I purchased a top‑of‑the‑line Speed Queen dryer from SK Lavery--nearly a $2,000 appliance--and it…read morearrived defective from day one. The installer immediately noted the loud banging noise. The dryer also scorched an expensive comforter and now requires multiple cycles just to dry a normal load. I contacted SK Lavery several times and spoke with Tiffany. While she did schedule a service call (for a brand‑new machine), she made it clear that I was expected to deal with Speed Queen directly. SK Lavery delivered a defective product yet refused to take ownership or provide real support. This is not the SK Lavery I once trusted. They may sell high‑end appliances, but they do not stand behind them. Once they have your money, you're on your own. This situation could have been handled easily if SK Lavery had taken responsibility instead of shifting the burden onto the customer. Until they change course, I strongly recommend staying away--there are plenty of reputable high‑end appliance dealers who still value accountability and customer service.

I visited the Old Saybrook location specifically looking for Viking appliances, only to find out…read morethey no longer carry them. I then inquired about Bosch appliances and was shown a few options. While taking a photo of a range to send to my husband, the sales manager abruptly knocked the phone out of my hand and told me photos were not allowed. I was completely shocked--especially after calmly explaining that I was simply sharing it with my spouse. The manager, who appeared to be older, was surprisingly aggressive and confrontational. I was left wondering how a company could justify employing someone who treats potential customers this way. I am currently shopping for a full suite of appliances--including a double oven, refrigerator, two dishwashers (for the main kitchen and butler's pantry), and a cooktop--so this could have been a significant sale. Frankly, I'm relieved this happened before making any purchases. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to deal with this store if any issues arose after a sale.

Deans was unable to tell the difference between a repair and buildup. I've also contacted Travis Industries the maker of the stove. To let them know about the experience I had with Dean's stove and spa. No customer should have to go through predatory selling tactics that deans uses. People are Travis Industries picked up the phone and at least took the time to listen. They asked for an e-mail and pictures and all of those have been sent off. Time will tell to see if anything happens. Lopi I did get back to me. So that's good. I've been not been waiting for over a week for my refund. These guys are crooks. Worst customer service experience. We bought a wood stove through them and…read morepaid for them to install it. We found out a year later they never pulled the permit. We couldnt seem to control the burn rate in the stove and were going through wood very fast. Turns out they never attached the chimney pipe to the back of the stove. When we called them on it they just claimed it wasn't their fault. The stove ended up cracking due to being overfired because we couldnt control the air intake. They offered zero assistance and we are out thousands of dollars. Were honestly probably very fortunate our house didn't burn down. Stay away from this place.

These people have written down on our invoices: "This family is nuts, do not sell to them, they leave bad reviews on yelp." Here is a very bad review. There is absolutely no excuse, regardless of tragedy, for writing a note about a customer like that and then, sending them a copy of the note attached to a service order. Yup.. You heard write... They sold to us, and then sent us a note attached to the receipt saying we are crazy A**holes. This company is repugnant and run by children. What kind of company releases their private notes about customers publicly? There is absolutely no excuse. Go to Lowes. It is cheaper and the people working there will not insult you.

This was a great Portland institution. They were so good that they continued to service appliances…read morepurchased by the former owners of the house with no fuss. Today, the place is such a travesty it borders on fraud. 4 years ago we purchased their top of the line kitchen aid induction oven on their recommendation. It has worked strangely from the beginning, turning off for seemingly no reason at times. Then last weekend, the stove top stopped working altogether. This stove top has a glass top sealed over a circuit board. Nevertheless, Portland electric claims there must have been a gallon or more spilled because ... and this is key... they have never seen this happen before. The repair is over 1000$, 65% the cost of a new oven that is electric. They talked us into buying induction and are now saying that a 1000 repair required in year 4 of its life is our fault. So the extra money you pay for appliances here now gets you worse service than the discounted big box stores. The individuals are also quite rude. If you are a woman, expect the folks at Portland Electric to talk over you when you call and essentially ignore you. This store is not going to stay opened much longer. The people who work there have literally said they do not care about losing us as customers point blank. That is who you are dealing with.
