My boyfriend and I stayed at Generations Riviera Maya during our trip to Cancun for our friends' wedding. Candidly, we didn't have a choice on our accommodations since Generations Riviera Maya was blocked off for the wedding guests. I was impressed by the resort and had an overall pleasant stay. TLDR... We booked a room with the swim-up pool. When we checked in, we were upgraded to the first floor, where we had the swim up right into the main pool. We were also close enough to access a personal concierge, restaurants, etc. In general, I thought that our suite was awesome. The bathroom had a bath tub, Jack and Jill sinks, and a spacious shower with a waterfall shower head. Our suite had a living room, a stocked fridge, and even a little dining area. There were a few things that irked me about the room, though. - Some of the hinges on the cabinets and drawers were shoddy. - The socket holes didn't securely keep plugs in place, so electronics had a hard time charging. The screen door kept coming off its tracks. - The temperature in the room was difficult to regulate. I often felt too cold. - Loved the waterfall shower head, but didn't love the shower design. Water kept escaping underneath the shower door, which had a huge gap. We had to wedge body towels to block the gap and soak up water, otherwise water went everywhere. I scheduled reservations for the spa and tours when I was at the resort. Náay spa was on the 4th floor of the facility. The menu itself doesn't have pricing, but the spa receptionists were super helpful in detailing the prices and service offerings. Food reviews: Room service food was a hit or miss. Things that were decent had flavor, otherwise everything else we tried was bland. We only had breakfast at the Chef Market. Mostly everything was made to order and/or served to you with the exception of the juice bar. The breakfast at Chef Market was better than Palms. I was not a fan of the drinks from the pool bar. They were way too sweet and tasted like they were made with alternative sweeteners like sorbitol or nutrasweet. Reservations are not required at Habb (Indian restaurant), but we made one anyway since it was pretty busy at our resort. Food was a 4 out of 5. We had a fine dining experience at Wine Kitchen. You'll definitely need reservations there, and we thought the food was 5 out of 5. Very flavorful and elegant presentations. The tomato soup was incredible. We ate a couple of times at Palms. One time for breakfast and the other times for lunch. I felt that the food was pretty solid. Between Palms and Chef Market, I found that Palms was the better casual dining restaurant. Only thing to negatively note was that Palms' breakfast menu didn't have that many options as compared to the lunch menu. Náay Spa: Although I booked my spa appointments at Generations, both treatments were done at the Náay spa location in the Casitas resort. They were having a deal on couples' massage called the Soulmate Experience that included a 60 minute water journey, aromatherapy ritual, 50 minute massage, and 15 minute reflexology. This 2-hour experience was $329 USD for a couple, which was such an incredible deal in my opinion. It was a very romantic couples massage with the little ritual we did together at the beginning of the session. We both agreed that our massages were excellent. Speaking for myself, the massage I received was one of the best I've had while on vacation. I also scheduled the Temazcal. I've been in ceremony before with sweat lodges, so I was excited to find that this service stayed true to indigenous traditions. If you're ready for a deep, spiritual transformation, then definitely do this. Miscellaneous: The staff members were very friendly and nice. They try to converse with you and genuinely care about your well-being. The shuttle service wasn't the best. The countdown timer in front of the concierge lounge in building 18 basically meant nothing. I had to request shuttles whenever I had to make my appointments or run out for specific errands at the main office. I booked a Chichen Itza and cenote tour with the Lomas Travel kiosk next to the pool. The agent was super helpful and explained everything thoroughly to me.

Generations riviera maya was a dream vacation spot for a quick getaway. My fiancé and I were there for her cousins wedding and could not speak highly of the place. We were on the family side of the resort and got a swim up pool room, which was perfect! If you want just adults, you can book in their adults only section. Being able to wake up and jump right in the pool was a highlight! The all inclusive resort was a key in booking this resort, as there were plethora food choice options. The best place we ate at was the wine kitchen for dinner! Other than the wedding, the best part was the couples romantic massage on the beach! A well worth it tour got us a reduced price and my fiancé and I were in heaven through the whole thing! You start off with an hour of hydrotherapy and then the couples massage! We would def book again! Gave this 4 stars as there were some hassles with the original booking.

My Husband & I had a great experience here. From the moment the transportation team picked us up from the airport to the moment they dropped us back off to the airport, everything went smoothly! Staff was friendly & happy to help at any given moment. Front desk was kind, attentive & helpful. Directions & protocols are very transparent. Rooms are so cozy, beds are so comfortable, the pool outside our room was beautiful & relaxing. Fridges fully stocked with drinks. We had to request more water bottles a few times though. One night we didn't have the humidifier on in the room & our passports curled up by the morning! Lol! It's easy to walk to all the restaurants, no reservations were needed. Food was so great! Always given plenty of options and portions. Everything seems to come with an appetizer, entree & dessert which was fabulous! Our favorite server was Jj! He made everything so special & fun. The beach is beautiful but we felt paranoid based on a few other comments seen from other people so we mainly stayed on resort property. It's easy taking a shuttle over to the hotels next door but just be careful because when they stop running.... It will be a longggggg walk back. We got lucky & paid a worker to give us a ride back one late night, but the driver was talking bad about the guests & cursing about them (assuming I didn't understand) ....it didn't pertain to us, so I didn't address it. The pool & swim up bar is a great addition, my only complaint is that the "mixers" are very different than mixers in the US, so the drinks taste a little differently, almost watered down, the vodka cran just tastes like a sweet drink with vodka (not actual cranberry juice) I recommend sticking to beer & wine. There was a man cutting open coconuts to drink out of on property which was a nice vacation drink to enjoy. We bought a few souvenirs from a lady's cart on property which quickly added up to $100 US dollars, so be mindful of that, or try to bargain. That was definitely a rip off. We went to a rooftop wedding which was beautiful, had amazing views, food, music, dancing ect. Everyone had a great time. I really loved this place, and hope to be back again in the future. I felt really safe which was important to me. Generations Riviera Maya is magical! 10/10!

We were so excited to spend our vacation here. We booked a 2 bedroom, oceanfront swim up suite which was beautiful on the inside and very spacious. Came with a small kitchenette, microwave, stove top and fridge and a huge dining table enough to seat 8. Nice jetted rubs and rain shower in the bathrooms. However we were given the innermost corner of building 18, rooms 18381 and 91 which barely had ocean view. Unless you are in the plunge pool, you can't see the ocean. They have 3 restaurants that serve only dinner. Haab serves Indian, Jade is the Asian inspired and wine kitchen. There is chef market that's a buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and palms for lunch alone. For a gourmet all inclusive, the dining options were limited and food was just ok except Haab. We absolutely loved dining at Haab, great food and excellent location with sweeping views of the ocean. We didn't enjoy the food at jade. Wine kitchen is a rather deceiving name, the same house wines (2 whites, 2 reds, sparkling and rose) are served as a part of the all inclusive package and they are not very good. Rest of the wine is pretty pricy and very high mark up. You are looking at paying $100 for a bottle of wine that you can find in the US for under $20. They have some good top shelf alcohol like grey goose vodka, grand mariner, Hennessy and don Julio tequila. Room service options are limited. The staff at chef market, Haab, and swim up bar is a 5 star, they do everything to get things done. We also enjoyed the mexican fiesta that happens every Thursday night. The beach is terrible, full of sea weed and rocks. Looks pretty from far but not fun to swim. If you do plan to get in, get water shoes to avoid getting your feet hurt from the rocks. The view is blocked by the concrete barriers which the resort claims is done do reduce soil erosion. They try to sell bali beds/beach cabanas but they are first come first serve basis if you don't want to spend on concierge reserving that for you. Luckily it wasn't so busy when we traveled so we could find a beach cabana without reserving it. They do try to sell you their membership program and offer incentives like excursions or spa if you attend. There is a butler lounge and you get concierge service but we were disappointed with the concierge service. Every time I asked for something, our concierge guy, Cesar who had an office on the entrance of building 18, told us where to go, but never did a thing for us. Half the nights, they forgot turn down service. Spa is overpriced, $100 USD for a 25 min back massage. The menu in the room has no prices on it as I was told it changes by the day! Seriously?! You also get access to restaurants at El dorado, but they are adults only. We tried campai, Italian place at the casitas and jojos. Food at campai was the best.

This a a very low key all inclusive resort. The service is great with your own private butler. If you bring your kids you can take them to the kids area and enjoy the 21 and over resort. It's more spacious and has more beach space and lounging, with many more bars and restaurants.

Full…read moredisclosure - my friend brought me along on her annual family trip for free, so I cannot attest to the cost of anything, or the value spent for the money. What I can tell you is I would likely not spend my own money to stay here and would opt for another all-inclusive in the area instead. My party stayed for an entire week and I just thought it was okay. The property is beautiful, but it could also definitely use some TLC. We had a swim up room which was great. I have 0 complaints about it at all. The AC cooled easily, the beds were incredibly comfy and housekeeping was great. I really appreciated being able to choose my pillows and aromatherapy scents for turn down service at check in. I will tell you that outside of the water in front of building 40, all other pools had very warm water that was not enjoyable. It felt like stepping into a jacuzzi. Also, I fully understand the beach conditions are due to Mother Nature and out of their control, but you really cannot enjoy the beach here. The ocean was full of seaweed and so was the beach. There were workers out there trying to clean it up from sunrise to sunset to no avail. I didn't see anyone spending time on the beach the entire week we were there because it just wasn't a pleasant place to be. Also, the solicitors were ruthless the minute we set foot on the sand because they're allowed to sell their products there. I will say, I do believe this is on the resort to some extent because we went to Moroma on an excursion and their stretch of beach was 100x better. We actually could enjoy the day on the sand and getting into the ocean. If you're thinking of booking a stay here because you're envisioning spending your days relaxing on the beach, DO NOT choose this resort. I also have to say the food was just okay. None of the restaurants really stood out to me except the Italian one! By the end of the week, I was tired of eating at all of them except for that one. I do think all of the staff was incredible. They were friendly and took great care of us, especially our butlers. Overall, 3 stars for an okay experience. I had a good trip, but I personally wouldn't return on my own dime.

Our "neighbor" Phil got so black out drunk that he assaulted my wife, his wife, and myself. Phil banged on our door telling my wife "she's a woman, clean up the shit outside". The "outside" mess was room service trays house keeping had left outside. I attempted to talk to Phil outside in my robe, one handed covering myself, to let him know that we did not leave the items there. Phil proceeded to push me with both hands, then punch me in the face twice, my wife once, and his wife consistently. At this point I went inside to get dressed and let security know what happened. It took multiple phone calls and alerts to the butler office to finally get security to our room. In the meantime Phil continued to break and throw dish-ware all over or communal stairs while beating his wife in real time. During this time he continued to punch our mutual wall and break more stuff in the room. After this security finally put him back in his room. We were told since Phil had his room longer than us, it was unlikely he would be removed. It took me threatening to call the local police for them to evict him. ELIZABETH assistant manger at the time came to our situation and assured us we would be taken care of. At this point there was well over a dozen staff and a dozen of our casita mates watching the situation. Incredibly embarrassing. My wife and I decided to not address it until our pre-check out as Elizabeth had assured us we'd be taken care of. Once we arrived in Casitas lounge to do our pre-check out: Sergio had said he'd heard all about our assault and would have the manager there for us, and asked us to get a drink and come back for her. We arrived 15 minutes later to speak with ELIZABETH who immediately LAUGHED in our faces. She said "we already kicked him out, what else do you want?" I explained to her we only wanted that day of the event off our reservation and we would pay for our spa and premium dinner and the entirety of our stay besides that. ELIZABETH reiterated that Lomas policy is to NEVER refund guest and we'd have to reach out to customer service. When I asked for their information she said she didn't have it, and finally relented to writing it on the backside on another guests information. Not realizing that she gave us their information. Elizabeth further told me she "will not" let me speak to the GM, and to "figure it out through email." I've traveled extensively internationally in the military and as a civilian and hand NEVER been treated with such contempt as ELIZABETH showed us. I would've received better customer service at a motel 6.

We had a wonderful time at this resort! I loved every single minute we were here!…read more Beautiful grounds and a wonderful place on earth to be. As long as you are behind the gates that is.... Outside of the gates is a whole different story. It's pretty intense out there with the police being fully militarized. They have machine guns mounted to trucks they stand on and ride around just for the presence, there are tons of people wanting to take advantage of dumb Americans at every turn. Watch yourself if you travel alone in Cozumel. It's designed solely to attract tourists. That draws out some colorful personalities in my experience. Traveled with ease from the oh so lovely Cancun International Airport. Interesting spot to say the least. We were warned not to communicate or accept anything from anyone except our driver. We arrive to the hotel really excited, somewhat cautious, and ready to have some fun. We were greeted at the front door and we handled a little paperwork, and then we were taken to our room by a wonderfully helpful chap. He showed us around the room, gave us a quick run down of the grounds, described the amenities, food situation, and some other pleasantries. He talked about the dining situation and gave us a map tour so we're would know how to navigate the grounds. They have a cool locker system in each room. The service folks just leave your anything in the locker and you don't have to interact with them at all. They just let you know it is there. Nice feature. The grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous! It is so well kept, the attention to every detail goes so far beyond a normal resort. They comb the beach every morning. I kid you not. They seriously rake the entire shoreline before dawn. They also run a tractor to clear the seaweed from the beach. Insane dedication to making your stay great. The restaurant situation is so fucking rad. They have just about any food you might want covered between the what seemed like a dozen restaurants at the resort. I ate and ate and ate and ate.... I ate between meals, I ate between those meal and snack times. We had so much food!! Every dinner was 5-8 courses. I'm positive I could stay right here forever and never leave. Food heaven!! Spa is great too! It's a lovely relaxing oasis of self care. That's another review, but it's great. Don't take my word for it. Go for yourself! Cold plunges are good for the soul! They have shows every night in the theater and there was some sort of event being held every night in the common area. Some were private, others public. They construct stages, eating areas, weddings, happy hours with bands, and even corporate conferences. It's pretty wild the amount to building and tearing things down the do here. We rented a cabana bed one day and at the end of the day the built and transformed the beach into an elaborate engagement spot with candles everywhere, flowers, and a table for two. Very nice touch! All in all a fantastic experience. My only gripe was that the room smelled of mildew and/or too music moisture. C said something about it when we got there but it wasn't that noticeable to me. When I got home and unpacked my suitcase is when it hit me. There were clothes that I did not wear, just sat in the drawers and repacked, they all had to be washed as they smelled terrible after being packed and transported back home. I would come back monthly if possible. Nice place. '26 - 74

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Secrets Maroma Beach…read more We checked into Secrets Maroma Beach on Sunday with very high expectations, especially considering the reputation of the resort and the premium price we paid. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing. From the moment we entered our first room, there was a very strong smell of humidity and sewage. We were unable to sleep comfortably, and during the night we could hear what sounded like water leaking above the ceiling. We reported the odor and humidity on Monday morning, but the problem continued. Then, on Tuesday night at approximately 1:35 a.m., a significant amount of water began leaking from the ceiling. We immediately reported it. We were asked whether we wanted to change rooms, which we found surprising considering the condition of the room. At that point, moving us should have been an immediate necessity, not simply an option. We were moved in the middle of the night to another room. After using the toilet, we discovered that there was no running water to flush it. We had to spend the rest of the night with human waste sitting in the toilet and without running water to properly wash our hands. It gave us the impression that this room may not have been ready or should not have been part of the available room inventory. The next morning, we encountered even more problems. Access to the building was difficult, and when we attempted to shower, we discovered that the shower drain was completely clogged. The water would not drain properly, creating another very unpleasant and unhygienic situation. The water flow from the faucets was also not functioning normally. We reported the entire situation to the front desk and were told that we would once again have to move to another room. After dealing with sewage odors, humidity, a major ceiling leak at 1:35 a.m., no running water, an unusable toilet, a clogged shower, and the stress and inconvenience of repeatedly packing and changing rooms during our vacation, the only compensation offered to us was a beach bed. That response was extremely disappointing. We paid considerably more to stay at Secrets Maroma because we expected a higher level of accommodations, maintenance, service, and guest care. When a guest experiences this many serious problems, simply saying "we're sorry" and offering a beach bed does not adequately address the disruption and stress caused. A vacation at a resort of this level should not involve repeatedly changing rooms because of serious maintenance and sanitation issues. Based on our experience and, especially, the way our concerns have been handled, we cannot recommend Secrets Maroma Beach and we do not plan to return. We expected much better from a resort with the reputation and price point of Secrets Maroma Beach

Another amazing anniversary trip at El Dorado Casitas!…read more We started our stay in an Emerald Suite at Casitas and then joined friends in a Presidential Suite at Royale. As always, the people made the trip. A huge thank you to our favorite butlers, Gaby (who honestly feels like family at this point), Alfredo, and Hugo. We also had some new favorites this trip: Jorge, Ximena, Eddie, Monty, and Luna. Every one of them went above and beyond and helped make our anniversary extra special. Ramon and Alberto at the pool completely spoiled us. Drinks magically appeared before we realized we needed one, food was always available if we wanted it, and we never had to hunt down a towel. They made relaxing way too easy! We also had fantastic service in the restaurants from Alex, Norma, and Wilbert. Wilbert especially has a special place in my heart. If you've met him, you know exactly what I mean. One of the highlights of our trip was watching sea turtles come up on the beach to lay their eggs. Such an incredible experience. If you're staying there during turtle season, bring a red-light flashlight or use a red-light app on your phone. It's absolutely worth it. After 37 years of marriage, hubby and I have learned that it's the people who make the memories, and this resort has some of the very best. Thank you all for another trip we'll never forget.

The furniture is outdated, the plunge pool doesn't hold water. The kitchen was not equipped with basic items. There was one knife for cutting large items, no steak knives, no cutting board, no tupperware or containers for storage. The transportation around the property is clunky, Disneyland type trams. Give yourself an extra 25 minutes to go anywhere. Some of the resturants are ok, however Salum is your best option. It's appears to be the newest. If going to Vidanta, stay in the Vidanta proprty.

Our room was spacious and even had a small pool plunge on our deck. We ordered room service a lot which was convenient in between meals. The resort is huge. Lots of walking. The staff were so so nice and accommodating. Super clean and so many wild animals and plants call it home, I can see why! The Coatis are the cutest and the iguana / lizards are huge and just hang out by the pool sunbathing. They had a water park on site, a huge PGA golf course, and also cirque's de soleil - "Joya" - the only one on the east coast of Mexico. The show was outstanding and highly recommended doing the dinner before the show! There are shuttles from place to place, but there is still a lot of walking. My favorite was the flamingos, and crocodile tour! The easiest way to navigate around is the Vidanta app. It was fun checking everyday to see the daily activities and where to eat (I also planned ahead before the trip). They had a lot of evening festivities and loved getting dressed up and having all the local food. All the pools have a bar which was so convenient. The main pool was near the beach and easy access to the water! They have a grocery mart with the best crepes, along with a gift shop and some snacks and food and alcohol. We went during Halloween week and they had everything set up for Halloween and also Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It was gorgeous with the decorations. This resort is for time-share holders only! They had a lot of security to get in and out which made us feel safe that no one was wondering around. Your room key is a wristband which was good because we never lost our room key! Really have to give it up for the staff. Everyone was awesome & great!! Made a great memorable trip!!

The pools are great and the lazy river was a ton of fun for the kids. There are so many options of things to do both inside and outside of the resort. One of my favorite things is that activities just kept coming to us! There's water Zumba and a water fitness class. There's a fun competitive sport in the pool every single day. They set up a really cool obstacle course in the pool for kids. We had a dance party, a foam party, and most importantly for the adults - a swim up bar with bar tenders that made excellent margaritas, daquiris, pina coladas and caipirihnas. The staff here were super friendly and that goes for every part of the hotel. The service at the restaurants. the towel person, the entertainment. Everyone was friendly and attentive to our kids and to the adults in our party. The only negative I would say is the food. But honestly, Ive never had good food at an all inclusive resort so thats just something that is par for the course. There's a grill where you can request freshly grilled meats and fish, and if you stick to that, you'll be good. Otherwise, it was all subpar food. I didnt take a star away because I dont expect food to be good at a resort, and this is based on my experience. how relaxing it felt, how much fun the kids had. the cleanliness of the beach and pool and resort in general. the fun and entertainment, and of course, the well made and delicious drinks. A 5 star experience all around. We will definitely be back!

My concern is not with the hotel itself, but with how IHG and Iberostar handled my request. I contacted IHG and Iberostar in good faith to resolve a pricing issue and was hoping for reasonable customer service. Instead, I was met with inflexible policies and no willingness to work toward a fair solution. I expected IHG to value customer loyalty and make a genuine effort to resolve the situation. I am simply requesting one of two reasonable resolutions: * Honor the rate that was available so I can keep my reservation, or * Allow me to cancel my reservation without penalty so I can rebook at the lower available rate. Neither option is unreasonable, yet I was told neither could be accommodated. This experience has left me frustrated and disappointed with IHG's commitment to customer satisfaction. I hope IHG reviews this matter and empowers its customer service team to resolve situations like this fairly. I would appreciate a response from someone with the authority to honor the lower rate or waive the cancellation penalty so I can rebook. Doing so would restore my confidence in IHG and demonstrate that the company stands behind its commitment to customer service.

My fiancé and I met up with his family at Iberostar Waves Paraiso on Christmas day of 2023. The service is impeccable, it is very clean no matter where you look. The fragrance they use to scent the lobbies and hallways really put you in a relaxing mode. The pools are large, clean and clear of debris. The beach is also clean and so relaxing to watch either the sunset or the sunrise. The property has many restaurants with different cuisines, a shopping area, a pristine gym (you have to pay extra to rent equipment though like tennis and pickleball rackets; and pay extra for certain classes), and there are other resort buildings that you can access as well. The staff are very friendly, polite and will ensure you get the best service possible. They have a huge buffet and room service is available 24 hours a day. There are activities planned all day and during the night as well. Thank you for the hospitality Iberostar!

All of this was included with my day pass while on the island during a Carnival Cruise. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find bottles of water- which I expected to happily overpay for. You see, I'm a five star girl and the cranberry juice and ice are just different than I'm used to-not bad- just different. What I mean: The juices aren't Ocean Spray, the coke isn't Coca Cola Classic. It happens. The vodka was Sky or Smirnoff and I couldn't choke it down. I suggest Fire Ball shots and call it a day. There were many fish in the water, a swim up pool bar, and fresh towels if you show your ID. There are bottles of water at the lobby store. Most of the hotel is outdoors like many Iberostar hotels around the world so the lobby store A/C is a nice reprieve.

El Dorado Maroma lives up to all of the wonderful pictures you can find online. Just like the other Karisma resorts it is stunning! Definitely happy we booked and had a chance to stay at another great luxury gourmet inclusive. I'm giving this resort 5 stars as follows: *Beach - the beach is beautiful. Water is clear and there wasn't a lot of seaweed nor was it rocky like other resorts in riviera maya. There's even a little private island not too far off shore that you can kayak or swim up to. Plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas available. *Pool - Clean and well maintained. We spent a lot of time at the smaller pool with swim up Bar 24. The bartender Antonio was so friendly and made a cocktail that he called "Antonio's Especial" that my husband enjoyed. If you want to take a break from swimming there's a vendor with various ceramic items you can paint. At night you can purchase cigars and enjoy the live entertainment. The main pool has fun activities during the day and a few cabanas and lounge chairs. *Staff - Lovely staff. Very friendly and courteous. *Food - It's a Gourmet Inclusive and the food met our expectations. Consistent with the other Karisma resorts. My favorite dinner was at Mio Italian Restaurant. So, just make sure you book El Dorado Maroma!
