This is a good group for community theater. There is not an excess of talent but there is a lot of enthusiasm. We have seen several plays here and we know some of the cast members. It is a good venue and there is not a bad seat in the house. It is a tad bit overpriced, but compared to a movie, it is not bad. They have a lot of shows and they seem to have a good following. I think if you take the best talent from the Junior Colleges that is what you will find here. Overall I recommend. read more

To be honest, we came here to watch Erik from Improv Shmimprov headline in "Footlight Frenzy." Turns out, he is just as good an actor in a real play as he is at Shmimprov, just as wildly hysterical, and just as thoroughly entertaining to watch. In fact, all of the actors were showstoppers in this one. We even got a chance to meet the cast after the show and congratulate them and chatted a bit with Erik. He told us he'd been busy with the new baby but will be back to Shmimprov in no time. Yay, can't wait! What can we say, we love Erik! And his smiley face undies LOL. ;) The theatre itself is fairly decent, typical of what you would find at most community theatres. I do like that seating is arranged in a "U" or horseshoe shape so the audience can spectate from all sides of the stage and get an intimate view of the actors. It can get a bit chilly inside the theatre as the A/C is cranked up to keep the actors cool during their scenes. Many even brought blankets (mostly sensitive senior citizens) but once the show started we hardly noticed. During intermission, they draw a raffle with all the audience members' ticket stubs and the winner receives two free tickets to a future show at this theatre, AND JON WON!! ;D Now we're looking forward to catching another show at the WCT! read more

Came here to support a friend who's playing in the Wedding Singer on a Friday night. Didn't have much expectation about the place or musical before I went. But it turned out to be a very wonderful experience. The place is run by donation, artists are dedicated volunteers with only band is hired. The show is impressive for a small production with talented performers. It lasted about two hours with one 15 min intermission. At the end of the show, audience have a chance to greet and take pictures with the artists outside the playhouse. It's a very cozy place, with stage in the middle. There is no bad seats in the house. I will definitely go back to check out more shows. Nov 8th, 2019. I saw "A Family Gathering". Is an awesome play. The scenarios are well written. The actors do an Amazing job of portraying life as a person would experience it. I found myself genuinely laughing and crying as I related to the situations as they unfolded. This is a "must see" performance of a family gathering for a Thanksgiving dinner, and what can happen to all of us, from just living Life. read more

Sometimes, I just get in the mood for a good romantic comedy - so I went and saw one. Not just any comedy, but the play Romantic Comedy by Bernard Slade. My friend Liza R. was playing the female lead, and Ana R. and myself drove down to catch a Friday Night performance. The theater space is set in a classic Orange County neighborhood, complete with vintage track housing and beautiful weather. The ticket window is conveniently located to the right of the main entrance. The lobby, filled with photos of the current and past productions, is somewhat cramped for the amount of patrons the theater can hold. During intermission, I found myself bumped and jostled quite a bit from a few members of the audience. The stage is of the thrust variety, with rows of seats along three sides of the performance arena. The staff of the theater were all very jovial and accommodating. Although our reservations did seem to "disappear" from their list, they were still able to give us some of the best seats in the house. Parking is convenient along the street, and there are some good restaurants nearby as well. I would advise printing a map out to the theater. Neither Ana or myself were very familiar with Westminster, and although our directions were indeed correct, Maple Street is very hard to spot going down Goldenwest. I would also suggest getting your tickets for half off using Goldstar.com. Liza R, gave an outstanding performance, and the set of the show was expertly designed. I was even tempted to steal one of the side tables on the set, as it would go expertly in my apartment. But I managed to refrain from committing robbery. read more

We got tickets for friends and sat center section front row. Great seats for a play like "Funny Money" at the Westminster Community Playhouse. We're right in the living room where the action takes place. It was a really good play and we laughed all the way through. The action is non-stop and for an ensemble two-act play, the actors as a group did a really great job. It's rare to see a show where all the actors do an evenly fine job all the way through, but this was one of them. We especially liked that the emphasis is on the dialog and interplay between the terrific characters, not so much the props or scenes. The final week of performances was cut short because of the grand opening next door, so we were especially privileged to have been at the "last performance." You can't beat brunch together with friends, mimosas, and a great swan song performance of a really funny and entertaining play, in a quaint and relaxed theater. Awesome way to cap off the weekend. Well recommended, we will return! read more

Lived in Westminster for around 6 years already, while Garden Grove my entire life before that and I never knew this place existed. Up until I went to check out the show, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change." The theater itself is very small and quaint, but comfortable at the same time. Since it is small, I loved how close the audience was able to get to the actual acting. Being able to see the actor's faces and emotions made the experience more memorable compared to "nose-bleed" sections you get when attending a major Broadway show. During the intermission, they offer coffee and cookies for donations because the theater is getting by via donations (they never had to borrow any money from the city), which is great and shows how they are enjoyed by the community. Would love to visit again whenever there is another show I am interested in. :) read more

First time here, nice little theater. I came to see "love from a stranger." I enjoyed the live play from start to finish, great experience. Tickets are reasonably priced, seats are good too, since the theater is not too big, you can enjoy seeing the play from anywhere you sit. I came with three girlfriends to see "The Women." Since I am a big fan of the original film starring Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell and more...I did not have high hopes, but rather just wanted to enjoy a live performance and the company of friends. We had a wonderful time and were thoroughly entertained!!! The star for me was the actress who played Rosalind Russell's part...a cute little blonde who managed to capture Rosalind's snappy style and humor! It was so much fun! I highly recommend this nice little gem. It doesn't matter if some of the audience members are a little older, there are also youngsters and twenty-somethings in the audience. You will not regret going! I will return soon! read more

The theater has the feel of a church. At least half of the audience is made up of senior citizens. There's a feeling of a need to be on my best behavior. The plays are hardly daring, exciting material, but I haven't been disappointed by anything that I've seen here so far. While I wouldn't bring children to these plays, since adult themes are alluded to in them, the dialogue is clean enough where I would be comfortable with bringing a grandparent. There is definitely something reassuring about having an alternative to the increasingly rude/crude/obscene fare found in TV and movies. Tickets range from $17 to $20, depending on what is playing. A raffle is held from the ticket stubs during intermission, where you get a chance to win two free tickets to the next show. Seating is in a U-shape, almost in a theatre-in-the-round format, except that the backstage area occupies the fourth side. Seating can be cramped if you have a large frame. The recommendation is to get a seat on either the left or right side actually, because the perspective that they can offer is blocked from view if you sit in the center section. If you don't mind a church-like atmosphere, it's worth checking out on a given weekend. Be ready to give the plays a chance, though. They have a tendency to start really slow, but pick up after intermission. read more

This review is for the present production, Aug 5 and 6th for Things My Mother Taught Me. My husband and I saw this comedy play twice because we thought it was so good. It was very funny. The acting is very good and the set is great. Don't miss this play. Only two more days. In general we love this playhouse. We are season ticket holders for close to 30 years. It is a theatre in the round. Two sides and the front. The acting is excellent, sets always have furni ture and all it needs to complete the picture. They do not do imagine what is supposed to look like with different levels of scaffolding like several other theatres do. The singing in a musical is always good. It is a rare play that we do not enjoy a second time.If you have never been trhere, try it out. You won't be disappointed and will want to go again. Snacks are good variety of drinks and cookies and snack mix. read more

intimate view of play with any seat in the house. I would recommend to anyone. I was highly entertained watching Sabrina. it was almost like I was eavesdropping on the scenes we were so close. I love it every actor was believable in there roll. to say who performed the best I think would be based on which character you favored. For being the very first time to experience a live play for my wife and myself. I had to write this review about our wonderful and memorable time we had. We did not know what to expect, but since it started we really enjoyed every minute of it as it took us into a nice emotional journey of laughter in "Things My Mother Taught Me" with an outstanding cast of actors that really made this play come to life. We loved it so much, we plan on going back to see other plays for all seasons to come! We really recommend this for anyone who wants to have an extremely relaxing, memorable time. read more
