Excellent spot for happy hour. I like that the bar setting is expansive and there are no big tvs blaring. The beef sliders and vodka martini with blue cheese olives that I ordered were stellar. Brought my parents here for dinner. The menu is small but everything we ordered was amazing. You can tell they take pride in their ingredients and presentation. Solidly good American bistro food. Attentive waitstaff, vibrant atmosphere ( a bit on the loud side ) and good food ( not spectacular but good) . I appreciated how many fish options were on the menu. My ahi tuna entree was good. My friend enjoyed her fish special - the walleye. Husband had the special of the night , beef stew , which was decent ( wouldn't recommend that entree ) . Our friend enjoyed his burger and truffle fries. All and all a solid choice if looking for classic American food and want to stay in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. I love coming to Gemini! This restaurant has great food, drinks, and service. I love sitting at the bar, but most nights it is crowded - so get there early! I do wish they had more seating options for larger groups. I once went with a group of 8 adults and we sat in a half booth and were mildly uncomfortable. My updated review is for Gemini's Restaurant Week dinner. I went to 2 other restaurants during restaurant week and Gemini's was the best by far! We stopped by here to meet some friends for drinks and it was the perfect atmosphere. We wanted to find a cocktail bar, but a lot of the bars in the area weren't open in the early afternoon, so we decided to check out Gemini. We were able to grab seats at the bar and were serviced right away. The cocktail menu was a little bit on the smaller side but the bartender provided multiple recommendations based on my usual drink picks. I had a spicy margarita that had a great balance of spice and flavor. Everyone in our group enjoyed their drinks, and we didn't get food so I can't speak to that but it looked great when it came out to others seated at the bar. We had the parker house rolls (yum), amazing wedge salad, and then split the ahi tuna tataki (one of the best dishes at any restaurant anywhere according to my husband) and had the special short rib (prepared with chimichurri & feta). Great martinis as well! Mikey our waiter was so attentive and helpful and fun, and absolutely hooked it up with birthday dessert. Attended a Sunday brunch with a large group. Waitstaff was very accommodating given the group size and the different arrival times of each of the guests. Felt that we were met with kindness, patience and understanding. Unfortunately however, the food was very bland. Extremely disappointing. My family ordered the eggs benedict, steak and eggs, breakfast chicken sausage (extremely dry and over cooked), and breakfast potatoes. Is there a better bar in this LP neighborhood?! Gemini's is the best: it has a great selection of liquor - the one I drink which is a variety most trendy bars don't stock. The bartenders are pros - mature mixologists with terrific personalities. At the table, we ordered the wedge salad, hanger steak and halibut, which was garnished with super fresh English peas and shoots. Loved it all. In other news, for the first time, the restaurant had a number of large tables with noisy children. Not Gemini's fault but it took away from the usual adult, sophisticated atmosphere found here. We had some stumbles with our inexperienced server - her confusion on our cocktails - causing her to return twice with questions - which delayed delivery of them. There were also up charges on the bill. When ordering, she volunteered that I could substitute a green vegetable for fries, which I did. But, I was charged for the change on the check. It was removed. We also had to ask two times for Gemini's 3% fine-print-on-the-menu surcharge to be taken off the bill. This fee goes to the restaurant not to the wait staff and we wanted to direct those $6 to the server rather than management. read more

What a cute little corner spot in Lincoln Park! I didn't even know it existed until a friend suggested we go there for dinner after work. And to find out it's from the same restaurant group as Coda di Volpe which I love! Anyways, we had a lovely meal. The mussels were delicious in the garlic butter sauce and my steak frites were tasty. I regret not upgrading to the truffle fries. For dessert we had the cookie skillet, which, as a warm chocolate chip cookie and ice cream, is hard to beat. I think we ordered pretty "safe" items and the menu overall is pretty safe but it was all tasty!! Would definitely come again. I also loved my mocktail and the service was excellent. read more

Had a disappointing experience here for a birthday dinner. Upon arrival, despite having a reservation, we couldn't be seated inside unless we wait about 30 min (they said this was because they were expecting rain). Additionally, only 4 out of 6 of us were given silverware when served, I had asked two different employees for a napkin, which I eventually had to retrieve myself from someone who appeared to be a manager after about 25 minutes or waiting. My friend ate his entire side salad with his fingers... Seriously! The burger was just okay at best, though the steak, salads, and drinks were amazing. Two of our appetizers were never brought out, which in hindsight was a relief since we were already quite full so I should not knock them for that. On a positive note, they did cut and bring out a cake we brought ourselves and provided complimentary shots, which we suspect was an attempt to compensate for the poor service. Staff was quick to fix this issue by wiping off the table and chairs of water after the rain stopped 15 min later. Staff was apologetic about the situation. BRUNCH REVIEW: We think Gemini has great food! We came for brunch with a group of seven on Sunday. It was pretty busy, so I do recommend a reservation if possible. The lunch menu is fairly limited but we do enjoy the bottomless brunch option. We got the warm rolls and prosciutto and burrata crostini as appetizers. I think they were tasty but a little underwhelming. The burrata had honey drizzled on it and was a bit on the sweet side. While we weren't overly impressed with the appetizers, the burger and spicy chicken sandwich were both fantastic. Both options are outstanding and very flavorful. I am not a huge spice person, but the sandwich is not too spicy and hits just the spot. Ambiance is nice for an intimate date or small group. Service was a little slow, but I'm not sure if it was just because brunch was busy. I personally feel that they are overpriced for what they offer. I would come back and try dinner, just wouldn't expect it to be a cheap night by any means. read more

I've been here twice so far, once on a busy weekday night and the other time earlier on a Sunday evening. It's definitely a neighborhood spot that also appears to be kid friendly. There were at least 5-6 incredibly well behaved kids in the restaurant on an early Sunday evening. Ambiance is relaxed but still feels upscale. Food is overall solid. I especially enjoy their appetizers: spring rolls, mussels and parker house rolls were delicious. The salmon was pretty thick and a little undercooked but seasoned well. I found the mac and cheese to be quite bland, especially for the price, and would have love it to be creamier and have like a crunchy breadcrumb topping. Both times the service started off strong but then left a lot to be desired. There seems to need to be a person to attend to drinks and getting you the check since the waiters seem to be so swamped. When I was with a larger group someone brought me a refill of my iced tea without me asking but we had to put a lot of effort into getting our waiter to come back so others could order another round of wine. read more

The drinks I chose were the champagne and squirtsky (vodka cocktail), which was super refreshing. The coffee I also ordered was tasty as well. For food, I got the veggie frittata with a side of bacon. The bacon was sweet and thick, and the veggie frittata was nice and light with fresh veggies.
