I went there on one occasion and they are billing me around $500 for X- rays and the dentist looking in my mouth. They tried billing my insurance ( they tried to tell them it was an estimate) for close to $5000 for services that have not been rendered!! I inquired about a new patient special I saw online for $57 for X-rays, cleaning, oral exam and treatment plan. Lindsey told me that offer applied to anyone while the manager there Tom told me it was only for people with no insurance!(LIARS). I also told Tom that I didn't want to have to pay out of my pocket and in their estimate it stated I would have to pay over $1200,dollars. Stay away from this place - it's nothing but a den of thieves!! read more

They will gladly try to mislead you into paying more than you bargained for. I had been a happy patient there for many years until recently. Great staff, very professional, good cleanings. Had braces put on a year ago, very happy with the process so far. My front teeth uncrossed, over bite fixed. Very bad experience I made an appointment to get two bondings done, specifically said over the phone I just want two bondings went to the appointment, they did a cleaning which was fine then the actual dentist comes in, I know I have cavities so she says oh we can charge you 1,800$ to fill the cavities then do your bondings, I said no thanks i'll find another dentist who will do what I specifically requested and for some reason they scheduled me for an appointment to fill two "cavities" without my knowledge or consent and are now calling me almost everyday for money for an appointment that I didn't go too because I didn't even know it existed. read more

My most recent visit was the culmination of many visits to improve my smile. Sheila performed the zoom and as always she was very caring and concerned about my comfort level. Dr.Amin is the best. She worked with me all along and was so professional and nice and friendly that sometimes I forgot I was at the dentist. Gentle Dental is a great place if you are looking for the best treatment. I had 8 cavities and had half of them done at a different place, they did a really bad job so I picked Gentle Dental to do the rest of the fillings. The front desk were friendly and answers any questions I have. Dr Amin and her assistant did a very nice job filling my other cavities (which didn't hurt at all and she's always checking if I was doing ok). Then I went back to them had my wisdom teeth taken out. I went to consult with Dr Robert and he explained the treatment plan in detail and the risks of wisdom tooth extraction which is reassuring because oral surgery is quite scary. The surgery went very well. I went back for following up and they made sure I was recovering ok. I'm very happy with all the work they've done. This is the best dental clinic! read more

I began drafting this while in the office waiting.. I picked up finishing the review from the 'Cleaning' section just now to publish the review. Enjoy. In here now, so far so good. I decided to begin drafting this in here because while the nice lady is developing my x-rays I have some time to start talking about what I like and dislike about the place. I decided to come here for a few reasons that revolve around the main topic of money. This place offers a new patient special of $57, nice. I don't have dental insurance and well, $57 is affordable for me. Do I want to be a tooth-whore? No, I liked where I used to go long ago (must find and review) and where I went between here and there.. I digress. Will I be happy here? We shall see when I find out the cost of a not new patient cleaning, so 6 months...... yeah. Location, corner of Main and Richardson; decent location. I personally find parking on Main in Wakefield an ugly task, that street bothers me backing up into traffic and no one really cares to let you in or out; but that's my thoughts. I went with parking a bit away just to stay en route with being near my tanning salon so I can walk over there afterwards. Hi Albion Street. Check-in. There could be some updates and the TV could be bigger, I mean not that we're going in to watch TV but I mean.. eh. It's small and there was some breaking news I wanted to see/hear. Anyways, I filled out the basic new patient paperwork and was taken back to get x-rays. Oh, hint. Don't forget that the top right of the second page is questions.. cause I missed it and so does apparently everybody else. Pre-cleaning. The nice lady did the x-rays and I had to stand in this head lock machine it made me think of something scary and I could see myself in it, it was funny. I asked her for a towel to rest my chin on it (maybe I'm a freak and get weirded..but it was okay cause) and she hooked it up. Cleaning. I don't like dropping names which was why I went with nice lady for the first person I saw so I'm going with informative lady for this one (it's a good thing). She was helpful with telling me about what she was doing and things she noticed. She asked questions about my dental hygiene like they're all supposed to ask, fine. I talked with a mirror in my mouth, no big deal. She was fun, really informational and helpful. No other place has really brought up my grinding and clenching jaw before so this added what was a 3 star review to a 4. She told me some things to help my enamel that way because what my teeth are supposed to look like and what they look like, don't match up.. We've established I do this at night but also I clench during the day as a habit and bite my tongue.. I mean shit you don't all have to know that though. I won't erase it though either.. take that if you're grossed out. Dentist. She was cool, I gotta be honest the last name through me off and now one may know who I'm speaking of but I was honestly expecting a pole and music, just sayin'.. so I was picturing some weird thing happening in my head but she was actually really nice, quite funny actually and also just as helpful as the hygienist who cleaned me up. Check-out. I paid, hey no dental insurance. I asked about a regular priced cleaning, $92 and she said to look in the Value Packs for coupons since they put $25 off ones in there quite often, also the referral program.. if a new patient puts you down you receive a $25 credit. I may have to start referring people.. HEY YOU, Cristina C that's all you gotta do, I mean you can add Yelp so I can verify myself and if you do it, PM me! There are a few ways this particular office has failed me. 1. Though the staff at the desk are fairly friendly, the dentist herself ignored me throughout and seemed annoyed that she had to tell me to open and close, which she said in one word commands in between talking to the dental assistant. 2. I was assured that I didn't need to pre-approve with insurance because they knew how much insurance would cover of a root canal. The insurance did not cover any of it and I was stuck with the full bill. 3. I was sent home from the root canal without any antibiotics or pain medication. My face swelled to twice it's size and I was in excruciating pain. When I came in to get medication they dentist finally actually spoke to me, telling me if it got any worse I should call 911 as it could kill me. read more

They booked my appointment for the day after I called and it was quick and easy. Everyone was super friendly. My dental hygienist was super sweet, she didn't have one of those fake conversations with you. I had a teeth cleaning, check-up, and X-rays..and as a new member it only costed $57! Not too shabby! My last dentists always made me feel bad because I didn't floss and would just say "you need to do it". Had a basic cleaning and exam on a Saturday afternoon. The following Monday (not even one full business day later) they mailed me a bill for $77 based on what they ESTIMATED my dental insurance would and would not pay...they had not even yet billed the insurance! I know my insurance will cover the whole bill because these are routine and preventative services. If I were dumb enough to pay this bill would they reimburse me after my insurance paid them? Doubt it. Double billing is insurance fraud! read more

I had a cracked crown. They told me how much it would be to replace it. I mentioned how that was not in the budget right now. Their response was that they could pull it. I made another appointment to have it extracted. The dentist that pulled the tooth kept leaving the room because he could not find the right tool, he kept complaining how disorganized that office was. Without the right tool it took a long time. A very short time latter the tooth next to it cracked. They admitted that it was most likely damaged during the extraction but charged me anyway. So much for avoiding the charge of a new crown. When the crown went in I was told it would last 25-30 years. On my next visit I had a new dentist. She told me I desperately needed oral surgery to replace the tooth tat was pulled. If I did not have it the new crown was in immediate danger of failing. So the tooth that was pulled to save me from paying for a new crown, on their suggestion, caused me to pay for both an extraction & a new crown. Now they where trying to get me to pay many thousands of dollars more because of it. That was several years ago & the tooth that was going to fail "any day now" is still fine. This place clearly puts profit over patients. I gave this dental office two chances after I moved to Wakefield. Every time, they try to up sell me on some new toothpaste, rinse, or service that they claim I need or else my health is in serious danger. At my last appointment they went to take x rays. I stopped them and told the hygienist I just had x rays at my last cleaning. He told me don't worry, this is a routine part of your cleaning. Well, it wasn't. I got billed by my insurance company for it as they claim it wasn't necessary. On top of that, the first hygienist I had was super rude and kept telling me how crooked my bottom teeth were. I went to my very, last appointment here.  I have been very disappointed with the service since they had some kind of change of management or staff last spring.  I will not be returning based on the lack of customer service and suspicion of inappropriate diagnosis of services.  Each hygienist I've had is very nice and very good at cleaning.  My complaint is with billing and lack of communication by the front desk personnel.  Last spring, they told me that they had new staff and issues with billing so they brought in some new people.  I was told that they weren't billing clients correctly and clients weren't making payments so they hired this specific woman, whose name escapes me.  The hygienist then tells me that I needed a deep cleaning.  She never mentions a copay or any costs required on my end. Whenever they tell me that there is additional services that go above the routine cleaning, they come back with the breakdown of services and costs.  I schedule this cleaning and then it occurred to me to call and ask them if there are fees.  When they tell me that it is over $100, I decided to cancel the appointment out of principle. Were they going to spring that on me the day of the appointment? This new woman then says to me "Well did you think it was free? I don't want you to cancel since the woman came in just for your appointment.  I'm sure you can charge it to a credit card, can't you?"  I couldn't believe the response and cancelled anyway.  I ended up scheduling the appointment at a later date even though I didn't want to ever go back because I really like the hygienist and didn't want to not return out of spite.  I find it funny that while there on two occasions, I and other clients needed deep cleanings.  And these deep cleanings require three month follow up cleanings versus the regular cleanings.  I think they are diagnosing clients with this service and we may not all need it.  It's too much of a coincidence.  I never followed up with my first three month visit for this reason.  So I scheduled a regular cleaning for a couple of Friday's ago.  To make this long story short, I was billed as three month deep cleaning appointment even though when I called I scheduled a regular cleaning with the front desk person who never mentioned she scheduled this appointment type to me.  So I express my frustration, and the same woman says well its $80 for today's visit but we can bill you.  I kindly declined and made full payment.  I cancelled my future appointment and will never recommend this place to anyone.  There is such a lack of communication and carelessness regarding the financial burden they spring on their customers.  She immediately offended me by implying it was financial hardship based on my insurance type.  I disputed the charges based on the lack of communication of this appointment. I made an appointment for my fiancé to have broken TEETH (multiple) removed as it was causing him pain. They made the appointment for when the next time the oral surgeon was in and told us to allow time to fill out paperwork so please arrive at least 30 min before scheduled appointment. We got there filled out paperwork everything was great. The front staff were very professional. My fiancé didn't have dental insurance so they told us about a program they have where you pay and they give you 15 percent off services for a year with free cleaning. My fiancé was then seen by the Oral surgeon had an x ray done and the surgeon told him for now I'm going to take the one bothering you most. ONE was extracted OUT OF 4!!! It was a very quick procedure for ONLY one. Once this healed my fiancé had 3 other broken molars still that desperately needed to be extracted!!! So again I called and made the appointment for when the oral surgeon would be in next for the second time. We showed up I checked him in at the front desk. We waited about 30 min before he went to be seen by Dr Richard for the 2nd time now within a two week period!!! I told my fiancé to tell Dr Richard that there are 3 broken teeth and they all needed to go today as I also stressed to the check in receptionist. They took him back and he was out just as quick as the first time. I waited in the waiting room. Not even 5 minutes of my fiancé being back there his assistant came out to tell me they were pulling 2 teeth. I said no no no I'm NOT COMING BACK AGAIN!!! Tell the Dr there is 3 teeth!!! She said would you like to talk to Dr Richard and I said yes. She took me back there and I told my fiancé there are 3 teeth that need to be pulled and I told Dr Richard and his assistant there were 3 teeth one behind the other all in a row. I was not coming back again and paying for him to have a whole other procedure done. I wanted it all done that day!!! I was paying for this procedure in full!!! When it was over and I was paying, Dr Richard came out to give care instructions to my fiancé and off we went. Two days later my fiancé tells me it's hurting up there and I said open let me see. What the HECK!!! You have got to be kidding me?!. There is still one molar left in there!!! I told him 3 and he really only took 2!!! So now I'm livid... beyond pissed! I called the office and told them I wanted the last extraction done for free and that this wasn't right I voiced that I wanted 3 out and Dr Richard only did 2. I told them I have already been there two times and it all should have been taken care of by the second time. They said we are so sorry there is nothing we can do but set an appoint for him to see Dr Richard again and have that tooth extracted. And I told them he needed antibiotics and totally disregarded that. They continued to get him an appointment and I said am I going to have to pay for this all over again. Am I going to have to pay for the anesthesia again for the 3rd time?!. They said yes mam. I hung up in a rage!!! I'm extremely unhappy with this place. Not to mention the 15% off plan that they offer you DO NOT SIGN UP FOR IT!!! They told me it covered a cleaning later on also and it DOES NOT!!! Extremely unhappy with this place!!! ALSO... I have my own dental insurance and I get 2 free cleanings a year and before I sat in a chair to have my own teeth cleaned they said they took delta dental... why am I still getting a bill for 57 dollars!!! Yes I was a new patient, but I GET 2 FREE cleanings a year from my dental insurance company and should NOT BE CHARGED period. This place just try's to take you for your money!!! Total scam!!! New in the area and tried them for a cleaning/exam. I told them I had some sensitivity around gums. The dentist inspected and said to come back for the sensitivity issue. I went to counter and they asked when did I want to come in for the dental work. I said what dental work? They said the dentists documented that they need to drill into 6 teeth and apply bonding to help the sensitivity. I said absolutely NOT! This was the most dishonest irresponsible unethical thing I have ever run across with a dentist. I found another dentist in town who advised to use a softer toothbrush. Problem solved. Gentle Dental practices are unethical (money driven) and really need to be investigated by a state agency. read more

Gentle Dental in Wakefield does not provide good faith estimates for the work that they do. Twice they have given me estimates for fillings, and both times, they work has cost me more than double what their estimate was for the work. They do not work within the terms they agreed to with the dental insurance companies. I have filed reports with the Better Business Bureau and my insurance company because of the overcharging for basic dental work. Also the set up of the office is very open. You can see other patients being worked on as you walk down the hall, and you can hear the dentists discussing issues with other patients in nearby rooms (so you can bet others can hear you as well). The last time I was there, I heard a patient who was clearly struggling during her procedure, which is a bit unsettling when you are sitting in the dentist chair. While I feel that the care of the work is adequate, I can not recommend this dental office because I do not think that they have acceptable business practices. read more

Short and Sweet...had an 11:15 FIRST appointment. They had asked I come early to fill out paperwork. Arrived at 11:00. At 11:50 they called me to come to a chair...please keep in mind, for most of the time, I was the ONLY one in the waiting room. When finally called, I told them I had to go...she said "oh, we are running a bit behind today!" Ya think? My first appointment was actually scheduled for a few weeks ago...they called me a few hours before I was to go to say "we have to cancel you...our gal is out today!" So...they want 25 bucks from me if I cancel with less than 24 hours notice...How I see it, they owe ME 50 bucks, just to call it even! read more

I visit Gentle Dental for any dental issues ranging from routine checkups to advanced dental procedures. Everyone in the office is courteous and professional from the front desk to the hygienists, dentist & specialist. Considering that I feel anxious about getting a dental treatment done, Dr. Amin truly knows how to make you feel comfortable and explains everything about the dental procedures that are needed. I am also undergoing ortho treatment, Dr. Hoffman has done a very good job with my adult braces, my teeth look great! The assistants and hygienists are always cheerful and friendly, as is Dr. Revah. I seem to need more anesthetic than most people, and she is always patient and good humored about making sure I'm not in pain. I'm not sure what's up with the previous reviewer, but the office is always clean and pleasant. They have worked with me to make sure I'm getting the care I need at a pace that I can afford. From the moment you walk in you are instantly skeeved. The place is so outdated with carpet! Yes carpet! And its filthy. I was then taken to my room, not a room at all they are all sectioned off so as I walk by I can see all other patients getting cleanings or fillings, which turned my stomach right away. Next up xrays, they put those awful things in your mouth which for me barely fit and tears come to my eyes, was so relieved when it was over only to be told minutes later they messed up and had to do it again! My whole family has been with gentle Dental for about ten years now. All I can say about them is that they are wonderful. I would recommend them to anyone. I met so many wonderful dentists and hygienist .Among the best hygienists is Asmaa. She is so nice with her patients, and makes sure she does her job the best way. While she is working with you often times she would stop and ask "are you ok?, do you have any pain?, Do you need anything". I showed up for my appointment after work to find out it was cancelled. After checking my phone, I remembered I did get a call from GD, which I had to cut short due to an important call from my CEO beeping in (was waiting for this call). The 20 second call with GD was basically 24 hours before the appointment. Since I had no voicemails or follow up calls to reschedule I assumed the dropped call was to confirm the appointment when it was actually canceling my it unbeknownst to me. Big mix up. To make things worse, the next appointment is over a month away.....ouch. Might give GD one more chance after I make some calls to other places. I understand, things happen, but the day before is very short notice and it better be confirmed. Next time I'll save my time and my gas and call the office before I head there. The girls at the counter were very apologetic, just frustrating after a long work day and then fighting 128 traffic to get there on time. 2 stars because it is probably at least half my fault, I guess. read more
