    Doorway to show

I have been curious about Pirates Dinner Adventure for quite some time. Given its close proximity to a large theme park and another live entertainment, family friendly location, I feel like it's in great spot to attract tourists. With that being said, I had an opportunity to attend a show during a school field trip. Pirates Dinner Adventure is located in the city of Buena Park. It's adjacent to the freeway, just off of the Beach Blvd exit. The parking lot is small, but I think that there was a parking structure in the back. When you walk inside, there is a large gift shop that has a lot of pirate-related items. The restrooms are also located inside of the gift shop. They are small, so it might be best to use it during the show to avoid long lines. The theater is small, when compared to Medieval Times that is a couple of doors down from here. There is a large pirate ship in the center of the room that is surrounded by a small area of water. Each performer represents a color that it associated with specific sections of the room. If that's your pirate, you will be cheering for them. The show itself is full of theatrics, complete with aerial dancers. They have a storyline that they follow and the audience is fully engaged. There is some audience participation throughout the show. Children get to ride in a small boat around the perimeter of pirate ship. Audience members carry "treasure chests" on their heads to keep the energy going. Finally, they have a few kids dress up in pirate gear poised to take action if the pirates don't cooperate. My students loved it! Food is served throughout the show. My students had chicken nuggets with mac n cheese. We drank lemonade and had chocolate cake for dessert. The adults were served a large piece of chicken with vegetables. I didn't eat much, due to dietary restrictions, but the kids ate all of their food. Pirates Dinner Adventure is perfect for the children. I work at an inner city school and this is something that many of our students don't get to experience. From their perspective, I can see how this would be a hit! They loved it, and that's what matters to me. I appreciated being able to share the joy and excitement throughout the show with my students.

Wanted to come here at least once and glad we did for some nice family friendly fun! Came here for a celebration and had lots of fun. We showed up very early at 7pm which gave us time to peruse the gift shop and bar area. We also paid extra to keep the cute souvenir glasses. Show started promptly at 8 and depsite it being a Friday night, our section remained fairly empty which gave us more opportunity to be involved in the show - LOL! We sat front row and there was a lot of guest interactions. It's a very interactive show enjoyably and unexpectedly so be warned if you're seated in the 1st row. I was balancing eating and participating lol. Food is good - protein gains and seasoned veggies, can't go wrong with that. If you want sauce, they have it! I would recommend for families especially with little children, great for birthdays!

What a fun experience! The decor and environment is so welcoming and over the top. Staff has the best in -character service and they are very attentive. Shorts and tee shirts are fine and dressing up in a pirate costume is really fun for the kids. Overall cleanliness was good, even the restrooms. Great place for pictures in every room. The acrobatics, singing and acting was really top notch! Food quality was a generic style buffet, but not bad... but we didn't come for the food and the show was non-stop entertaining. Kids had a blast watching the show and interacting with the performers. They really cater to everyone... adults too! Definitely a great experience for the whole family. We sat in the top row of the green section and it was a great view. Paid parking was painless. We shall be back again!

Loved the section we got, had a great view

Pirates Dinner Adventure Buena Park, CA Date went 5/30/26 Showtime chosen 7:30pm - full house every section looked filled, parking wasn't an issue Size of party 13 From a kids perspective (5 kids from our party) Our kiddos that attended were age range from 3 years old to 12 years old, and all of them loved the show. Some of them even got pulled from the audience to be a part of the show and go on the boat. They were laughing, captivated, and said that they had a goodnight. The pirate crew did a great job at keeping the entire audience engaged by utilizing "teams" and "games" to get everyone involved. From an adult perspective (7 adults from out party) There were some adult themes that were appropriately conveyed (drunkenness and love). For those who drink, there's a bar area before the theater area. However, one member of our party made a comment that the show felt a little "Vegas-y" with the acrobatics portion of the show. I think for an almost 2 hour show that the pirate crew did a great job keeping high energy and were very physical considering the amount of stunts they did for the show. I say big big kudos to them (as someone who appreciates the amount of effort it takes to do theater and acting in front of a live audience (as a former theater student)). We also purchased the food package, that came with appetizers, dinner, brownies, and a cake for the birthday kiddo in our party. The food was okay, I don't blame them though considering the amount of people they have to feed in such a short amount of time. Some recommendations and things that stood out: - The first thing I noticed was that despite the dishes being washed I was able to see residue on my utensils and plate ****** - The staff were really friendly and I didn't see a single low energy staff, our waiter (didn't catch her name) was really really awesome and sweet - The bathrooms were clean - I'd recommend to add adult and kids joke to the show ****** - I feel like there's a good chance that at least one kid from each section will get picked to come up on stage - They did a shoutout for birthdays Im rating a 4/5 and not a 3/5 because the show is more geared towards children and our children had a great time. The staff were really funny. The pirate crew was very energetic. Parking wasn't an issue. Establishment appeared clean. The show was designed to keep audience engaged. I think it's a great thing to do for a child's birthday if you don't want to worry about cooking, cleaning, and having to entertain everyone. Ultimately an experience your kid will remember as a child. Improvements can be made on cleanliness of dishes, and more adult and kids jokes added to the show.

We went to Pirate Adventures near Medieval Times and honestly, the show was fantastic. The cast was engaging, super friendly and really pulled the audience in. We had VIP seats right up front, so the interaction made it feel extra special. Food was surprisingly good, and yeah, we walked out with those fun souvenir cups. Gift shop is smaller than Medieval Times, but the show is where they shine. All in all, about two and a half hours of pure entertainment. Totally worth it.

Arrrrrrrrgh, an shivery my timbers!! This was absolutely amazing!! From the shipwreck stage to the flying pirates. The show was awesome!!! For some it may be a little to loud as there is a show that contains gun fire so small children may get scared but as for the rest of you scallywags the singing dancing and sword fights are where its at!! The food choices are limited as it is a fixed menu but the chicken was really good and flavorful and the mashed potatoes and veggies were good as well nothing to fancy. We were there to celebrate a birthday so when they came out with the chocolate cake dessert the waiter lit a candle on hers. Very kind and prompt service!

Honestly, so so fun! From beginning to end. When I drove in to find parking, the ladies helping to direct traffic were in character, and at that point I knew that this entire experience was going to be very legit. I went here with a group of friends to celebrate one of our birthdays. We all dressed up in pirate attire and I think that helped enhance the experience haha. The food they served was pretty good! I honestly did not have too many expectations, but they exceeded it. They start off with a normal salad that comes with ranch sauce. That was fine, nothing too special. For the main course, they give a rotisserie chicken drumstick and thigh. It was seasoned just right - not too salty, and not too bland. The chicken tasted fresh and had no strange after taste. The meat was fall off the bone tender. It also comes with some roasted veggies and potato slices, all of which were also seasoned nicely. They offer chocolate cake for dessert and it was good. I was tempted to order some cocktails, but ultimately did not this time around. Would love to try a cocktail or two the next time im here though! The show itself was lighthearted and fun and all the actors did such a great job. My friends were pulled into the show at some point to carry some treasure chests up the ship and that was just so fun. At the end of the show, I managed to snag a picture with the yellow pirate! He was really nice and his performance throughout the entire show was very convincing haha.

A very fun 90 minute dinner and show. Came for the last show at 8pm to celebrate two birthdays with my group. They were nice and brought some ice cream cake for the special occasion and candles. We upgraded to the beef tenderloin dinner which was good and not hard to cut. Had the appetizers and the mozzarella sticks are worth adding. A show about pirates mermaids and a princess. Lots of amazing stunts and a decent story to follow. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't done it before. First time doing the pirates dinner show and would come back in the future for another celebration of some sort. My only complaint was the parking lot was super full and people parked in a way where it was basically double parking making finding a spot a challenge in itself

    The show was incredible!

Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park is a family-friendly dinner theater featuring a live-action show with swordplay, acrobatics, and stunts. The stage is absolutely top-notch! The setting is an 18th-century Spanish galleon with a large indoor lagoon. The show is highly interactive- allowing audience participation. Great experience for kids! Tix include a (4) course meal. The food however was not as I expected- very bland, tasteless and flat. For the price $$$, the quality of ingredients in the food was dissatisfying to say the least! Service was okay! Definitely check out Groupon for discounts. Also, consider the later show to potentially avoid crowds. And be prepared for a $5 parking fee! Is it worth it? Perhaps for the show and the booze! But not the food! Kids had a blast and enjoyed the performance! Would I ever try it again, probably not!

We came here to celebrate my wife's grandmas 80th birthday and we have been wanting to try it out after going to medieval times before we thought this would be a nice change of pace. I'll start off by saying this , the price for what you get is actually pretty reasonable and it's about a 2 hour dinner and show. The food actually really surprised all of us with taste and quality, they have many different options which already is a plus over medieval times. We all got the chicken and my wife got the vegetarian pasta option. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and the seasoning and taste were actually really good. The dessert was fudge chocolate cake that was good too. The service was excellent our server made sure our cups were full at all times and checked in with us many times through out the show. The show and ambiance were good , I wouldn't say broadway quality but decent community theater. The actors could dance and sing pretty good and the stunts were decent. The only note I had was being ear plugs or ear muffs if you're sensitive to loud noises .they use pyrotechnics to simulate gun fire and the audio mixer needs work the microphones were unnecessary loud or just placed in the wrong spot on the performer. I would definitely recommend trying it out at least once or twice just to have a fun little family night out . I will definitely come back once or twice to see if they show changes at all. *Also note that if you sit in the blue or green section parts of the show might be difficult to see cause of the set pieces blocking.

SO FUNNY & KEPT EVERYONE ENGAGED IN CHARACTER!

Celebrated my 30th birthday and my best friend's birthday at Pirates Dinner Adventure and it was honestly such a fun, unforgettable experience. We were seated in the Yellow section, and our pirate was hands down the BEST. The energy, interaction, and crowd engagement made it feel so personal and exciting the entire time. We had a large group of 12, and everything was handled so smoothly. Our server was AMAZING and so accommodating. They constantly checked in on us, made sure we had everything we needed, and went above and beyond the entire night. They even surprised us with a little birthday cake and candle and sang for us, which made the celebration feel extra special and memorable. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is fully immersive and perfect for a birthday celebration. The show itself is incredibly entertaining with acrobatics, stunts, and a storyline that keeps you locked in. Our pirate really made it special by hyping us up and making our section feel like part of the action. The drinks were AMAZING and absolutely delicious, and the gift shop was such a fun touch with so many cute themed items. The dinner itself was also really good, which made the whole experience even better. Service was outstanding from start to finish. ALL the staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly while still keeping the high-energy vibe going. If you're celebrating something special, especially a milestone birthday, this is such a unique and fun way to do it. Being part of the Yellow team made it even better he was fantastic & from New Zealand!! 10/10 we will be back this summer to enjoy this show!

My kids loved the knights show at Excalibur in Vegas and Medieval Times is too similar so we decided to take them to the Pirates Dinner Adventure. The timing was really good since we just finished watching One-Piece. Overall rating is based on how much our kids enjoyed this and will remember it well into their older years. You are seated based on color where you will cheer for your pirate and boo the other pirates. The show is more interactive than some of the other ones I've been to with a lot of audience participation on stage. My oldest got chosen for a boat rowing race and I went up there to hoist some flags near the end. My kids LOVED the show, and didn't want to leave to go to the bathroom to not miss anything. It's a good mix of comedy, acrobatics, stunts, and effects. They will also conveniently bring the photos you take in the beginning right to your table so you dont have to wait at the gift shop if they line is too long. Adults got salad, chicken, and a dessert. Kids got cheeseburger and chicken nuggets. The food was OK but we didn't come for the good and more for the experience. If you go to a local costco you can save $20 off of $100 by buying the gift card.

Took my kids here for a dinner and a show .. the place is amazing! Theme was a giant pirate ship! It was so fun to look at as we sat around the whole giant half a ship. The service was amazing! Our server was very attentive. Sodas were constantly refilled. The meal came with a salad with ranch dressing .. that was just ok.. nothing special. The dinner dish came with a quarter leg rotisserie chicken some mash potatoes and veggies . The mash was good, the chicken was just ok, and the veggies were actually the best on the plate. Very well seasoned. Also the chocolate cake to end the evening meal was dry. The star of this all was the show .. it was definately a fun show and very interactive for some that got picked to come participate. I would Definately recommend to go watch and have some fun

Will a 3 year old enjoy it ? Would you recommend

Sorta depends on the child and his/her attention span. It is kid friendly.

Has the quality of the performance and show experience been negatively impacted by the Hollywood actors/SAG strike?

No, it has not. The strike is mainly toward TV and Film, since this is live theatre and many of the actors are not members of SAG, they are not as affected.

Can you take outside food in? My grandson is autistic and does not eat any of the food on the kids menu. He loves pizza and grilled cheese.

    I'd call the venue.

Are the kids able to take their own eye patches and swards?

    Yes

Can tickets be purchased in person ? We are unable to reach customer service

You can, but isn’t always the best way. The ticket booth windows vary in the times they open…

If your ticket says 4:30, what time should you show up?

Up to 1 hr before. They have a gift shop for you to shop in and a couple bars for you to order drinks.

    How long is the show?

Our show runs aprox. 90 minues!

Are masks required? Is social distancing required?

We had masks on only in the waiting area before the show. Once seated everyone had their masks off. Social distancing was not really implemented.

Do the tickets include dinner or is that separate?

Tickets include dinner, Appetizer is separate.

Is this location open? I'm getting conflicting info. I was just about to buy tickets for my family and a bday package but now I'm not sure what to do.

It's not open. They are selling tickets and taking peoples money. We went yesterday for a reservation and it was closed. Now we can't get a hold of customer service for our money

Hello! When will you be reopening?

    It's open now

I am seeing conflicting information, is the venue open?

Hello, currently, our establishment is closed due to government mandates. We are hoping to open by the end of next month. Stay safe and well.

What is the best entree for dinner?

They serve the same thing for everybody chicken tomato soup piece of bread corn and potato

Growing up in LA/OC whole life, memories might be playing a trick on me but before the Pirates dinner show arrived was there another dinner theater show besides Medieval times in Buena Park?

I think it was a cowboy show before?? But not 100% wild bills or something?

Does anyone know how well the handicap seats are?

They have open table seats facing the stage with removable chairs.

Is it recommended to make reservation? If it's a party for 2?

I would suggest reservations if you want to sit in the preferred front rows. If you don't care where you sit I wouldn't worry about it. Also go early to take advantage of the…

How early should you get to the show?

You want to get there AT LEAST 2 hours prior, latest and hour and a half.

If you pay for the treasure upgraded BOOTH seating and we are a party of 3. Will they squeeze other people in at our table?

Yes, they will complete the row with strangers!

Do I need to print my Groupon or can they scan it from my phone?

they can scan from phone. i may have just told them the voucher number when i booked it

Do guests dress up as pirates? I am bringing a group of adults with disabilities and they want to dress up. Wasn't sure if we would look silly.

Yes! Some guests do and some don't but if you go in a large group then it won't look silly

The 2nd show starts at 9pm.  You can order a short list of bar food, and there is a full bar, but obviously no loud blender to disrupt the show which runs around 90 minutes. So it is possible to dine before or after at French influenced Shirley where you get a 15% discount showing your La Cage tickets.  Then doing a post prandial libation at the Lounge or an alcohol based Milk Shake at 25° to make it a full evening at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Drag is a venerable art form. In Shakespeare's time, the Globe Theatre had only male actors so Drag was de rigueur as well as the ancient Japanese Kabuki Theatre which is still all male to this day.  Host Tommi Rose, 47 year Drag veteran originally from the La Cage aux Folles Night Club in the 1980's as well as at famous Finocchio's in San Francisco during the 1970's, does a flurry of 13 costume changes ending with a silver beaded dress weighing 28 lbs.  A Marilyn Monroe, who is a dead ringer to the original, performs flawlessly channeling her inner Monroe. Lady Gaga makes an appearance lip synching to songs when she sang with Tony Bennett. The in between acts had a "Cabaret" Berlinesque feel that Liza Minelli would have been pleased.  The Torch Song finale was a rousing, feel good rendition of "I Am What I Am" from the song originally introduced in the Broadway musical La Cage aux Folles.  It was a poignant song that makes no apology nor excuse for who we are. And that is the way it should be.  Enjoy the Drag!!!  PS Get rid of the annoying two pillars blocking the view of the stage.

We have only enjoyed the SpringHill Suites line. The Courtyard by Marriott in Buena Park is conveniently located across the street from the Pirates Dinner Theater and Medieval Times. However, that was the highlight of our stay. The rooms and common areas were clean and modern. The room layout needed much work. On the inside of the bathroom door, they had a sign that said California law requires the door to be closed at all times for fire egress. As a person whose parents were firefighters, this is completely false. The sign should have been placed on the outward-opening closet doors that, if left open, would prevent the bathroom door from opening in a fire. The evening staff and breakfast time crew were kind. However, people who wanted to order food, including those who paid for breakfast in their booking, were forced to wait over 45 minutes to an hour for their food because the morning shift was grossly understaffed. Let me be clear: the staff on the breakfast shift were extremely friendly and worked their hardest to keep up. The food was also amazing. It clearly falls on the hotel general manager for not providing adequate staffing. This again is one of the reasons we do not like the Marriott Bonvoy brand as a whole, as their management staff has zero professional training and lacks the initiative to be in the role of a manager.

After seeing all the negative reviews, I wanted to cancel my reservations, but I am overall glad I…read moredidn't. First impressions matter, and this hotel made a great one! We arrived in Buena Park around 10:00 a.m. to spend the day at Knott's Berry Farm, which is an easy 8-minute walk from the hotel. I asked Annette at the front desk if we could leave our car before check-in so we could head straight to the park. Without hesitation, she happily said yes and even told us she would have our room ready by noon if we wanted to come back early. We ended up returning around 2:00 p.m. for a break, and check-in with Annette was quick, easy, and genuinely friendly. We were assigned Room 253, which smelled fresh and clean the moment we walked in. The bed was incredibly comfortable, everything was spotless, and we had no issues at all. It was also a nice surprise that the air conditioning was already running, making the room cool and comfortable after spending hours in the summer sun. We immediately headed to the pool to cool off before grabbing dinner and returning to Knott's around 7:00 p.m. After a long day, the shower had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water, which was exactly what we needed. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The location is hard to beat for a visit to Knott's Berry Farm, the room was clean and comfortable, and Annette's outstanding customer service made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. A solid stay thanks to the welcoming staff and location, but Marriott should address some maintenance concerns.

Supposedly this is a Marriot property? lol…read more Truth is: Marriot just took over this place 5 mos. ago... & are "renovating." However, no capital or energy has been thrown at this place bc it is dirty & rundown. I, personally, am not hard to please, but my family had had enough. Our room had an uneven floor (sloping up & down like a funhouse) & the floor was dirty (doesn't bother me bc I wear slides). The linen had small specks or dirt or something. The toilet didn't flush; so when anyone in my family used it, I'd have to go in after & lift the top porcelain lid to manually use the chain & drain to make the toilet flush (that proved difficult bc the gasket was worn out on the seal of the drain inside the toilet). A person from the front desk was called, came in for about 20 seconds, & then left saying it was fixed. It wasn't. It was broken again right after, so back to lifting off the procelin lid again & doing amateur plumbing stuff while on vacation everytime someone in my family used the bathroom. But... the silliest thing was a sheet of printer paper used as a sign posted on a door window to access one of the hallways. To paraphrase, it said: "Please wear masks in the hotel & maintain 6 ft of social distance." Lol The staff is so lazy & demoralized by the poor condition of the hotel that they can't even be troubled to take down some ancient Covid sign from like 2020 or 2021. Again, I wouldn't have even left if my family hadn't complained about the broken toilet. I hope Marriot is aware that the renovation at this hotel is progressing at a snail's pace (or slower). We're loyal Marriot customers... so we understand that this location is not representative of their typical brand quality.

After a fun day at Knott's Berry Farm, my wife and I decided to get dinner before hitting the road…read more The criteria were good eats, a varied beer selection, a decent atmosphere, and hopefully some novelty. Rock and Brews exceeded each category and came in clutch with some bonuses! First, and most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious! I had tacos, which were discounted for Taco Tuesday and allowed for a mix-and-match of chicken, beef, or pork. My wife had the Mediterranean salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also shared a pretzel that was mega yummy. Second, beer! Lots of great choices, and if you prefer a mixed spirit, well, you're in luck, because they have plenty of those too. Third, vibes! Vibes like Cal Tjader came back to life. The place is decked out like your coolest friend won the lottery and created the perfect spot for all of his Rock & Roll lovin' homies to hang and chill. It is hard to pull off this level of focus without being a complete visual disaster or downright tawdry. Luckily for them, the designer understood the assignment. Well done, designer. You deserve a raise. Now, obviously, I'm a fan. One visit. That's all it took. But even after all of that goodness, there is one thing I must share, because it made a good experience a great one, and that thing is not even a thing; it was Matthew! Brother, thank you for being so kind and attentive. You are very talented, and without question, the quality of our experience is directly linked to your professionalism. I get the impression that no matter where you go, or what you do, the Force is always strong with you. Let's give Matt a raise too! And make him manager when you open the San Diego location.

They were tasty, too, but I can always appreciate a good looking burger that doesn't fall over after they place it on the table. I had the super spicy one and it kicked my bum. I can't hang like the old days. Very fun eating experience though, and I was able to finish every single scoville. Waiter was helpful with customizing (bread swap). French fries were fine. Will be back, even if it's just to get a bottle of their hot sauce . Only real gripe is that this place looks and feels like a sports bar/restaurant, it has over a dozen TVs... But the same thing was on ALL the TVs ! I understand the music theme is central appeal, but at least have different (variety) music videos on if you're gonna have 30 TVs in your restaurant. Make it interesting
