We've sailed with Sea Maui 8 or 9 times on their Sunset Dinner, Sunset Cocktail and Whale watching cruises. For us, we prefer the Sunset Cocktail cruise as it's the perfect amount of food and drinks. This last trip, we took the whole family for the express snorkel trip. It's a shorter trip, which worked perfectly for the younger kids and didn't tie up a big amount of island time. Captain Nick and his crew was all about making sure all had a great time while keeping safety at the top of mind. They guaranteed we'd see turtles... we did! Immediately. I accused them of being remote controlled because they were there right on cue! I'm not a big snorkel guy, but I had a blast. We'll keep returning to Sea Maui. Greatest crew on Maui !! read more

On our vacation to Maui last week, we took trips out to the sea with Sea Maui twice. Our first trip out was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness! read more

What a wonderful experience we had today 19 January 2026. We booked the 0830 tour and were so pleased with the crew. The Irish gentleman who pre-briefed us before leaving for the tour had a great sense of humor and set the tone for our excursion. Once aboard, the Captain and his crew were polite, cordial, fun loving and efficient. The food was great and the crew busied theirselves insuring everyone was comfortable, had drinks and the proper snorkeling gear. We saw many, many whales and at least 12 displays of whales big and small leaping out of the water. The hour long snorkeling provided the passengers with a myriad of tropical fish and sea turtles. We even had one try to climb the ladder into the boat. The fees for the excursion were fair and we definitely got our moneys worth for all we saw and participated in. My daughter and I booked the West Maui half-day snorkel adventure and had the best time. The snorkeling was incredible--the sea turtles and marine life were amazing! A huge bonus was having a professional photographer on board capturing memories both in and out of the water. I did the Sunset Cruise with a friend and I highly recommend sea maui. The price is on the Steep side but it does include Unlimited alcoholic beverages. My friend and I sat in the bean bag chairs at the front of the catamaran and had no problem getting drunk after drink. So workers aboard are very attentive and come by often to see if you need another drink. Just know that this is not a 100% relaxing Cruise as a bunch of us did get wet. Not soaked but definitely sprayed by the waves. It was very windy out and there was a bunch of waves. This also included a appetizer buffet. On ours it was chicken cutlets, I think there was some little sliders, and some orange chicken. I can't remember what else. There was also a live musician on board which was great. And do arrive early like it says for orientation that only takes 5 minutes. But they are very strict with the schedule. We left exactly at 5:00 p.m. and came back exactly at 7:00 p.m. also know you cannot wear shoes on the boat. You put them in a bin before you get on and then you do have to walk a few feet in the water to get on the boat. Same with getting off. The Vibes are great I highly recommend. read more

We had a great 2.5 express trip. It was a perfect mini adventure with a 6 year old. We had snacks and drinks throughout the whole adventure given by an awesome crew. I'm always skeptical when they said 'guaranteed' to see sea turtles but you'll see them the entire time you snorkel. It was overwhelmingly worth it. The Perfect Ending to Our Honeymoon We couldn't have imagined a better way to end our honeymoon. We booked this sunset sail for our final evening on Maui, and it was absolutely unforgettable. While parking is available at Whalers Village (and validated by the crew), we opted to walk over from our resort, which made for an easy and scenic start to the evening. After a quick check-in and safety briefing, we were ready to board. Just a heads-up: boarding happens directly from the beach into the water, so wear shorts or be prepared to lift your dress! From the moment we stepped onto the vessel, the crew -- Quinn, Carrie, and Ben -- made us feel completely taken care of. They were warm, fun, professional, and incredibly attentive. Such a great experience! Before our trip to Maui I searched for things to do and this was one of the top. The communication for the event was great. We received emails about what to expect with directions to the pick-up location. The staff were friendly, fun and entertaining. Nick, Jess, and James were the great crew when my husband and I did the Xpress Snorkel trip last week. This 2.5 hour trip from Ka'anapali Beach was the perfect amount of time for us to spend time in the water to swim with a bunch of turtles and all kinds of lovely fish. We met up at Whaler's Village at 7:50am for our trip. The catamaran we were on was close enough to the shore that we just had to wade out to it a few steps and climb some stairs onto the boat. There were probably about 20 other guests plus the crew but there was plenty of seating for everyone. Nick explained how to use the snorkels, fins, and masks, and went over safety tips before we got into the water. We took a 20-minute ride over to the snorkeling spot that had lots of turtles and fish in the area. Once there, we jumped in and swam around to our heart's content. There was always a crew member in the water with us (mostly James) and he was good about keeping an eye on folks and answering any questions we had about what we were seeing underwater. The water temp was just right and I felt completely safe swimming around. I just wish I had an underwater camera with me to document the sea life that we got up close to. After we had our fill, we sailed back to our starting point, with complimentary snacks and drinks available for all. This was totally worth the money and we'll have great memories of that day to cherish. read more

We booked Sea Maui whale watching trip in late March. The staffs were super friendly and gave us a safety debrief before boarding the boat. The boat was a lovely single level boat with open view of the sea. There was an open bar with alcohol and soft drinks. During the trip, we saw about 8 whales swimming distantly. We even saw whale calf! The staffs were very knowledgeable and educated us about the migration of humpback whales. The entire trip took about 2 hours. It was a very smooth sailing and we really enjoyed the view and the opportunity to see whales! read more

We booked a sunset sail on a catamaran. It was an open bar and light hors d'oeuvres sail. There were about 50 of us on board, but did not feel crowded, and allowed for moving around. They were organized and communicative (got confirmation text etc.) The crew was top notch. Obviously, they were well skilled at sailing, but also charmed the passenger with their customer service. (big smiles, engaging conversation, taking photos at sunset, serving drinks, etc.) Drinks and food as advertised. The music was fun and upbeat. Their site detailed expectations perfectly.  They warned us parking was an event of itself and suggested planning on extra time. Indeed, the parking situation wasn't optimal, but they validate for plenty of time. Two amazing hours. read more

AMAZING experience! We had traveled to two of the other islands and had seen whales from afar, but wanted to get more of an experience on our last stop of the islands... Sea Maui was highly recommended and now we understand why! The staff was absolutely amazing. We were out on the water for 2 hours and they made sure everyone had waters, sodas, seltzers, beers, etc and snacks the whole time. Let me say, these guys know how to put on a whale watching cruise. The 1st hour of the two hour ride was mostly about checking out the whales, and there were plenty. The second hour seemed more chill, just a cruise to relax. The waves were really present as it was windy but it wasn't sickening, it wasn't cold, it was completely safe and FUN! Our crew were Captain Linda, Ava, and two others, including an amazing MC and musician. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and there were non-stop whale breaches for 90 minutes! My only note is that seating is first-come, first-served. Did the sunset cruise on January 25th with Sea Maui, chose them mostly based on a little lower price than a couple other outfits and really just wanted to enjoy some drinks and apps on the water, catch the sunset and see some whales. We pretty much covered all that so overall pretty happy and we enjoyed ourselves. Saw a mother whale and calf pretty quickly maybe 10 minutes into the trip stayed and observed a bit. In the distance maybe a mile away a couple boats were watching whales breaching it looked really impressive from afar. I wish they would have motored over there not sure why they didnt seem to want to go very far from shore. We saw a couple other whales from a distance but never any real good sightings or pictures. The crew was nice and kept drinks flowing. Appetizers were good. It would have been nice if one of the crew shared some educational information about the whales but they never talked about them just kept music going which was also enjoyable. As far as the boat it seemed a little smaller with less seating and a pretty small galley area compared to the other boats I observed coming in at Kaanapali beach. If you need shade or a guaranteed place to sit this wouldn't be the boat but that wasnt an issue for us being late in the day and we made sure to baord early to get a place to sit. They really needed to clean the head I went down there once and man the smell was nasty maybe because it hadnt been cleaned all day after multiple tours. After we disembarked another passenger mentioned to us that she must preferred another outfit that she rode with two days earlier who were more into finding the whales and being informative and educational rather than making it mostly about a party but we were OK with the trip it was pretty much what I expected. read more

Wow, this was a vacation difference maker. I was not too fired up about this, but my wife wanted to book it to go with the kids and grandkids. I'm so happy she pushed for this. It was absolutely amazing. Captain Linda and her crew were kind and helpful. They explained all the rules and showed everyone how to use the equipment. All went well. Their breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, rice, bacon and sausage. Plenty of stuff to drink. Lunch was chicken, pasta and salad. I was very surprised at the quality of the food. Adult beverages are included once you turn in your gear. Generous with beer and some mixed drinks. We chose to get the photography package by Christian and the photos turned out spectacular. My daughter got photographed with a turtle that was swimming. Yes, she was out of the turtle's personal space! I would highly recommend this excursion. read more

My husband and & I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary in Maui. We booked a private Catarman for a 12:30 afternoon snorkel with 45 people. We had Nick, Nico, and Kyle as an amazing crew.
