Horrible! Walts Garage in Punta Gorda Car sat there for 3 1/2 weeks, couldn't get diagnosed properly, finally ordered a part we asked for an oil change too. Picked up car drove 1 block and lights came on. Turned around went back and they picked a fight wouldn't fix the new problem which they caused and denied the damage they caused.. Took my Expedition in for A/C and an exhaust leak. The quote came to my by text message. Little less than $4000 dollars. I said I will come pick up the car and asked if I owed anything for the estimate. I was told over the phone $266.00. When I went to pick up the car the guy at the desk reduced the estimate to $99.00 plus tax $105.93. I was never told about a fee for an estimate. No I will not be getting the work done at Walt's and I will not be using them in the future for anything. Pretty good racket.... 100 dollars for each estimate.... ! I asked for a printed copy of the estimate and billing for the estimate. I received a receipt for 105.93 but not the entire estimate. When I came home I tried to view the estimate on my text message and it would not let me view it. So I paid for an estimate that I cannot even look at.... !!! read more

Took my cayenne diesel in for an oil change and diagnose a small oil leak. Got the car back with half the oil it should have, oil filter not changed and a quote for $4000 to fix the oil leak. Decided to take the vehicle to my Porsche dealer here in Wisconsin to have leaked checked and was told oil filter not replaced, oil not changed and the leak was because the crush washer was not replaced as required. Thankful I didn't trust Walt's with repair and saved myself $4000!!! Oil leak has been small since the first oil change at Walt's in 2024. Likely because the crush washer wasn't replaced like it should have been. Definitely get a second opinion before you trust them with your Porsche and repair! I know now they aren't properly doing oil changes on Porsche's as well. read more

Maybe I am just an old woman who know nothing about cars but I do know how to research and my gut tells me when I am being ripped off. Approx 10 days ago I brought my car in for AC issues. I was charged over $600 and a fan was replaced. The AC still did not work so I scheduled to bring it in again and while I was initially given an appointment for Tues, I was soon called back and told that they actually meant Tues of the following week. OK people make mistakes but when I brought it in they seemed to have difficulties locating my information. OK after some time I left the car telling them to refill the freon and check for leaks. Soon I received a text, no call, informing me that I would need to pay approx 1K for repairs inc a diagnostic. I decided to accept only a portion of the repairs they said were needed. I'll see if the AC works after I pick it up. I don't know what is going on in SW Florida but I never had these difficulties in Ohio, maybe they think it is easy to take advantage of the elderly here. I did inform them that I was struck by the number of 1 star reviews on yelp and they dismissed this by saying that folks who post on yelp are known for giving bad reviews but this is not my experience to update after they read my review that I posted on Google, they refused to work on my car how rude and what a waste of my time read more

I first heard about Walt's Garage on the NextDoor site, where it had very positive reviews. I was able to obtain a written estimate for the work I wanted done on my 2018 Toyota RAV4. I made an appointment easily and I was very impressed with the professional and knowledgeable people with whom I dealt with. After a comprehensive inspection, several additional service items and/or repairs were recommended, each with a written estimate. Without any type of pressure, I was able to review the proposed additional work and then choose what I felt was appropriate. I'm very pleased with the work performed by Walt's Garage and I feel that I received quality work for a reasonable price. I'm currently making an appointment for Walt's to work on my 2012 Toyota RAV4 next week! Where should I begin. After being snubbed by the service advisor at Gettel Chevrolet, I stopped one of the technicians outside the garage who would he go to. He never hesitated in saying "the only place I would send any friends is Walt's Garage". Our issue was that we are from Iowa and were heading home in 2 days and had problems with our Acadia. I went to Walt's and the desk advisor (Roger) could not have been more helpful, he listened as I explained my problems to him, both mechanical and travel issue. He asked me if I could leave it for today and I told him no problem as I needed a rental anyway. He also hooked me up with his guys at Hertz Rental. So away I go on a Monday morning and received my estimate for repairs in about 2 hours and was able to go over and pick my car up on Tuesday afternoon. Outstanding Service. Took full advantage of my neighbor after having her car in for ac problems, charged over $2000 and it still does not blow cold. Now they want to replace more parts for over $400. They gave her a complimentry oil change she did not ask for as her last change was only 1000 miles ago and then wrote up her oil pan is leaking and costs of over $400 to fix it. Never had an oil leak in the past. Now oil dripping at a steady pace. Stay clear of this place. read more

I went in to see why the button on the drivers door for the passenger window was not working. It looked like someone pulled the button up too much. The passenger window button wasn't working either. So after looking at it, they said it will cost me over $800 and no guantee that it will work. Might have to replace parts in the passenger door. Thank GOD they had to order the part, which gave me time to research it myself. My friend who is handy with cars looked at it for a while, only for us to figure out it was the "child safety restraint button" was on, thereby not allowing all the doors except the drivers to work the window buttons. Had their mechanic known this, he should have pointed this out to me. (or did he?) Instead they handed me a bill for almost $900. When we turn the button off, the windows worked. So it's only the button on the drivers door, as I stated in the beginning. When I came to pick up the car, the window was up and they stated they rigged it up so don't use the window. Then they charged me $85 for the inspection. They didn't want me to play with the buttons because they knew I would figured it out sooner or later. I saw the many great reviews on their web page so I assumed I had found a great mechanic. Instead, another scam artist. I had my VTEC solenoid replaced because it was leaking oil which is a pretty common problem. After I paid the get my driveway pavers cleaned and sealed I noticed it was still leaking. There was also a main seal leak but they said it was minimal. I crawled under the vehicle and again it seems to be the VTEC solenoid leaking. I called them back and asked if that could just check and see if it was the solenoid. They replied it would be another $85 diagnostic charge. We paid Walz a total of approximately $1800 for various repairs. So if they don't repair your car right the first time they want another $85 to see what they failed to do. It was my first and last time using them. read more

My first encounter with them was a simple maintenance service, and they performed it promptly with great communication by text messages, including pictures of the work they performed on the car. Let me start by saying I am female, not a FL resident (out of state plates), and have a seldom used Mercedes 550SL that suddenly died at our winter house. The trifecta of bad news....I was one hour from each MB dealer in my area, and was literally in tears as the tow driver asked where to go with the car. Knowing an hour flatbed tow would be $500, I quickly scanned google and found Walt's Garage. Great reviews, specializes in imports, specializes in challenging issues. "Driver, take me to WALTS!" Upon getting there, Bobby did a fabulous job calming me down. This was the week following Hurricane Ian, so SO MANY CARS were being towed from flooding. Their lot looked like a high end dealership with Audis, BMWs, and Mercedes cars literally everywhere. Max explained that it might be a few weeks before they could look at my car, as obviously the ones on the lot waiting to be fixed trumped me. 100% understandable. So......In my head I am convinced they will be fixing my car and adding some zeros to the bill, as I truly was at their mercy. But, THANK GOD I FOUND WALT'S! Within a short time, a call came that it was my starter. I looked over their estimate, and literally could not believe it - way cheaper than my MB dealer at home! A quick call to my dealer in WI and he was pretty floored at their pricing. He stated it easily would have been double the price at home. When the time came to get my car, I was in another pickle as I am alone at our FL house since hubs flew out for business that morning. I am new to the area so asking a pal to take me is quite the inconvenience. When the lovely attendant (I am so sorry, I forgot her name!) told me they would shuttle me, FOR FREE, I almost fell over. Again, I am 20 minutes from this place. Within 25 minutes, a LOVELY shuttle driver (Chief!) showed up. We had a delightful ride up to Walt's, and my car was done. I could not be more thankful to have found an honest mechanic that can actually service my MB (very well, too!). In hindsight after the starter was replaced, it starts so much more smoothly now. My takeaways? 1. Walt's Garage is fabulous 2. There are very good, honest folks that work there 3. In the worst of times (one week after a Cat 4+ hurricane), they still were 100% about customer service. Way to go, Walt's. Be very wary of this place, i had almost 8,000 dollars of work done here only to find out while driving home that oil is leaking from the heads along with anti-freeze. These fumes were blowing into the cab of the car while driving, i had no choice but to use AC since it was 98 outside. I had 2 mechanics look at the car and confirmed that oil and antifreeze was leaking from the heads and the radiator hoses, which were not replaced when the new engine was put in. I went with this garage because it offered a nation wide warranty if i ran into problem, this was important to me since i lived over 1,000 miles away. Both garages that offered service for the warranty confirmed with the warranty company that it was not covered even though i was told several times by the owner that it would be covered. As of this date still don't have an answer why the warrant would not cover the work. I would not trust these people to plug a hole in my tire. If I could give -5 stars i would, caused me a lot of headaches and missed time from work taking this back to the shop and having to rent a car while my car was being worked on. read more

I brought my 2014 BMW 528i to Walt's Garage for an oil change, battery replacement and to have them install a new door handle on the interior of my car yesterday. After examination of my car they proceeded to tell me my oil pan was cracked and I needed to replace the oil pan and the repair was going to cost over $1500 dollars mind you the car is parked in my garage without one drop of oil on my garage floor. But that's not the end of story. They proceeded to tell me they attempted to install the interior door handle and it didn't fit and charged me an additional $197. My neighbor and I used the same handle and with a modifcation that took approximately 5 minutes it was fine that whole process took less than an hour. I ended up paying a $1000 dollars for an oil change and battery replacement. I have been a loyal customer of Walt's Garage since I moved here 2018. His business model has changed and he no longer is at the garage full time. Stay clear of this place. read more

Unfortunately I CANT say it was a good experience, the saddest part of it all is that it was my first time going to the shop, chose it because it was highly recommended by coworkers. The completed a "diagnostic" on the vehicle, told me what the "problem was", gave a quote of an outrageous amount, which made me go for a second advice/opinion on what the problem might be.... next morning went to another shop, and they found & fixed the issue for more than $500.00 (less) difference. To top it off it was a completely different problem (issue) with the vehicle than the one that Walt's mechanic stated. Will not be returning to this shop for further work. read more

I had power steering fluid rapidly leaking from my car. I called Walt's Garage and told them the issue. Even though they were short staffed, booked out for weeks, they told me to come in right away so they could look at it. We were greeted by very friendly staff. They took it back right away to see how bad it was. The waiting room was very clean and comfortable, they offered snacks and had a drink cooler for us as we waited. It only took a moment to come back and tell us what the issue was. They told us not to drive the car because an inexpensive repair could get very expensive if we drove it. They asked if we could leave it with them right away (even though we didn't have an appointment). We came back two hours after they closed. They were still there and treated us as if we were the only customers they had that day. As we started to leave in another car I pulled up to the garage to turn around and that car died... I could say it was a bad day, but I think it was the best day ever, because I went back in to talk to them and they immediately stopped what they were doing and looked at the second car. It was just a cable that came off the battery post. They had it fixed within 2 min. I was so happy it died there instead of out on the road somewhere. Even though it was hours after closing time they were friendly, helpful, hospitable, and knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend this garage, and this will be my only stop for future repairs. read more
