However, the lack of variety, cost, and overall temperature in Hawaii discouraged me from keeping up with that habit. Thankfully I met Kai and Gentle Beast Floral. Kai has an esthetic that isn't common in Hawaii. He likes to work with non-native flowers, which means he imports his flowers from all over the world. His arrangements are thoughtful, beautiful and lush. Kai's floral designs remind me of centerpieces I'd see at weddings in the mainland or even abroad. He incorporates many different varieties and textures in each one of his works. Also his pieces are reasonably priced and he customizes them to suit each clients tastes. The last arrangement I received was still beautiful days later! Recently purchased this flower arrangement from Kai at Gentle Beast Floral. The roses used were pretty neat, they were full of what appeared to hundreds of petals. Oh and they were more fragrant than most roses I've come across. I inquired about the roses and Kai said they were a special type of rose imported from Columbia, David Austin roses. Sounded fancy and certainly looked fancy! The lauhala vase used went well with the colors and also gave it a Polynesian flare. I paid $50 which is pretty much in line with what you would pay from an online florist or a local shop, glad to keep business in Hawaii and support a up and coming florist. The Gentle Beast is an AWESOME business. I had ordered flowers for my wife's birthday from a national floral delivery site (Teleflora), 5 days before they needed to be delivered. I got a confirmation email and my card was charged. On her birthday, no flowers had been delivered by 4pm so I checked the order status on the Teleflora website. It showed as "with florist" and provided no other information. I proceeded to call their customer service line and got their call center who told me "you have the wrong date. The flowers will not be delivered until tomorrow." When I showed them the order was for today and not for tomorrow, their reply was "sorry sir, the delivery is for tomorrow, not for today, because that is when the florist can deliver it". I cancelled the order and made an order with The Gentle Beast after their close of business that day, expecting to get the delivery the next day (a day after her birthday). When they saw that my wife's birthday was that day, they actually created my order and delivered it AFTER HOURS ON THE DAY I ORDERED IT!! It was a beautiful arrangement and my wife was very happy. THE GENTLE BEAST FLORAL in Honolulu knows how to take care of their customers and I will give them all of my business from now on. They are awesome! Bottom line - SHOP LOCAL!!! The "Constance Rose" was my fave because it smelled like more than rose water while looking like a peony. All roses should look and smell like these. I can't believe I lagged on this review! They deserve a 5STAR review. I'm from California and planned a last minute trip to hawaii for vday. I had ordered 3 different sets of flowers. One on the arrival to the hotel which was a perfect surprise for my lady. The next day was vday and she woke up to another set of flowers making her think she wasn't getting anymore flowers.
