Placed a large team order with the promise it would be delivered before Christmas only to be ignored when asking for updates via email. Our team representative was then told via phone not to worry it will be there by Christmas. Then we get emails today that it has shipped and will be delivered 12/27. Disappointed and won't utilize them again. I would cancel or return but because they are custom we cannot. I got a brand new pair of skates and they always felt "off" and after trying different sharpenings... footbeds... lacing patterns... even waxed/non-waxed laces... literally everything I could think of to solve it. I was ready to sell my skates and take a loss on them just to get into something else. I heard about General Sports and how they profile/contour blades and figured it was worth a shot so I made an appointment to get it done. The guy I talked to REALLY knew his stuff and I explained what issues I was having and he checked the skates out which ended up having an issue straight out of the box (long story). After about an hour and only 40 dollars... which is crazy cheap in my book for the time he spent talking to me and ACTUALLY listening unlike the store I bought them for a small fortune! Now let me tell you... I can NOT even begin to explain how much it changed the skates! I always caught the toe of the blades on takeoff and crossovers and they felt way too long and square is the best way I can describe it. After the profiling I could IMMEDIATELY feel the difference and could tell the issues I was having were GONE! Just like that... again I can't really explain it other than it makes a HUGE difference and in my case it made all the difference. By the end of our 1 hour practice I was actually shocked how much more "connected" to the ice I felt. Super agile on turns and transitions... no more catching the toes on crossovers... and probably the biggest difference was my takeoffs! I used to feel like I had lead skates when I would try to accelerate from stopped and now I feel like I have rockets on my feet lol. I know this is a novel of a review (and I am not one to even take the time to leave a review honestly)... but this place deserves it! I can't say it will be the "amazing fix" for you like it was for me... but for me it made me love my skates that I literally wanted to throw in the trash just so I could try something else. Wow, I'd never been here before, but as it is close to my house and I was in need of a trophy for the next Elite Event I thought I'd give this place a go. Play lacrosse, soccer, baseball, or hockey? They have a damn fine assortment of goods here that will make any amateur spots lover a well-equipped participant. For such a small store front, I was truly impressed with their selection. But, back to the trophy, when I asked the CS dude if they had any, he replied, "We get that question all the time and no we don't." "That's cool," I responded. "Do you know where I can get one?" General Sports has been in business for such a long time for a reason. Their staff is very knowledgeable about the products they sell. Especially if you want hockey equipment. They are EXTREMELY patient and will bend over backwards to work with you to get the right equipment and get it to fit. Their prices are competitive with other stores and the internet plus the added bonus of truly amazing service. Another huge benefit of going there is that if you buy skates there you get free sharpening for life. At the typical $5 a sharpening that is quite a benefit. What's not to love about this place? Great selection for a smaller shop and the service is outstanding. If Hockey is your thing, you'll love GS! Matt, Nick and Ryan know there stuff and will do anything to make the customer happy. They are often slammed on weekends and these guys never stop running. Literally. They remember you by name and will sometime surprise you with a free skate sharpen if the wait has been longer than they'd like. Don't bother with the big sports warehouses, you'll get much more personal attention and know-how at a place like GS. read more

I have called and emailed their customer service several times now without a response. They can't even seem to acknowledge my presence. The products are always great quality, but I'm very disappointed with the way I've been treated. The prices are a retail so if you are looking for a bargain this is the wrong store, but if you have any hockey questions or need any type of repair done to your gear this is the place. The staff are most knowledgeable and their their service is 10/10. In the future everything I need for hockey, I will get from General sports. read more
