    Fresh gelato

Gelato Vera is located in Mission Hills conveniently on the corner of Washington and India St just off the 5 freeway. They make their gelato fresh in-house and change flavors regularly. The service is very friendly and fast! Prices are quite fair for espresso drinks, pastries and delicious gelato. Reminds me of Italy! It's a small cafe but there are bistro tables in the back that are comfortable. Paid street parking but if you park up the street in the residential area it's a very short walk.

Scoop of espresso and a scoop of pistachio gelato in a cone

Passed by this location months ago and wanted to give it a try but my stomach was already happily way too stuffed for additional Gelato dessert. This time, I made sure to save some room after having a delicious burrito across the street. The interior was inviting, a cute little spot to grab a coffee or gelato. Had the cone with a scoop of espresso and a scoop of pistachio. The gelato was creamy and delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness. So perfect even for a cold winter day in December. The service was quick but also attentive.

I want to thank Hannah F for her review complaining that the chai was "too spicy!" I knew immediately this was the place for me!! Finally, a REAL chai in San Diego!! House brewed blend is everything you want in a spicy masala chai: ginger forward, spicy, sweet, and a perfect kick in the taste buds!! So good I had to order a 2nd cup to go!! After days of hunting for a decent chai, this was the cherry on top of our SD trip. A cute, cozy corner cafe with local art, chill staff, and indoor/outdoor seating. A must stop for chai lovers everywhere!

Super lovely spot and it's open till late?? Score! I can't believe I haven't been here before, but I've drove past it several times with my dad. I came today and it was a great meet up spot for a big group. We hung out upstairs at the top level. It's super spacious and there's many tables available. I love the number of windows here too, a very nice breeze and lighting. The bathroom was located here as well-- the bathroom has quite the character...and view. Downstairs is where you order, they have small seating inside near the gelato area. And then they have more seating outside in the front of the shop. It's super cute. The prices for the drinks are really nice, great pricing esp for 2025! They even have gelato and sorbetto which looked amazing (but not for breakfast). I got their $5.75 Iced Caramel Macchiato, I believe I got their 12oz! I like getting 12oz for lattes and such because I think it's the perfect amount of espresso to milk ratio (plus sweetener) This one was pretty tasty and stayed cold throughout. The straw was interesting though because it reminded me of in n out or McDonald's. In the evening, I sampled about 3- I felt greedy so I didn't ask again. Although the woman gave me generous sample sizes. I tried their vegan raspberry sorbet, but it was too sweet and thick. It reminded me of açaí. The Tahitian vanilla looked promising but it was a thick consistency with some icy bits and you needed to chew it a bit-- if you know what I mean. The flavor was ok. I ordered a Small Cup, Two Flavors, $5.55 (Coconut sorbetto-- this is vegan & chocolate hazelnut gelato-- not vegan). The consistency of these two were smooth. The coconut was full bodied and rich in flavor. The chocolate hazelnut had a great hazelnut taste with a milk chocolatey taste. They barely melted in my cup which is great. (In the morning) The woman who took my order was so friendly and sweet, I love her vibe. The guy was pretty nice as well. Overall, the workers had great attitude. I'd recommend this spot! Price and quality is great. You won't regret stopping by.

Their latte (with Soy milk) was awesome. And the little cozy cute ambiance makes everything special. Hope these local shop grows more & more.

Hands down best gelato in SD. Period. It's a cute little corner spot with a small interior but feels very authentic and quaint. Very OG SD vibes. Better flavors and quality than the more hyped up fad gelato shops. The employees behind the counter are nice and friendly. I've tried their pistachio, vanilla, strawberry, spumoni, mocha rum crunch, and chocolate hazelnut. All flavors were perfect and the Right amount of sweetness!!! The texture of their gelato is also different from others, stretchier. Creamy & very fun to eat! Sometimes will order an affogato (espresso + gelato flavor of your choice) and that always hits too. Quality coffee + quality gelato = heaven. Cmon now what more can you ask for We can't help but get pints every time we come here!

Fast and friendly service! Somewhat easy parking and a cute upstairs area!!!! I got the chocolate hazelnut and pistachio gelatos. My friend got raspberry and coconut sorbets. I love that you can do half of each flavor! The line at An's in North Park was too long so we came here instead and glad we did!

Gelato Vera Caffe is my neighborhood coffee spot. The staff is always pleasant & the coffee is delicious. I've tried many of their bakery items & none have disappointed! The carrot cake, baklava, and bagels are all delicious :) I like to bring friends when they visit to grab an after dinner gelato on the way home - they have a wide assortment of flavors & the gelato is always incredible - takes me right back to Italy! There is a small indoor seating section & additional seating upstairs. It's a quiet yet busy cafe & perfect for getting work done or studying or chatting with a friend. There is also outdoor patio seating, as well. This whole street is quite cute with restaurants.

My friends and I were just looking to get a coffee in Little Italy, but when we walked in and saw all the delicious treats we had to try something else as well. I ordered a latte and neglected to tell them it was for here so I was given a paper cup, but they give real cups if you ask. The latte was good, and my friend bought a kitchen sink type cookie with chocolate, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It was warm and gooey good! Another friend tried the gelato and said it was very good. There are a few tables inside and tables out in front outside. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful San Diego weather. The decor and tables definitely gives you an old school Italian neighborhood vibe with Italian markets right next door. If I am in the neighborhood again, I would definitely come back here to try the gelato and/or a piece of an excellent looking lemon pie bar I spotted.

The decor and setting is cute and quirky, including cow sculptures hanging upside down from the ceiling. There were only a couple other visitors when we arrived, as it was near opening time. Our dishes took a whopping 35 minutes to be ready, and service was not very friendly nor helpful. Luckily, the music playing through the speakers added a nice vibe to the place, songs like Our House by Madness and Can't Fight This Feeling. We ordered the brunch pizza (with eggs cooked overeasy) and the breakfast flatbread which looked almost identical when served, as well as an iced mocha. The quality of the pizza was pretty average, and the eggs were slightly overcooked. The drink was really good, made fresh, with a smooth taste and a nice sweetness to it, the plastic cup coated in chocolate sauce. It tasted more like chocolate milk with a hint of coffee, which I personally enjoyed. They typically serve gelato here, but it would not be ready till almost two hours after opening time. So no milkshakes or cold desserts were available in the morning this past Sunday (no worries, Ghirardelli is just a block away). I appreciate the variety of menu items offered here. But they really should communicate online that their gelato's not ready till two hours into the day. If there's one thing that irks me about an establishment, it's failure to communicate appropriately. Even though our recent visit was somewhat disappointing, I still gave 3 stars, assuming this was an off day for them.

We stopped by recently and got incredibly lucky--there was no line in sight, so we walked right up to order! The Cookies: Gooey, Crisp, & Perfectly Balanced My wife decided to try a trio of cookies, picking out Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter Reese's, and classic Chocolate Chip. They completely nailed the texture. Every single cookie hit that golden sweet spot--warm and gooey in the middle with just the right amount of crisp edge. What really stood out was the balance of ingredients. Chocolate Chip: Perfectly measured so you get sweet chocolate in every bite without feeling overwhelmed by chips. Peanut Butter Reese's: An absolute dream ratio of rich peanut butter to chocolate peanut butter cups. Snickerdoodle: Perfectly spiced, striking just the right "snicker-to-doodle" balance! Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the ice cream. I ordered a combination of Cookie Monster and Campfire in a single scoop. The portion size was remarkably generous--it completely filled up the small cup and delivered a fantastic mix of flavors. My wife went with a scoop combining Espresso Oreo and Mint & Chip, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, these were easily some of the best desserts we've had in a very long time.
