After reading some of the reviews on here, I was a little hesitant to come in. When I first arrived, I could see what some people were talking about. That said, after actually talking with the owner, my opinion changed. He's very old-school and no-nonsense, which I can see how that might rub some people the wrong way. But if you take a moment to talk with him, he really opens up and is actually very nice. I brought in a pair of shoes that needed stitching replaced. I like to support local businesses. I read the reviews but prefer to make my own decisions. I'm happy I did. I brought in 3 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of boots for various repairs from restitching, separated soles, heel replacement etc. Peter went over each pair of shoes/boots with me to make sure he knew what type of repair each pair needed. Then he did a quick once over with me to make sure he didn't miss anything and got each pair of shoes/boots needed repairs correct. I picked up my shoes/boots today after careful inspecting each pair of shoes/boots I was very pleased with the repairs done on each and every pair. The quality of his work is great you can't even tell that any of the shoes/boots needed any type of repair. You can't even tell there was any repair done. They look as good as new. His prices were absolutely fair. I would definitely recommend his work and will definitely use him for all my future shoe repair needs. Adding to my prior review. I went back to request a refund for the money collected for cutting down my heels. I was initially happy to see owner as I have had previous positive interactions with him. I explained what happened with his worker who took payment for service not rendered nor did he tell me service had not been performed. Well the owner told me or shall I say yelled at me telling me he would not refund my money and that his worker "is a nice kid" This worker is a grown man not a kid. Asked me "are you perfect,don't you make mistakes" A true example of transference, blame the victim. We had alot of heated back and forth and he ,the owner told.me he would do the work himself and bring my shoes to my home.not only do I no longer trust this business, I definitely do not trust them to be anywhere near my home. He then advised that I could pick up my shoes today after 1pm.I picked my shoes up, he cut then down by 1/4 inch. It's not worth the aggravation and lack of respect to the costumer for me to spend my money at this place of business that practices deceitful business practices. He was going to charge me $15 for a pair of $5-$10 heel repair for skinny heels and$25 for the sneaker strap. He kept trying to convince me that I'm getting a good deal.I even had a really cheap pair of wedges that weren't with the $15. He still tried to covince me that I should. A total of like $65. Now I wasn't expecting to pay that much even with 5 pairs. So I decided my sneakers were the most important one sneaker mind you was the only thing I needed fixed. $25 for one side I don't think so. I wish I had never set foot in that place! The owner is arrogant and condescending. He didn't follow my instructions, has no attention to detail and no desire to be flexible. As a result, my brand new and expensive hiking boots and trail sneakers were stretched too much in the wrong places or under-stretched in the places I wanted them stretched! For example, I asked to stretch the left shoe more because of the bunion -- instead they stretched the right shoe to the point when it's falling off while the left shoe remained under-stretched. I didn't want the heel stretched at all -- sure enough, it got stretched! And yet my other long boots were hardly stretched even though they are made of soft leather and would be quite amenable to the process. I made several trips to that place and even brought written instructions for each of the four pairs because the owner didn't care to write anything down during my first visit. I was also hoping to try on my boots/shoes while they were being stretched to ensure the right fit. The owner would not agree to let me do that claiming that it was too much trouble for him to take them off and put them back on the stretcher (takes a few seconds!). He has no customer services skills and no desire to do the job right. Takes cash only, no price menu anywhere. Berates you if you question his price. His assistant is much more humble and accommodating -- but he doesn't make the rules. Awful experience overall! read more

The first time I went in, the employee at the desk was very nice and friendly. I had gone in for a zipper that was splitting on my boots. He said it was probably the zipper pull that was broken and not the zipper. He said it would be ready the next Saturday (about a week). I collected the boots and the first time I tried to zip them up, the zipper split again. I went back with the boots and he wasn't as nice this time and said maybe the zipper needed to fixed. We picked them up and he said they should be fine. Alas, they split again. I took them elsewhere last week because I felt like we were going nowhere. I was excited to spend only $15 to fix them but they are still broken! In fact, I picked them up from the second place Saturday and tried wearing them today and the other boot split. Do not come here! I should have read previous Yelp reviews since many have had similar experiences. I brought in a pair of sandals. I explained that I wanted the sandals stretched out in the front. They do not write anything down when you explain what you want done which I find weird because how could they possibly remember the requests of every customer without getting confused? I decided to leave them thinking that they must be professionals and remember these things. I came in to pick up the sandals and I noticed that they were done incorrectly. I noticed that instead of stretching out the front strap they stretched the back strap. In telling the owner this he began to speak to me in a condescending way. I will say I felt some type of way because of the way he was speaking to me but I proceeded on telling him what I had asked for. He then proceeded on berating me calling me a "moron" and that the cut from the back strap was done by the shoe company!? I told him no, because I have had these shoes for a long time and that this particular cut was never there. I got upset due to the "moron" comment and told him that I had shown him respect in explaining my complaint and that he needs to show me the same. He continued with this tone and it appeared like he was not going to give me my shoes back but he retracted and threw the shoes on the counter. I've taken maybe 20 pairs of shoes here over the past 6 or 7 years, and have been mostly satisfied. They have resoled my shoes and boots well and reattached parts that have come undone. They've had a harder time with more complicated repairs. I haven't had a problem with the people that work there or the owner -- he does have a bit of a gruff exterior, but I haven't had any conflict with him. I'm glad the shoe repair place is there. She then asked why the price was so high for a quick fix, and then he berated her yelling asking if he was going to work for free. I don't know what has happened to this place but I now need to find a shoe repair facility. They measured the shoe to adjust the strap on june 11 at which time they had me pre-pay for the repair. Every time I went back they were not done. Today (august 21) I went back and was told the man who does this work (who only works on Fridays) needs to measure me. That's what he did on june 11!!!! When I told the man who was working that I wanted to take my shoes and get my money back he told me I had to calling tuesday because he wasnt allowed to give me a refund without approval. The problem with this place is that the owner just doesn't want to be in this business. His name is Lamech. His demeanor is sullen, his regard for the customer is borderline rude. Who wants to go to a place where the owner's every move demonstrates how much he doesn't want to be doing THIS. That attitude translates into shoddy work, but worse an unpleasant experience for the customer. I left a pair of expensive shoes for a resole and agreed to pay a top dollar price for it. He named it, I said OK. I was promissed a call within a week, but none came for two. I finally just came in and found the less than quality repair - one of the soles was not glued properly and was already separating at the seam. The owner argued about it with me and then acted like he was going to do me a big favor and agreed to redo, promissing a "call when ready." I paid, took the shoes and left. I took a pair of (really nice, expensive) boots here to get resoled and had to pay upfront for the job. The boots were finished in 24 hours, but the work was shoddy. The soles started to pull within a week and, less than two months later, were completely unwearable and had to go get resoled again. The soles had not been nailed in properly and the guy didn't sew on parts of it on completely either. I paid a lot of money for the job and it was bad work. I ended up going to another cobbler to repair the job and that cobbler was stunned at how awful the initial resoling had been on my boots. I found this store online and when I went in the establishment was not welcoming. I decided to not judge a book by its cover and get my purse repaired. The repair cost more than the purse. I was also asked to pre pay for service I didn't receive yet. Most places make you put down a deposit and pay the remaining balance when it's time to pick up the finished product. After a repair that I paid $25 for fell apart, I asked for a partial refund, feeling generous to a local business. I had used this place several years ago and they were fine. I took a pair of my favorite shoes in there to have them re-soled. What a LOUSY job they did, aesthetically speaking. The soles weren't cut accurately, there were strips of rubber still semi-attached to the cuts; the sole didn't look like it was put on with any care or fastidiousness. But I thought, "oh well, its just the bottom of the shoes. Who ever sees the bottoms?" Well, after 5 wearings, the new sole is cracking and they will have to be re-soled again. I initially visited this shoe cobbler based on the ratings I saw online. I had a side of a pair of shoes that needed to have the button put on and a new mid size wristlet that needed a small piece of metal that was missing near the handle when I first purchased it. This morning I went to collect my items and was extremely disappointing with the repairs that was made. When I dropped off the purse I mentioned the issue with the purse and the cobbler said he may have the inside piece that was missing that could fix it. I'm not sure what happened but rather than being honest and say the purse could not be fixed the glued the ring from the handle of the purse that is leather. Mind you this cost me $15.00. I was not happy with the repair to the shoe either but I can live with that. Nonetheless, I will never visit this cobbler again.
