These are probably the nicest people in this business. They are also, like many very nice people, totally incompetent. a Without going into too much detail, One of the main reasons I went to the clinic (among others) was to get my dogs chip information read, so I could update it. I asked them several times to do this and they told me they would email that to me. After I get home they tell me "sorry, we forgot. Just come back in and we'll do it". I'm sure everyone understands how much hassle it is to bring my dog back to the vet. Not to mention time I don't have. As much as I tried to make sure and remind them several times while I was there, they can't see to perform this very minor task. I even made certain to aske BEFORE I left if they had it and they said "yes we'll email it to you". Idiots. I understand people make mistakes. What I don't understand is when I try and try and try to remind them and make sure they don't make the mistake, and then they totally screw up and act like "it's no big deal if we waste another couple hours of your time", I get a little upset. I recently moved to the Vail area from Texas and needed to establish a vet locally for my 3 miniature schnauzers. I was delighted to see a clinic in Vail... I easily set up appointments for my 3 separately. Everyone from the receptionists, vet techs and vet, Dr Amy welcomed me and my fur kids. Another plus is the office is less than 10 minutes from my house. It's always a worry finding and seeing a new vet, but I made the right choice with MVAC. The office is very clean and inviting. We've been bringing our girls Poppy and Violet here for roughly 3 years now. We made the switch from another great southeast side vet purely due to the closeness to our house and convenience, along with a strong recommendation from a friend. So far so great. Vet's on staff are very knowledgeable and appear to enjoy their work (matters when you are talking about your fur babies!) Their staff also seem super engaged and happy which speaks to the management of the practice itself in my experience. 5 hours ago I had to put down my 16 1/2 year old labradoodle, Bailey girl. She was absolutely adored and this was one of the worst things I have ever had to do. MVAC was absolutely amazing. I walked in and couldn't even speak and they hugged me, helped me with Bailey, took me to a comfort room with a giant dog bed and allowed me to just lay and love on my girl one last time. They let me take all the time I needed and gently helped us through the process, loving on Bailey the whole time, speaking sweetly to her and holding me as well. Was a little over a month overdue for a vaccine for my dog. Called to make an appointment and spoke to Melinda and explained i needed to update my dog's vaccination and heartworm test. She scheduled me right away the same day... great! Arrived and sat in the waiting room. Vet tech came out to explain since he was over a month overdue they couldn't just do the normal vaccination and they don't do the 2-3 yr one i wanted. I felt stuck and unsure why we weren't taken back to a room to speak with a vet. Agreed out of distress. Husband took dog out to the car afterwards and i had the displeasure of speaking with Crystal and asked why i wasn't informed of any issues when i booked the appointment. very unpleasant and stated we wouldn't be back in the 3-4 weeks for the ridiculous booster. She was oh so happy to say she'd get the records and when asked for veterinary referrals she was flippant to say there were plenty in the area. Love, love, love this vet office!! Have had appointments with both veterinarians, they are both great! Had to make the difficult decision to euthanize two beloved pets. Received the information I needed and honest opinion of the doctor, which helped me make the right choice for my pets. Mountain View Animal Clinic was recommended to me by a neighbor who had used them to care for her animals for over 20 years. In my case it was time to put down our 15 year old Chow mix. Dr. Hoffman, her technicians and staff were extremely helpful and genuinely cared for our dog and his comfort. At my age I've had to do this a few times and although it never gets easier they made every effort to lessen the pain both to our dog and ourselves. My dog is a regular here and when Dr. Amy strongly suggested taking the rattlesnake avoidance training, I jumped at the chance. She also administered the anti-venom vaccine. The trainer was excellent and gave the group of dog owners an orientation. Jan 1st I received a request for my Opinion around the level of care I had received at Mountain View Animal Clinic.I responded with my honest assessment of how shabbily I had been treated specifically citing the attempt at a guilt trip all but hinting that the reason for the dog's deteriorating spine may have been caused by NOT getting my dog's teeth cleaned.  Very quickly I was given a Treatment plan citing a cost of between $815.66 - $1260.23!  I asked that the bill be revised to reflect only the care of my dog for his leg.I was assigned Account #6856, Invoice #80687 and PAID $266.68. Yesterday I called Rita Ranch Pet Hospital to make a Quality of Life appointment and gave them Mountain View Animal Clinic's contact information so they could retrieve records.I was not surprised when they called to tell me that MVAC DID NOT show me as a client!I told them I was not surprised as I had written a negative review. Evidently, I am to assume that the Treatment Plan prepared by Dr. Amy Hoffman and the Tech:   RLF as well as the receipt of the amount spent are all a figment of my imagination!As are the emails Welcoming to the practice as well the one soliciting my Opinion!! I am a Senior Citizen and do not appreciate this blatant ploy to guilt people when they are the most vulnerable into spending money that will not affect the outcome in any way! This is similar to what happened to me 3 months before my Mother passed away and went to the  funeral home to make the arrangements in advance.  They tried to guilt me into a $250 silk pillow so my Mom's head would not get wet!!!  Yes that silk pillow would have saved my Mom's life! Guilting me into a $1000 expenditure for teeth cleaning on a dog who is at the end of life is a blatant attempt to gouge for as much money as can be made. Denying that I was ever a client of Mountain View Animal Clinic, well I have no words other than 1) they don't care about their patient, only what $$$ they can generate or 2) the owner is clueless or simply does not care or worse encourages the practice. Finally denying that I was ever a client of MVAC despite the modern era of emails strikes me as juvenile and extremely unprofessional. I will make it my mission to tell everyone I come into contact about my experience with Mountain View Animal Clinic. My negative review is due not to the healthcare provided to my pet, but due to the behavior of the person who handles billing. I took my pet in to have some growths on her skin removed. They were going to put her under general anesthesia. I knew that they would want to also do a dental exam and cleaning, but my pet didn't need it. (This according to the vet on a previous visit.) So I told them that several times when I arrived and started to do the paperwork. But the paperwork included a long, confusing list of items. While telling the office staff that my dog didn't need dental, I drew a bracket beside the items that, as I thought, included dental, and then wrote "declined" by the bracket. However, evidently my bracket didn't include the item I was trying to decline (which was the item just above the bracket. So they did the dental, to the tune of over $300. When I got the bill and objected to the bill for the dental, the office manager just said, "Well, you signed the paper, and we did it. No refund." She was disputatious and curt, as if it was an argument she was determined to win, not a customer service encounter she needed to deal with effectively. She offered no "I'm sorry about the misunderstanding" or any other recognition that they had some responsibility. I mean, after all, all you need to do is look at the paper I signed. CLEARLY, I was trying to decline SOMETHING. I was not trying to avoid paying the bill for the dental work. I can afford it and, more importantly, they had found and removed a broken tooth, so I'm glad they looked at my pet's mouth. But the billing manager assumed that I was not worth being believed. She assumed that I must be lying. I resent the insult. And I won't go back again to Mountain View Animal Clinic in Vail. read more

When I met Dr.Viv and saw how much she loves animals and how my Marty licked her face I knew she was great. Also liked how informative she was, so I knew I was in good hands. I called to schedule an appointment for one of my pets because the cat is really sick. When I scheduled the appointment two weeks ago I was told the soonest They could see my pet was the 18th of February at 1330. When I went to check in I was told that there was no appointment for my pet and they were unable to see the animal. I had to call back to see if I could get ahold of the office manager or even the vet just someone in charge. I was informed they were out of the office today. Very disappointing to say the least. Dr Viv is really great as is the office staff. My dog does not like other dogs and is often rather difficult in just seeing other dogs in the waiting room. When the time came to put my Abbie girl down, I e-mailed Dr Amy on a weekend day asking if she offered at home euthanasia and sent photos of my pup's worsening condition. She responded within minutes telling me she will see if she can get a tech to assist. We set the time, and she came to my home. To preface this review is only of the front office only. I never got to meet the Veterinarians, so they may still be great but I'll never know because the front office was very disappointing. I recently moved to Vail and needed to find a closer vet than the one I used to go to who's an hour away now. I made an appointment for my 8 week old kitten to establish care. A couple days before the appointment my kitten had been having several days of diarrhea which can be serious in young kittens. I called the office asking if they by any chance had any cancellations and let them know of the situation. The young woman who answered bluntly told me "Well, we are completely booked." and did not offer any other options such as where to go for emergency vet care or if an exception could be made by asking the doctor. Since she didn't offer any alternatives, I asked if she has any recommendations to which she again bluntly told me "I'm not the doctor so I can't give any." Again, another chance lost to recommend an emergency vet. When most people call regarding a sick pet they are usually scared and worried. To be met with such apathy doesn't put much faith in the office. Before I hung up she did finally offer to leave a message for the vet but added that she wasn't in the office yet. I told her that wouldn't be necessary and I ended up calling my previous vet who also told me they were completely booked but due to the serious nature of the symptoms they would ask the doctor right away if they could fit me in the same day. They were kind and gracious and got me in within two hours. That's the kind of care you would want from a vet office. I called back Mountain View several times to cancel my appointment for my kitten and was unable to get a hold of any live person and even got hung up on once. I had friends also have trouble with the front office picking up the phone and they too have taken their kittens primary care elsewhere. The front office is so important to any medical practice. They are the face of the clinic. Their kindness and compassion can really make a business stand out from the others. Unfortunately, the front office here leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Mountain View is the best vet clinic I have ever been to. I started there in 2007, unhappy with my current vet. We have been going there ever since. Everyone who works there is just wonderful...caring, kind, and friendly. They took such good care of my three black labs over their entire lives. I love mountain view animal clinic! We have two dogs, six cats, and 9 rabbits that are all seen there as needed. We had one incident where our new kitten caught pneumonia and was salivating and having trouble breathing and they squeezed him in on such a busy schedule so we didn't have to spend thousands of dollars on an emergency clinic. They are so reasonably priced and you can tell the staff there really care about animals and there well beings. read more
