Our daughter went in for her regular six month check up. Previous six month check up X-rays were taken and nothing was found. My 18 yr old daughter is meticulous about her teeth cleaning. She brushes, flosses, and uses a water pick every day. She came home from this recent appointment and was told she had nine cavities!?!?! We just got a second opinion from another dentist with X-rays and there were zero cavities found. This place used to be good but now has turned into a money grab. I will be filing a formal complaint with the department of dentistry. This place could have wrecked her teeth. read more

Whether for dentistry or orthodontist, we consistently have to wait 30 -40 minutes after our appointment time. There is never an acknowledgement or apology for the extreme wait time. When the staff does not even acknowledge the inconsideration of the long wait time, it doesn't lead one to believe they are making any effort to respect their patient's time and correct the practice. We don't love dentists but in this case we do! Highly recommend for service, care, timeliness, care, scheduling, bed-side manner and care. ALWAYS LATE! Years ago one of my kids had to start orthodontic treatment and thinking about the check ups every 4 weeks, I found Gentle Dental to be conveniently located 5 min away from home. Big mistake. They are terrible. Regretfully I have had to stay with them until the treatment is done. They are ALWAYS late by one hour and many times even an hour and a half. This was way before the Pandemic. So this is how they operate. Worst dental office ever. My first visit was ok it was my consultation and evaluation I'm looking to get braces talked about pricing and my insurance coverage I then still had to give payment to hold my next appointment to be seen by the doctor. My 2nd visit was just an unexpected experience with the staff bickering with one another then I overheard that I was charged an extra $10 from the last visit but they didn't want to refund me in case I get something more done! What a bunch of great ladies! My initial phone call was answered by Andrea who went out if her way to help me obtain my insurance information, since I didn't have a copy of my insurance card. She was so understanding without any hesitation to take it upon herself to make the phone calls for me. I was greeted at the office by a friendly staff. I met with the doctor, who was down to earth, personable, and had a great sense of humor. She was thorough and very informative. My dental hygienist was just as amazing as the rest! I'm glad I found them. I have deficiencies that contribute to some major dental issues. Add to that some awful experiences with various dentists. I have some pretty bad dental terror (the local shots don't work well on me so I had put it off too long. It's hard to find a dental office that has Saturday hours, accepts your insurance and offers sedation. Gentle Dental checked all the boxes so I gave them a try. The positives: The dentist was patient, gentle and friendly. The hygienists that I dealt with were awesome. The sedation process was mostly seamless. I feel so much better now. I am going back for a bridge in a few months. . The negatives: I was referred to their oral surgeon for some of my work. I got that bad vibe from him. I just don't think he "gets" dental terror. He also told me he could do all of my work under sedation in one sitting but the treatment plan I took home ignored the low profit procedures I needed. If I didn't read it, I would have been furious after. I asked the general dentist if she'd do it all under sedation. I took my chances and I'm glad I did. I also find the front desk staff to be hit or miss. Every question I ask gets a response "I'll have to ask my manager and call you back." Then I have to call again to get that answer and I sometimes feel they are mo more confident with the answer. Overall, though, I'm happy. read more

I really wanted to like this place since it's right down the street from my house and the appointment was easy and had many openings. But when I went with my daughter (who I had to take out of school for this appointment) we waited 45 mins in the waiting room! I don't mind a little wait, but I got there early as I was a new patient but 45 mins!? Not a single word from the receptionist either. Not a "sorry it's taking so long, or it shouldn't be to much longer" So me and my daughter left. There is no way I was gonna wait in an even smaller room when they called our name. Went here for several years and finally switched over. Always went into my appointments feeling great. Always came out in tremendous pain which lasted for several months. I don't know what they did to me in there but it couldn't have been necessary. Other members of my family shared this experience of feeling fine, but being told they had cavities, getting them filled, and then being extremely sensitive for about a year following. My woes with Gentle Dental started years ago. I didn't realized I was being scammed then. I do now. Whenever you have tooth pain most common response from them is to get a crown. I have one from them that they did. Now I think I may not have needed it. I went in last year to find out why one my molars hurt. They of course said I needed a crown or a root canal. They had put a new filling years ago. I didn't come back because the pain seemed to go away. Stick a pin in that, Late last year I had broken part of one my molars. They wanted to give me a root canal. They said they were going to charge me $900 to do that and put a new crown on it. They said they needed a specialist to come and do the work. I told them to just pull it out. They needed to get a specialist for that too. Long story short I went to someone else and got it done for less than half of what GD was going to charge me. A few weeks ago I went in to get my teeth cleaned. They x rayed my teeth said there were - no - cavities. But they had to scale (sp) my teeth to get them cleaned. They were going to charge me $279 for that. I called Medicaid to see if I could find somebody in network. They recommended GD. I told her what was going on. She called them to find out why they were charging me so much. They said they only charge the lesser price for kids. I went to another place in Oswego. They scaled and cleaned my teeth for $200. Also, they found three cavities! I went back to have them do the filling. The doctor showed me (with a mirror) one of the teeth that GD had put a filling in after drilling it off. There was a big black spot in it! I'm surprised they can't see if from space. Plus, another tooth that I thought looked strangely dark. There were two cavities in that! Now either GD is running a scam or their dentists are incompetent. I give them only one star because the people were nice. read more

What a racket. I have no insurance. I paid $129 for the "savings plan" including x-rays from Ogden Valley Dental in Naperville. I was told to see a plan specialist and had only 3 choices. I chose Yorville Gentle Dental and paid another $80 out of pocket just to be told that the specialist can't tell what needs to be done. $200 later and nothing done to fix my tooth. read more

Clean office and friendly staff. I've only seen an actual dentist once - for my initial new patient appointment. I was not impressed. She flew into the room, glanced at my xrays, poked briefly at my teeth and then ordered a deep cleaning before zipping out. Totally not personable. The only reason why I kept the appointment I'd made is because it is close to my house, their hours are reasonable, and I liked that they made a print out of the services you would be needing with cost breakdown (which included with our cost would be after the estimated insurance payouts). The rest of the staff are very pleasant, and I really like my dental hygienist (you make appointments with them and you'll have the same one each time). I don't really care for the work space as it's not very private.... the chairs are set up in one long room and divided by large wooden cabinets. I've only had cleanings here, so I'm not sure if they have actual rooms for more intense procedures. I will be needing some more intensive work done (root canals) coming up in the next few months and will be basing my decision on staying with this office on how well these procedures are performed. read more

Had an appointment at 4:30, still waited over 30 minutes. On the positive side, the staff was checking voicemail on speaker phone while the whole crowded waiting room listened. Looks like medical privacy isn't a big deal here. After a few minutes of voicemails, the staff went into super speed Spanish talking mode, so we all got to listen to words we didn't understand, which is a plus I guess. Later in our extended wait, the staff would come out to the lobby and loudly explain details about patient's teeth and procedures. At least these were in English, so I had some entertainment at the expense of other patient's medical privacy. Not impressed. Steer clear of this place. Unprofessional staff, no consideration for medical privacy or keeping appointment times. read more

Been seen a few times about this time last year. They said I needed a cavities redone. Ok fine. Get a few done, and then tooth 18 (molar back left) got done. It felt off even when it was numbed out the wazoo. It was extremely sensitive after the meds wore off. Day by day pain started and increased. Made an appointment to be seen. They wrote it off as sensitivity and buzzed down the filling a bit to see if it helped. Nope. Didn't work. Made another appointment and it was worse. They brushed on some fluoride stuff and sent me on my way. Then the horrid pain began. Shooting awful pain. Made another appointment. Was given antibiotics and pain meds and told I needed either a root canal or an extraction. Awesome enough for Medicaid only extractions are covered. It was that or a $1,200 root canal. Finally went found a dentist who did extractions AND takes Medicaid. Tooth got yoinked and it was heaven. No more pain. I got to sleep. I ate like no tomorrow. Medicaid is great but I wish they actually paid something so we were treated better. read more

I have been bringing my kids to Gentle Dental for 3 years. My daughter says she will never go anywhere else. She is very comfortable there. She is also receiving her braces treatment at Gentle Dental. My son has a hard time going to the dentist but the staff is wonderful with him. Unfortunately, yelp requires me to give this place a star, however if I could it would receive none. I went to Gentle Dental for a cleaning and a check-up because my dentist is a 35 minute drive away and it is more difficult to get in with him considering it is a small and private practice. I thought this was more convenient and someone had recommended it to me. When I first showed up for my appointment they were about 20 minutes late calling me back even though there was no one else in the waiting room. When I checked in, I asked approximately how much it would cost me for this visit with my insurance, to which the incredibly rude receptionist told me she refused to check until the services were over in case he dentist decided to do more than just a cleaning and check-up today. I informed her I was not interested in receiving other services today and wanted to know approximately how much this would cost me, she again refused to tell me. I should've left then. When I finally was called back, they began the x-rays and uncomfortable awkward conversation that is an essential part of any dentist appointment. The hygienist asked me how my weekend was to which I replied "I've been better, but thanks for asking," and he so respectfully responded with "Glad to hear that." Thanks for listening. He then when through all of the x-rays, and when it came time for the panoramic x-ray, he asked me to remove any facial or ear piercings and that was it. When it came time to actually do it, he noticed I had a ring on my finger and I was wearing a necklace. He aggressively noted that I was asked to remove any and all jewelry and I made sure to inform him that he only mentioned facial piercings. When we returned to the room, the dentist came in and asked me if my "mommy" (yes, he literally referred, to her as my mommy) was here, because he wanted to discuss my wisdom teeth. I then informed him that I was a legal adult and did not need my "mommy" to bring me to the dentist and hold my hand any more, especially considering I made my own payments and hold my own insurance. He then informed me that himself and the hygienist would talk in "dentist talk" and then he'd later explain everything to me. Once he explained how my dental hygiene was, he left the hygienist to "clean" my teeth. It took him about 5-10 minutes total and he made my gums bleed about 3 times. I was informed I needed to floss more and that if it was necessary, the hygienist could show me how to do it. Needless to say, I hated my visit. I decided that despite the inconvenience, I would return to my original dentist. I went to Gentle Dental and requested that they e-mail my x-rays and records to my original dentist and I signed all the necessary paperwork for them to do so. I also received a wonderful eye roll from the oh-so-kind receptionist that was working when I came in for my visit. Here I am more than three weeks after making my request and my dentist still has not received my records from them. Today, I called them to see if something happened and if they could send/re-send my records to them. Unfortunately, I have called 5 times this morning over a 2 1/2 hour long period and still have not gotten through to them. Once I had told my friends and family about my "delightful" visit, they informed me that they or someone they know had equally terrible visits. I haven't been to a dentist in quite a few years. I have had some really terrible experiences cost wise and pain wise (not to mention a dentist slipping and drilling my tongue once!) But I found a tooth that had a real issue and it had to be tended to. I didn't have to wait long to get in, they were very good with people who didn't have insurance. The dentist said i had a bad tooth, she wanted to do a root canal. I told her I know she is the expert (believe me I know they know best) but I really would prefer an extraction. She asked why and I said pain and money (both true and valid I assure you). I have had a few root canals and they have been a bad experience for me. I told her if it was a front tooth then that's a different story but I'm a coward and a poor one at that so she offered to try a pulp cap (not too costly) and if that doesnt work then she will extract it. Terrified of extraction but I'll be brave and go for it, so next week, crossing my fingers! Either way, doctor was respectful and assistants were obliging. Front desk girls were nice when I came in and the girls in billing were very helpful and answered all my questions. I dealt directly with Ivonne and she worked out all the nitty gritty details and I was very happy with her! Overall a good experience for something I fear. I'm hoping next week goes good, I'm glad the people were nice to deal with and the facility was not freezing! read more

I'm sorry I have to give them a star, they don't deserve it. This is a terrible dental office. My mother has been waiting over 4 months for front teeth. A crown and an implant. After waiting 20 mins. for her appt. today they tell us we have to reschedule because the dentist wasn't there today and he brought the kit needed to put the implant in home with him. Wouldn't you think the dentist would be the one putting in the implant? Then they tell us the crown wasn't ready, the lab was still working on it. What kind of dental office is this? My daughter went to here for a cleaning. What a joke. They did take x-rays, poked around her gums a little & told her the cleaning was done. They didn't remove plaque, polish her teeth or even bother to floss. When she questioned the cleaning, they told her that was the cleaning & if she wanted the other things done, that was a deep cleaning. I've never heard of such a thing. Any dentist I've ever been to has provided plaque removal, polishing, flossing, fluoride treatment, etc as a standard cleaning. Staff was rude to her when she questioned them & rude to me when I called to complain. NEVER again will she go back & I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

LOVE THEM!! I have loved this place for years. Today took the cake. I waited too long to have a tooth pulled and today the planets aligned. I was in a lot of pain. I called at 10. Not only did they say they could help me but I could come in right then. Dr. Nimry is awesome. Dr shay pulled my tooth & put an implant in and was good on pricing. An implant is around $5500, so it was an expensive day but unavoidable. All of the pricing is VERY clear. I mean,there is no way for you to not know the charges ahead of time. I was all done with everything by 11:45! Dr. Nimry had been telling me to get this done, and I waited too long. But to get in immediately was something I really needed this week. Plus Alfredo was an incredible assistant. The front office staff is always fabulous! They explained everything to me, made sure I knew what to do for aftercare.
