Unfortunately they were out of several menu items.. coffees and teas... so we could not get our first choices. We ordered french toast, a roast beef sandwich, a chicken sandwich and a mushroom quiche. The French toast was delicious. The chicken salad sandwich was good. The roast beef was... almost non existent. There were 2 sad slices of meat on a croissant. The quiche was very oily. I had shared that along with their steak & eggs where you get a beautifully seasoned steak cooked how you like; with a glorious array of potatoes, eggs, a nice little salad, some gorgeous toast, and some beautifully cooked sun-dried tomatoes hiding sneakily underneath the steak. The flavors all compliment each other very nicely, like a team that works really well together. Considering we were having brunch there, we also had to get the Turkish coffee. My family ordered the Ethiopian dish, corn beef sandwich, bacon and organic egg, and grass fed steak with organic eggs. The grass fed steak had too much vinaigrette, and soaked the marbled toast at the bottom, which overwhelmed the overall flavor of the dish. The steak was well cooked though, and flavorful. A hidden gem in Palos! I found this cafe while looking for a new place to have an afternoon lunch. When I walked in, wow!!! That's what I thought! Just wow. We chose a nice seating by the window in comfy chairs to look over the menu. We looked at the wide assortment of coffee available and teas and a menu that was curated with wholesome, organic, grass fed and wild caught meat and fish. I chose the broccoli quiche with pour over coffee and zip chose grass fed meat and organic eggs with roasted potatoes with a pumpkin chai latte. Our waitress was very helpful and really sweet. She delivered our meals, made my pour over coffee and wished us an enjoyable meal. Everything was EXCELLENT! The quiche, perfectly cooked melted away at first bite and the steak, medium well was very well cooked and juicy. Both coffees were also excellent!! We sent the food back to be warmed up and then they told us the grill was taking too long and the microwave was broken. We barely ate anything and they wouldn't discount the $30 per person brunch. One of my favorite soups is the homemade spinach soup and I love the open face sandwiches with the fresh greens salad on the plate. They accommodate for gluten and dairy free upon request.
