I arrived around 6:30 on a Tuesday night and dining area was empty except for me although a few other tables filled while i was eating. I love this sort of Japanese street food. The only thing holding back a 5 stars is I do think it would be better with just a little more sauce, and I might have imagined it, but it tasted to me like the oil might have needed changing, but overall I have no hesitation to come and dine again. read more

3rd location of this popular chain specialized in ramen. The menu is the same as in the other locations. I couldn't see the 2nd floor, because of a private party, but this location seems to have comparable seats to the 125th Street place. Service is very good as usual. Pork buns: delicious. Spicy Tonkatsu ramen: my second favorite of the ramen they have. Kakuni ramen: they serve you a huge piece of pork belly... very succulent. I wish they kept the same proportions of noodles and broth they serve in the tonkatsu ramen. Since it costs a bit more, I was disappointed to see much less broth and noodles. It's nonetheless my favorite. Overall, this place is as solid as the other two. They ain't cheap, but the quality of what I usually order is high. I should probably try other options from the menu to compare with other places. The chirashi bowl is delicious, but I haven't had much else. read more

Decent ramen. Not the best but also not the worst. Ordered the karu Tonkotsu ramen containing a Mild. Creamy and rich, full flavor broth created from slow cooked pork bones. Served with chashu pork, pork seasoned boiled egg, and shishito peppers. Topped with shredded scallions, sesame seeds, and black garlic oil. Thin Noodles as well. The music was very weird and did not flow. I get it was maybe trying to be inclusive but it was everywhere. Rock, then hip hop then asian, then rock, then pop, then rap. Service was okay. My friend, husband, and I came here for late night dinner. It's definitely tightly seated in there so not ideal for big group. Our server was friendly, but service was a little slow. The multiple menus were a bit overwhelming but realized the menu with the pictures and the menu without the pictures were the same menu (probably could've only done one of them lol). trekked over to hamilton heights to visit a friend and we grabbed some dinner here. turns out this restaurant actually made it to the michelin bib gourmand list :O their menu is full of the classic appetizers and ramen dishes that you'd expect to see at your average ramen joint. the portion sizes here are massive and definitely worth sharing with a friend! otherwise you'll have plenty of leftovers like we did what we ordered (* = my faves): -drinks: spicy yuzu*, butterfly pea tonic -chicken nanban buns* -kani salad -kakuni (braised pork belly) ramen* -shio ramen -chcoolate cake unfortunately the dessert we wanted to try (swiss roll cake) was sold out, so we opted for the chocolate cake instead. it was good but definitely ate that cake while we were a bit disappointed :') the kakuni ramen was a little bit sweeter than i expected, but it was still savory enough to satisfy the rich ramen broth itch. i think shio ramen is underrated, and this spot did a good job with it! a little bit *too* salty for my taste, but that's what shio ramen is supposed to be right? the chicken nanban buns were definitely a top favorite dish of the meal, they were packed with flavor and each bao bun was overflowing with delicious saucy chicken. also the spicy yuzu cocktail was super interesting, i didn't think i'd be able to finish it given i'm SO bad with spice but i did it! the bottom of the drink was where all the spice ended up... finishing that drink was a fun time XD. read more

There were two people I could see working and about six customers including us. We gave up 40 minutes of our lives for nothing. My issue with the place is that they decided to position the communal bathroom sink in an area with no door. Therefore, when a customer washes their hands EVERYONE in the restaurant is treated to the sonic sound of the hand dryer doing its job blowing water off epidermis. *This is the only location for this chain that I've been to* The space itself is smaller so you definitely want to make reservations for groups bigger than 4, I'd say. The staff has always been pleasant, and it's pretty easy to get their attention if you need something. There is a small space upstairs, which I assume is for parties, but I've never been up there, so I can't confirm. The major entrees are the ramen and rice bowls (my favorites are the kuro tonkatsu ramen or the sukiyaki don), which are all pretty savory, and delicious, and have a generous serving size. They also have dry noodles (without broth) and some curries. The kelp salad is nice and refreshing, and the appetizers are pretty solid (the chicken/pork Nanban buns and the kara-age are the best, in my opinion). Don't expect cocktail bar drinks as they don't have a full bar, and the mixed drinks are likely made from premade mixes, but you get exactly what you'd expect. The beer and sake are good, though (I can't remember the names of them but the cloudy sake option and the sake described as 'earthy' are nice). Overall a nice spot for date night (probably not a first date, depending on how much you're trying to impress) or to satisfy your ramen/rice bowl fix. read more

YES YES YES. For me the most important element in any good Ramen is the broth. It must have depth of flavor and be served at the right temperature. The complexities are not easy to get and Jin Ramen does an excellent job. Great atmosphere, decorative and not obnoxious- good for a date or family lunch. The waitress and staff were lovely knowledgeable and not pushy. I highly recommend this location as well as it's only a few months old and still has that new car sparkle. read more

After a much delayed opening (4 years in the making), this mini ramen chain has finally opened its third location and all on the UWS. For now, it's just dinner service as they're adjusting to the new business. Menu would be identical to the other locations, so expect their variations of ramen, including their Hakata style ramen, but also hiyashi chuka or zaru soba as refreshing cold noodle to close out the summer. Or go for the donburi and appetizers. With their lunch specials, this restaurant would be a boon to Colombia students and staff. read more

This location just opened so in their defense they need some more time to establish themselves and have an acceptable level of consistency taste wise, but the broth of the ramen I had was awful. Otherwise the staff was pleasant and fast. The ambiance and space was good. If this place had more competition near by, it would go out of business in 6 months but I am hoping that the awful taste of the broth was a one off. I'm so glad this little place opened near me! I went there today and the food was so great especially on a cold day. I had the Shiyo ramen and pork buns. The broth was soo good and well seasoned. The interior is very cute and the service is wonderful. A cute lil date spot. It was around $17-18 per bowl but I truthfully think it was worth it. The food at this location is consistent with the other locations to our relief since this place is just around the corner for us. The service was well organized and attentive. The. downstairs sitting space is good sized, not sure how they move the food upstairs which may affect service if they are carrying the food up the staircase. Would be nice if all locations would add a dessert menu and bring back the tea they used to serve. read more

This past Friday (yesterday) was an exceptional experience at this restaurant. Having only been here once before and going here on a whim for a second time, we had an amazing date night and with the flavors from the food, the delightful atmosphere, and just an overall vibe that's unexpected if you've never been here before. I came here with my husband the first time and we were not prepared for how large the food was but not in a way that was just quantity over quality. The food portion was almost unreal but, yet SO good. We had to take our food to go because we were shocked when we ordered the Gyu don, shoyu ramen, and vegan ramen. We had thought it would be a walk in the park but it was just so much food and it deserved a second attempt now that we knew just how big the portions really were. So yesterday.. we walked in, and were instantly greeted, seated and granted we switched tables .. three times.. the staff didn't even wince, they wanted us as comfortable as can be. We got our food and again, portions; except this time we were more prepared for the dishes. Regardless of menu item, you'll be okay; just get what you want and you won't be disappointed. Fast forward through the night, we hear some whispers about an event on the upper level and ask if it's possible to go and get in with the group. Within minutes, "After dinner, you're more than welcome to go up with the group." Sure enough, my husband finished his meal and I fell short and had to take mine to go so we didn't miss too much of the event.
