Two scoops of gelato in small cup $6.50 I got to try a few gelato flavors and I didn't really like any of them. I thought the espresso and strawberry ice cream was good first taste so I got them. When I sat down the chairs were all over the place inside and tables had stuff on top of them from people except one table. Gelato was mid, I could've gotten Ben and Jerry's for the same price and better taste. I think for the strawberry I liked it because of the strawberry pieces, but the gelato was lacking flavor. And gelato is made up of milk less cream but it's didn't have that milk taste... I got espresso to wake me up but I feel like they should add more of the flavor into the gelato. Really wanted to like this place because I live so close by walking distance but I don't think I'd come back here anymore. Overall gelato was bland and could use a better recipe. I'd like to gate keep this spot but it just wouldn't be right. I've been coming here for over 15 years, and it's still my favorite place to grab gelato. Every flavor is incredibly smooth, rich, and full of flavor, whether you stick with a classic or try something seasonal. Banana and strawberry is my all time favorite but their vanilla is also something to talk about. The shop is petite but has a warm cafe feel and the staff is always friendly. Passed by this location months ago and wanted to give it a try but my stomach was already happily way too stuffed for additional Gelato dessert. House brewed blend is everything you want in a spicy masala chai: ginger forward, spicy, sweet, and a perfect kick in the taste buds!! So good I had to order a 2nd cup to go!! Super lovely spot and it's open till late?? Score! I can't believe I haven't been here before, but I've drove past it several times with my dad. I came today and it was a great meet up spot for a big group. We hung out upstairs at the top level. It's super spacious and there's many tables available. I love the number of windows here too, a very nice breeze and lighting. The bathroom was located here as well-- the bathroom has quite the character...and view. Downstairs is where you order, they have small seating inside near the gelato area. And then they have more seating outside in the front of the shop. It's super cute. The prices for the drinks are really nice, great pricing esp for 2025! They even have gelato and sorbetto which looked amazing (but not for breakfast). I got their $5.75 Iced Caramel Macchiato, I believe I got their 12oz! I like getting 12oz for lattes and such because I think it's the perfect amount of espresso to milk ratio (plus sweetener) This one was pretty tasty and stayed cold throughout. The straw was interesting though because it reminded me of in n out or McDonald's. In the evening, I sampled about 3- I felt greedy so I didn't ask again. Although the woman gave me generous sample sizes. I tried their vegan raspberry sorbet, but it was too sweet and thick. It reminded me of açaí. The Tahitian vanilla looked promising but it was a thick consistency with some icy bits and you needed to chew it a bit-- if you know what I mean. The flavor was ok. I ordered a Small Cup, Two Flavors, $5.55 (Coconut sorbetto-- this is vegan & chocolate hazelnut gelato-- not vegan). The consistency of these two were smooth. The coconut was full bodied and rich in flavor. The chocolate hazelnut had a great hazelnut taste with a milk chocolatey taste. They barely melted in my cup which is great. (In the morning) The woman who took my order was so friendly and sweet, I love her vibe. The guy was pretty nice as well. Overall, the workers had great attitude. I'd recommend this spot! Hands down best gelato in SD. Period. It's a cute little corner spot with a small interior but feels very authentic and quaint. Very OG SD vibes. Better flavors and quality than the more hyped up fad gelato shops. The employees behind the counter are nice and friendly. I've tried their pistachio, vanilla, strawberry, spumoni, mocha rum crunch, and chocolate hazelnut. All flavors were perfect and the Right amount of sweetness!!! Gelato Vera Caffe is my neighborhood coffee spot. The staff is always pleasant & the coffee is delicious. I've tried many of their bakery items & none have disappointed! The carrot cake, baklava, and bagels are all delicious :) I like to bring friends when they visit to grab an after dinner gelato on the way home - they have a wide assortment of flavors & the gelato is always incredible - takes me right back to Italy! There is a small indoor seating section & additional seating upstairs. It's a quiet yet busy cafe & perfect for getting work done or studying or chatting with a friend. While my husband wanted to try the chai, I'm a die hard coffee head. Got an iced Miele which was a perfect combo of coffee and sweet with just the perfect amount of cream. Gelato Vero Caffe is a cafe in the Mission Hills area that specializes in a variety of beverages (mainly coffee), and desserts (gelato being their calling card obviously). As I stated in a my previous review a million years ago, Gelato Vero Caffe is by far my favorite gelato shop and cafe in all of San Diego. Ambiance: Gelato Vero has two stories, the bottom being the cafe, and the top floor having additional seating. There is also outdoor seating here as well so no matter what your vibe is, Gelato Vero probably has you covered. The outdoor seating is great to sit and chill when we have our typical SD weather. Mission Hills tends to catch great sunsets so that's a plus as well. The upstairs area lends to a similar vibe, but also is pretty quiet so it is great for studying or having a more intimate hangout with friends. Food/drink: the gelato here is top tier. My normal go to flavors are the tiramisu (though I think they sadly have not had it in a while), spumoni, and stracciatella. Their sorbets are also very good for the sweet/tangy lovers and refreshing for hot days. The gelato/sorbets definitely remind me of those in Italy. The coffee is also solid here as well, and I love the Italian sodas. Service: the workers here are always very nice and good with suggestions. The caffe is also kept clean and maintained and that's a sign of good service. In summary: I've been coming here for probably over a decade now and that love and loyalty still stands to the point of delusional madness, but it is warranted. Gelato Vero remains one of my absolute go-to spots and guaranteed recommendation for visiting friends or anyone asking for recs on new places or cafes. read more

My favorite Gelato. I had taken our son herr once and he remembered it so well that he said straight out:" Dad, can we go to Gelato Vero this weekend?" My sbsolute favorites sre the sorbettos. Its hard to get good sorbetto in the US. I am from Germany and there Italy is close and every village has an Italian ice cafe run by actual Italians! This used to be my favorite gelato shop, and I used to tell everyone it was the best in town. The last time I visited, I found that they had changed the recipe to their spumoni gelato. Instead of chocolate chips, there were very thin shavings of chocolate. I only found one cherry while there used to be many. And I didn't notice any nuts in it. It was more like eating vanilla gelato than what I was used to. I'm assuming the recipe was changed to save money, but I'm not sure. This is the absolute best gelato outside of Italy. All the flavors are great but I always get their Spumoni. I had this spumoni when I was a little girl and this place is the first place I have ever found it again. I thought maybe I had made up my childhood memory of an all white spumoni. Hubby and I visited for our first time today and what a little gem we've found. Staff were friendly and helpful. Stopped by for a treat one afternoon before visiting the topiary garden nearby. Cozy little cafe gelateria, a hop and skip from the airport and Little Italy. Small seating area inside to back after and counter and the gelato, which had 2 tables occupied - as well as about some more tables on the front patio. I was feeling chocolatey and they had a choco hazelnut and a plain chocolate gelato that I was able to sample. The young lady standing behind the counter was friendly and helpful. I ordered a regular chocolate and pistachio in a small cup (they can do two different flavours) and took it to go. I think sitting inside or outside to enjoy the ice cream would have been fun too but it was a lovely day out. Parking is not super awesome but not bad either. There is a small lot down the way and had spots when I walked by. Also available are metered street parking. I enjoyed my gelato. A friend recently told me that their stracciatella was delicious so will definitely be back to try that next time. read more

We came here after dinner at the sushi restaurant across the street. The staff was friendly and the ice cream was decent. If you're looking for a cute ice cream parlor, this isn't it. It's probably the least appealing and most depressing ice cream shop I've been to, and I've visited many different places. There was no effort in making this place look remotely welcoming. The shop was small and cramped, but even if it were roomy, you'd want to take your ice cream elsewhere. This is not the place you take someone you want to impress. Amazing ice cream I have gone back so many time and no flavor has very disappointed me, but my favorite has to be the spumoni. You don't find that flavor very often so I was overjoyed when I saw that this location served spumoni! Also, their ice cream isn't too sweet and has nice big chunks of fruits, nuts, or chocolate, depending on the flavor you get! The shop is very small down stairs, but if you go upstairs, they have more seating and a cool atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating in front of the store. Gelato Vero is the perfect place to stop in for dessert after grabbing a burrito at Lucha Libre or El Indio or a sub over at Rubicon. They have a good number of flavors, although I was surprised not to see a straciatella on the menu! Their portions are big and they don't hold back on loading in those scoops! Their gelato is very good! It has a unique taste that is almost different than others I've tasted here. I don't know how to pin it down, but it is very smooth.
