This was the most horrifying nail experience I have ever had. My cousin and I went to just get regular polish and it was scary. The place was disgustingly dirty, it was filthy, dust covered every surface, it was very messy at the nail stations and the methods they used were questionable. When cutting the cuticles they cut our skin and made us bleed. The nail polish went everywhere but our actual nail. I do not recommend this experience to anyone unless they want to be tortured, never going back and spending my money here. EDIT: I went back and a dif tech redid the skinny nail and made them all match length. :) no fuss im adding a star and bringing my mom next time for her nail So I got a full set of shortish coffin shaped nails Everything went fine, i was worried about people not being told to wash their hands but whatever My tech would listen to me if i noted something was crooked, but when I went home I really could tell they were slightly wonky. Maybe Im obessive but one middle finger was shorter and one pointer was less wide. I filed them at home a bit so its fine. Keep in mind I dont get acrylics often. Friendly service, average prices, and the salon is clean. They prefer cash, but take credit cards, I didn't know this before, so I used my credit card to pay the bill and the ATM to get cash for the tip. They actually have an ATM in the salon. I had made an appointment Friday evening after work, just to be safe and I didn't wait. Not sure how it is on a Saturday, but I'd probably make an appointment in case it's busy. Been here twice for gel manicures and will never go back. They're one of the few places in the area to use an autoclave to sterilize tools, but it's not worth terrible customer service and polish that won't come off. The first time I visited was on my birthday. I wanted to find a specific color to go with my dress so I arrived 15 minutes early. When I walked up to the door, I passed a man sitting on the curb out front smoking a cigarette. Not thinking anything of it, I checked in and started looking at polish. I looked out the window and the man outside stubbed out his cigarette, came inside, and asked if I was ready to get started. I was surprised he was my technician and even more surprised that employees are allowed to smoke right in front of the door to the business. I still had plenty of time before my appointment was due to start so I told him I wasn't ready. He came back 2 minutes later to ask me again, and I said I still wasn't ready. He told me to bring the color swatch I was holding over to the table so he could get started. Still well before my appointment time, I was annoyed and told him I wasn't sure I liked anything on the swatch. He didn't seem to care so I just hurried up and picked something. I didn't like the color, and the polish was messy. It seemed like the technician was in a huge rush. Flash forward 5 months, I needed a manicure for another event. Based on others' reviews, I decided to request an appointment with the owner, Nina. The experience was much better - plenty of time to browse colors, Nina was sweet, and she did a nice job. However, when I went to remove the polish today, exactly two weeks later, it would not come off. (I've been taking off my own gel polish at home using aluminum foil wraps for years with no issues. It usually takes around 45 minutes because I do each hand separately.) After 3 hours, 5 rounds of wraps, and even soaking in a double boiler with acetone, I finally managed to get *most* of the polish and base coat off. Never again! read more

I gave specific instructions on my eyebrows because I have a scar that separates the hair. I told the lady before wax even touched my face I like them thicker not too thin and please keep hair above the scar. Midway through she shows me in the mirror and everything looked good. She decided to remove the hair because she said "it look better" and after I was done and I saw them she just kept repeating "it look better" over and over. Someone recommended this salon to me. I went yesterday and I had the worst experience. On my way to the appointment, I broke a nail. It broke off below the nail line. I mentioned this when I arrived. Before I knew it, the technician started cutting my nails very quickly. I could see that they were cut very short right down to the nail lines. She had cut all of my nails to match the broken one. This place is fabulous!! We typically go to Somersworth nails but had heard of Gel Nails and Spa from a few friends and wanted to try it out. I don't think I'll ever go anywhere again!! Employees here were very friendly, the business is clean, well laid out and relaxing, prices are fair and all of the nail techs are extremely talented. I was able to pick a design off Pinterest on the fly and my tech did it with no problem. My nail technician that gave me my pedicure was incredible. She offered me the different packages and I chose a signature pedicure. My last TWO I experiences at this place has caused me to write a review. The last time I was seen for a fill and a pedicure, I was very clear prior to starting the appointment that I'd be paying with a card. And despite both technicians trying to talk me into using their in-store ATM, with "JUST A $1 FEE", just to save $3 for each service done, I was firm about using my card because I don't carry cash with me. They both said okay. By the time both services were completed, the shop was prepping to close just after 6PM, even though their hours state 7PM as the close time, and a couple of the workers left. "Cindy", the nail technician, tells me (as she's putting lotion on my hands) that the girl who just left already closed out the credit card machine. I was LIVID, to say the least! I believe the workers are paid in cash at the end of the day and the shop saves on credit card fees they're charged with each transaction, and most likely get an incentive by having their clients use their ATM machine. I left irritated that I was forced to use it at the last minute, what if I didn't have the money in my account? Smh HORRIBLE, MISLEADING WORKERS!! Three weeks later, I decided to try one more time with them because I really like Lee, my pedicure technician, so I called one evening about 5PM to schedule an appointment for myself and my daughter. The person who answered is the one who sits at the first nail station to the left, as I recognized her voice but couldn't remember her name. I scheduled a fill and pedi for myself and a full set for my adult daughter. She said, "come in at 8:30AM?" I said, "in the morning?" She said, "YES, 8:30AM tomorrow." I had thought they opened at 9AM, but was thinking they're coming in early for that weekend or something, so I agreed. We showed up the very next day at 8:30AM, after driving 30 minutes to get there, only to be greeted by a dark shop and a locked door! NEVER AGAIN WILL I (OR MY 3 DAUGHTERS) GO THERE! **We ended up going to Mai Spa Nails next to Market Basket down the road and Kim - the owner - ALWAYS TAKES CARE OF US!! Go there! read more

Called to get a leg wax at 6pm for a wedding that was in two days. When we got there, the women said the wax tech wasn't there because she was tired from her vaccine. Why in the hell would you tell someone, who specifically said it was for a bride, cancel at 6pm when we are already there and everywhere else is closing? What is wrong with you? If you knew the employee was not going to be there, they should have said no 2 hours ago. On top of that we waited 20 minutes before she came up to us to tell us the waxer wasn't even there to begin with and wasn't coming back. Also multiple people in there were not wearing masks. The bride had medical reason that she can't wear one and we believe the owner just didn't want to do it because she wasn't wearing one. Why don't you ask? She has medical reason you idiot. The women doing my nails didn't wear gloves until I asked her to please put them on (only put on one) meanwhile every other technician was wearing them. I went to Gel Nails & Spa 3 times for an acrylic fill. I was very happy after my first appointment, service was quick and my nails looked great. One thing that was odd to me was that they did not have me wash my hands which i've always been told to do in the past at other salons. My second appointment, I noticed a spot underneath the acrylic once the color was removed. My nails had no cracks for anything to get trapped underneath and when I pointed it out to the nail tech and questioned what it was, he ignored it as if it was nothing to be concerned about. Again, I was never told to wash my hands. My third and last time going, the women doing my nails did notice the spot and told me that the nail needed to be removed. I again questioned what it was and she brushed it off as nothing too serious. She then removed the nail and below was a dark green stain on my natural nail. She attempted to buff off the stain and replaced the nail. The tool she used to buff my nails was then put back into her box of other tools without being sanitized. She didn't wash her hands or have me wash mine. After going home and doing some research, I discovered that the green spot was actually a type of common bacterial infection. I have since removed my nails and will never go back there again. I can't positively say that the salon caused this infection (although the lack of sanitation leads me to believe that) but I will say that they took no sanitary precautions once it was discovered!! It was a horrible experience. Me and my friend weren't greeted then spent 40 min waiting before someone said anything. I went inside while my friend waited outside. The man doing my nails had no clue what he was doing. He spoke absolutely no English and messed up my nails repeatedly. I made sure to say I wanted to keep the length and have them square because they are my natural nails. He proceeded to shave my entire nail off right down to my finger and it was round and I was heated. This happened within 20 min during which my friend patiently sat outside with no word from any employee. After I tried to explain what I wanted I was told if I wanted them to be the way I asked I would have to wait an hour for another technician. Ridiculous and a waste of time.
