This was my first time at The Gem and I loved it! Everyone at the theater was super nice and welcoming! We saw Footloose. Great singing and dancing. Looking forward to seeing Sweeney Todd and Fiddler on the Roof next.

An I N C R E D I B L E Musical production of GREASE on a Saturday afternoon! I took Nama fir her birthday! The theater is charming! They had a cute car fir photo ops! The Manager was personality plus! The singers and dancers extraordinary! A darling theater in Garden Grove! Celebrating 21 years there! Very clean restrooms! A cute bar/snack bar with popcorn and fun theater snacks! Just a super enjoyable afternoon! We will definitely come back!

I have attended a few shows at the GEM theater over the years. It's an old venue on historic main street adjacent to the Village Green park. There is a sense of early 20th century glamour here. Beautiful crystal sconces, a winding staircase, and a baby grand piano grace the lobby. There is booze for the preshow and intermission. There are lovely cakes and cookies to nosh on. Normally I would remove a star for the seating area, but the venue is old and our grandparents apparently had far less need of leg space. At any rate, I cannot give less than 5 stars. The positive attitude and enthusiasm of the GEM team make up any shortcomings. This is the place to come to see community theater. We heard some incredible voices and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

I love musicals. My family introduced me to the Gem Theater last year with their production of Avenue Q and I fell in love with this theater. It's small and intimate. Well-mantained, beautiful, and clean. They offer food, such as hot dogs, chili, chips, and desserts. There is a full bar. Everything is priced very fairly. I have seen every show they've performed since Avenue Q in 2022 and every show has been excellent. The cast and crew put their hearts and souls into each performance and it shows. The sets, the lighting, the music, the costumes, the singing, dancing, and acting are all top-notch. Each performance is full of feeling and they move me every time whether I'm laughing or crying. Two nights ago I saw La Cage Aux Folles and it had me in tears during parts of the musical and giant smiles in other scenes. It's one of my favorite musicals and I'm so happy to have seen it at the Gem

Seussical the Musical is a must-see at The Gem Theatre in Garden Grove! The lights!, camera!, action! of this show will bring you right back to your childhood and you'll leave feeling warm and happy. This play is based on the stories of Dr Seuss but weaves it's own tales to bring you feelings of joy and tears - and a gamut of other emotions. The costumes are brilliant and the staging an avant-garde explosion of unexpected color! And then the actors: Cat in the Hat (Jack Janowicz) is both evil and clever, with a mixture of Snidely Whiplash and Mr Rogers. Horton (Peter Crisafulli) is affable, tragic and sweet. Gertrude (Nicole Casseso) is full of longing - until she gets what's she's longing for and then realizes she's been asking for the wrong thing all along! The Bird girls add an element of Vegas showgirl with their bejeweled bodysuits and plumage, designed by Costume Designer Luis. And then there's Maysie (Adriana Sanchez) whose charisma charms your pants off and vocals blow you out of the water. Last is Niles Gray as Jojo: a newcomer with the face and voice of an angel! The cast contains 25 actors every one of whom are talented and entertaining. A special shout out to Matt Rangel, a dancer, whose Monkey Boy takes this production to another level altogether. Don't miss this delightful production - get your tickets today!!! Support your local theatre before it goes away!! The Gem Theatre 12852 Main St, Garden Grove, CA 92840

We came on a whim to see Evita with some friends and loved the performance. Our seats were all the way in the back; I would argue that there is not a bad seat in the theatre. The concessions they had were priced fairly and drinks were strong. Downtown garden grove is tiny, but it's cute at night and there is plenty of parking. Come check out this local theatre for something different to do and support their productions!

This is a nice, quaint, family venue in downtown Garden Grove. They have a variety of musicals and focus on enriching lives through the arts. They have many repeat artists that can show versatility in playing varied roles. They have a concession stand that sells alcohol and baked goodies for a reasonable price. Season ticket holders get a few free drink tickets to use throughout the season. There is ADA seating to the side of the stage. Some seats may have a slightly obstructed view depending on the side stage and balcony. Overall a gem of a theatre.

They have about 4 or 5 performances throughout the day but my advice is to get there early if you want a good seat. If the show has a start time of 1PM we would typically start waiting in line at around 12PM. Even then you probably won't be the first people in line but you will still get a good seat. Once the line starts getting long they start making people go up the ramp and start making line up there. Be aware if you start going up your whole party must be with you as they will not let anyone go up that is left downstairs. Be aware that in this are you must fill in all the empty space. People do try to cut to get to the front so just be aware of that. Once they open the doors you enter from all the way up top unless you are handicapped then you are let in downstairs. You can choose to sit up top which is still a nice view but if you want to be up close you will need to make your way down all the stairs to make it to the front. As far as the show for the 2024 season they did change it up and make a just a little bit more modern which I loved. The performers all did an amazing job and of course we all love seeing the peanuts characters perform on ice. It was a great show and I hope they keep it the same next year or if they do change it I hope it is for the better. I do miss the summer show that they used to put on in this theatre. I'm not sure why they got rid of it but I hope they bring it back one day. If you come here during the holidays this is a must see show for all ages.

The show kept my 2 yr old toddler entertained and she was on the edge of my lap watching the whole show. Food was okay, but you come here for the show. I totally didn't realize this was something that wasn't for kids when I heard about it, but it was actually very entertaining and I did not regret the experience!! The plot was cheesy but well executed, and the horses were so cool?? I've never really seen live dressage before and I think this is one of the only places that you can regularly watch it. Pros: - Very easy to get to, especially if you do an uber drop-off to avoid the parking drama - HUGE portions of food- we were served garlic bed, tomato soup, half a chicken, and a pastry for dessert. It's "full-on medieval experience" so you eat with your hands, no utensils. The tomato soup and garlic bread were actually so delicious. Meal also comes with your own choice of soft drink (think lemonade, etc). - There are drinks to purchase, menu is on the QR code at your seat. It was pretty tasty - you get to scream A TON - and it's actually encouraged!! I like spaces like these where you're allowed to be as obnoxious, talk as much trash as loud as you want, against knights that are not the one your section is rooting for. The red knight - staff were welcoming and professional and super helpful - the knights and performers are all super talented! Even though you know the fight scenes are staged, the competition is real and the knights are actually trying to win for real (per our friend who is a knight there lol - it's a real job and they have real martial arts training) - People get super into it, and dress up and groups have so much fun! - They do give you hand wipes, but sometimes it is helpful to bring your own extra Cons: - the drinks are super overpriced because they come with a souvenir cup (which I didn't see explicitly written anywhere when we bought them) that looks kinda tacky lol - the chicken breast and potato was pretty dry, so I would say the food here is very mid and that's not what you should come for - I would wear clothes you're okay getting a little dirty, since it's pretty dark, you can't really see when food splashes onto you - The dessert pastry was also very dry Overall, a super immersive and engaging show with great performers. I felt like the $70 without the extra cake was worth the money.

We did not expect long lines where you check in to receive your seat assignment, which determines your section/knight you cheer on. I think we were seated higher up because we came 15mins before the show started, so if you want front row seats, definitely come early (at least an hour early). People in line were very enthusiastic, and there were people dressed up too! They have a bar where you can get drinks inside cool souvenir cups, and there is a really neat gift shop outside the arena, too! If you come early enough, you can even see the horses in their stables. The show and the horses was spectacular! They do amazing tricks leading up to the jostling and there was a falconer act, too! The crowd work was great and contributed to an amazing energy. TLDR: Come for a memorable and entertaining evening.
