't have to stay in their carriers for very long. Between my friend and I, we got the cats into their carriers and carried them up the driveway to the van. There was much howling and drama, but the minute they got into Dr. Burke's hands they calmed down significantly. She's obviously had quite a bit of experience with animals and handled them very well; they didn't even protest at the vaccinations. Even once they were back in their carriers, they were noticeably calmer. She gave me some advice on their diet and things to watch for, and a goodly regimen of sedatives and instructions for their use. Her prices were also extremely reasonable; including the $75 housecall fee, it wasn't much more than $330 for all three cats. If there's one thing I'd warn potential customers about, it's that her manner with people can seem a little brusque or impatient. Don't take it personally; she's a busy person, and once she sees your animal, you'll see why she got into this business. She truly cares about animals and will treat yours like they're as precious to her as they are to you. For a nervous pet owner, that's the best thing you can ask for.
