I was struck by how respectful they are of the marine life. We were whale watching as often of our snorkeling adventure, and the staff was so very careful to give the whales room to just be. We have been on a bunch of snorkel tours; this was our second this week, and by far it was the best crew, best site and the best food and drinks! This last cruise was our second with the Gemini team and honestly we are not going to waste our time and money going with anyone else in the future. The snorkel site was filled with turtles, eels and fish of every shape and size. The food: Huli Huli Chicken, Pulled Pork and Cabbage and fried rice was excellent especially after a couple of hours snorkeling. They get five stars for sure! read more

Beware of false advertising! We chose the Gemini because they advertised using a hydrophone to hear the whale song. Although the crew was great and we enjoyed the boat ride, and seeing whales, no hydrophone was ever used. When I asked the Naturalist about it, she said ," just put your ears under water when you swim or snorkel and you'll Probably hear them." We booked this company above others because they advertised a hydrophone. We were super disappointed to not get to hear the whales. Beware! read more

Why 5 stars? Because apparently I like whale watching! --- --- --- This was my wife and I's favorite part of our trip to Maui. The staff was amazing from the moment that we arrived and waited to board the boat, all the way until we walked off and said goodbye. They were clearly very passionate about whales and were genuinely excited at the sight of them while we were out. After heading multiple charters every day, you'd think it would be hard to be that excited every time a whale popped up out of the water, but this guy was as excited as if it were the first time he'd ever done it. But with that first-time like excitement, he also had the knowledge and experience of a veteran. As is the case in Hawaii, the weather could not have been more perfect. I was actually dealing with a stomach bug, which also came with fevers and chills, so I was worried I'd be shivering the whole time, but being out on the boat was the best I felt during my entire time in Maui. We saw whales and dolphins several different times during our time on the boat. We visited in January, which is supposed to be a great time to whale watch, but even if the whales had come out less, this was still a very fun experience. Even a regular boat ride in Hawaii would have been quite awesome - you're basically in literal paradise! We could have booked other cruises with points, but because we were staying at The Westin, we opted for the convenience of walking downstairs and getting in line. If you're staying at The Westin, I'd highly recommend the same. But honestly, even if you're not staying at this hotel, this cruise was amazing. We did the morning option, which meant it came with some light breakfast items and mimosas, which were a huge hit. If we return to Maui, I will have to do this again and fingers crossed that I'm perfectly well enough to enjoy those perks! read more

So much fun. The whales really gave us a show. Nice little continental breakfast. The boat had 47 that day and did not feel at all crowded. Plenty of room for everyone to see. Disappointing that they didn't put the hydrophone in the water as other tours we've taken have done have done. Still, was super enjoyable and would highly recommend. read more

During our week on the island we did three excursions with three different companies and this by far was the most expensive and worst experience. captain Andrew and Joffrey were very passive aggressive and condescending. The two crewmembers helping us Katie and Kate were very nice and knowledgeable however it did not make up for the rest of the crew. When I called to make the reservation I called their main office and asked if they had wetsuits and the older lady on the phone said they had shirt wetsuits that we could rent aboard, when I got there Joffrey rudely proclaimed they never offered that and he didn't know who I talk to and was dismissive as if I was lying. While we were snorkeling they had a lifeguard in the water with us but only temporarily and was out long before the last swimmers were called in. Overall it was a unwelcoming attitude. The drinks were not good and gave us all headaches. The food was good and the Catamaran was very nice. I recommend going to Bluewater Maui for any whale watching. read more

Wow! What a terrific sunset cruise we had on 9/17/22. An incredible, attentive crew starting with Kerri, who was amazing! She constantly was coming around asking everyone what they'd like to drink, etc. Collin was great, partnering with Kerri to make sure the guests were being taken care of and tending bar. They keep the boat immaculate and they all do such a good job of making you feel welcome and appreciated. Food was very good and plenty to eat. Captain Brad, did a great job sailing our catamaran. He's a double for "Captain Wild Bill Wichrowski" the "Deadliest Catch" show on TV, only much better looking and has a great personality. His experience with sailing gave us a smooth, wonderful ride. He had us in the perfect positions to get the most beautiful sunset views, making this such a wonderful, memorable sunset cruise! I've taken many over the last 25 years and the very first one was on the Gemini and, I have to say, I think the Gemini is the best! Their crews are always so good ... professional and congenial, food always great. Perfect in every way! Thank you Captain Brad, Kerri and Collin for a great time on the Gemini! Get ready to be greeted with professionalism from explaining why your shoes won't be with you on the boat to how to get on and off as waves roll in - - don't worry if you are unsteady there are plenty of crew to assist. The whale watching and trip to the snorkeling is great - the crew loves to take pis too so point out what you see and they will do what they can to educate you. while you jump in and snorkel some amazing reef, (please watch the sunscreens you use and don't ruin the reef for future generations) the crew is prepping some amazing drinks and lunch. chicken and fish and rice - so enjoy and don't forget the POG mai tai. We have used a different company and they were full for the day that we wanted to sail. So, I booked our Sunset Cruise with Gemini and now will only book with them. The boat was much more comfortable and the crew was amazing. We were happy with the unexpected amount of food considering it was not a dinner sunset cruise. The hotel we were staying at offered us a whale-watching charter with Gemini for doing one of their timeshare presentations (hotel timeshare presentation, not Gemini...just to be clear). We checked in on the beach with one of the crew members, and waiting for the sailboat to come onto shore. Once aboard, we were briefed on the safety procedures and then offered complimentary drinks; later we had some appetizers. The crew were very knowledgeable about the whale movements/patterns and they got us very close to a large group of whales; one must have been as close as 30 yards! We had an absolutely perfect day on the water with Gemini. We were in Maui last September staying in Kapalua and heard good things about Gemini. We decided to book and have zero regrets. Everyone on staff was easy going and positive, all there to have a good time and make sure you did too. When we got to Honolua Bay we snorkeled, drank (open bar!) and listened to the tunes while eating a delicious lunch (provided). Kids and older adults were all having a blast. And to top it off, our favorite part was the ride back where we cut the engines, raised the sails, and soaked up the sun. I never realized how smooth sailing was in high winds when the engine doesn't cut the waves. The whole experience was just magical. For our 10 year wedding anniversary trip, this excursion was simply the cherry on top. We'll be back again and can't wait to book Gemini a second time. read more

We called to inquire about snorkeling after being put in a stressful position on our honeymoon from another company (SEA Maui). Our company cancelled our trip 3 days before and recommended Gemini Charters to call and book. The gentleman on the phone at Gemini could not be more rude or condescending. If you're management is reading this, I don't remember his name but he had a large lisp. It was clear this man didn't care about the situation, didn't care to explain the booking process and just wanted to get off the phone. He had no empathy that we were on the middle of travelling in Ohau and we're just trying to get things figured out while on a mobile phone. We tried booking a snorkel trip and the cost turned out to be different then what we understood from the referred company. When we asked why (as we were told there was a price match) he just said that's the cost, pay it or don't. You lost a sale that day due directly to your incompetent and condescending receptionist. We booked with Ali nuii and Gladly paid $100 more for a more positive experience. We're honeymooning and bad attitudes in a tourist centric economy won't get you very far.
