There are tons of different buildings, and it seems to lend itself to various different types of active adult, assisted living, and other retirement living solutions. * The grounds are also pretty well kept. We visited in the winter primarily, so I cannot say how it looks in the spring, but it was quite scenic even then. * The meals looked to be of decent quality, though we did not partake in them ourselves. Ma didn't seem to complain about them either. * The amenities were ample, I think. Each room had a TV, though her room was shared with another resident. It was difficult to get a feel for normal daily life there. * The security was pretty tight I noticed, too, at least for motor vehicle traffic. Also, the building had a watch-person manning the front desk. The lobby included an apiary, which was inviting and cheerful. This is where my praise stops, however. I cannot say I had any positive experiences with any of the staff, outside of the front desk person. The folks at the gatehouse were usually pretty curt, but the nurses and orderlies were downright appalling. Only one I met had any kind of friendly bedside manner. The rest seemed annoyed to be there. I would not personally recommend this facility, but you should really talk to the residents to get a better perspective from life on the inside. For me, as a visitor, I was unimpressed where it mattered most: patient care and experience.

An Addendum: I thought I had reached an understanding with Fetsko that I would be able to give a friend of mine the remainder of my personal belongings that would not be allowed in Assisted Living only to find there was no guarantee that they would still be there!!!!! My mother broke her hip and was sent to the Village. She has aphasia and cannot communicate. Sadly, she was not looked after with care or compassion. Response time was 20 minutes on our first day when she was having stomach issues. My father and I were there every daytime and never saw a health care manager. If you did see nurses/aides walking around, they either ignored you, displayed an attitude if asked a question, or were on their phones. We saw several other family members in the halls looking for people to help their loved ones. The PT, OT, and social worker were nice but the rest of the staff said things like; "not my job" or "let's hurry up I get off at 7:00". My dad had to hire 24 hr care because we were so uncomfortable with the impatience and lack of care. The staff we hired confirmed our worries and agreed it was not the right place for mom. We have moved her and are now much happier. She has consistent care, PT, and activities.

Pam, who runs Asheir Manor, was continuously patient, inventive, and optimistic to help Mom adjust when her dementia and paranoia and her inability to sleep at night threatened to make her time there unhappy or even impossible. Finally, medications and changes to her routine resulted in her last months being happier and better adjusted. When it was time for Mom's final days, Pam helped us in every way, including allowing hospice to make her last few days comfortable. I highly recommend Asheir Manor.
