I try to be honest and clearly describe my experience. First their estimate for the repairs I needed were in the ball park; however I shopped around and found a repair shop that would do it cheaper. They were rude and offensive. Additionally while they first told me they would charge 460 or so for the repairs, they failed to inform me in a timely manner that the cost would be over twice that and they failed to tell me upfront what the diagnostics would cost. Place is garbage rip off they destroyed my mother's car and ripped her off.they lied to her now she can't even drive the car cause it has a gas leak.the car got towed in for fuel pump and had no issues before fuel pump now gas gauge don't work rear seat broken and leaking gas.There liers and scammers they don't know anything about cars. I brought my car to Gene Gorman Auto Repair, in Port Charlotte, assuming that I needed new brakes because the vehicle had over 30,000 miles. The mechanic looked at the brakes and told me they did not need to be replaced. In today's society it is almost unheard of to find a business with that kind of integrity. In 9 out of 10 businesses if I had brought my car in saying I thought it needed new brakes, I would have walked out with new brakes even though I didn't need them!! read more

For several years I have taken my pristine 2015 Mustang to Gene Gorman Auto Repair (Punta Gorda) for a variety of repairs. By and large, the workmanship then seemed o.k. Very recently, I took the car back to this shop for an oil change. An advance appointment had been made. I had to stand nearly 10 minutes at the front desk before anyone acknowledged my presence. As a very senior citizen, this was very physically difficult. I presented the clerk with a printed 'oil change 'coupon sent to me by the Gorman organization. The coupon promised a synthetic blend oil change for $44.99. There were no disclaimers on the coupon. Imagine my surprise when the invoice for this oil change totaled $59.78 ... almost $16 more than the amount promised on the coupon. To me, this false advertising amounts to commercial fraud. When I returned home with the car hours later, I discovered some liquid had been spilled down the inside of the driver's-side door in addition to a 3-inch diameter glob of dried food near the forward top edge of the door. What a disgusting mess! I attempted to get General Manager Owen Gorman's address to write him a note concerning these issues. His underlings refused to give it to me. I am a Master Certified ASE technician I was employed at Gene Gormans auto repair for 2 at first was seemed to be a good fit . I am active duty reserves in the military and thought would work out with my schedule with my children. I told both Managers I care more for car being done correctly than fast.. Now since I set the tone my 1st big job was swapping out an engine in a 2011 Ford Taurus SHO from the beginning the car was riddled with rust an issues 1 would expect with a northern car and when doing a motor swap.. the shop was charging the customer over 4000 dollars for the work. From the beginning Sam the shop manager and other service personnel were arguing with me about parts they refused to buy inlet lines and gaskets for the turbos and exhaust basically telling me use what you got and spend little well with process takes even more time to do a motor job as any mechanically inclined person would know but apparently not the intellectual managers at Gene Gorman Auto repair So to save some time 2 weeks after start of the engine job minus 4 days on wait for engine I started the car up and what would you know it ran great except for the oil leaks from the oil line cheap management wouldn't buy . So even knowing this was. because they wouldn't buy the correct parts I worked hours on the car again trying to fix the issues . This is were the start lie even worse for them to save face This happened on a Friday. I came in the Monday morning following that weekend to see another mechanic in shop and then Sam and Daniel the Managers telling me they are cutting ties with me because the car was taking to long and was having issues WTF I said in my head .. But I'm a grown mature man I said have a good day said goodbye to the other technicians working there loaded up my tool box and went on with life. Now 2 weeks later come to find out they are not paying for any work on the car or other cars I did and that the customer was being told it was issue with my compitance and that I had walked out on the job. So if you kept up this company lies to its customers skims parts that are need to save money for themselves. Terminates employees without paying them time owed .PLEASE THERE ARE MANY AUTO SHOPS AND CAR SALES LOT IN PORT CHARLOTTE AND PUNTA GORDA USE THEM. One star is way too much. First time visit and last time visit. I took my mustang in for brakes with low brake pedal. $600 bill and as I drove away the front drivers side was clunking and sound like metal on metal. Turned around and pulled back into. Mechanic was cursing under his breath and made every excuse possible it was something not his brake work and they never heard that noise after the brakes was done. UNREAL. Also found an extra $49 on my bill for a service they didn't complete. Warning.. DONT GO THERE !! read more

I bought a truck from gene Gorman auto sales. they are right next to this shop. they are owned by gene Gorman. I started having issues with my truck the next day after I purchased it. (I didn't drive it farther than the 4 miles home on the first day). I asked these guys to take a look at it to tell me what's wrong just so I could fix it and have peace of mind while driving that I wont break down. I wasn't asking for anything for free. I knew the truck had no warranty at all on it. I didn't care how much it would end up costing. I just wanted the piece of mind. they had the truck for 2 full days and told me nothing was wrong with it. when I took it to another mechanic, (a real mechanic) they found that the knock sensors were bad (one was even smashed inside the engine!), o2 sensor, radiator hoses leaked at the water pump connection and the thermostat housing. the power steering pump was leaking from the high pressure hose, valve cover gaskets leaked, stabilizer bars were bad. this place is not where you want to take your vehicle. they are a bunch of hacks!!! do not go there. there are others in town that are way better than these guys. they should give ME 5 stars for having me waste my time. read more

I purchased 2 used tires from Gene Gorman Auto Repair. One of the tires they replaces was a good tire we had agreed was not going to be replaced. One of the used tires I purchased from them was a flat tire so I had to purchase another tire somewhere else. I paid for 2 used tires and they took one of my good tires and one of the tires they sold me was garbage. I paid them for nothing. read more

I am still in disbelief over the excellent service I got at Gene Gorman Auto Repair. I drove to Port Charlotte to see my Dad in the hospital, and my 2007 Volvo broke down as soon as I got there. No other "European" car repair place would look at it until the next week, and I thought I would be stranded. Talked to Sam on the phone at 7:30 am and he was super nice. Rode with tow truck and these guys gave me a ride to the hospital. They had to order the parts as not too many Volvos in Port Charlotte. It was fixed the following day for less than I was quoted. Not only that, but they picked me up from Punta Gorda to get my car. When I arrived, my car had been repaired AND washed better than the $30 car wash I get at home. A Volvo repair is usually a major hassle and a major hit on the wallet. Sam and the rest of the guys went above and beyond my expectations, treated me like a person they actually cared about, and fixed my car promptly and at a fair price.
