On the road to Ocean Shores and found this local burger joint on the way. Place has burgers, AND a variety of ice cream. Does has a couple parking spots in the front but there is street parking. They do have a restroom, just ask for the key. There's also picnic tables on the patio and a thing to repair your bike. We ordered a couple of burgers, fries and corn dogs. Also a cup of swirl ice cream. Burgers were good and it tastes like they put their own type of burger sauce on it. It's pretty good. It is onion heavy, just in case you're not an onion fan. Whole onion layer just placed under the burger.. fries are decent and corn dogs do the job. read more

Today being national the ice cream day I went there to get a ice cream milkshake and I ended up getting the Double Dekker which is supposed to be like a signature shake After ordering my shake that and the guys are making it and then comes to the window saying that they are out of hot fudge which makes the signature shake special and they asked if I wanted a chocolate sauce instead of hot fudge which I replied no I'll just take some extra caramel. ok, parking a little tricky on the main street when busy, but this is what USA local burger places are all about, local business for many years including when my wife worked there in the late 60's with some of her friends back in high school, classic old fashion taste like back then, and great to see great service & pleasant greeting from the young workers of today. I had the deluxe hamburger with everything and the taste was like stepping back into the 70's that I grew up as a teen. I remember even younger our family would stop there when close to a meal time after or before spending the day at Lake Sylvia. It's pretty pricey but the dole whip is always good for a dairy free option. The fries are tasty and I've heard good things about the burger but I've never had it. They offer a kids size cone and it's a pretty good size. If there are 2 or more cars there it may take awhile . Best to come here if youre not in a rush. read more

This place was pretty good! It's a small drive in with a parking lot. You order outside and pick up at the window. I arrived on a busy Friday night and there were quite a few people waiting. However, they are pretty quick so it took about 12 minutes for them to make my food while I waited in my car. Let's start with the fries.. they were very crispy which I LOVED. I don't like soggy fries... they were salted perfectly. I ordered a large which was probably too much so I didn't finish. The burger was great. The appearance is a little sloppy which I really like since it's a drive in! I think it added to the taste of the burger The special sauce was a little bit much so next time I'll probably my ask for light sauce. The bun was fresh and the patty was flavored well. They've got it nailed even down to the paper diner hats. My wife and I stopped by for milkshakes and enjoyed friendly, bubbly conversation with the owner, Ginger. The peanut butter milkshakes are made with real peanut butter and the blackberry milkshakes are made with real blackberries. If you don't know the difference between a milkshake flavored with syrup or a milkshake prepared with actual added items, you betta find out! Superb! We will definitely be back! My review may be a little bias. My eldest brother remodeled the place and reopened it. Due to poor health the business was taken over by someone that loved the place as much as he did. In July the family gathered in Montesano to say goodbye to that brother. After his memorial we gathered outside of Gene's with no fan-fair and all ordered burgers. The Impossible burger. Cones, Ice cream and the works. We sat outside and ate this amazing food and talked about growing up in this wonderful place. How Gene's was our go-to spot after a day at the lake or for just any old reason. I urge everyone. Go to Genes and get a great burger and great service from the team. But take in the nostalgia of the small town burger stand. By the way, it was impossible. I could not finish it. Great Job! read more

Two words: Dole Whip! I had the most delicious frozen dessert I've ever had in my life. It was so good I snarfed it down before I could take a photo, so I bootlegged their photo from FB to post it here. This iconic restaurant was brought back from the dead by Raymond and I appreciated the plaque honoring him on the building. My mother is from Montesano and two of her sisters worked here in high school, one of them meeting her husband here as he was always hungry when she was working. We literally called him "Uncle Hungry", I had no idea his name was Eugene. I digress, the service is friendly, they had no qualms for making odd menu requests. Our family had the double deluxe cheeseburger, a cheeseburger without the bun, grilled cheese, and we shared a regular order of tater tots. The tots were enough for three of us, the large would have been way too much, and they were perfectly crunchy, no grease. The burgers tasted fresh and the double was huge! My daughters grilled cheese was made on a hamburger bun so if you've got a really picky little one be forewarned- it looks different. But, the real star is the Pineapple and Strawberry swirled Dole Whip. I live 2 hours away, and I'll be back soon. read more

I spent 35 dollars on two cheeseburgers a chicken sandwich, large fries, picklechips, and two ice creams. The ice cream was the only edible thing. The cheeseburgers were preformed tasteless patties from a box. The chicken sandwich was two tenders on a bun, not even a breast. They put the fries at the bottom of the bag crushing them, but they were soggy and greasy anyway. They give you ten small tasteless pickle chips for $4.50. Even the fry sauce was runny and had little taste but mayo. Dont waste your money. read more
