Purchased a car at Gene Gorman's only to discover that two tires needed to be replaced asap. Also, the brake booster was faulty and leaking; and, needed to be replaced. Walt's Garage at 208 E. Ann Street in Punta Gorda fixed both issues for a total cost of $1,320.08 When I shared the two tire issues and the Brake Booster at Gene Gorman's Auto Sales today, November 7, 2025 management refused to compensate. Never again will I do business with this place or any of their locations. First location lied to us and we called them out about it, the salesman walked away from us. Said good luck with that. Then we went to other lot, greeted by brandin. He was not the issue but he did fail to tell us when the payments would be due and the insurance requirement. We are military we purchased gap insurance our car was totaled and they fraudEd us. Gap never paid because they didn't pay it! It ruined our credit I called Brenda over 10 times asking fir my gap insurance money back everytime they said she was out of the office. the owner claims to be military I'm having a hard time believing this because military is supposed to be family and we have been treaTed like dirt ! The worst place to buy a car from! They will sell you a bad car and then when it has problems less then a week later they will not help you! They will charge you full price to fix it to get more money out of you! Also terribly rude when they were told about the situation of a baby in a hot car because the ac went out and a bad transmission they didn't even care what car they sold to a lady with a baby. They literally said what do you expect when your only willing to spend 6500 on a car! That's alpt of money that this young mom saved up to hopefully have a safe car for her and her child and now it's a pile of junk only had it for about 2 months and is had Trans mission problems of drum sounds 5 days after it was bought! I just purchased a car at the Gene Gormans lot at 3350 Tamiami in Punta Gorda. They really went out of their way to help meet my needs. I came in to this location specifically because my mother of age 75 had went in to purchase a car a few weeks earlier. I did not think she needed a new car seeing her car is in wonderful condition. But she thought she did. The manager drove her car and was so honest with her. He told her that her car was fine and that she really did not need a new one. We had a great experience here. The sales staff was nice and knowledgeable. They didn't put the hard sell on us. I liked that they helped each other out. Also, the price we agreed upon was the price we got. We didn't end up with a bunch of add-ons at the end. It's farther away from us than a lot of other dealerships, but I would definitely buy another car there. The owners have done a fantastic job of creating a family atmosphere and a feeling of trust. read more

Stay away. Got caught in a situation of needing to find a used car quickly, so put up with a lot that would have normally sent me somewhere else: hard-sells and high dealer fees were only the beginning of the problem. The "great condition" car turned out to be a complete mess: Dying battery and a bad alternator within 200 miles, which actually turned out to be bad computers, wiring, and sensors, which will cost in excess of $4k to repair -- as much as the car cost. In less than two months, I'm now looking for another car, as the "Taillight Warranty" means that this one is good for nothing more than squeezing into a pitcher of iced tea. read more

Needed a car in a hurry, never a good spot to be in. Had heard good things about Gorman's. Checked out website and saw a couple of possibilities, made appointment for next morning. Salesman picked me up and test drive was not a short one as I always check a car at highway speed. On the lot were a couple other options and we took one car to their other two lots to look around. Salesman Steve was patient and friendly. Even stopped at Micky D's to use wifi and research car. Ended up purchasing that car. The manager, Brandon, was great and I walked away thinking I got the best deal I could. Can't ask for more than that. Overall a pleasant experience at a trying time. Where to begin. We drove down from St Pete only to be greeted by very rude service. Left and ended up getting a pre-approved loan with our bank. When the bank talked to the guy he was yet again very rude and mister know it all. Yet we had a check in hand for the vehicle. We ended up driving down again and closing the deal (do't know why but we did). Now they come with a 3k 90 day warranty. Keep that in mind. Our A/C went out, our radiator is leaking, the Cam Phaser's are giving out (which will eventually lock the engine if not replace), and the rear air suspension has gone out. we have had the car since January. i have put 5,000 dollars in so far and have another 2 grand to go. This was a 24K vehicle! Anytime we call we basically get/got sorry you're out of your warranty. and when we were still under it the answer was just take it in. Yeah awesome. I would never use this place again and this piece of junk i am basically remodeling is a constant reminder. I did 8 years in the Army and i thought we took care of our own. Not the case. Buyer beware. I dont think i have ever been so badly treated or been hosed so bad by a company. read more

I needed a pick up truck. I looked around quite a bit before I saw one I really liked. it was at gene Gorman's dirt cheap cars lot in Punta gorda. the salesman was very helpful. of course, he wanted to sell me the truck. I test drove the truck and thought it was a decent truck for the price. I purchased the truck and it was a no warranty as is deal. that's when I should have walked away. I drove the truck home which is about 5 miles south off 41 from where the dealership was located. my buddy that lives in san Carlos park wanted to see the truck so I headed down 41 to show it off to him. on my way home, the check engine light came on and it started to overheat a little. it started to run rough at stop lights. I got it home and called the dealership to ask them to have their mechanic look at it to tell me what's wrong. that's all I wanted was a honest opinion to what it needed. so I could fix it and have no worries. well I dropped it off to have them look at it. the check engine light had shut off and they told me they couldn't tell me what's wrong without the light coming on. I asked them about the overheating issue. he then asked to leave it another day. they called me the next day and couldn't duplicate the problem . but, they changed the fuel filter, I was told. really? nothing is wrong, but they changed the fuel filter? I picked up the truck and it seemed fine. next day, I went to work. the check engine light came on again, the truck ran like crap. the dealership told me on 2 different occasions after that, 2 weeks apart from each other that they were going to have the mechanic call me. I was completely blown off after that. the truck is now at a downtown Punta Gorda auto mechanic getting 2 knock sensors, an o2 sensor, 2 valve cover gaskets, a high pressure power steering hose, an intake manifold gasket and the radiator had no coolant in it because the hoses were loose. I would have to say, I will walk to work before buying another vehicle from gene Gorman. good reputation or not. they did absolutely nothing to help me out or to make it right. they just took my money and laughed at me while I drove away. that's not a good way to get repeat customers. that's why they get 1 star. they should have given ME stars for my bad experience. read more
