A solid 3 - this has been the most expensive gel pedicure I've gotten ($60) with the fastest service I've gotten. They didn't do a great job of cleaning up my cuticles or edges but I felt like it was fine for a pedicure. I think for the price I expected better quality work though. I am very disappointed in my experience at Gem Nails. I booked out two hours with Annie for me and a friend. When speaking with the person making reservations he told me that the full set with design would take a hour each so we will book out that time. The duration listed online is approximately 45 mins without any design. I had brought in a relatively simple design compared to other designs I have had done here. If she couldnt do the design, I would have appreciated a heads up and I would change my design. My nails took an hour and half and when finish upon first glance they looked good but then when I looked closer the nail detail was sloppy and unfinished. The picture I showed was very clearly thick overlapping lines while what I got was stringy, wisp, uneven and inconcient lines. When I was finishing up at 2:30, a women with a reservation for that time came in for nails with Annie even though I had booked her for that time. My friends nails were even worse compared to mine. They look completely unfinished and scribbled on. There was left over nail polish on the side of her fingers as well as her natural nail wasn't fully covered by the dip. It was very unprofessional to rush through my friends nails because she was behind and overbooked. I raved about her to this friend and it is quite embarrissing from what she recieved. Now, I haven't been to Gem in a little while however when I went in the past the pricing was very reasonable pricing for their designs which is why I kept going back. I am always willing to pay for quality work and service. They had done random pricing for the designs each time. There was no consitency. For the design, I was charged $20 for a subpar job and frankly a simply design compared the other designs (see below) I have gotten. For example, I was charged $10 for flames on all my fingers. I was charged $5 for tips on a SNS when I was unaware that I would be charged extra. I kept telling her I wanted an acrylic set but she was pushing SNS saying I was unable to do what I want. I was hesistant to agree with and did not want to continue debating. I was not disclosed any additional fees for my services. While I was finishing up my pedicure, I overheard the male technician agressively trying to upcharge to a women's young daughter to get gel because she was young and would mess it up and they don't have time to redo it. I found that very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Overall, the experience was so bad. I will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. I would like a refund but after reading other reviews from dissatified customers, it doesn't look like refund is possible. What a waste of money! I will be disputing this charge. The only resolution at this point is a refund. Annie has done an amazing job in the past which is why I am so disappointed. read more

Booking with Annie is the best choice possible! She is great except maybe on a mad day she did not do as well so to me this place is unreliable. Booking with ken is a nightmare! On at least two occasions i have seen him being hostile with a customer and with another coworker! That poor woman does not work there anymore but she was even better than Annie and she was even consistent with her work! To be specific, a customer asked about the process because her other nail tech did it a certain way and ken was doing it differently. ken REAMED THIS POOR OLD WOMAN OUT saying "i know how to do my job. Are you a nail tech no, so just be quiet and let me do my job." And she kept simply sweetly saying "okay i just wanted to understand" as he continued putting her down. As many people who have worked here and were nice and did a great job, they all leave or get fired. Ken has had many negative reports and reviews and he's STILL THERE. He has got to go, he makes EVERYONE uncomfortable... i get anxious going here because of him and his toxicity. Anh the owner is wonderful and very polite. I called and asked for an appointment and they were able to fit me in the same day. Anh did both, my pedicure and manicure. The inside is nice and clean and VERY organized. Their polish selection is great and the staff is very knowledgeable. They have a steady crowd coming in so I highly recommend you call before you walk in. They were accepting walk-ins (went as far as taking a customer 10 minutes before closing time and called a technician back in to work on her nails). They have a summer promotion running until the end of September so I got a great deal on my mani/pedi. I love how my mani and pedi turned out. What good does it do that you will "fix" them? when I finally get released from the hospital I have no transportation to get there and not allowed to drive. My daughter and I went to this salon. I had an appointment for 10.15am. I didn't specify any nail tech. So, I was attended to by Ken.. I had the worst experience with Ken yesterday (4/13), for a pedicure. He was clipping my cuticle on my big toe and I told him twice that it hurts. He got mad and said that i was rude. I told him what is rude about saying you are hurting my cuticle. He got up and told me to "get out of his shop". He was ranting and raving. I was shocked!! My daughter who was sitting in the waiting area, came over and asked what's wrong.. he said I was rude. I am not a rude person. I told my daughter that i told him he was hurting my cuticle, and he said I was rude. He started yelling at my daughter, and was all up in her face. he called her stupid. My daughter said to him, It 's my mom's birthday and you are ruining it. He said " I don't care, get out of my shop" He said i am calling the police! I said for what..Ny daughter said go ahead and call the police. With my pedicure not done and toes still wet. We left the shop. He came out to the parking lot yelling, was obnoxious and very rude. He came to to my daughter's car; was recording and yelling.. i have never experienced such hostility and embarrassment in my life. My daughter then called the police to complain about him. The police came by took our statements.. He then told the police that I owe him $15. after throwing me out. I gave the officer a $100 to give to him. she brought back my change. The police then said we are cleared and can leave. But she cannot make him delete the photos on his phone (private property).. you do not treat your customers with such disrespect..! I felt threatened and discriminated against by KEN! My opinion is not about the establishment. I did my nails with Annie two weeks ago. she was very professional and courteous. read more

Let's start off by saying I gave this place the chance to make it right and it just didn't work out. Look at the pictures! First time didn't bother going to fix them but the second time I did and unbelievably she didn't seem bothered with how my nails looked. This place it's a scam in so many ways. I went twice for the same service and got charged different the second time. Claiming the first time they were introducing a new collection of colors So they gave me a discount I paid $35 this last time $47 but they gave 10% because I brought my niece. I would like to preface this review by saying I have had good nail experiences here at GEM before especially with Annie but this time completely missed the mark. My friend and I had made appointments to get full sets of acrylics with designs at 1pm and 2pm each booked for an hour and we both wanted Annie to do our sets. When we walked in, there were only two employees working and one customer in the process of her service. Upon arrival, we were told that we could not do acrylic sets with the gel designs with no explanation other than the dip option would be better for the nail. I usually do the dip for my nails so I was not opposed; my friend however does not like the dip and said she just wanted the acrylic but eventually had to go with the dip option without an explanation as to why. My friend had gone first a little after 1pm and her appointment had gone until 2:30pm and felt rushed at the end. I started at 2:30pm and as she started on my nails, another customer walked in for her appointment at 2:30 which meant that they double booked and did not leave an hour for each appointment like they said they would over the phone. When the appointment began, everything was going smoothly with the shape of the nail and the neutral base color. I showed her the photo of the design I wanted (attached below) and said that I wanted to change the orange colors to blue shades instead which she said was fine. She began the designs on the nails which I was not paying much attention to as I was talking with my friend who was with me. It wasn't until the nails were almost completed that she asked if I liked how they looked. Upon first glance the nails looks good but not exactly the photo I had. It wasn't until we received our bill and examined our nails that we became extremely disappointed. First, the design I chose was a relatively simple design compared to others that I have done in the past (one example attached below). Upon inspection, the design on my nails was not what I had wanted in comparison to the photo and it looked sloppy and rushed. I understand that not all designs can be easily replicated but I have not had a problem with this in the past. Besides this, the lines are messy, they do not touch or blend like how I wanted, and overall the nail looks unfinished. I believe part of this was attributed to the fact that she was rushing as there were only two employees working and there was a customer waiting for her appointment. Second, my right thumb nail was not fully dipped into the powder all of the way leaving a small section of it uncovered which will cause it to pull away from the nail faster (picture attached below). My nails were also not fully cured under the gel lamp when she said they were done which caused an air bubble and some smudging. My final gripe with this experience was the total price. When I scheduled the appointment I had looked at the website to get an idea of how much it would be. I knew that S&S would be $45 and I assumed an additional amount for tips and the design. In the past, I have paid an extra $5 for the tips and $5 per hand with designs. This time I was charged $5 for the tips, and extra $5 for the matte top coat, and then $20 for just the design which was shocking. There is not anywhere on the website that says how much the extra details would be. The only thing that slightly benefitted me was the 5% discount if you paid in cash which I did. Overall, I was very disappointed with this experience. I do not believe the work I had done was worth $20 for the design alone and would not pay that price again. After reading the reviews on here from other customers who were not satisfied with their services, I get the feeling that I would not be able to get refunded for at least the design charge. I also would not be able to dispute this charge with my bank due too poor service as I paid in cash to get the discount offered. Coming in to get these nails fixed is not an option for me because one, they would need to be completely removed to be redone and two, I had scheduled this appointment out in advanced to work with my schedule to get this done before my vacation. I was there today. I have read the other reviews here and would like to share my experience. The entire salon has been given a facelift and is clean and professional. Today I specifically asked for Ken for a dip manicure and just like a few weeks ago, he did a fantastic job. I never would have tried it, but Ken explained the benefits and is a very well trained tech. I am very happy with the result and will definitely recommend him to others. When I finished, he had another regular client that was patiently waiting for services. She commented that he is well worth the few minutes she had to wait. Only one nail tech arrived when we did, a few minutes before the appointment He did a great job explaining the SNS process to me. He gave great advice when I could not make up my mind about the color. My hands felt do much better after the manicure. Unfortunately, my nails were filed too narrow on the sides. The dip did not fully cover the sides. It looked unnatural for my hands. This was my 2nd dip experience but first time at Gem Nails. It has been 3 weeks. In the middle of it, a random lady takes over and says he has an interview so he can't finish. That's understandable but, really? You couldn't tell me someone else was taking over? This place is absolutely horrible. I went the first time and got my nails done. I felt they over charged me at the end. The next day one nail came right off. I had to go get it fixed which I was mad about because finding the time isn't easy. Then a couple days later my gel polish started to peel. The second time I asked for a certain design. When Annie was doing my nails I told her I didn't like it and she wanted to argue me down telling me it looks nice. NOT! It was gonna take to much time to redo so I had to leave it on and she had the nerve to charge me full price for that ugly design. A couple days later I went somewhere else and had them redone. My daughter when there last week and her nails been popping off every other day. She went in once and got it fixed but since then more have popped off. When we called Annie's husband is blaming it on the powder dip. The problem is they did them to thin. Instead of redoing her nails they want her to come in everything one pops off. On my first visit 3 weeks ago I wanted to give this place 4 stars. Today was my fill appointment and i just want to give 0, so that's why I'm giving 2. The first time I actually waited 40 minutes, even though I had an appointment but I was okay with it because I really wanted to give this place a chance. Both times I went to Mai because I saw her reviews were pretty good. At first, she was doing a great job, she took her time and made sure I got everything the way I wanted it. Today she was just rushing. I chose a color that was apparently too light so I had to pick a different one. I've never had a salon tell me that I need to choose a different color - why do you even have it available if a client can't use it? I've been to so many places and I've always gotten a hand massage at the end - not at this one! She put lotion on my hand and I had to do it myself. The first time I didn't get lotion at all, but everyone does things differently, so I'm not too picky about that. Today the UV light didn't work properly, it kept turning off. I could tell that Mai had an attitude towards me. She was acting as if it was my fault that the machine didn't work. I felt insulted and treated poorly. Last time i was told I could add my tip on the receipt which is great because I never use cash. They also told me that the 20% sale was going til 09/30. Today Mai wanted to charge me full price, I asked about the 20%, she adjusted it and mentioned it's only good til 09/01. Then she asked me where her tip is and i wrote it on the receipt. She said I can't do that and told me to bring her the tip next time. I know I just moved to the area one month ago and I thought I had found a good place but apparently not. The pedicure was great but the male technician was very outspoken about being proud to be an Anti-Vaxer and proclaimed how he wouldn't ever get vaccinated then went on to tell the lady he was working on next to me that he has guns and if anyone were to tell him or force him to get a vaccine that "he would take care of them" . So I gave this two stars based on frankly I think he's a little off and possibly could snap at some point and won't be returning unfortunately and this was very close to where we live. Everyone can have an opinion, and choose not to be vaccinated, but also in a public and professional setting going on a rant about guns and violence is probably not a smart move. Management should probably consider having a talk with him regarding how to interact with customers better. read more

Needed to find a new nail place since relocating back to the area. I booked through a third party platform and GEM accepted my appointment request fairly quickly. When I arrived the gentleman at the front desk was very thorough with my check-in and Covid standards. I had to wash my hands before starting the check- in process. I received a Spa pedicure and it was lovely. The reason I gave four stars is because I've now become a recurring customer and they recently changed part of their pedicure process and I wasn't a fan. If you want to get the cops called on you, go to this place. I was a first time customer and when i got to the store the placed looked nice and the tech seemed nice. I booked the appointment over the phone and was asked what i wanted to do. At that time i was not set yet on what i wanted . While sitting in the salon waiting for my turn i realized i wanted to change what i told them originally .When it was my turn to get the service done i was asked on what i wanted done and i changed what i had said over the phone . The tech then proceeded to tell me that it was an inconvinience to them for the customers to changed what they wanted when they book the appointment. It would have been great for them to inform this disclaimer during booking an appointment so that customers are aware. The way this was handled was very unprofessional. As a matter of fact im not sure if any customers have ever experience having their whole hand soaked in acetone before to remove dipping powder but this is what they have done to me. As far as i know each individual fingers should be wrapped around with foil and cotton soaked in acetone rather than your whole hand being soaked in acetone . After ,the tech proceeded to grind off the fake nail and i noticed some of the fake nail have melted already due to being soak in acetone. During the manicure gel procedure the tech also did nicked my cuticle which causes it to bleed . After painting my nails i noticed that underneath my nails there were still melted fake nails which was not cleaned out by the tech. Not once was i asked to wash my hands even after having my hand soaked in acetone . In addition the old dipping powder spread between my fingers and was cleaned out using acetone AGAIN. Also , i had to point out that there were still residue underneath my nails and when i had asked for the tech to clean it out the tech responded in an annoyed way. Then the tech proceeded to just put oil on my hand . This was very unprofessional of them. Never returning again. read more
