Stopped on the way to Ocean Shore and prices are similar to regular sushi restaurants in large town. I need to give the guy at the dog park a hug for telling me about Maxi!! We came in last night for just a couple sushi rolls and gyoza. They were SO GOOD! The rolls were huge and had big portions of the ingredients. And the gyoza was so flavorful and cooked just right. Im from seattle/tacoma area and am a bit of a sushi snob and since moving to the harbor in Jan 2023 I have missed having good sushi on every block. The 2 places I tried were not good. And my goto teriyaki spot has new owners and its not good now. So I am so excited to find Maxi! I look forward to trying many many more things here and will be telling everyone how good they are! Apparently they normally take a lunch break from 3-4pm which was not super well advertised besides on the door. Very nice man was working here alone and worked through his lunch break to serve us. This is one of my very favorite places to eat. I love that they get it delivered. I love the taste of everything I've yet to find anything I didn't like. The service is excellent. I finally went in to eat. The owner or the manager that was running the place was very sweet and very attentive to those who were eating in. Great Restaurant if you love Asian Food. It has something for everyone and the food was fresh and good and freshly cooked. Plenty of space for dinner group of 8. Our first time there but definitely not the last. If you are in a time crunch then you might want to order take out because as I think they have orders ready as they get them. After several days camping out, we were going to eat here on our way back home. We went a little out of the way since I love trying to new thing - especially hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Disappointed to find that the place was closed at 12:30PM despite the signs on the door that it should already have been open. When I called, they just said they would not take orders until 1PM with no apology or explanation. It was just a bummer since we were hungry after days of hiking/camping AND we were trying to get home to unpack and clean asap. :( We come by Aberdeen a couple of times every year, so we will try it again someday and will update if it's really as good as people are saying it is. read more

I was a little skeptical that I could find a pretty delicious Sushi restaurant in a smaller town like Aberdeen. I think this impression came when I quickly searched on Yelp for sushi or teriyaki chicken restaurant. All the ones in town were like 2-3.5 stars. Then I searched for Chinese restaurants and the same results. After searching a bit longer, I found this place that was a little out of the way from Aberdeen. But dang, 5 stars? I was again really skeptical. How could a place have such high reviews? Then I got there, this is the cutest mom and pop restaurant. The people working here were so kind. The man who took my order and accepted my payment was sooo nice. He asked me how my day was going. He seemed genuine when he asked. It kind of caught me off guard. When I told him that I had a long day, he offered me this cookie with no charge just bc I had a long day. How nice. The woman working in the kitchen packed up our food and smiled. In the 5 min of being there, I had the warmest customer service experience. The food was excellent too. I would say it is more of a Korean/Chinese fusion. The sushi was sooo good. I think I got the most popular roll (can't remember the name) and the salmon on top was so delicious. The teriyaki chicken was good and we also god a mushroom chicken dish. All dishes had an ample amount of vegetables and protein. This place has great customer service and delicious food! read more

If you're looking for teriyaki on the South Side, Maxi is your place. The portions were generous with the combo. It included a simple green salad with a tangy (mustard based?) dressing, steamed rice, veggie tempura, gyoza and teriyaki chicken. As of this review, there is no indoor dining. You can phone-in your order or order inside at the counter from the friendly staff. When your order is ready they will bring it out to your car. My wait was going to be about 20 minutes so I took a quick walk along the Chehalis River which is directly behind the restaurant. I was lucky to catch a break from the rain :-) They also have sushi, bulgogi along with some Chinese options. A good variety all under one roof. read more

A wonderful surprise in a location we did not expect! The family that runs this hole in the wall is lovely. We got a sushi roll, beef bulgogi, tofu soup, and kimchi. The kimchi was so good that we went back in (we did take out) to buy more for the road. The owner mentioned it was spicier than usual because they got the pepper from Korea this batch, but it was exactly right in my opinion - tangy, but not astringent; spicy, but not eye watering. The sushi rolls were pretty big and very reasonable for the price. The bulgogi and soup were both very generous with the meat and the tofu/shellfish, respectively. The flavors in everything were rich and complex. Would definitely visit again when I'm on the coast! read more

Stopped here on a whim and really wasn't expecting much for asian food in a small town. However, I was incredibly surprised how delicious the Korean tofu soup and kimchi was. The tofu in the soup was sooooo silky smooth and the soup had so much seafood and veggies inside! The flavor of the soup was also very good and mildly spicy. However, the kimchi was truly the star of the show for me. It was the perfect amount of spicy and sour. Honestly, it was better than a lot of the kimchi I've tried in LA. I asked the owner about it, and he said his wife hand-makes the kimchi! No wonder why it hits the spot! The owners were also just such nice and friendly people. Attention save your money don't eat here. A friend and I decided to try this place out, big mistake. Horrible cold food, the teriyaki chicken had no taste of teriyaki, just some type of goo on it. The sweet and sour chicken didn't have sweet and sour, but a spicy sauce instead. The salad, had so much dressing on it, I'm surprised that it didn't float off the plate, the rice was hard and cold.
