The eel avocado rolls are a favorite, and the California rolls are always reliable. Everything I've ordered has been fresh and well prepared. One thing I appreciated: tips are included. I was about to add one manually, and the bartender stopped me and let me know it was already built in. I actually liked that: no awkward guessing, no accidental overpaying, and it felt fair. The space has two clear vibes. I usually sit in the front section, which is mellow, softly lit, and relaxing, with a view of the sushi prep station. If I'm out with higher-energy friends, we'll move to the other section, which feels more like a bar with a few tables and a more festive weekend energy, sometimes with music or a DJ. I've also been here once outside of happy hour and spent around $50-$60. I left full and satisfied, though expectations may vary depending on what you're used to. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience. On Friday, July 11, I went to Giesha for dinner with my best friend since we live in the neighborhood and wanted to enjoy a nice evening out. I ordered a sparkling water that was served in a sealed blue Saratoga bottle along with a cup of ice. Since the bottle was sealed, I poured my water into the cup without thinking twice. We enjoyed our meal, paid the bill, and stayed for a little while to chat. Before leaving, I picked up the cup to pour the rest of my water into it. After taking a sip, I looked down and saw a small roach floating in the cup. I immediately notified our server, who took the cup away. A few minutes later, he returned and told me that the manager said I could receive a discount the next time I visited. That wasn't what I asked for, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting anything at all. He also mentioned that he tried to get me a refund, but the payment had already been processed. What disappointed me the most wasn't the lack of compensation and it was the complete lack of accountability. The manager never came to speak with me personally, despite the fact that I could have potentially ingested a roach. A sincere apology and a direct conversation would have gone a long way in handling such a serious situation. As someone who lives nearby and wanted to support a neighborhood restaurant, this experience was extremely disappointing. I hope Giesha takes food safety and customer concerns more seriously in the future so that no one else has to experience something like this. read more

This place is cute and intimate! The music choice can be better because it really doesn't match with the vibe of the restaurant. The staff is friendly, fast, and attentive. I love this place for the scallion pancakes lol! The scallion pancake is hands down one of the best I've had. It's crunchy and buttery. The dipping sauce just makes the scallion pancakes 100 times better. I'm not a sushi person, but the AAC rolls are amazing! They're fresh, and the avocado in the roll makes it creamy. I got the vegetable hibachi; the rice was so yummy, and the veggies tasted fresh as well. Miso soup is given with the combination, but I'm not a big fan of the miso soup because it does separate very quickly, which gives the soup an overwhelmingly salty fish oil taste. I like this place, but I can say it's extremely overpriced for no reason. The food is good, but it's not $40 for just one plate great. I ate here twice. The first time I came it was really good, but the second time I came I tasted the inconsistency, and it was overwhelmingly salty the second time; I literally didn't eat my food. DANGER! DO NOT GO! GRAIN ALCOHOL MARGARITAS! I go there regularly but yesterday when I went there were all new people. I ordered my Tom Yum Soup and 2 frozen margaritas like I usually do. The first margarita was watery but I figured they had just turned the machine on. The second one though was just as watery and I don't remember finishing it, paying my check or walking home. I woke up about 10 hours later, looked in my freezer and saw that I brought 2 margaritas home. They have been in the freezer all night so they should be very frozen but they are just as watery now as they were in the bar. ONLY GRAIN ALCOHOL DOES THAT. Water freezes into ice. 80 proof alcohol (40%) freezes into slush, perfect for frozen margaritas. 100% alcohol doesn't freeze! THAT'S WHAT IS IN MY FREEZER RIGHT NOW. I already called the police. They already came to my apartment and took video of these watery margaritas in my freezer. I am hoping the police shut them down TODAY BEFORE THEY POISON ANYONE ELSE! On a Friday evening a friend and I decided to try out Geisha for the first time. To my surprise it was really empty so I thought we'd have a quiet dinner which is exactly what we both were looking for. Unfortunately that was not the case here. The music was so loud it was hard to talk to my friend and she was sitting right next to me. I am rating it three stars not because of the food or service but solely because the atmosphere of the restaurant did not match up with the vibe they were going for. The restaurant seems like it would be intimate and cozy but instead was more like a hookah lounge with food. I also believe the restaurant is based off the movie Geisha so that made the vibe even more confusing? Regardless, on to the food. The food was okay, my favorite bites were the scallion pancake and filet mignon. The edamame was a little too hard, it wouldn't come out the pod lol. I had the chicken and filet mignon hibachi combo which I sent back and asked for steak only. The chicken was oddly soft to the point I wasn't sure if it was cooked HOWEVER they did refire the dish without hesitation and the server was very nice about it. I was happy enough with the fried rice, veggies and steak. Each dish was seasoned nicely and served hot. Throughout the meal the service was swift and attentive. No complaints on service! Instead of focusing on assisting customers, they were promoting personal side ventures and approaching guests about products unrelated to the business. Honestly the worst dining experience I've EVER had. My boyfriend and I decided to come to dinner here a few weeks ago, he told me not to write a review but honestly it would be an injustice if I didn't. He and I sat down and were offered menus by the server, we attempted to order the Crispy Tuna, to which the server replied. "You don't want to get that, it's sent back a lot". Um yeah, never said to me ever by any establishment so I was taken aback. We ended up ordering the Tuna Lover, asking and making sure MULTIPLE TIMES, that it was gluten free. My boyfriend has literal celiac disease so this was a very big concern. The server was completely clueless and had to go ask the chefs multiple times if it was gluten free, to which they replied yes. Shocker! It was not. Some of the sushi pieces contained tempura, which my boyfriend ate. I called the server back and told him it had tempura and he shrugged, he didn't speak english very well so I had to clearly explain to him that tempura contained flour. He picked up the plate and brought it back to the chefs asking if it had tempura, to which they replied yes, then asking if it had flour, to which they replied yes, and then asking if it was gluten free which they replied no. I honestly don't know if it was the chefs fault or the servers but needless to say they essentially poisoned my boyfriend leaving him with a stomach ache. There was honestly nothing notable about this restaurant, the food was low quality fish. The service was absolutely terrible, the server was huffing and puffing back and forth to the chefs stomping his feet like it was my fault he messed up. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and well maintained. Even with music blasting on the street outside, they maintained a quieter and pleasant atmosphere within. The staff was lovely, inviting, and efficient in their service. We had the roti canai, the tuna roll, the spicy shrimp cucumber roll, and the spicy girl roll. The roti itself was light, flaky and delicious without greasy residue but the curry had little chicken and lacked the bold flavors and spice one would normally expect in the dish. The two regular sushi rolls were fresh and satisfying, although on the blander side as compared to the times I've had takeout before (perhaps an off day?). We both loved the special spicy girl roll, however, given the nice kick delivered by the jalapeño and spicy sauce! Overall, this was a good experience for a spontaneous dinner, although I think the takeout was better. Prices are definitely steeper for the area and the portion size, especially for the special rolls and sushi/sashimi a la carte. Still, I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Service was fairly swift and amiable, although it was surprisingly not really packed for a Saturday night but it could also be the neighborhood or the fact that it's the summer. The food we got ranged from decent to good. If I were to give it a critique of the food is that there seems to be too many different items on the menu. Like the Harlem roll, which I got out of curiosity was fine but probably not something I would get again. Like there's also Thai food on the menu too?? The seared tuna we got was very good. This is my go-to restaurant for sushi delivery - not a lot of sushi places deliver all the way up to Inwood, but that's ok, because this one never disappoints! The fish always tastes great, the garnishes on the nigiri are surprisingly inventive (chopped jalapeño, yuzu compote, crispy rice pearls, etc), and the rolls are super satisfying. My husband and I usually split the Sushi for Two and order an extra roll and a few nigiri on the side to make it the perfect amount of food (we both have a big appetite though). I have been coming to Geisha Sushi for a very long time. I usually order from them and have gone for dinner and recently have gone a lot for their happy hour. I think their happy hour is one of the best deals in Manhattan. The happy hour menu has drinks and food and it is everyday which is very difficult to find in Manhattan. I will write specifically about my visit last night. I had three drinks lychee mojito, lychee margarita and a mai tai. The lychee mojito was ok; for my taste it did not taste enough like lychee nor did I have a lychee fruit then I had the lychee margarita and I think this was better but I still did not get the lychee fruit. Then for my last drink I had the mai tai and that was good. My friend had mango mojito and he said the mango margarita was better. The food which to me was the star of the happy hour. I ordered alot the geisha rangoon which is Crab Rangoon. This was so delicious perfectly cooked crispy and the filling had the right balance of crab meat and cream cheese and taste. It was not greasy and I loved this dish. The other dish was the Latino roll which has chicken instead of seafood. This to me is a perfect item for someone who is allergic to shellfish like my friend is. I ordered the yum yum roll which has shrimp tempura with cream cheese and maduro on top. This toll was a heavy toll and I would say if you order this you probably need anything else. I did not know this and ordered more food the pork gyoza which I enjoyed and it is the perfect dish to share. I also ordered the pork buns which were not very flavorful and were too fatty; I also think the bun would have benefited from a sauce and having the pork cooked more. Overall the meal was very good and the price was amazing. The service was good and they informed us when the happy hour was ending which I thought was very nice of them. I forgot to request it, and Anthony went above and beyond to verify with the kitchen that none had been put in the Pad Thai. He also suggested the leeche mojito, and it was amazing! Delivery Review: I was in the mood for kimchi and this was one of the few restaurants that had fresh kimchi available in my delivery zone. I ordered avocado and cucumber roll, eel and avocado roll, and kimchi. The rolls were tightly packed in one tray. I was given 1 soy sauce and a smidge of Wasabi.
