Of course you can get your dental work done anywhere. However wouldn't it be nice to make sure that work actually needs to be done? Dr. Fundaminsky is my blessing! I had a horrible experience with another Dental before I met him. I had a terrible infection in my root canal, two cysts, and a piece of an old instrument, which was left there a year ago, which caused this infection. (I didn't know anything since I am not a doctor. I later learned it from Dr. Fundaminsky when I showed him my ex-rays.) When I came to another Dental Office, they made an ex-ray, saw all of this, and didn't even mention that I had all those issues. And instead of extracting this tooth, they offered me a re-treatment of this root canal without mentioning that it was pointless in my case. I said ok; they did re-treatment, took out my old filling from that infected canal, put in some medicine, and said that I have to wait for two weeks for this medicine to help my infection. And that's when the hell started. I've never been in so much pain in my life before! Not only did the medicine not help cure my infection, but also caused severe swelling and unbearable pain. My whole jaw was in pain. I wasn't able to speak or eat at all. They prescribed me some painkillers that didn't help! Thank God I have a cousin who is a dentist, living abroad. I showed her my ex-rays and told her everything that they did. She was shocked by their treatment plan. 'There is no point in treating it, this tooth cannot be saved, and you urgently need to find another reliable doctor who can operate to remove this tooth. It is a complex operation, so find a trustworthy doctor. That's when I found Dr. Fundaminsky. I showed him my ex-rays and told my story, and he told me t same thing that my cousin. He said that I had to extract this tooth immediately. I came to his office. He has a lovely office on Rodeo Drive. Before removal, he injected me with anesthesia, and for the first time in a week, I stopped suffering from pain. The extraction went great. He removed the tooth and took out two cysts and a piece of the instrument. I didn't feel anything. I am so thankful to Dr. Fundaminsky! Also, he has the best dental assistants. Dr Fundaminsy deserves 5 stars in my opinion. I have been seeing him for the last year and half and he has done 3 gold crowns and an implant for me. Dr. Fundaminsky is the best. Genetically, I do not have the best teeth, so through the years I had to go to many dentists to maintain the health of my teeth and I've been to the best of them. During this time, I had a lot of different procedures done. Sometime last September I starting having very severe headaches and pain on one side of my face, the pain was so debilitating that I would pass out from it. I went to see my old dentist who said that I needed another root canal to kill yet another tooth. I could not deal with it anymore. I thought pretty soon I will have no live teeth, so I went for a second opinion to Dr. Fundaminsky. When I met Dr. Fundaminsky for the first time, he took a look in my mouth and right away he could tell what the problem was and why I was having all the pain. He said that I do NOT need a root canal, the tooth that hurts is not the problem. The problem is that most dentists see the trees, but not the forest. They treat teeth one at a time not taking into consideration the whole mouth. Dr. Fundaminsky explained that my bite was all wrong and that was causing all the pain. He explained that I was not really chewing my food because the teeth do not even touch each other when my mouth is closed. So, since September, Dr. Fundaminsky reconstructed my whole mouth, put it all together like it was supposed to be in the first place. He did not have to do a root canal, I do not have any more headaches, I can chew on both sides of my mouth equally and comfortably and I feel and sleep much better than I ever used to. I didn't myself until I graduated from my initial pediatric dentist and may I say that, and although I haven't been the most diligent at times, it is always an absolute pleasure to visit Dr. Fundaminsky! The continual and tireless interest he and his whole staff show in learning, exploring, and furthering dentistry is beyond encouraging and downright inspiring to me. July 2016 I had to go to Dr. Fundaminsky for my own teeth, I had a broken tooth and one that needed extraction, I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep. I regularly see Dr. Fundaminsky for 23 years. I came to see him first time after really bad experience at the hands of other dentist and became his regular patient. He fixed all my dental problems quickly, and now he does regular cleaning and monitors the condition of all my teeth. He warns me about potential problems that might arise down the road, so I'm never caught by a surprise if any small dental work will be needed. I've brought my husband to Dr. Fundaminsky. His mouth had lots of problems and required a lot of work. Dr. Fundaminsky patiently worked with my husband doing everything you can imagine - from simple filling, root canal and crown to tooth extraction and multiple implants. Needless to say that everything healed beautifully, and his mouth looks better than ever. This Russian "dentist" is an absolute swindler. It seems like he tells everyone the same story. "Your problems began when you were a child and your bite formed in a wrong way" "If your parents were smarter you wouldn't have any of your root canals, or headache, or neck pressure..." He was telling me that Russian dentistry sucks and called his former colleagues "impotents". He said that 90% of american dentists do not know what they are doing. And that he is the only one, genius, master of all trades, artist... He doesn't like to do root canals, because it's cheap. He'd better do some crowns or implants. And he will show you your treatment plan later, when there's no way back. In my case, when I asked him to do a cleaning, he trimmed away my upper front tooth in order to make a four tooth bridge in the future. I had to leave LA next day and left with plastic tooth. Obviously, I didn't plan to make any crowns or get a "hollywood smile" in two days of my stay in LA. I just wanted to get a consultation and general cleaning at most. Be careful, don't make my mistake. On the initial consultation he asked for deposit of $4,000 "in order to feel himself like a real dentist". By mistake I paid him without even seeing a treatment plan. No he is refusing to refund it. He even called some Russian mafia to frighten me. I'm going to sue him and will require to recall his license. And it's not even about money, it's about health and the fact that people like him should not operate like doctors. People, avoid this doctor at his empty office on Rodeo Drive. If you still go, keep in mind that he doesn't hesitate to show his patient's teeth models (yes, he makes them, for himself and will charge you $500 for that) to other potential clients saying "you see, how horrible it was, now we can go and see what I did" By the way, picture on my yelp.com profile is before visit to Fundamisky. Dr. Fundaminsky is not just a regular dentist. He is a magician with hands made of Gold. He has been my dentist for the past 21 years (since I was 10 years old) and has made sure I don't know what it means to have problems with teeth. 10 years ago, I moved to San Diego was still seeing Dr. Fundaminsky for all my dental work annually. After having kids, however, I got lazy and decided to try out a local San Diego dentist, who also came highly recommended. Well, guess what....BIG MISTAKE. I went to the local dentist who did x-rays/photos and decided that I needed several fillings and a crown. He said we'd start with the crown. I've never had a crown before (thanks to Dr. Fundaminsky) but figured this dentist must know what he's talking about. Though the tooth was not bothering me at all. After the dentist did the crown, that tooth started to hurt. I came to the dentist NOT in pain and left with pain. After the crown, I went back to the dentist 4 more times to fix the pain and each time he said it was the bite and would drill to fix the bit. The pain remained. After the 4th attempt at having the local dentist fix my tooth, I said FORGET IT! I am going to take the day off work and go where I KNOW my tooth will be done right and end this pain. Dr. Fundaminsky was not happy with me for going to this dentist because he had x-rays of my teeth from 1 year prior and informed me that I never needed a crown in the first place. The local dentist tricked me into believing I did, when the tooth was completely fine. Not to mention the 10 "cavities" he wanted to fill (also completely unnecessary). Needless to say, after an hour with his magic hands, Dr. Fundamisky re-did the crown and the pain went away hours later. Going forward, I will not hesitate to take a day off work and make the trip to see Dr. Fundamisky because he's the only one I know who will be COMPLETELY HONEST with me even if it means telling me I DON'T need fillings or crown and he's the only one I know who will make sure my teeth are perfect and I am never in pain. read more

Is he a good dentist? I'm not 100% sure. He had some interesting advice for me in regards to a root canal. He didn't think I needed it and thought if he changed my bite by redoing half of my fillings, he could save my one tooth from the root canal. Might have worked, but I didn't want to pay thousands of dollars to find out when my insurance would pay for a simple root canal. Is he worth going to? No way. He definitely feels like a scam artist. And unfriendly is putting it mildly. If you have the money and time, go ahead and pay him a visit. He likes money and wants yours. He doesn't care if you have insurance, he will bill you first at full price, then bill the insurance, and MAYBE give you any money he collected from insurance. Save yourself the trouble, there are lots of dentists out there. Go to someone else. read more

Dr. Fundaminsky has saved both me and my husband from unnecessary dental work. I went to see Dr. Funadminsky to get some bonding repaired from a previous dentist's work. He noticed I had some old silver fillings and didn't like the looks of one in particular. Sure enough when he removed it, he discovered secondary decay. Yikes! Thank goodness he pays attention and practices good preventive care or else I have no idea how long that would've been left to fester. Eww! My husband is equally grateful for getting a second opinion from Dr. Fundaminsky on a toothache he had had for a month. He originally went to see another dentist (actually a friend of ours!) who said he most likely needed a root canal. When my husband came to see Dr. Fundaminsky, he was outraged to hear what the other dentist suggested upon looking at his teeth. Fundaminsky said there was no way, even to suggest, that my husband would need a root canal. He fixed it without the root canal and my husband hasn't had a problem since! Phew! Thanks for saving our teeth and wallets! As for the previous review, I'm not sure what happened, but I know that I've had bonding on my four front teeth and have had to do a few repairs over the past 5 years from my previous dentist. Dr. Fundaminsky had to go in twice to get my bonding right but that is because of the subpar job of my orthodontist. To make a tooth look aesthetically nice looking while not interfering with your natural bite, all while having an incorrect bite in the first place can be tricky with some patients. Nonetheless, my bonding work has held up with Fundaminsky. He is also a very straightforward person and takes his profession very seriously. The take-away is that Dr. Fundaminsky goes in and tackles problem areas before they become bigger problems while avoiding unnecessary and overly aggressive procedures. I am very picky about dentists in LA. My teeth mean a lot to me and I want them to be not just good , I want them to be PERFECT. I came to see Dr. Fundaminsky with terrible toothache when I was 39 weeks pregnant . I was not sure if he could help me, but,like always,believed in him! He checked on me,he told and explained exactly what was going on. He made only one x-Rey,Just to make sure that he was right. Very very gentle he has relieved me from this terrible pain. Oh... I did not mention that before my appointment with Dr. Fundaminsky I could not sleep for 3 nights coz of that pain, Advil did not help, Tylenol did not help. Only the best doctor in the town had helped me! His technology is amazing! It took him about 20 min to relieve me of the pain. He let me go,told to come back after delivery my baby. Dr Fundaminsky is a professional of highest imaginable caliber. I get treatments from him for over 15 years. Several years back, he placed 7 implants into my mouth. It was a total success, in spite of my advanced age (I am in my 70-s). He masters the most updated techniques available in the field. Recently, I needed two more implants to be installed. As usual, Dr Fundaminsky completed a very sophisticated treatment in a rather short time (the entire procedure took about 1.5 hours, including extraction of a root, placing a graft into the upper jaw using my own blood-based membrane, and installing one of the implants). This procedure goes beyond common dentistry and amounts to bone surgery (and is covered by insurance accordingly). It requires a precise X-ray control and exceptional skills to complete the surgery without post-operational complications. Due to an adequate local anestesia and the dentist mastery, the procedure was not associated with any substantial pain, and rather mild post-operational pain was tolerable and gone the next day. Dr Fundaminsky is a perfectionist accepting only the very best options for his patients. He and his staff are all friendly, understanding people, willing to take into account individual needs of his patients. In the aftremarth of the treatment, Doctor called me for a few days in a raw, in other to check on my condition and make sure that the healing process develops as expected. I don't know if he's a good dentist or not, but he's a liar and a cheat when it comes to insurance. He charged me full price for his work even though he's in-network for my insurance company. He gave me a claim form and told me to submit it to the insurance company myself. He told me that the insurance company would send the money to me. Not only did they send the money to him, they told me on the phone that they *always* send the money directly to the dentist and that Fundaminsky must have known that. So he's gotten paid twice now. I filed a complaint with the insurance company and they say they're going to refund my money but they haven't yet and so Fundaminsky has had hundreds of dollars of my money for almost a year now. I'm surprised that this behaviour isn't considered criminal. It's certainly unethical. If you do go to this dentist don't believe him if he tells you to file your own claim. He's also rough and jerked my head this way and that way while yelling at me the whole time. Ick. read more
