As soon as I am feeling better, Im already monkeying around so I came here on Memorial Day Monday…read moreto do some climbing. VITAL also sent me an email to wish me a happy birthday and I was scratching my head as to how I got on their email list and I think what happened is that I have climbed VITAL in Brooklyn before (like years ago), so thats how I got on the list. I didnt realize they were all connected, so super cool to know this! And they offered me a free day to climb so of course this little gym rat showed up! This is a really nice all bouldering gym and I really enjoyed my time here! I still like Mesa Rim the best but this gym is purely for bouldering and I am biased towards all bouldering gyms!! Alex helped me out and was very nice. He had me fill out a waiver, you do have to watch a 2 minute video about how climbing is dangerous and how to fall. I loved this gym because everything felt spacious but also not a lot of people today so that was cool. They also had a lot of their windows and doors opened so a great breeze coming in and just the perfect day to boulder!! I spent about 2 hours here and there were mostly men climbing. This one guy that was climbing was so built that I had trouble focusing on my climbs vs staring at him. He was very nicely chiseled and chose not to wear a shirt, so I was drooling a bit haha. He was cute for sure and we even exchanged a few glances, wink wink! The routes here weren't intuitive for me. They use a color coding system here like Bouldering Project but it was odd to me that some graded easy climbs I had difficult with and then some that are supposed to be hard, I easily climbed those...I couldnt figure out what was going on... There are 4 bathrooms on the bottom floor and a few have showers in them too. Bathrooms were clean and nice. There is an upstairs area thats for yoga classes and also an area where they have ellipticals and bikes. I very much enjoyed climbing here and definitely will be back. Im considering either punch passes or maybe pull the trigger and join, but Oside is a little bit far for me to come regularly. I wish they had a location in Del Mar lol. When I was leaving a bunch of women showed up and aerial silk class was about to start so thats really cool they offer that too! Was so cool to see the colorful silks hang from the ceiling! Overall, an awesome experience! Thank you for my free climb birthday gift and Im definitely coming back!!

Mellow Friday Evening Session with Ocean Breeze at Vital Climbing Gym…read more Came in on a Friday evening around 7pm and it was surprisingly not packed at all -- perfect timing! One side had a class going on while the free climbers had the other side to themselves. The floors are super soft and bouncy, which makes it feel safe (great for teens or anyone worried about falls). The music and overall noise level stayed low, giving the whole place a nice mellow, relaxed vibe. Being an open structure, the ocean breeze sweeps right through and feels refreshing, especially on a warm evening. You could even hear the occasional motorcycle drive by on Coast Hwy, but that was the only real outside noise. I noticed a lot of stretching happening, so if you're into yoga or want a good change-up from just climbing, this seems like a solid spot for that too. Overall, a chill and welcoming environment. Definitely a nice way to unwind after the week.

This one is by far the best. It's well maintained and VERY clean; both out on the floor and in the locker room. The other members are well educated, friendly, and courteous when lifting weights/doing cardio's. Rarely do you hear grunts, groans and dropping weights. The front counter staff are friendly; both coming and going. The trainers are professional and know what they're doing. I like this facility. How often do I go; 7/7 (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas)

I was a longtime member at FIT (~ 10 years), I was a member at La Jolla Lifetime, Broadway Athletic club, among others. It's $245 per month and doesn't at least have a wet/dry sauna combo. It only has a wet sauna. Maybe I'm being spoiled, but no dry sauna, no outdoor area, no cold plunge, no pool/hot tub... plus the showers are absolutely tiny. I'm only 5'8" and I feel like I'm back in the Navy with these tiny showers. The weight area is also very small. My point is, I feel like this is the lowest of all the premium gyms in San Diego. If a FIT or a LIFETIME opened in La Costa I would likely switch instantly.

Carlsbad Village Athletic Club hosts Sunday morning yoga every week near the volleyball nets on Frazee Beach. Their waving yoga banners are easy to spot from the sea wall. The instructor is very lovely. She led the small class of five through a blend of opening poses & set a peaceful vibe, complete with some gentle assists & eucalyptus oil therapy. CVAC's rates recently increased from $10 to $15 a class, which is steep for a one hour outdoor session. $15 is on par with indoor studios that provide other amenities & equipment. With the nature of the soft sloping sand at Frazee, I personally found it too easy to dump all my weight into my wrists in inverted poses. Unless the class moves down to the more solidly packed sand, Frazee is better suited for meditation, seated, or standing poses. Beach yoga is a win either way, and CVAC's class is definitely worth checking out on a snoozy Sunday morning.

The yoga teachers have their own style, rhythm vibe and teachings which I love for the variety. They offer classes on Saturday & Sunday mornings and between the months April to September they offer Sunset classes which are breathtaking! I have asthma so I find doing the classes outside provides open-air versus inside where the air can be a bit stuffy at times causing it hard to breathe and making it unpleasant. Yoga should be relaxing allowing you to be present and aware of oneself in the moment. The stimulation we received from our senses in this outdoor environment make the whole experience different.......Like the feeling of sand beneath our feet or hearing the waves crash against the shore and let's not forget natural absorption of vitamin D from the Sun! Yes, at times it can be challenging because the ground is unstable but know your body and know your limits. I personally like it because it challenges me to work on my core more. All the teachers are certified and can help you with any modifications. I highly recommend CVAC Beach Yoga. You just might see dolphins or whales and that my friend you will not find in a studio!

These are probably the best courts to play at in North county San Diego…read more This place offers luxury courts with general admission pricing. I have played here a few times and each time the experience has gotten better and better. Everything from the lights, The court surface, and the viewing deck are top notch. You can tell that no detail has been spared in making these courts. The lights have a fast refresh rate, and basically make it as bright as day when you are playing at night. The court area is very large, and honestly it used to be a little annoying to chase down all the balls, but the owner recently set up little blockers which have cut down the ball chasing time immensely. The owner is a super cool guy and a veteran. So he is very military friendly. He's also a Selkirk rep, so hit him up for everything selkirk There's also adequate parking and I have seen up to 20 cars parked in the dirt lot next to the courts no problem. I've heard the owner is in the process of putting in an additional court, and when that happens I can't think of a better place to hold an 8 person round robin or mini tournament! Rates go for $20 an hour for court rentals and $40 an hour for private drilling/lessons. Hard to beat that!

I cannot say enough about this little slice of paradise that Jimmy has created in Fallbrook.
