Geissler's is a small family owned grocery store. There are currently seven locations, six in Connecticut and one in Massachusetts. They have lots of great fruits and vegetables, plants, and a huge selection of peanut butter. There are smaller brands of product you may find at Geissler's. As expected the prices are higher than at other grocery stores. If you live in close proximity to one of the stores you will receive their weekly flier in the mail. Geissler's probably won't fit your whole shopping cart, but you can find lots of great goods that you may not find at other retailers. read more

Service is terrible. Especially at the deli and customer service desk. Their soups at lunchtime are good. They have a good salad bar but soo expensive- $11.99/lb. Also, their deli meats are not fresh. My sliced ham had rainbow colors in the light. And edges were tan. My half-gallon of milk went bad in two days. What a waste and they will not refund. Poor quality and value. All prices are high. read more

Every small town has its pockets of ignorance and Geisslers in EW is that place. I live within walking distance and they have decent quality produce but on nearly every occasion there are two older women in there who make it a point to let me know I'm not welcome and go past the point of being unprofessional to deliberately discourteous (Grey hair and glasses). It's one of those places where the locals pay twice as much to support but if you are going to pay a premium do yourself a favor, Big Y is a mile up the road, has a better selection, better prices and they actually act like they want your business. By far the worst repeated service I've ever experienced but not anymore. read more

I stop here quite a bit because when I need to pick up something for dinner, it doesn't get much easier than stopping at this very nice supermarket that is more or less half way home on my direct route. Typically, I pick up a salad bar to fill out a dinner. I've always found their selection to be pretty good and the stuff is always fresh. They have bean sprouts and pea pods here, and they aren't too easy to find at other salad bars-they are perfect for stir fries. I don't really buy grocery bags and bags of stuff here (pricing is a teense higher than the bigger boy stores) but I did pick up a container of blueberries yesterday for a super competitive $2.99. They also have a hot bar and a markdown section up front where I go treasure hunting once in a while. The front staff is friendly and pleasant, and there is always tons of parking in the big lot they share with other stores. They are very reliable and I stop here regularly. read more

A few weeks back I used self check out a 7.99 item rang as 9.99. Every time I tried to get someone's attention the clerk put his head down and turned away. I had to pay then go to the customer svc desk for my refund. My next shopping trip the same item still said 7.99 and there was a 1.00 store coupon. The item rang as 8.99. Because of the store coupons they did not correct and honor their posted price, it was not listed as a sale price. Additionally a 9.99 item rang as 10.99. They refunded the 1.00 on that one but it should have been a full refund. My husband likes their deli cold cuts but I feel like I can't trust them to honor the prices they post. Am so grateful that these folks are here. Super close to my new house, VERY rarely crowded, selection may not be the broadest but the veggies and fruit are fresh, the meals-to-go are phenomenal, the folks there are low-key lovely and prices (mostly) quite reasonable. Pro-tip: find the local yogurt sold in a large-ish container, mmmmmmm delish. Also the Tuscan bread, our family of four can hammer through a loaf in a day. I just moved a few minutes away from Geissler's and I'm already pretty excited about it. Any grocery store within a five minute drive feels like such a luxury! I've visited a few times since moving last month and prices seem comparable to some of the larger stores around (Stop & Shop, etc) although Geissler's is locally owned. I'm pretty impressed by the prepared food section and will definitely snag something there next time I'm in a rush. Can't beat those $6 rotisserie chickens. On my most recent visit, one of the managers was walking around asking customers if they needed help, etc. Such a nice touch and something you wouldn't find at a larger market. Glad to live in the neighborhood so I can make this a regular stop. read more

This is a tiny grocery store that is ok when I need something on my way home from work but their produce section is super small and I'm pretty sure they don't have any fresh fish. I stopped in one day to get some salmon and everything was frozen. I wouldn't make it my go-to store but it works in a pinch. read more

Geisslers is convenient and works for us. I do my larger shopping at Stop and Shop to get the gas points but I prefer to support a local business when I can. The bakery is great, always smells wonderful in there. Very clean store. Soup bar has a great selection. Never tried the hot bar but always tempted. pre-packaged sandwiches and meals are always fresh and handy when I'm running late to work or not interested in cooking dinner. Decent selection of items. I come here out of convenience since it is two minutes away from my house. Always a good place to pick up so good rotisserie chicken though! $6 will get you a whole chicken and I can get my grocery shopping done too. Really just your average grocery store but it gets the job done for local residents who don't feel like making the drive to the Stop & Shop that's ~10 minutes away. read more

I used to really love this place, but they went up on their prices and the quality of food at the hot & salad bar went down. I went in there a couple weeks ago and got some fried chicken wings, which were raw on the inside. The other day I bought some pre-packaged chicken salad that was bad. Turns out it was still on the shelf past the date sold stamp. read more

This locally run market boasts great food and products. The fruit and veggies are always fresh looking. The bakery and bread selection is always delicious. The staff is very friendly and ongoing as well. I like the size of this store as it boasts almost every kind of item you are looking for. read more

PROS - No Marketing cards to get discounts CONS - Deli Department -- Many people standing around, at best you only get one person to wait on you while others then still hang out. Wouldn't it be nice if the others wait on you also so that your experience could be better. CONS - Paper in plastic bagging. I have a pick up truck and need the bags placed in plastic so they do not roll around. When I ask, I get a few bags that way, but the rest are ignored. COME ON HIGH SCHOOLERS.....LISTEN! read more

Expect very poor customer service on a regular basis. The hot food bar always has old rock hard wings that have been cooked to death by the light and left there all day that they expect people to buy and eat. It takes less than 10 mins to fry the wings and they never want to even when asked to do so from a customer willing to pay for all the wings they fry. Very lazy, disrespectful and nonchalant employees and management. If you going to have a hot food bar serve quality hot food that people can actually eat. Its ridicoulus. read more

went in to Geissler's this evening at 7:45pm. I wanted to pick up a few items including some zucchini. There was none to be found and when I questioned one of the employees she said that it had been put away....all the squash had been taken from the shelf. I realize I should have asked to see the manager but I didn't want to cause any problems. I have to say that I was very annoyed that the employee made no attempt to get me the squash. The store closes at 9...we were there more than an hour before closing. read more
