Good brunch spot. We went on a Sunday during restaurant week and had to get a reservation. It was very busy, but it didn't feel overcrowded. We had a mimosa and bloody mary, the mimosa was good, but the bloody mary was just ok. We ordered the cinnamon bun and granola bowl to begin. Both good! I'd definitely order both again! Then, we got the Gemini scramble and lobster cobb salad. The salad was flavorful and there was plenty! The eggs were ok, but nothing special. However, the burgers running around looks great. The atmosphere was a little more calmer than I expected. A great neighborhood restaurant. We brought the family here for dinner before walking down to the Zoo lights at Lincoln Park Zoo. Service started off slow with drinks and appetizers but after nipping that in the bud we had great service and food. Kids ordered Mac and cheese and strawberry lemonade, hubs and I got mussels fra diavolo (delish, order extra bread if you love the sauce!) And we got the beets and quinoa salad. Gemini has been on my places to try list for awhile, so a friend and I came during restaurant week. I will say, I rather enjoyed that the RW menu was different from their day-to-day menu. My friend and I share the appetizers and entrees, so we could try more. For appetizers, we ordered the beef wagyu and the arancini. Both of which were good, but not noteworthy for either of us. The entrees - the pork chop stood out a lot. The cabbage wasn't too sour, the meat was done perfectly - this was SO good. The halibut was okay, a little dry, but the tomato bisque offset that very well and was seasoned excellently. For dessert, we parted ways and ordered separately. Both the S'mores and Strawberry tarts were excellent. I'd honestly recommend trying both depending on if you wanted a chocolate or fruity finish to a good meal. read more

Visiting Chicago for the weekend with some girlfriends and a local recommended this place. Looked like a neat area and with a nice interior design that was welcoming that would be perfect for any setting. I had the tuna tataki which honestly was probably the best tuna I have had in a while, and comes with an avocado mango toping but I had maybe one piece of avocado on it and wished there was more - but still delicious! One friend got the burger and said it was good (and it did look really good!) And another friend got the steak frites and said it was flavorful. The fries on the side were ok, but the garlic aioli was amazing. We finished the meal off with espresso martinis and a carajillo (another espresso based drink) from the bartender who made both drinks exceptionally. Went here over the weekend with some gal pals for bottomless brunch and it was absolutely amazing. Our waitress, Rosie, was phenomenal in giving her suggestions. They didn't disappoint! The awesome thing about Gemini's brunch is that you can mix and match drinks throughout your 90 minute window. We tried the housemade Squirtsky draft (made in the basement and is SO yummy!) then tried the Bellini and margarita. Each drink was so refreshing but we kept finding ourselves going back to the Squirtsky. Our food was fresh and delicious as well. Rosie let me know the house potatoes weren't GF (much appreciated!) so I was upcharged for a bowl of fruit as a good alternative. Tried their Pear Bellini and Shaken Espresso - both very good. For my entree I went with the Croque Madame which I had never had anywhere else but it was so amazingly delicious. What initially attracted me to Gemini was the logo and the fact that my last meal was breakfast. Unfortunately, my experience didn't meet my expectations. I walked in without a reservation, left my name, and was told the wait would be less than 30 minutes. However, it ended up being an hour. When I checked with the host about my status, she mentioned that there was space and seated me at a table that had been open since I arrived. If not for the service, this would have been a 5 star experience. But the service was so terrible, that I felt the need to speak on it. Our server never introduced herself, gave a terrible explanation about the specials (I had heard the bartender explaining them to some 20 minutes earlier so I knew what it should sound like), never stopped in to check on us, we had to flag her down to order our dinner...she was just the absolute worst. Upon leaving the restaurant, our party wasn't even acknowledged ("have a nice night" or "thanks for coming" or "hope to see you again sometime."). I know good service, I know great service and I know shitty service - and that was a shitty service experience. Food came out on time, let us order food before half our party arrived. Food: Two of us got what was billed as 16oz swordfish steak. It came out even larger than the already massive advertised amount, and it was the best swordfish I've ever had -- cooked perfectly, juicey, just firm enough, no fishy smell, accenting but not overpowering accompanying flavors. One of our party got the salmon and enjoyed it. One salad and another person got a pasta dish -- all beautifully presented and crowd pleasing. The apps were all pretty good. As everyone else says, the bread is a must -- doughy, salty, savory, and just a tad sweet. Burrata and charcuterie high quality. Everyone left satisfied. No room for dessert! Drinks: Good diverse selection of wine and draft beers. Beer list included draught and bottle local and regional microbrews with a few macrobrews. Mixed drinks were well received. Interesting flavors and some classics. Most of them were pretty boozy. Price: Very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. Gemini is a great combination of high quality food, food experience, and reasonable check at the end. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be eating here once or twice a week. The fries were also way too soft, and were clearly not double fried. The drinks were also all pretty poor. Either too strong or too watery. The reason I'm being extra harsh here is that it's also on the pricier side. I'd probably leave a nicer review, or give it points for having nice ambiance if it had bad food/drinks but was more reasonably priced. read more

The only reason I give them a 4/5 is that my butternut squash ravioli wasn't all that memorable. Outside of that, my mom enjoyed the burger and my brother the Swordfish. No complaints from the table! We got sat right away at the time of our reservation, on a Saturday, which is impressive on its own. We were advised by friends to be weary of the quality of the cocktail and I have to say, they are immensely subpar. We tried the specialty cocktail, Grapefruitsky (something like that, probably off) and it was fine but not great. Girlfriend got a martini and it was standard. Mussels as an app, great stuff. This is where it goes down hill...I ordered the halibut dinner, recommended by our server, which was a decent dish but very dry fish. The "vegetable salad" it laid on was unseasoned and seemed like just boiled fava beans. My gfs steak and frites, steak was cooked great and frites were also very delicious. My only gripe is with my fish dish that I feel for $42 was extremely subpar. If you eat here get the mussels, don't get the fish. Rest is a toss up. read more
