I am new to NYC and having my laundry sent out, but based on the one experience I've had I would definitely recommend Morris Cleaners. Their services could be better communicated online/via their employees, and pickup ran a bit late for me. Given that the owner was very responsive and tried to accommodate me during drop off this doesn't bother me though. My experience with them was solid, and I intend to go back! Some caveats to take note of if you've never used their services before: you can schedule pickup and drop off online, but there's no guarantee you will get serviced. Whether or not you do really seems to depend on proximity. Same day pickup/drop off doesn't actually seem to be something they provide despite what their site (and employees) might say. I had asked the owner when my laundry would come back if it got picked up in the morning, and was told that it would still come back in 24 hours. I called in yesterday evening to get some clarification on their services and found myself talking to the owner. He was clear with me that they only recently started taking wash and fold orders again, and were trying to limit the orders they take to manage how backed up they can get. Luckily I live close enough to get serviced, and we arranged for pick up that same evening. He told me to expect someone to come by within 1-2 hours, and someone dropped by around 2.5 hours later. They came up to my unit and took my bagged up clothing. About 24 hours later everything came back clean and folded! The drop off was more timely than the pickup. The owner was very communicative during both the pick up and drop off, and he accommodated me by giving me a call when the driver was nearby (I had explained that I needed to step out but would be close by and getting a call would help). I was able to pay by card by giving the owner my card info over the phone. The detergent they use is heavily scented. While I do appreciate a fresh scent, it is a bit intense. The smell of the detergent has been wafting through my apartment ever since it was dropped off. Although I would not say I have sensitive skin, with how strong the scent is I will be keeping an eye on my skin to see if it's irritated. I assume this is not something Morris Cleaners actually has control over, since they are ultimately sending the laundry out as well (as explained to me by the owner). I was impressed by how neatly folded and tightly bagged everything was. My bags were also individually pinned with papers to show the weight/price per bag. I had taken count of how many items I sent out and I'm happy to report nothing was missing. My biggest concern was items getting lost in the shuffle, since this seems to be a common thing that can go wrong among businesses that provide wash and fold services. read more

I did a thorough search after moving into a new neighborhood and after trying 2 dry cleaners closer to my new home. Morris showed consistently superior reviews and high marks for good value. I had one big question about special care for my go-to Lululemon dress shirts and the manager here answered my question; my shirts have come in pristine, pro-clean condition each and every time. I walk 20+ extra blocks and in winter take the bus past many cleaners with "good" ratings just to get the high value, consistent, high-result level of service I get at Morris Cleaners on 86th. read more

After disastrous experiences at other cleaners (ugh), I've been happy with Morris. Everything has come back great, except one top had straps that shrunk considerably. I brought it back to them and they altered it at no cost, completely replacing the straps. But also - they cared. Which meant a lot, because most cleaners don't seem to care. I used Morris Cleaners to dry clean a white dress that had a few stains. Morris offers free pick up and delivery which made everything super easy for me. It's all very chill. You don't get a ticket or anything, they just pick it up and then you can either call to pay over the phone or pay cash upon delivery. I don't often need dry cleaning services, but I will definitely use Morris Cleaners when I do and recommend them to friends! read more

I went to Morris cleaners recently with a dress that I had just received in the mail that had a small rip in it. I needed it the very next morning as I was flying out of state to attend a wedding. I had my wedding dress altered at Morris Cleaners after it became MANY sizes too big after a rapid weight loss just before my wedding (like to the point where family members thought the dress could not be salvaged). I was extremely disappointed when they quoted me about $300 and charged me $600 for the alterations, but I calmed down after they explained all the work that had to go into saving my dress. My dress has many layers to it, and it had to be taken in about 4 sizes. They also shortened the length (I'm a tiny human- 5'0"), adjusted the bust, added a bustle, and many other fixes. I didn't spend much on the dress itself, so I believe the money was 100% worth it to be able to wear my wedding dress on my wedding day! If I could give them a 10-star rating, I would. Morris is definitely the best dry cleaner on the upper east side, and probably in Manhattan. They consistenely surpass my expectations. Last week, about 3 days ahead of my daughter's wedding, I noticed my Tux a bit snug. I brought it to them in a panic and asked them to let out the jacket and pants a tad, which they did (amid being slammed with customer orders) and delivered the next day. The Tux fit perfectly! It is very clear when you come in and interact with Josh that he really cares about his customers and business. I came in on a Monday night requesting a dress be shortened by Wednesday (I had come on Saturday but the tailor wasn't in) and 3 pairs of brand new designer jeans to be shortened. I requested that the denim be shortened using the original hem as they had interesting hems. Everything was delivered to me on time and the dress was altered great. The jeans however were not shortened with the original hem, the tailor instead tried to "recreate" the hem. They look terrible and I am very disappointed in the results. I have another tailor that I have reviewed already that I will continue to use even though it is much farther from my apartment than Morris. read more

I've lived in NYC for 10 years. BEST Cleaners Period. Bill Belichick has this saying. "Do your job." So many cleaners I've worked with over the last 10 years fail to deliver on their basic service. Either they are late in delivery, the quality is spotty, they don't have things for pickup until too late. Morris Cleaners is the opposite. They simply run an really high quality cleaners. It sounds like a simple thing but it's not. They made my life incredibly easy and always had my shirts and suits done on time and at a high standard. Morris Cleaners is hands down the best dry cleaning service I have come into contact with ever. I was moving back to New York and shipped a luggage that encountered water damage leading to 30 items of my clothes being covered in mold upon its time to unpack. Josh kindly and patiently let me explain the situation, and then urgently encouraged me to send him the items (despite a snow storm) so he and his team could immediately go to work on them. After receiving the items, the outlook was bleak, but despite the damage Josh and his team completely revitalized the 30 items in less than a week! I am so appreciative and thankful for his custom service, kindness and hard work! Without his help I would have lost thousands of dollars in clothing. Thank you Josh and team! This was my first time using Morris Cleaners as I just moved to the area. I chose to come here based on the excellent Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I had a dressy jump suit with intricate beading to be dry cleaned. Not only did they remove all of the stains, but they also managed to protect the beading! I went in last minute to get a suit steamed for an interview and they did it in less than 20 minutes despite their other priorities. I really appreciate people like this who accommodate their customers the best they can at a below average cost. All of the workers were working so diligently and were so pleasant to speak to. I have lived in NYC for 8 yrs and there is no cleaner that comes close to the quality and customer service provided by Morris Cleaners. I wish I had found the business sooner! Not only is the quality of dry cleaning amazing (they got out some tough stains on my white silk blouse/other delicate clothing + the color of my clothes always comes back brighter and bolder), but the owner, Josh, is a stellar human being. He really cares for his customers and operates his business with high integrity. You can trust him with your most prized possessions. He remembers who you are and goes above and beyond. There are some reviews here that say the price is high, but as someone who has frequented various cleaners all around the city, I can say that it is comparable to the rest of the city. Even if you are to disagree with me and do think the prices are high, you really are paying for the quality and customer service. Ok, I felt a need to update this review because I had a recent experience which exposed their good management and the fact that the people here really strive their best to make things right. Long story short, the weather forecast said there would be a rainstorm on our wedding day, and I totally was not prepared for that. My ceremony dress, which I was going to wear for a photoshoot in the Conservatory Garden, was made of silk, extremely expensive, and would have been damaged by the rain before I even made it to the ceremony. Luckily I had a backup dress which could withstand the weather, but the problem was that it needed tailoring that needed to be done in THREE DAYS. Panic. I reached out to Morris to see if they could do the last minute tailoring, and the manager and tailor worked really hard to go through what needed to be done and agreed that they could do it by the end of the third day, with delivery to boot. While I was there, the manager looked at my records and asked if I had customer feedback since I stopped doing my dry cleaning there. I told him what happened with my skirt and blazer, and he asked me to talk to him in the future so they could fix any mistakes. I run a business myself, and can totally empathize with how hard it is to build a product or service that people love. The fact that they care so much about customers is rare and worth raving about. I still maintain my review about the quality of the dry cleaning, but hopefully that will improve and I will return as a happy customer. read more

I used them once when my go to, Sartorius, was closed, and they were fantastic. Great quality, and really nice people. Now I have another reason to say good things. Sartorius just closed, a wonderful place with a great owner, and another local dry cleaner Joseph sent letters to Sartorius customers, including me, stating that "Joseph Cleaners has taken over Sartorius Cleaners!!"
