Since they moved to their new location they are just a short walk from work. I have not ordered their fresh meats, but would. They are more expensive than the big grocery stores which makes sense, you get a better cut of meat - it's in their name - PRIME is not select or choice and you get what you pay for. So, now what have I had? Oh, their take away sandwiches, veggies and salads make for a fantastic lunch! Boar's Head and the little roll are so good. The roll is "little" in the it is not long, but I guarantee it is just as much bread as a longer roll from those "subway" or "jimmy's". It is a square ciabatta roll topped with VERY generous portions of delicious meat. So much meat that I usually end up not eating all the bread. I am a fan! So good, very accommodating owners and employees. You get what you pay for, if you are cheap and want super processed crap, go else where. If you like yourself, treat yourself! read more

This guy literally could care less. If you don't have the right bread don't give me a sandwich on rye without asking. Do I have to check my sandwich before I leave the store? Last time it was frozen so if you have a bread issue you should probably fix it. I have tried too many times to be disappointed and overcharged. read more

I went here today for one of my favorite salads. I was the only customer in the store. After watching the owner clearing the crud off the counters I asked him to please put on gloves which were right in front of him. He gave me such a disgusted look and asked me "what are you getting" what does that matter!! I told him Broccoli salad and he shook his head and proceeded to get coleslaw, I had to intervene again which made him even more mad! Their deli is fantastic for a quick bite for lunch. They stock all Boar's Head products and have a small, curated menu of about 8 sandwiches to pick from. $7.99 each, or $8.99 to make it a meal with potato salad and a can of pop. Just grab a number (paper ticket dispenser) and head to the right side of the meat case to place your order. Great food at a great price. Can't beat it! read more

I just tried this place for the first time the other day & I bought the chicken pot pie. It was the best I ever had, besides my own (which takes 3 hours just to make the crust alone!) I could tell theirs is definitely homemade, using high quality ingredients, like real butter! I also tried the meatloaf with gravy & it was very good, too! I'm going to try the pies next. I stopped in on a recent Sat. around 4:30. They close at 5:00 and the meat case was mostly empty. I ask which meats are "prime"; given their name. The response was that they don't have Prime. According to the clerk, they have the top third of choice...what ever that is. So I get 2 strip steaks, a small pot roast and a pound of bacon and the bill is $53. They did cut the steaks to order and the beef was good (as was the bacon), but for the price, I think I may not be going back. read more

Ok i do agree that the prices are a little high but the food is amazing! The stuffed chicken breasts and garlic roasted potatoes are a family favorite. I really don't mind paying a little more (when i can) for excellent quality. They also have always been sooo over the top nice every visit! I also have never been charged twice in all my visits. I have driven by Prime Choice and stopped there yesterday after buying charcoal. We were having another couple over for dinner and I decided to pick up filets. Service was quick and friendly and they cut my steaks to order. Grilled them up and man they were GREAT. I am serious about steak and had dinner with my wife at Bavet's downtown and the steaks I bought at Prime Choice were every bit as good. I originally came in because of their sign that promoted their Rueben sandwich....which was not exactly a traditional Rueben, but was very good! While talking with the man who helped me (possibly the owner), he had the biggest smile on his face as he told me about a "blackened turkey panini" that isn't even on the menu. And I told him that I'd come back and try it some time soon. Today is the day that I went back and tried that panini (And he had the same huge smile on his face when I ordered it). That thing was Awesome, honestly one of the, if not The, best sandwich I have ever had! It was so delicious that I decided to write this review! It's $10 if you get a combo which is a small container of potato salad and a drink. Well worth it, definitely will come and get it more in the future. read more

I love this shop. They have the best meat in the area. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and their meat is superior. I buy their ribs, pork and beef roasts. The staff is friendly, answers questions about the products and I have never been overcharged in all of my years going there. Their prices are higher than Jewel (lower than Whole Foods) but I have had meat from Jewel that was so tough/riddled with gristle that I had to throw it out. read more

I pictured/imagined this place to be a REAL butcher shop. Not. There is obviously no fresh meat hanging in the cooler because when I asked for a particular cut of meat I was told they do not have it. Boars Head is taking over! Corned Beef - Boars Head, Bacon - Boars Head, Cheese - Boars Head!!! Everywhere you go that has a deli is now carrying this Canadian product. What is going to happen to our own local purveyors? I wanted fresh bacon and was told they have Boars Head. I thought, okay that is fine. Prepackaged and $7.99 a pound!!! We went to cook it this morning and it was pretty much all fat. Ran out to a local store and got Oscar Mayer at $3.99 a pound and it was much better and at today's sale price much cheaper. I don't think I will make a trip here anytime soon! read more

This place is great! The salads are mostly old family recipes and their attention to detail cannot be matched. If you're looking for cheap prices, this isn't for you. But if you're looking for a higher quality of meat, deli etc - this is for you. You'll be back for sure! read more

Go to Jack and Pats on Ridgeland and you will see the difference. A much better meat shop with better quality and prices. No prepared foods, but if you buy prepared foods from Prime Choice you have to look at who is preparing these. From comments here it looks like they are made outside the store and brought in. read more

I feel like some of these comments were made by people that are going to a different store than I have been going to. The people that work there are always friendly and helpful and if they don't have something, they are willing to order it with no problems. They are about as close to a gourmet butcher as we have here in the vast wasteland of the south side. I don't buy food there every day (although their luncheon sandwiches are great) but when I do, I am always satisfied with their product and get rave reviews from my family and friends. I am certain that there are many more people that have had great experiences there than bad........please speak up and fix this misconception !! read more
