I got a minor dose of radiation to my melon to show my choppers and decided to go sleepy-sleepy when I get them yanked in December. The ladies at the front desk verified my insurance and I was provided a detailed estimate of what the total cost would be. After a 12:30 appt. today, I was finally called back at 1:05. Dental assistant didn't apologize or say one word to me during xrays. She also didn't put the vest on me prior to xrays. I never received the cleaning I signed up for and of course the lady dentist found all kinds of issues even though my prior dentist who I'd seen for 20 years helped me to maintain all areas with no big ticket issues. I finally left 2 hours later. Never going back. In fact, I'll pay to see my regular dentist out of pocket! My wife was in the front office and said the front office staff, especially the insurance coordinator, was rude to other workers, and I heard many phone conversations about people whose monthly payments didn't 'go through'. I'm done with gentle dental. After waiting an excessively long time to get a routine appointment, it was then cancelled and I was told to reschedule. Called this office multiple times at different times and different days without anyone answering the phone. Are we supposed to drive to you to make an appointment? Answer your phones!!!! Would give negative stars if I could. They denied treatment (cleaning) to me due to high BP. Which they caused. They thought they could bring my high BP down with a cup of water. They just needed to get that damn wrist BP tester away from me and do their job. And treat my teeth. I just needed a cleaning. But when I showed up I had to get exrays + (for the 2nd time in same year). They are soaking your insurance for all they can get and leaving you dry. read more

I had a reservation 4 months ago and was notified of the cancellation on the morning of the same day. Then I changed my reservation again for Wednesday 9/25. Dr Walkup, Hilda and Julie make a wonderful team. Had a wonderful experience as a new patient and felt very well taken care of. Dr Walkup answered all of my questions very thoroughly. Hilda took great care of my new patient exam. Julie was very thorough with her cleaning. The front office staff, Veronica, was great at communication and very pleasant. Only downside is that they can be booked out for a while. Took me nearly 2 months to get into their office. Would recommend their team for your dental care! read more

Unacceptable Cancellation and Mismanagement of Appointment The mismanagement and lack of communication regarding my daughter, and her orthodontic consultation scheduled for April 30, 2024, at the Cornell office. In February, I arranged this appointment, only to be informed a week before the appointment by phone that my daughter could not see the orthodontist due to not visiting a general dentist in over a year. This is incorrect, as she was seen the general dentist at Cornell office in 2023. Despite this, I accommodated its request and agreed for its booking of general dentist appointment for April 26, which was the earliest available at Timberland location. On the day of the appointment (April 26), I received another call from Timberland location canceling the visit because it was mistakenly made for a hygienist only, not a general dentist. Now, I am told the next available slot for a general dentist is in two months. I think this sequence of errors on GD part is unacceptable and has caused significant inconvenience and frustration. read more

While I stay with the office because of my dentist, Dr.Alti, who is fantastic, I have been dissatisfied with the front office, customer service, and scheduling for some time. Today I encountered new staff and an entirely different and excellent experience when I got to the office. While staff shortages persist, the helpful, pleasant, "we will work it out" approach was appreciated! Dr Walker is the worst. She is a young immature child of a doctor. Rudest lady I've met in Oregon. Her staff was beyond helpful and nice. She refused service to me because I explained to her why I did not want to have x rays (had them 6 months ago). She told me she would contact my previous dentist only to ask her staff to ask me to reschedule. Extremely frustrated with this location. Due to staffing issues our child that has braces has not been able to be seen for an adjustment for 8 months! EIGHT. Cleaning appointments have been cancelled 3 times this year for the same child. Other child's appt for cleaning also cancelled twice. No consideration given for the gap of 8 months of no adjustments and told to wait another 7 weeks for an appointment. Once the braces are off we will 100% be finding a new dentist for our family. Last year the scheduled a cleaning and didn't have an ortho person there to assist with the cleaning and waited until we got there and sent us home. I took a day off work to make the appointment for him and they could have cared less. This used to be a great place and we love Dr. Alti but now it's just awful. read more

This is about the specialist side specifically. My dentist had me visit the specialist side due to fibroma or granuloma that had grown on my gums. Once seeing the specialist, she removed the growth and wanted to send it off for a biopsy just to be safe. That was in May and I have still heard nothing back from this supposed biopsy, just left wondering if everything is okay. I have been to this office multiple times during this period as my dentist wanted to replace the crown that was failing (they believe it was the cause of the growth). Each time I asked the dentist and the people up front about my results. They said they have no idea and that I have to ask the specialist. She only works in the office on Wed's yet I have to track her down? Why can no one else reach out to her? Gentle Dental has no other way of communication other than through the physical locations. This is a huge let down because it shows they don't care about my overall health, they have poor interdepartmental communication but had zero problem collecting the money from me. I have never had an issue to this degree with the regular dentistry side and the specialist did a good job in removing the problem because it hasn't grown back (which she said could happen) but why charge what I'm sure was extra for a biopsy and then never give me the results? I hope they can fix how the to sides communicate and actually find a single point of contact to deliver results to a patient. There are 3-4 people sitting up front on any given visit, not one of them can absorb the task of checking in with the doctor who sits on the other side of the wall on Wed's?? I've asked all of them at this point and none have gotten back to me with an answer. read more

I'm surprised at all of the 1 star reviews, my experience has been nothing but positive with this office. The front staff is very friendly, and the cleaning specialists are quick and efficient as well, and gentle on my gums which I greatly appreciate. I'm usually in and out for my appointments. Billing is always straight forward as well; I get my teeth cleaned, promptly pay the fee, and I'm out the door. However, the primary reason I love this location is because of Dr. Alti - his optimistic charm and professionalism is very refreshing. A few months ago, I received a small filling, and he called me the next day to see how my mouth was doing - I've never had a dentist call me after the fact, and I was pleasantly surprised by the call quite frankly. The surgery was pretty uneventful and did not take very long at all. I had been having problems with that one tooth for years, which several dentists wanted to extract from my mouth, or perform a root canal on it, which I didn't want to do. When it was Dr. Alti's turn to observe the tooth, he noticed a small cavity on it. I said "cavity" in disbelief because that hasn't happened to me in awhile. He said "yes" and then quickly showed me the decay, and then followed with: "we need to take care of that immediately." This was said in a more serious tone than the usual jovial one so indicative of his personality. How could I refuse after he showed me the evidence. I wondered how everyone else seemed to miss what seemed to me so obvious. He did a great job, and magically I now have no issues whatsoever with the tooth. To think that I could have been snaggletoothed after listening to some other doctors is an unpleasant thought. Like I said, my experience has been limited to cleanings, and I've had no major operations to speak on, but so far everything has been great for me with this office. read more

I've been trying to get my teeth cleaned for a year now. They have rescheduled me every single time. I have had 4 appointments and they have either cancelled or rescheduled the day or or day before every single time. I would never recommend this location. The dentist can't stick to a schedule and your patients suffer because of it. I have health conditions that require me to take care of my teeth and you have jeopardized that by constantly rescheduling for A YEAR. A YEAR. I made an appointment to see if I cracked a tooth. The front office staff and the hygienist were very nice and that part was a good experience. For a few reasons, I do not want or like my blood pressure to be taken unless medically necessary in a Medical Doctor's office. I refused the taking of my blood pressure and the Dentist, Dr. Walker, came in to tell me that it was Policy. I still objected and Dr. Walker said they were uncomfortable with proceeding without it and gave some really weak "reasons" why it was necessary for an exam. They bullied me to get their way while I was backed into a corner because I needed to have my possibly cracked tooth examined. The lack of empathy and respect for my boundaries and my body was unacceptable to me and indicated that my wishes would not be respected when it came to treatments and my body. My spouse and I will never go back. We had okay experiences at other Gentle Dental offices but this has soured us on all of them. read more

This is continuing review from the last one. I just received their billing statement last week and I just tried to pay them today and they are saying it was sent off to the collection . I called gentle dental last month to see where I stand on the invoice and they said I was clear on my bill. I called the collection agency and they don't see it as its in the "precollection" . This is after I specially asked Melissa who is their office manager there if I can pay them since the invoice was just sent off today. The people at the office are reasonably nice, and other than for endodontist work, I can usually get an appointment at convenient times. However, twice in my 7 year history with Gentle Dental have I had the need to use their "emergency dentist" voicemail - once on Christmas Day, 2014, and again on Labor Day 2019, and in both cases, I was in excruciating pain due to the need for a root canal. In both cases, despite leaving multiple messages, I did not receive a call back until regular business hours. It is astounding to me that this company allegedly has in place a system of on-call dentists exactly for this kind of situation yet in both cases I actually needed them, they failed me miserably. The most recent issue was blamed on an AT&T network outage which prevented the oncall dentist from getting my messages, and I did receive an apology when I was eventually contacted, but 0 for 2 on what should be a routine process - sorry, that is not okay. And to top it all off, I just got a call back from some central Gentle Dental call center asking whether I had been assisted yet - I left a message on the 800 # after not hearing back from the first two messages for the oncall dentist - and after I started explaining how disappointed I was that they are just now checking on me Thursday, from a voicemail I left Monday, the lady actually hung up on me. Seriously, time for me to find a new dentist. read more

Every time I have to call for myself or a family member they act as if I am interrupting their day and have the attitude that they have something way more important to be doing. I've been taking my daughters, now ages 3 and 6, here for a couple years, and we've been very happy with them. Everyone is very friendly and wonderful with kids. One of my daughters has some sensory issues around taste, and the other is extremely cautious around new people. But they both do fine here, because the technicians and dentist are so good with them. At the end of the appointment, kids even get two tokens that they can put in machines to get a treasure (like a little bouncy ball or plastic ring), and my kids LOVE that. Also, at our most recent appointment, my very nervous 3-year-old had her baby doll with her, and Dr. Jessica not only let her bring her baby into the chair, she even "checked" the baby's teeth before checking my daughter's. I really appreciate that she took the time to do that to make an anxious kid feel more comfortable. So yes, we recommend Gentle Dental and Dr. Jessica very highly. read more

Very bad telephone service been provided by employee with name Morgan. She was absolutely not patient and I feel hamulated for accent I have. Her treatment make me feel very low level and insulting. I am a professional with PHD degree in IT and I am working for the well know company. I have great insurance and I tried to explain this person that information they have in computer is outdated, she needs to contact my insurance to update how much balance I have. She did not listen and continue in very unpolite tone of voice saying me that their computer shows zero balance in my benefits. It was horrible. I got disconnected and tried to call back, but I was constantly on hold for another 30 minutes. I think she saw my number and did it on purpose, putting me on hold. First of all, my appointment was rescheduled twice due to scheduling errors on the office's behalf. They informed me of the fact that no hygienist was available after I made work arrangements and had to put off cleanings for over a month. I am already nervous about the dentist and this made it much worse. They would not do anything to make up for my stress and how I had to keep rescheduling work priorities for appointments they kept changing. One appointment wasn't even at the right clinic.
